Floyd Mayweather ($285 mil in pretax annual earnings), captures the top spot on Forbes’ 20th annual Celebrity 100 ranking of the world’s highest-paid celebrities (p. 106 in Forbes’ August 31, 2018 magazine issue).

The boxer’s August 2017 fight versus Conor McGregor generated more than $550 million in revenue, with Money Mayweather earning $275 million, securing him the No. 1 spot for the second year since 2015.

George Clooney ($239 mil) is in the No. 2 spot after British liquor giant Diageo purchased Casamigos, the tequila company Clooney cofounded, giving him the best annual take-home of his—or any actor’s—career.


Kylie Jenner ($166.5 mil) returns to the list at No. 3, a significant jump from the 2017 newcomer’s spot at No. 59, followed by Judge Judy Sheindlin ($147 mil) at No. 4. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, earning $124 million, rounds out the top five. The Rock (story p. 102) nearly doubled his 2017 $65 million payday, and his acting-related earnings are the largest ever recorded in the 20 years Forbes has tracked the Celebrity 100. Catholic Choristers Allegedly Ignore Burial Of One Of Their Own Because He Owed Choir Dues

According to Facebook User, Ifeanyị Ọnwụnemea who claims members of a Catholic Church in Owerri ignored the burial ceremony of one of their own because he was owing choir dues. Ifeanyi said the choristers refused to attend the burial and the church is gradually becoming something else. He wrote;

''Because Chima couldn’t pay all his Choir dues, his Church Choir – Immaculate Conception Parish, Owerri – refused to attend and sing at his Burial Mass.
Some of the said Parish members only arrived at his graveside just to show pretence.
That’s too bad for a boy who had been an ORPHAN. Sincerely, the Catholic Church is gradually becoming a monumental disappointment.''

Court Remands Boyfriend Of Ex-Ondo Deputy Governor’s Daughter, Khadijat

An Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded 27- year-old Seidu-Shakiru Adeyemi in Olokuta prison for allegedly killing his 25-year-old girlfriend, Khadijat Oluboyo.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Khadijat, the daughter of a former deputy governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, was a final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

She was found dead in her boyfriend’s house on July 2.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered the remand of the accused in prison custody pending the receipt of legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecution.


Bob-Manuel ordered that the original copy of the case file be sent to the State Chief Registrar for safe keeping.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Mary Adebayo, had told the court that the accused person and others at large conspired together to strangulate Khadijat to death and buried her in his room.
According to prosecutor, the accused person committed the offence on July 2 at about 7:30 pm at Aratunsi St., Oke-Aro, Akure.

She said that the offence was contrary to and punishable under Sections 324 and 316 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37, Vol. I Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The plea of the accused was not taken, while the Chief Magistrate adjourned the case till Aug. 23 for receipt of the legal advice.
