Former Aston Villa Player Dalian Atkinson Dies After Being Tasered By Police






Former Aston Villa star Dalian Atkinson has died after being shot with a Taser by police.

The ex-footballer was named as the 48-year-old who died following the police operation in Telford. Officers from West Mercia Police raced to the scene after receiving reports that people were concerned for the safety of a person in Telford.

Police were called at around 1.30am this morning to a home in the area. As they arrived, a Taser was used and Atkinson, who subsequently received medical attention, was pronounced dead at approximately 3am.

He was rushed to hospital where he had a heart attack but could not be saved.


A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “An ambulance was dispatched and upon arrival found a man who had been Tasered.

“As he was being conveyed to Princess Royal Hospital, his condition deteriorated and he went into cardiac arrest.

“Despite efforts it was not possible to save him and he was confirmed dead at hospital, shortly after arrival.”
