Wife Seeks Dissolution Of 14-Year Marriage Over Excessive Sex

One Foluke Ojo has approached a Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, seeking dissolution of her marriage to Busuyi Ojo, saying she was tired of the union over alleged too much sex from her husband.

The couple who had been married for 14 years, both agreed to the dissolution. Folake alleged that her husband was no more taking care of the family. She declared that she was no more in love with her husband, asking the court to grant her prayer.

The applicant alleged that Busuyi wanted to have sex with her all the time; and that anytime she refused to have sex with him, she would be beaten blue black by her husband. She further alleged that after beating her, Busuyi would still go ahead and have sex with her.

She alleged, “There was a day my husband beat me up, it was my mother that rescued me and took me to hospital.”

In response, Busuyi denied all the allegations leveled against him by his wife; saying that Folake always disobeyed him and that she did not always behave like a responsible wife.

“She dressed like a prostitute, she can wear any cloth she likes, forgetting that she is a housewife,” Busuyi alleged.

Expressing no more interest in the marriage, the husband urged the court to grant his wife’s request of terminating the 14-year union.

Having heard from both sides, the president of the Magistrates’ Court, Mr. Ayodele Omotola, in his ruling, said there was an indication that the relationship had broken down, but he urged the parties to allow peace to reign.

The court president however ordered the respondent to pay a sum of N5,000 to the court for the food allowances of their children and then adjourned the case till May 10, 2017 (today) for judgment.

Ifeanyi Ubah Sues DSS, Seeks Release From Detention

The Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Ifeanyi Ubah, has sued the Department of State Services before the Federal High Court in Lagos over what he termed unlawful detention by the security agency.

Ubah’s lawyer, Mrs. Ifeoma Esom, who appeared before Justice Mohammed Idris today with an ex parte application, claimed that her client had been in detention since May 6.

She urged the judge to order the DSS to release Ubah to prevent the security agency from coercing him to accede to “whatever conditions they impose on him in exchange for his freedom.”

Upon hearing the ex parte application on Tuesday, Justice Idris ordered the DSS to bring Ubah before him on May 12, 2017, to show cause why the businessman should not be released unconditionally.

In an affidavit filed in support of the application, the Secretary of Capital Oil and Gas Limited,George Oranuba, claimed that the DSS arrested his boss on account of allegations levelled against him by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria.

According to Oranuba, the issue had become a subject of litigation and was already before the court.

Oranuba, however, said despite the subsisting suit, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the DSS still invited Ubah for questioning.

According to him, Ubah had earlier been detained from March 24 to April 14, 2017.

The DSS had claimed that it arrested and detained Ubah for what it termed an act of “economic sabotage” involving an alleged diversion of petroleum products worth about N11bn.

Debbie Mike, a 23-year-old lady, who allegedly assaulted her ex-boyfriend with electrical iron, was on Monday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The jealous lover had assaulted Lanre Adewole, her former lover, with the iron during a fight.

The accused is facing a charge of assault to which she has pleaded not guilty.

Earlier, Sgt. Kehinde Olatunde told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 5 at No, 3a, Sadiku St., Sari-Iganmu in Orile on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

“There was a misunderstanding between Debbie and Adewole, her landlord’s son. The accused had complained to Adewole about the leaking roof in her room, but the ex-lover ignored her.

“A fight ensued and Debbie picked an iron and hit Adewole on the forehead and injured him.”

The case has been adjourned until May 11 for trial.

Ogun Police Command Arrests Fake Soldier Over Murder

The Ogun Police Command says it has arrested a fake soldier who allegedly killed a petrol tanker motor boy in Abeokuta.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Ilyasu, stated this on Monday while presenting the suspect at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta

Ilyasu said the 49-year-old suspect, Tunde Olatunbosun, who allegedly committed the crime on April 29 at Leme in Abeokuta, was arrested on Friday.

He said the incident followed an argument between the suspect and the victim, identified as Razaq, at a car wash at Leme.

“On April 29, at Alaja car wash in Leme area of Abeokuta, one man named Olatunbosun Tunde, who brought his unregistered Sienna car to wash was engaged in an argument with a motor boy identified as Razaq.

” The argument came up over claims by the suspect that the vehicle which the deceased was working on obstructed his own vehicle.

“All of a sudden, the suspect who was dressed in military camouflage knickers brought out a gun and shot the motor boy at a close range and the boy died on the spot.

” The suspect quickly rushed to his car and fled the scene leaving no trace whatsoever,” he said.

The commissioner said that he placed his men on red alert and the police, through deployment of “technically – driven – intelligence- investigation”, traced the suspect to the Republic of Togo and lured him back to Nigeria where he was eventually arrested.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a leader of a notorious armed bandit terrorising Abeokuta and its environs.

” His gang is said to be into snatching of vehicles, kidnapping and impersonating military officers to to dupe unsuspecting members of the public,” he said.

Ilyasu added that the police recovered some dangerous weapons from the suspect including 43 live cartridges, one camouflage army knicker and two camouflage army trousers.

Other weapons recovered from the suspect were seven pairs of different vehicle number plates and one Aver pump action gun with serial number 15-0083.

The commissioner assured that the command was determined, resolute and focused in its task of making the state safe and secure.

Olatunbosun who spoke with newsmen said that the incident was a “mistake”.

” I only wanted to use the gun to harass and scare him in the course of the argument.

“The motor boy was dragging the gun with me and I never knew the gun was not in safety- catch and it eventually triggered off.

”I am not a robber. I am a motor dealer and I only use my licenced gun to scare away criminals who often trouble me in the course of my business.

” I sincerely regret my action,” he said.
