Policemen On Illegal Duty Shoot Two Wedding Guests

There was pandemonium in Anara, in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State on Sunday as two policemen allegedly shot two persons during a traditional wedding.

The unfortunate development made guests to abandon the ceremony and run for dear life.

The two policemen, whose identities had yet to be ascertained as of press time, were said to have escorted two prominent persons to the event.

The Punch gathered that the trigger-policemen were whisked away by members of the bride’s family who prevented a mob from attacking them.

It was learnt on Monday that the policemen, who were said to be at large, did not get the approval of the state Commissioner of Police to be at the occasion.

A witness, who identified himself only as Ugo, said the cops had first shot into the air before mistakenly firing at guests.

He said, “The policemen were shooting into the air to impress their bosses, who were spraying money at the party.

“One of the cops was using one hand to shot into the air with his AK-47 rifle. He lost control of the gun and shot in the direction of people.

“Two persons were injured. While one was shot in the hand and waist, the other person’s hand was shattered by bullets. They later became unconscious and were taken to the Emergency Unit of the Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu.

“The youths wanted to lynch the policemen, but the bride’s family intervened. They were also prevented from vandalising the two cars of the men who brought them to the wedding.”

The victims were identified as Ikechukwu Onwudiwe of Umunchi, in the Isiala Mbano LGA, and Uzochukwu Ogbuhuruzo of Ezumuoha, in the same LGA.

When Punch visited the victims at the hospital, they were prevented from speaking to the correspondent.

Nurses were seen attending to them.

An aged woman, who was later discovered to be the mother of one of the men, was seen crying and rolling on the ground, while some persons believed to be the victim’s children consoled her.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, said the Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, had ordered investigation into the matter.

Enwerem noted that the policemen came from Ekiti State and ran away from the scene after the atmosphere became charged as violent youths attempted to mob them.

LASEMA averts deadly fire outbreak at Ojota New Garage, Lagos

An accident between a truck and a fully loaded fuel tanker that would have lead to a a deadly fire outbreak in Lagos yesterday was averted by the LASEMA Response Unit Fire & Rescue team yesterday.

A 112 call was made by 1:15pm and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA) Response Unit’s fire trucks were deployed at 1:17pm to the scene.

On arrival at the scene of incident, it was discovered that there was an accident involving a Tanker with registration number KTU 160XM laden with gas products and a Truck with unknown registration number loaded with 44,000 litres of PMS.

Further investigations revealed that the gas truck broke down due to mechanical fault while the truck conveying PMS had a brake failure and rammed into the gas tanker from behind.

Fortunately no life was lost. No serious casualty was recorded.

Nigerian lawyer, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who has been quite vocal in defending President Buhari against his seemingly increasing critics, has been appointed the Director, Strategic Communications for his 2019 presidential campaigns.

Festus Keyamo who announced his position in Buhari’s campaign for the 2019 presidential poll on Twitter, wrote;

:”With this letter below, I have just been appointed the Director, Strategic Communications (Official Spokesperson) for the President’s 2019 Presidential Campaigns. I will be making a formal statement on this much later.”

Nigerian Microsoft Engineer accused of cyber theft in Florida

41-year-old Nigerian-born Microsoft engineer, Raymond Uadiale, who reportedly helped launder cash obtained from victims of the Reventon ransomware, has been picked by the FBI.

The suspect who is now facing cyber theft charges, worked with a UK citizen going online by the handle K!NG. It was gathered that K!NG would distribute and infect victims with the Reveton ransomware, while Uadiale would collect payments and send the cash to K!NG, in the UK.

Ransomware is malicious software that locks you out of your computer or your data, and demands money to let you back in. Reveton pretends to be a warning from your country’s national police service, locks you out of your PC, and threatens criminal proceedings within 48 hours – usually for unspecified copyright offences.

Of course, you can bypass the prosecution if you pay a “fine” to the cybercriminals. The amount they extort is typically about $200.

The Microsoft engineer allegedly obtained prepaid debit cards and, using the online alias of Mike Roland, would use an unnamed messaging program to send K!NG the account numbers for the prepaid cards.

Prosecutors claim that K!NG would transfer the “victims’ ransomware payments from GreenDot MoneyPaks to the prepaid debit card account numbers provided by Uadiale.” Then K!NG “would message Uadiale the last four digits of the loaded prepaid debit cards and the amount loaded on each.”

Court documents claim “Uadiale would then withdraw the loaded ransomware payments from the prepaid debit cards as cash at automated-teller-machine or point-of-sale locations.”

He would later convert these funds into the Liberty Reserve digital currency and send the proceeds to his UK partner, keeping 30% of the funds, part of his cut.

If found guilty on all charges, he risks a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $500,000, and up to three years of supervised release. Uadiale has been set free on a $100,000 bond.

25-Year Old Commits Suicide Over Football Betting During Barcelong VS Roma Second Leg

A  25 year old man has reportedly committed suicide in Ilorin, Kwara state. The deceased allegedly took his live by hanging himself on a ceiling fan in his apartment.

He was said to have lost out in a betting over the outcome of a European Champion League match.

The incident was said to have occurred in  Oko-Erin area of the town after the return leg match between FC Barcelona of Spain and AS Roma of Italy played in Italy.

He was said to have bet that  Barcelona who were leading by 4-1 in the first leg played at Nou Camp, Spain would maintain lead at end of the return leg and b through to the semi-final of the championship.


However, the match turned out to be 3-0 in favour of AS Roma making the aggregate result to be 4-4 with Roma qualifying for the semi-final at the expense of Barcelona by virtue of away goals rule.

The result made the deceased to lose the motorcycle to his opponent in the bet as the opponent reportedly smiled home with the bike from the viewing centre at the night immediately after the match.

The man was said to be downcast with the loss of the motorcycle as some said  he used it for commercial purposes and that it was his main source of livelihood while some others said it was someone else and not him the owner of the bike and that he only had it in his custody on behalf of the owner.

It was learnt that not being able to recover from the trauma, the man resorted to committing suicide by hanging himself.

Drunk alleged yahoo boys crash their SUV in Lekki

Photos have been shared online of a ghastly accident that just happened at Jakande First gate in Lekki Phase 2, Lagos.

According to an eyewitness, alleged ‘Yahoo boys’ on their way back from a night club completely drunk, crashed their Honda Pilot SUV and it crushed, destroyed everything in its path including electric poles and a gate.

Thankfully, no life was lost; a lady at the scene suffered injuries.
