Former Norwegian Prime Minister detained in America over Iranian visa

Donald Trump's controversial travel ban has claimed it's first high profile personality as former Norwegian Prime Minister, Kjell Magne Bondevik was detained by American immigration officials while entering the U.S on Tuesday, January 31st.
Bondevik told CNN, he was interrogated by officials at Washington's Dulles International Airport because he had an Iranian visa in his diplomatic passport.

"When they found the Iranian visa, where l was in December 2014, they said that there was a ... regulation that with such a visa l had to be flagged up," Bondevik said.
After the former PM detailed his travel history - he was in Tehran speaking at an anti-extremism conference -- Bondevik said he "assumed and presumed that they would let me go immediately."

But instead, they questioned him for over an hour. "Did they really believe that l presented a problem or threat to the US? I expected they would show more flexibility and wisdom," he added.

The former European leader said he was held along with migrants from the Middle East and Africa who were also facing additional screening. Although Bondevik was eventually released, he said the atmosphere surrounding President Donald Trump's travel ban had shaken his core values.

Female Banker Arrested For Fighting Lagos Police DPO

The Lagos State Police Command has charged a banker, Obi Adaobi, with assaulting a Divisional Police Officer in the state, SP Sina Olunlade.

Adaobi, who works with a bank in Marina, Lagos, was arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on two counts bordering on breach of the peace and assault.

The banker was accused of grabbing the officer attached to the Ebute Ero Police Division by the uniform while he was on duty in Marina.

The DPO had led a team to the area around 5am on Friday, January 27, after receiving a distress call that a high-tension wire fell to the ground and could endanger the lives of passersby.

It was gathered that 28-year-old Adaobi, who was on the way to her office, stopped at the scene to observe what was happening.

The DPO was said to have instructed her to leave the scene, but the banker reportedly cautioned him not to talk to her like that, leading to an altercation.

A police source said the woman grabbed the DPO by the uniform and used her nails to inflict injuries in his chest.

“It was about 4am that the DPO was called. The electricity company at Elegbata was informed to take off power. The DPO later joined the team and the road was blocked.

“The banker stood under part of high-tension wires and the DPO shouted at her to leave the place. When she didn’t leave, the DPO shouted at her again and threatened to slap her. As he made move to push her away from the spot, she grabbed him by the uniform and used her artificial nails to injure him in the chest,” the source said.

However, Adaobi in her statement to the police, said she grabbed the officer by the uniform after he allegedly slapped her twice.

She said, “I wanted to observe what was happening when a policeman shouted that I should leave the place.

“He kept shouting and I said the issue was not worth shouting about. He slapped me twice. I grabbed him by the uniform and asked him to stop slapping me. Other policemen came and started beating me.”

The banker was brought before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on two counts of assault and breach of the peace by a police prosecutor, Inspector B. Ekundayo.

The charges read in part, “That you, Obi Adaobi, on January 27, 2017, at about 6am, around the UBA headquarters in Marina, Lagos Island, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did seriously assault SP Sina Olunlade, the DPO of the Ebute Ero Police Station, by grabbing him by his police uniform while on his lawful duty and gave him bruises with your artificial nails in his chest, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety by a presiding magistrate, Mr. A. Adefulire.

The case was adjourned till February 28, 2017.

Married Man duped a Lady of N450k after fake marriage proposal

A Lagos court has declared a 45-year old man, Raphael Emmanson wanted, for allegedly obtaining N450,000 from a lady, Miss Chinedu Chukwu under the false pretence of marrying her and to procuring visa for both to travel abroad as husband and wife, PM Express reports.

The wanted man not only duped Chinedu of the said amount, he also made the victim to lose her fiance and job with a pharmaceutical company and then fled.

It was gathered that Chinedu suffered her fate after she met Emmanson at a park in Abuja where he pretended to be stranded and she decided to assist him.

Emmanson, who is from Okigwe in Imo State, deceived Chinedu by telling her that he came to Abuja to procure visa to travel abroad but was stranded and needed a place to sleep till the next day that he purportedly had an appointment with an embassy.

She took pity on him and drove him to her house after explaining to her fiance what happened.
Chinedu said when Emmanson got to her house and she introduced him to her fiancé.

However, they became friends and after a while he ensured that she collapsed her relationship with her fiancé after he promised her marriage and that both will travel abroad.

It was through that deceit that he managed to obtain the money from her to procure visa.

After she gave him the money, the suspect bolted away and ran to Lagos.

Asides that the victim lost her fiance to the deceit of Emmanson, she also lost her job because part of the money taken off her was her company’s money.

After searching for him for several months, Emmanson was eventually arrested in his hideout in a hotel at Shasha area by the police.

Upon his arrest, it was discovered that the suspect is married with two children.
He was later taken to Ejigbo Magistrate’s court where he was charged with obtaining under false pretence and stealing under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate Mr J.O.E. Adeyemi granted him bail and remanded him in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.

However, when he was released from custody, Emmanson ran away again and has not appeared in court to face trial.

Consequently, the court declared him wanted and ordered for his arrest while the matter was adjourned till 27 March 2017.
