I Warned Her; Friend Of UNILAG Girl Who Died After Night Out With Man
A friend of the late 100-Level Chemistry Education student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Temitope Aminat Omolara, who died in mysterious circumstances, has spoken of how she warned the deceased to stop going to clubs.
The late Omolara died last week, days after she allegedly followed a man to a club. She vomited blood before she died, it was said.
The deceased’s friend, who simply gave her name as Olanike, said she had warned her several times, but said her advice fell on deaf ears.
Olanike attended Gbaja Senior Girls Secondary School in Surulere with the late Omolara.
She said the deceased was brilliant while in secondary school, noting that her character changed after they were both admitted into university.
She said: “I called her when she started going out at nights, but she would say she needed to socialise.”
Some students in her department believed the late Temitope may have died of what they called spiritual attack, while other said the death may be as a result of food poison.
A member of Moremi Hall Executive, who preferred not to be named, said the late Temitope started vomiting blood several hours after she returned from club.
She said: “There was nothing we can link her death to, because she did not show any sign of illness prior to the incident. We are suspecting she may have been poisoned from wherever she went to. She was taken to the medical centre immediately she started vomiting blood. But, she asked to be taken to another hospital.
“A guy, who seems to be her friend or brother, came to pick her up from the hostel and from there, we don’t know what actually transpired along the line.”

Court Orders EFCC To Unfreeze Patience Jonathan’s $5.9m Account
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to unfreeze the account of former first lady Patience Goodluck Jonathan. The account contains $5.9 million.
Recall that a Federal high court sitting in Lagos had in December last year ordered the freezing of multiple accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, suspected to be owned by Dame Patience Jonathan and also suspected to be proceeds of crime.
One of the accounts in the former First Lady’s name contained specifically the sum of $5,316.66. The court while giving reasons as to why it ordered the accounts frozen said it was on the ground that the money is suspected to be proceeds of crime.
However, the Ex-First Lady, through her solicitor, First Law Associates, later gave the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, 14 days with effect from September 18 to unfreeze her accounts and tender a public apology to her, maintaining that, “our Client is a law-abiding citizen who has never or at all been the subject of any criminal and/or financial investigation, whether at home or abroad.”
“Accordingly, she has not been found guilty of any criminal conduct throughout a sparkling public service career spanning over 35 years.”
Angry Nigerians Attack Police Station Over Killing Of Woman In Lagos
About three people sustained gunshot injuries and scores were injured during a protest in Mushin, Lagos State, over the killing of a 52-year-old trader, Mrs. Kudirat Adebayo.
The protesters had dumped the corpse of the deceased at the Olosan Police Station on Tuesday when the policemen allegedly shot and fired tear gas at the crowd.
It was learnt that in the melee, many residents were injured, while three people sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to different hospitals for treatment.
Sources say three policemen alleged to have been involved in the killing of Adebayo had been arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.
It was gathered that some policemen attached to the Olosan division had on Tuesday trailed a suspected fraudster to the Tollgate area of Mushin.
The suspect was said to have resisted arrest and mobilised his friends, who attacked the cops. The policemen reportedly called for reinforcement from the division.
The new police team deployed in the scene was said to have opened fire to disperse the attackers.
However, a stray bullet allegedly hit the victim in the head while she prepared to fry yam cake (ojojo) for her customers around 6pm.
The mother of two was said to have slumped and died.
When Punch visited the scene on Wednesday, thick bloodstains were observed where Adebayo breathed her last.
Grated yam flour, groundnut oil, and other items of her trade, were still in the place she left them, as a crowd of sympathisers called for justice.
It was learnt that the corpse had been deposited in the Mainland Mortuary, Yaba.
Her sister, Adenike Fatai, identified the policemen involved in the killing as Charles and Prince.
She said, “Some policemen on motorcycles trailed a man to Tollgate. They accused him of being a yahoo boy. They wanted to arrest him, but the man put up a fight against them.
“They called for reinforcement and that was how their colleagues came in a patrol van and started shooting indiscriminately. They fired more than 20 bullets. My sister, who was about to fry ojojo, was hit by a bullet. She fell and died.
“A motorcycle rider went to challenge Prince, telling him a woman had been hit by their bullet. Prince shot him as well in the leg. The policemen were six in number.”

Ahmed Musa Quizzed in The UK for Assault On Wife
Leicester cityfootballer Ahmed Musa has been arrested on suspicion of attacking his wife. The Nigerian striker, 24, was quizzed at his £850,000 five-bedroom home in Countesthorpe, Leicestershire, just hours after his side's 2-0 win over Sunderland.
Police received a domestic abuse complaint against the player, who cost the Premier League club a record fee of £16.6million. No-one was in when they first arrived at the home so officers made inquiries with shocked neighbours in the upmarket neighbourhood.
The former CSKA Moscow forward was finally arrested at 1am yesterday by two plain-clothed policewomen after he returned home.
The father-of-two Musa was grilled for allegedly beating his wife Jamila and was released without charge.
A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: 'A 24-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning at his home address near Leicester on suspicion of common assault.'
Angry Youths Beat House Of Reps Member Into Coma
House of Reps member representating Bosso and Paiko constituencies of Niger State, Hon. Salihu Adamu, has been beaten into a coma by aggrieved youths in his constituency.
The lawmaker was first rushed to a private hospital, following injuries he sustained in the attack.
Hon. Adamu was later transferred to another hospital in Kaduna for further treatment. A source said that the lawmaker’s vehicle was damaged by the angry youths.
Some sympathisers called the police when the youths were attacking the lawmaker. Policemen who swooped on the area saved the politician from being lynched.
Adamu had driven into a villages in his constituency for a political meeting when he was attacked.
It was gathered that the youths accused the politician of not attending political meetings since he was elected about two years ago.
A source told Punch that the youths asked the lawmaker to leave the venue of the meeting, saying they would attack him if he did not.
“One of the youths slapped him while another hit him in the stomach. This made him to fall. It later became a free-for-all as every youth there tried to beat him,” a source said.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident.
“It was a politically motivated attack,” Elkana said, adding that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Suge Knight claims his ex-wife and former Death Row Records security killed Tupac Shakur
Marion 'Suge' Knight claims that his
ex-wife and former Death Row Records security chief Reggie White Jr
killed Tupac Shakur, and insists he was the real target of the 1996
drive-by.
Suge's attorney Thaddeus
Culpepper wrote in a signed affidavit, that 'Knight has known for many
years that Reggie Wright Jr. and his ex-wife Sharitha were behind the
murder of Tupac and attempted murder of Knight.'
He added that Knight also had alleged details of Wright's involvement in the Bigge Smalls murder case.
The
rapper, who until now has always refused to identify the shooter
White Jr responded to the claims in 2015, after Poole's death, to AllHipHop, pointing out that several people that had accused him of Tupac's murder had died in the past decade.
They include the late rapper's ex-bodyguards Michael Moore, Frank Alexander and Poole.
'I
believe in karma,' he said. 'All these people are dropping dead. I keep
telling people God don't like ugly. I hope people learn a lesson from
this.'
Wright warned that the next person could be Tupac Assassination co-director Bond.
'The
next person is probably going to be R.J. Bond. I ain't predicting no
death on anybody, but they better get their selves right,' he said.
'They better stop with all this bullcrap they've been promoting, because
they're all dying like flies around here.'
Suge's marriage to Sharitha Golden, the mother of his first child, was tumultuous at best.
Just two years before their wedding in November 1989, Sharitha had obtained a restraining order against Suge.
They
later reconciled and wed, but got divorced the following year with
Sharitha demanding her ex pay $735,000 in unpaid child support.
Tupac's last public photograph was taken
as he was riding in the car with Death Row Records co-founder Suge on
September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas.
The
pair had just left a Mike Tyson fight held at the MGM Grand, when the
25-year-old rapper was shot as he stood up through the sunroof to talk
to a group of women while the car was stopped at a traffic light.
Shakur was hit four times - twice in the chest, once in the arm, and once in the leg.
He eventually died six days later on September 13.
Bond
believes Suge, who is behind bars awaiting a separate murder trial, is
ready to make a statement about Tupac's murder because it proves that he
has been a target of gangs out to get him for years.
Suge,
who was shot multiple times in 2014, has been in jail since his arrest
for mowing down two men in a burger stand parking lot in Compton in
2015, killing businessman and friend Terry Carter and injuring Cle
'Bone' Sloan.
The two men had been
working as security on the location set for the NWA movie Straight Outta
Compton and had got into a dispute with Knight earlier in the day.
Prosecutors
have charged Knight with murder and attempted murder. He has pleaded
not guilty and claims he accidentally struck Carter as he fled the scene
in fear for his life suspecting an armed ambush.
Bond
and Carlin insist Knight was a victim in Vegas, which could be evidence
of his that he was also telling the truth about his 2014 shooting at
One Oak and in the Compton case he is only trial for.
'The
hope is Knight's confirmation of the story laid out in Compton (the
film) may put a final stamp to close this mystery, after 20 years.'

Nigeria Police Arraign Man For Stealing Pomo
Tobi, whose address was not given, pleaded not guilty to the two counts preferred against him.
The prosecutor, Eruada Victor, said the accused committed the offences on March 25 at Ijaye bus stop, Ojokoro, Lagos State.
Eruada said the accused broke into the shop of the complainant, Yusuf Iyabo, to commit the crime.
The prosecutor said Tobi was caught by a vigilance group in the area, adding that the offences contravened sections 285 and 308 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
He said the rods and a cutlass he allegedly used to damage the door of the shop were recovered.
Section 285 stipulates a three year jail term upon conviction.
The Magistrate, Mrs. G.O. Anifowoshe, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum. The case was adjourned till April 17.

Senior Naval Officer Shoots Self Dead In Lagos
The Fleet Commander, Western Naval Command, Apapa, Lagos State, Rear
Admiral Daniel Ikoli, has allegedly shot himself dead in his residence
in the Apapa area.
It was learnt that a service pistol, expended and live ammunition, were recovered at the scene by police detectives who visited the residence.
He lived with his house boy. His wife stays in Abuja, while his children are schooling abroad.
It was learnt that the commander, a member of the presidential committee investigating the $15bn arms deal, left his office on Tuesday around 1pm, on the grounds that he was ill.
Around 5am on Wednesday, the house boy reportedly heard a gunshot from his room. On getting to the spot, he found him dead and raised the alarm.
A source close to Okoli disclosed to Punch that he had been managing depression and an ailment for some time, adding that it was not impossible that he committed suicide.
The source, however, did not disclose the nature of the ailment.
He said, “He was Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT, and was later appointed into the presidential committee that probed the arms deal. He was very lively and intelligent.
“But for some time now, he had been battling an illness and had lost weight. He had also become reserved lately, which was unlike him. He usually complained about the high dollar rate and unavailability of foreign exchange because he had children studying abroad.
“He left the office on Tuesday afternoon after complaining that he was not feeling fine. I was shocked this morning when I learnt he shot himself.”
Another source stated that bullets hit Okoli on the chest and he bled to death, adding that three expended bullets were found in his apartment.
He said, “The house boy said he heard a gunshot and was alarmed. He later went into Okoli’s room and found him in a pool of blood. His wife is in Abuja and his children school abroad. His aides usually leave after taking him home from office.
“Three bullets were seen in the room. No one can really tell what happened. He was a nice and intelligent officer. He was the one who spearheaded the renovations of BEECROFT when he was the commander.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said investigation had commenced, adding that the deceased had been deposited in a mortuary for autopsy.
He said, “We are investigating the incident to get a clearer picture. Either murder or suicide, we sympathise with the Nigerian Navy as we carry out investigations into the incident.”
