Tuface is a very good friend,We Established Rumors- Dotun Omotoye

Dotun Omotoye, a night club guru popularly known as Dotun Lacachette in an interview with City People explained how himself and Tuface started Rumors club 6 years ago and how they have managed to expand the business. Emjoy!

Tell us about yourself before Rumors

Dotun before Rumors… Let me put it this way, there was a place in GRA called Newyorkers. Before I left the country in the 90s I used to hangout in Newyorkers. When I returned to the country, I found myself been attracted to the same spot. Newyorkers was the thing everybody talked about back then. I came back and noticed that Newyorkers had lost its steam. The owner of Newyorkers is my friend; we had a sit down and agreed that I take over the running. That was how I transformed it to Manhattan and later Lacachette. The need to evolve and do something different came on me and I went into partnership with another friend and we started the project, The Place together. After the place, Lacachette wasn’t doing so well and I found myself going back to Lacachette to see how I could turn it around. That I did with a very good friend, Innocent Idibia. The brand Rumors belong to Tuface and I. From the way it is, we have established a few outlets here and there and the only thing I can see happening to Rumors is a spread.

How does Rumors compare to other clubs?

Well, for Rumors, It’s a premium lounge; it’s not a regular club. It is a place you come into to build contact. We are not very particular about what you have to spend, though that is important, the whole idea is to create an atmosphere where people could come into and meet like minds in a party atmosphere.

Your relationship with Tuface Idibia.

Tuface is a very good friend. There are very few men like Tuface Idibia. I knew him first as a customer back when I was doing the Lacachette project. He used to come around as a customer. Tuface is one person that did not see himself as people saw him. He was very peaceful and easy going. One day, I sat with him after we had built a strong relationship and I advised him to invest his money in the nightclub business. I told him if he was open to it we could go into partnership. Somehow the whole idea got to him and that’s how we started till this day.

How long ago was this?

The first Rumors started 6 years ago.

See Why 14-year-old wife kills her husband five months after marriage

THE Niger State Police Command has arrested a 14-year-old wife from Lifari Village in the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state for allegedly killing her 40-year-old husband, Isiaka Usman.
       14-year-old wife
It was learnt that the suspect, Aisha Isah, and the late Usman, to whom she got married five months ago, were cousins.
Northern City News gathered that Isah had been complaining of starvation and maltreatment since she started living with Usman, who already had two wives.
One of the two wives was said to have left on account of the failure of Usman to meet up with his responsibilities to his family.
The teenage wife told our correspondent on Tuesday that her late husband failed to provide for her for two days.
“And when I confronted him, he slapped me and out of anger, I hit him on the forehead with a pestle and he collapsed and died,” she explained.
Isah added, “My husband had the habit of not giving us money for food and each time we (the wives) confront him, he would tell us to go to our parents’ home and eat. He never cared about us; he beat us every time we demanded money for food.”
Asked if the other wife was at home at the time of the incident, she stated that the other wife went to the hospital with her baby.
“My mate was not around; it was only me and my late husband that were in the house at the time of the incident. I picked a pestle and hit him, he fell on the ground and I ran to my mother’s house at Kahigu Village in Mashegu council,” Isah said.
Isah said she inadvertently killed her husband out of anger and pleaded for forgiveness.
“I am sorry for what happened, it is the devil’s work and I pray my parents will forgive me; I never knew that he would die, I regretted all my actions,” she stated.
The police spokesman, Bala Elkana, explained that the victim died at Mashegu Hospital where he was taken for treatment.
Elkana described the incident as unfortunate, but added that the suspect would nevertheless be prosecuted as a juvenile offender.

Three Arrested For Raping Pastor In Zimbabwe

Three women have appeared before a court accused of gang raping a pastor who went round to their home to demand money they owed him.

Western Commonage Magistrates Court in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, heard how the holy man was grabbed and forced onto a bed and then stripped.

The three women Sandra Ncube, 21, Riamuhetsi Mlauzi, 23, and Mongiwe Mpofu, 25, were in the dock charged with aggravated indecent assault.

Prosecutor Mr Petros Shoko said the complainant, who is not being named to spare his blushes, was a pastor at a church in Cowdray Park.

He said the male victim had gone to the home of the three women as he was owed money and he was invited inside the house to collect it.

But once inside he alleged he was grabbed by one woman around the waist and his trousers were pulled down by another who then fondled him.

Mr Shoko said: 'On July 14 at 7pm the complainant went to the accused persons residence to collect money which Mlauzi owed.

'They forced him to lie on the bed and undressed him. Ncube sat on his chest and he tried to push her away.

'However Mlauzi held his legs together and sat on his top pressing him against the bed

'Mpofu was in another room and brought condoms and placed them on the complainants manhood and helped to hold him down.

'Ncube had sexual intercourse with the complainant once without his consent' Mr Shoko said.

The three denied raping the pastor but admitted indecent assault.

Ncube said: 'We were just playing around Your Worship. I did not think that he would take it seriously'.

Mpofu denied taking part but admitted bringing the condoms saying: 'We keep them around the house and I just brought them'.

Mlauzi said she wanted to 'fix' the pastor who she claimed had a habit of walking in on the women when they were bathing.

She said: 'He always walks in on me bathing and claims to be unmoved as a man of God. I just wanted to see if he was going to be aroused or not.

'I did not plan to execute the whole rape thing Your Worship'.

Magistrate Lungile Ncube was told by Mlauzi that she just wanted to prove to the pastor that he had 'feelings like everybody else'.

She said: 'I wanted him to see that he was not special and was not immune to sexual arousal.

'When I touched him he immediately got aroused and that is all we wanted to see' she said.

The complainant was taken to Mpilo Central Hospital for a medical examination and the report will be prepared for the magistrates.

All three were remanded in custody until August 7 for a full trial
