Obafemi Martins To Undergo Surgery In UK

33-year old Obafemi Martins, is set to travel to the UK to undergo surgery, his Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua has announced.

The striker has been ruled out of action for between six and seven months with a Quadriceps Tendon Rupture suffered during an Asian Champions League clash against Kashima Antlers on Tuesday.

They made the announcement today on Twitter saying; ”Martins is flying to UK for surgery today. Be well soon.”

Nigeria Police Busted For Armed Robbery Activities

A police corporal attached to the Airport Police Station in Calabar has been paraded alongside 32 other armed robbery suspects by the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, in Calabar, Cross River state capital.

The unnamed corporal and a few others have been robbing innocent people of valuables.
They allegedly robbed someone of a car and took the vehicle to a spray painter somewhere in Asari Eso, Calabar, for alterations to be on the car so that no one can spot it again. The police were tipped off and they arrested him somewhere around Efio Ette, Calabar.

Lady Suing Me For Millions Over Rape Is A Liar, She's 'My Girl'- Russell Simmons

Russell Simmons claims a woman accusing him of sexual assault sent him loving texts and even nudes after the alleged rape and her lawsuit is nothing more than a CASH GRAB.

Simmons says in new legal documents, he and Jennifer Jarosik had a casual relationship for over a decade and occasionally had sex but it was always consensual. He claims Jarosik frequently sent him loving messages and unsolicited nude photos including just weeks after the alleged 2016 rape and long after another 2011 sexual assault he claims she's publicly accused him of.

Simmons' lawyer says in court papers he believes this is nothing more than a shakedown, and that "only after hearing that women were able to recover money for real abuse by sexual predators, did Ms. Jarosik decide to see if she could extract large amounts of money" from him.


He also claims Jarosik has been found by a court to have a "propensity to exaggerate" and to suffer from "untreated mental health issues."

Simmons calls her claims complete fiction.

Jarosik however claims Simmons propositioned her for sex at his home in 2016, and when she refused, he became aggressive, assaulted her and proceeded to rape her. She is suing him for millions.

Nigerian singer Banky W signs endorsement deal with UBER

Popular Nigerian singer, Banky W has been signed by the hail-cab service provider UBER as their brand ambassador in Nigeria. He will be the first Nigerian celebrity to be accorded such honour.The obviously excited entrepreneur took to his Instagram page to make the announcement.

Bollywood star Salman Khan facing up to six years in jail for killing Antelope

                                

Bollywood star Salman Khan is facing up to six years in jail after being found guilty of killing two rare antelopes.

An Indian court in the city of Jodhpur today convicted the mega-star of poaching the rare antelopes back in 1998 – a verdict that could derail the career of one of the country’s most popular actors.

52 year old Salman Khan killed the protected species in the Indian state of Rajasthan whilst shooting a movie, and was found guilty of violating the country’s wildlife law.

He could face up to six years in prison, with a one year jail term being the minimum, according to reports.

Mahipal Bishnoi, a lawyer who fought against Khan, said the court in Jodhpur was hearing arguments on the appropriate sentence for the actor.

“They are praying for probation, they are emphasising on the minimum sentence,” Bishnoi told reporters outside the court.

Reuters reports they could not immediately reach a lawyer for Khan to seek comment.

Killing of blackbucks is punishable under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act. Their judicial authorities had framed charges against the accused Salman Khan in 2006, but trial began only in 2013 after being on hold for six years over a partial discharge granted by the trial court, till the high court restored all charges in 2012.

The hunting incident occurred at 2am on October 2, 1998.

Two other people – Dushyant Singh (a travel agent) and Dinesh Gawre (Salman’s assistant at the time) – are also accused in the case.

Four other Bollywood stars – Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam Kothari – were also accused of partaking in the hunting trip but were acquitted for lack of evidence.

Heavy security was deployed outside the Jodhpur court before the verdict against Salman Khan was delivered.

Hundreds of police were deployed outside the courtroom in Jodhpur to keep back fans who massed to support the body-building actor best known for his macho roles.

Salman Khan, known for his tough guy roles in Hindi films, has accused the state’s forest department of framing him over the rare antelope case.

Herdsmen Kill Man, Wife, Two Children In Taraba

The Chairman of Takum Local Government in Taraba State, Shiban Tikare, on Wednesday confirmed the killing of four family members in a night attack on Mbiya central village on the outskirts of Takum town, Takum Local Government Area of the state.

Shiban, who said a nine-month-old baby survived the attack, noted that the attackers invaded the village around 2am on Wednesday and slaughtered the four family members who were deep asleep.

He said, “We heard gunshots around 1am along Takum-Ussa road and as we were making efforts to mobilise policemen to the area, we heard gunshots at Mbiya Central, a community just on the outskirts of the town.


“By the time we got there, four people had been slaughtered like chickens; a man, his wife and two children.

“A baby mysteriously survived the attack. The attackers whom we suspect to be Fulani herdsmen also attacked Basam, a village close to Gen. T.Y. Danjuma’s farm and set the whole village  ablaze.”

Shiban lamented the killings in the area despite the deployment of the troops of the Exercise Ayem Akpatuma (Cat Race) in the area by the Federal Government.

According to him, instead of combing the villages to flush out the attackers, the soldiers allegedly brutalised his people.

He added that his people were disappointed with the exercise which he said was not yielding the desired results.

The Taraba State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP,  David Misal, confirmed the attack, but said casualty figures were still not clear.
