Man Kills Wife, Children, Mother-In-Law In Australia

A 24-year-old man has been accused of killing his wife, three toddlers and mother-in-law with a blunt instrument and knives at their suburban family home, where he remained for several days before turning himself in, Australian police said on Monday.

Police charged Anthony Robert Harvey with the murders of his two-year-old twins Alice and Beatrix, his three-year-old daughter Charlotte and his 41-year-old wife Mara in the south-western city of Perth.

Harvey, who lived in the home, is also alleged to have killed his mother-in-law Beverley Quinn, 73, after she arrived at the same address the next day.

Western Australia Police Commissioner Chris Dawson told reporters no firearms were used in the attacks which police believe were carried out with several weapons including “a blunt instrument and knives”.

“We’re alleging that the murders took place over two days,” he said.

“The mother Mara and her three children were all murdered over a period of time on the third (of September), and that Mrs Quinn was murdered the following morning.” Dawson said the two women were allegedly attacked in the kitchen while the children were killed “in other rooms of the house”.

“We are alleging that Mr Harvey remained at the... house for some days” before heading north, he added.

Police found the bodies of the five victims at the unassuming detached family home after Harvey walked into a police station in a remote mining area some 1,500km north of the city on Sunday – a week after their deaths.

Harvey is expected to return to court on Sept 19.

Kogi State Govt Uncovers N4.3bn Pension Fraud

Kogi State Government said it has uncovered a N4.3 billion pension fraud perpetrated under the administrations of former Governors of the State, Ibrahim Idris and Captain Idris Wada between 2010 – 2015.

The Director General, Media and Publicity to the state governor, Mr. Kingdsley Famwo who stated this over the weekend said the fraudulent acts was revealed through an Audit exercise embarked upon by private auditor mandated by the state governor, Yahaya Bello.

Fanwo said the audit report shows that the syndicate diverted the pension and gratuity funds to private accounts, using names of unintended beneficiaries to the detriment of pensioners in the State.

He said, “On assumption of Office, the Executive Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, miffed by the level of unpaid pensions in the state, ordered a comprehensive audit of pension funds in the State.

The revelations of the Audit has been mind-boggling, revealing the humongous fraud in the pension administration under the two administrations in the State.”

Fanwo said the Governor saddened by the development has ordered immediately that those found guilty be prosecuted, “His Excellency, Yahaya Bello has expressed disappointment over the unfortunate diversion of pension funds during the last two administrations in the State. He has found it very hard to understand how people put in authority could punish the senior citizens of our dear State by diverting monies meant for their pensions and gratuities into private pockets.

Betty Irabor narrates her experience flying economy class

                           Image result for Betty Irabor
Media personality Mrs Betty Irabor has shared her tiring experience traveling premium economy on a flight.
Betty Irabor who is the CEO of Genevieve Magazine said she wasn’t allowed to travel in peace as most people who know her trooped top her side to ask if anything was wrong as they never believed someone of her status could stoop so low to fly economy.
A while ago I travelled Premium economy on Virgin Atlantic and sat comfortably at my seat waiting to enjoy a great flight. But my peace and quiet was not to be cos a few people were embarrassed (on my behalf I guess) by my class of travel.
“Aunty Betty, were you downgraded” someone asked, really concerned and perhaps outraged by the audacity of any airline to down grade such a “high profile celebrity”.
“No”. I shook my head. “I was not downgraded”. I smiled to reassure the aburo as she made her way to Upper Class.
Then came another “fan” “Aunty Betty, are you Ok, what happened?”. How do you mean? I asked, really surprised…” I thought you would be in Upper Class”.. I just smiled until she left.. Like Really?
But I wasn’t about to be left to travel my premium economy in peace as yet another “fan” came from her Upper Class seat to ask “Aunty Betty, can I bring you some champagne, do you need anything?”. ( she is now the Air hostess abi?) Again,I said No, I was fine!
Long and short of the story, I couldn’t travel in peace! People decided to make my business their own!
Can we just allow people Be?…To make their choices and take jobs that are available while they are waiting for their big breaks? Can a former project fame guy drive cabs in peace before his dream job and career? Can a former actor on Bill Cosby show bag groceries in peace and not be shamed? Can we just be and let others be?? Can we ourselves just live our best lives without padding anything to impress others who really don’t count? Can we resist societal pressures and live our lives on our terms? Can you just be you and Do you?
Can you just be happy, married or in your single hood? I urge you to be happy in your up and coming career, can you accept that you’re work in progress? Can you not give a damn abt others expectations? Can you choose not to accept any labeling?
Can u just not allow anyone/ society dictate how you choose to live? Can u choose not to apologize for your own choices and decisions but be brave to OWN them & hold yourself accountable for any consequences?
Have a good week.. Don’t burden your self unnecessarily.
Travel light! ??

Peace Mass Transit Transportation Pen Down Condolence Message To Affected Families Of Itobe Accident

OUR LOSS; OUR PAIN: PMT REGRETS ITOBE ACCIDENT, PLEADS FOR UNDERSTANDING.
We at Peace Mass Transit LTD, deeply regret and commiserate with families of victims of the August 16 accident at the Itobe end of the Lokoja-Abuja Road, involving one of our mini-buses.
Eye witness accounts of the unfortunate incident have been consistent, to wit: that a certain Peugeot 406 saloon car, bearing a large gas cylinder and coming from the opposite direction on top speed, while attempting to overtake another vehicle crashed into our bus head-on! The said PMT bus was, and remained on its rightful lane even at the point of the collision.
The resultant impact caused the gas cylinder to explode into a huge conflagration of fire which made it difficult for occupants of both vehicles to be rescued all alive.
Our sincere condolences go to the families of all the deceased passengers who had kept the faith with their preferred road transport service provider-PMT, but fell to the cold hands of death in those circumstances we view as most unfortunate.
It was also regrettable that national Emergency First Responders at the scene of the accident and natives of the area, apparently acting in good conscience, made the decision to honourably clear the thoroughfare, and inter the remains of deceased victims together, nearby. We have since been told the decision on internment was collective a one among the first responders, as a result of the state of the remains.
These same compatriots had also risked their lives to defy raging gas fire to pull out some passengers alive, moving them to hospital for treatment.
The life of every mortal is indeed in the hands of God,and at PMT, no safety consideration or concern is postponed for action for even a second, and the regulatory agencies can bear us out.
The ITOBE episode is the first of its kind in our history, hence, staff at all levels remain in deep, awful shock, even up till this moment.
Given a different scenario and circumstances, on another day, certain impulsive actions allowed on that occasion may have been handled differently, with more regard to peculiar sensibilities. Cultural and religious belief of those around also played a role here, but then, the noble motive and selfless efforts of these patriots that were on ground, could be put in the proper perspective, and appreciated.
We mourn our cherished passengers who were affected to no end, and send our heartfelt condolences to bereaved families. Your loss is our loss!
We place high premium on the welfare and safety of our dear Passengers. Clearly, we are in this situation, together. Please, be comforted.
We have kept in touch with majority of bereaved families and in frantic, committed efforts to reach the others whose contact details are not easily discernible from the travel manifest. This is why this statement is coming out now.
It is clearly a tough period for us at PMT, as we pledge our unwavering commitment to the safety of our travelling public who are the only reason we are in this ever challenging business called transportation.
Spare a thought for us in your prayers; we do, for you, all the time.
May God bless us all, and give all of us the Grace to carry on to His glory.

Bricklayer Accused Of Raping 13-Year-Old Neighbour’s Daughter

A bricklayer, Dayo Samuel, has been arrested by the Ondo State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in the Ijoka area of Akure, Ondo State.

The 35-year-old bricklayer had allegedly been sexually abusing the victim for a long time before he was arrested.

The victim was said to be the daughter of the suspect’s neighbour. The suspect was paraded at the headquarters of the command in Akure by the state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Pedro Awili.

The NSCDC commandant, who said the suspect would “certainly face the wrath of the law,” explained that Samuel had threatened to kill the victim if she told anybody that he defiled her.

He said the victim, however, told her mother, who reported the matter to the corps, leading to Samuel’s arrest.

Awili said, “Abuse and defilement of minors have becoming a recurring crime in Ondo State and NSCDC has been collaborating with other security agencies to ensure that the trend is brought to an end in the state.

“The suspect will soon be charged to court after the completion of investigation.”

He appealed to the people of the state to work with the command by sharing security information so that the NSCDC could be able to deliver on its mandate.

The 13-year-old victim said the suspect used to give her N50 or groundnuts to lure her.

She said, “He would give me money or groundnuts before having sex with me. I later told my mother. It is my mother that told the civil defence people to arrest him.”

However, the suspect denied the allegation, saying the mother of the victim always quarrelled with him and had been looking for ways to get him.

“I didn’t defile the girl; the woman and her child are not telling the truth,” he said.

Sultan Of Sokoto’s Son In Serious Car Cash After ‘Getting High On Codeine’ [Photos]

The eldest son of Usman Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, popularly called Amir, has been involved in an accident.

Amir, whose name means “leader” and was named after Sheik Usman Fodio, was driving at a very high speed of over 200km/hr around 12noon within Sokoto Airport Road, in an area called Bado, when the accident happened.

With him in the car were Khalifa Maccido, son of Aliyu Macciddo, and a girl he allegedly imported from Kaduna to have fun with.

Amir, believed to have been dismissed from a UK school due to his drunkenness, was seen earlier on Sunday leaving a guesthouse with the girl and his friend Khalifa. He was taken to the Usman Danfodio Teaching Hospital, where he has been unconscious.

Witnesses at the scene of the crash said Amir had been drunk while driving, and that a bottle of Benelyn Codeine syrup was found in the car.

While he was being taken to the hospital, officials of the Sultanate Council were seen removing the Sultanate council plate number from the car so as not to expose the Sultanate Council.

IG To Dismiss F-SARS Men Who Check Accounts

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has told operatives of the reformed Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad to desist from checking citizens’ bank account  details.

The IG also warned the F-SARS operatives not to invade people’s phones and laptops unless there was a court order or an instruction from the Commissioner of Police in charge of a state police command.

Speaking during a workshop in Owerri, the Imo State capital, Idris warned that any F-SARS operative who violated the new rules would be dismissed from the force.

Ibrahim, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the IGP’s X-Squad, Amaechi Elumelu, said any F-SARS operative who handled cases not related to armed robbery and kidnapping would equally be dismissed from the Force.

He said, “Under the new era in F-SARS, operatives must be professional and respect the rights and privileges of all citizens. In the past, F-SARS was considered as the most elitist and professional unit of the police force.

“In the last few years, the unit has been riddled with allegations of abuse and excesses which made the public to call for its disbandment.

“Under the reformed F-SARS, it is illegal to search suspects’ phones, computers, or inquire about their bank account details without proper authorisation.

“Henceforth, F-SARS commanders must get directives from the state Commissioners of Police before invading people’s privacy. Any officer who disobeys will be dismissed.”
