The Deputy Inspector-General of Police Joshak Habila on Friday said the
students kidnapped by gunmen in Lagos would be rescued within few days.
Habila gave the assurance during the closing of one-month training for police anti-bomb squad in Lagos State.
He
said all other kidnap victims had been rescued before now, stressing
that the students’ abduction, the second in the same school, will not be
different from others.
“In the next few days, you will hear good
news about the students. The security of people is not only by the
police but by all. We have put machinery in place to rescue them”,
Habila assured.
Six students of Senior Secondary School of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, in Epe, were kidnapped early Thursday.
The
kidnappers involved in Thursday’s operation according to police were
suspected to be members of a militant kidnap gang that had carried out
several kidnappings, armed robbery and the killings of security agents
in Lagos and Ogun state.
The students, all boys, were taken from their hostel and led out through the bush path to the abductors’ waiting boats.
Four of the abducted students are in Senior Secondary School 1 while two are in SSS2.
NAN recalls that four students and two staff members of the school were abducted in October 2016.

Day Care Worker Arrested For Torturing 8-Month-Old To Death
A Baltimore day care worker was arrested after police found disturbing
video of the caretaker assaulting an 8-month-old girl who died.
Authorities were called to the Rocket Tiers Learning Center on Tuesday, responding to a report of a baby who wasn't breathing. When cops arrived, EMS workers were performing CPR on the infant, identified as Reese Bowman.
The child was taken to a local hospital, where police said she died shortly after her arrival. According to CBS Baltimore, surveillance video at the child-care facility showed 23-year-old Leah Walden several times violently snatched Bowman out her crib by one arm.
The worker was also seen putting blankets over the infant, covering her face, and then placing pillows on the girl's head. At one point in the horrifying video, Walden appears to slap Bowman in her face.
Authorities said they don't know why the caretaker attacked the innocent little girl, and they believe Bowman was awake during the assault.

Legislator advises traders to reduce prices Due To Radaman
A member of Kaduna State House Assembly, Alhaji Bello Gimi, has urged traders in the country to reduce the prices of their goods during the Ramadan.
Gimi, who represents Makarfi constituency, said such gesture would ease off the burden faced by most Nigerians “to even feed themselves.”
The lawmaker told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kaduna that it was very disturbing that prices of commodities tend to spiral during the Ramadan.
“We
have to advise them to reduce the price of their goods so as to help
the poor and earn maximum reward from Allah during the Holy month of
Ramadan.”
Gimi reminded Muslims of the promise of Allah to double rewards for good deeds during the month.
“We hope our marketers will hear this and not use the opportunity of the fasting period to hike prices of good."
“Rather
they should bring down the prices so that people will be able to buy
what they need for this fasting and enjoy the period,” he said.

Manchester Attacker Had Called Mom To Say He Was Sorry before Bombing Manchester
Bomber Salman Adebi phoned his nuclear scientist mother hours before his
deadly attack and said 'forgive me', a Libyan anti-terror official has
said.
A Libyan security source revealed Abedi rang his younger brother Hashem in Libya, telling him to get their mother Samia Tabbal, 50, to call him.
Details of his plea for forgiveness emerged after Tabbal was quizzed by police in Tripoli.
News sources in the US, citing intelligence officials, have said Abedi's mother was fearful her son had been radicalised and it has been claimed she alerted authorities.
The terrorist's family had informed authorities as they feared he had become 'dangerous', a US intelligence official said.
Meanwhile, Special Deterrent Force spokesman Ahmed bin Salem said Tabbal told interrogators her son left Libya for England only four days before the bombing and called her on the same day of the attack.

In 12 months, nobody will celebrate corruption again-Ibrahim Magu
Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said corruption will no longer be celebrated in Nigeria in 12 months.
Magu said this on Thursday at the inauguration of the Ibadan zonal office of the anti-graft agency.
He said that those who are hellbent on truncating the efforts of the EFCC will ultimately fail.
“In spite of the efforts at fighting corruption, some people are still out there celebrating it,” he said.
“All these are put together to frustrate us. I want to assure you that they have failed. The fight has just started. We will fish them out, just give us 12 months and you won’t see them again.
Magu said that the non-confirmation of his appointment as the substantive chairman of EFCC by the national assembly had only encouraged him the more.
“It happened but I am not perturbed by the action. I work and do my job like there is no tomorrow,” he said.
“All we are doing is just to ensure that this country grows and the future of our younger ones is protected.”
Also speaking at the inauguration, Abubakar Malami, the attorney general and minister of justice, says the act establishing the EFCC will be reviewed in order to strengthen the commission.
He said that the review would ensure that the frequent removal of the commission’s chairman was checked.
“There would also be emphasis on strengthening public education and awareness. The agency will be repositioned to function at par with its international counterparts in developed countries,” he said.
The minister said that President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to ridding the country of corruption, noting that government had intensified efforts at taking the anti-corruption campaign to the grassroots.
Malami said that the whistle blowing policy had demonstrated greater success and had shown that Nigerians were ready and willing to partner with government in the fight against corruption.
Dino Melaye’s N50k book is cut and paste of newspaper articles – Omoyele Sowore
Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, says Dino Melaye’s N50,000 is cut and paste of newspaper article.
Speaking at the launch of Sahara Reporters’ civic media lab in Lagos on Thursday, Sowore said this launch is unlike the red ribbon tape being paraded in Abuja, making specific reference to Melaye, senator representing Kogi west at the national assembly.
“What prof briefly mentioned about the launching in Abuja was the book launch of Dino Melaye, that has been very gut-wrenching for a lot of us,” Sowore said.
“We have been looking for that book in bookstores in Abuja, it has not been made available because we can’t afford it. It is N50,000 — just to buy cut and paste of newspaper articles.”
Speaking later on at the launch, Sowore said he started Sahara Reporters by accident, emphasising that he did not start the platform the day he started using the internet.
“When I got to the US, we were using dial-up on AOL; you will dial into a telephone number and if you are lucky, you will hook onto the internet after several attempts.
“I had no idea that you can get to a point where you can actually put a device in your pocket and use it to reach the whole of the world; communicate and also receive communication.
“The way my head always works was that I was that I will think about Nigeria, even though I was in the US, I was living Nigeria. Even though I was living in the US, I will wake up Nigerian time, I was upset the Nigerian way, I was unhappy the Nigerian way, I was also happy sometimes, the Nigerian way.
“As most people know, I was also an agitator the Nigerian way.I was inspired also by the decadence coming from the Nigerian media. I wanted to read Nigerian news all the time, and I discovered that Nigerian newspapers that I used to love were just not reporting issues as they were happening.
“Of course the reason was that the money bags, the politicians, had bought over the newspaper. As you know there was a time James Ibori owned and he still does own a newspaper today.
“One of the most popular newspapers in Lagos is owned by a politician known as Jagaban. You know what that means. The most powerful TV station in Lagos is also owned by him. So they have hijacked the media space.
“So I was seeing media, but I was not seeing mass in it. It was the reason why I kept pushing like the man of the legend that became the man who invented tyre. He was boiling rubber, he slept, overslept and when he woke up, rubber had become tyre.
“That was what I was doing. I was just trying my luck, I wanted to be reaching maybe 200 people in a day, and then one day I started and we were reaching 5,000 and then the next month, on and on. To the extent that by the 2015 election, we reached four million people in one day.”
He said these also became frustration for him because the young people who he thought would have taken the opportunity of the ideas online to a liberating level have become paralysed by them
“Forget about the noise on twitter, it has no depth; it is very shallow. I don’t think Twitter can take us to promise land,” Sowore said.
“I don’t see it happening, because I see the people they call social media influencers in this country, they are not the kind of people who are thinking progressively about how a nation should be built.”

Update Of 200L UNIBEN student who stabbed her roommate in the head(Full Detail)
In a social media post, Heritage's sister claims Becky has attacked a girl in her secondary school with knife before and she showed no remorse! She also claimed that nothing was done to Becky for stabbing her sister on the head as the school security just questioned her and allowed her go home. What she wrote below...
"God is Faithful but justice must be served Watch the kind of friends you keep oh! My sister was stabbed in her head five times by Becky Isoken Oseye - 200 level Mass communication student"After the stabbing she began to shout 'die die die: and Uniben security was doing nothing about it. Instead of carrying the culprit out immediately, they allowed her brush her teeth, eat, bath and then catwalk to the security office."On arrival, she was given a seat and sat majestically instead of being locked up. Can you imagine no friend went with Becky except myself, Osas and my sister when she was admitted for appendicitis and she could do something like this?"I even talked with her (after the incident) and she said abeg leave me alone, what she had done was just ice cream. It was stated that she has done something similar in her secondary school 'presco girls school'. That she tore the girls body with knife."Justice has to be served! If Becky should be rusticated it would be lovely but her mum who her father left would feel it so much. The poor woman has high blood pressure all because of her and the girl doesn't care about school so she won't feel it. She should be beaten she and rusticated.. Stab someone five times over wrapper? Jesus Christ. and she was let go this afternoon without a scratch. While my sister was in the hospital, she was sleeping peacefully at home."
