Bauchi Goverment Shut down secondary school where students conduct marriage among themselves

                        

A secondary school in Bauchi State, Saádu Zungur Model Primary and Secondary School, was shut down by the State government over the weekend, after illegal marriages between students was conducted by senior students organizedby in its premises.
The order to close down the school which came from the State's deputy State Governor, Nuhu Gidado, who is also the State's Commissioner for Education, also affected the primary section of the school. It was also disclosed that the school will remain closed until a special committee is set up by the government, whose task will be to  come up with detailed reports and recommendations on the issue.

The illegal marriage which was blamed on moral decadence in the society, in a press statement by Yakubu Adamu, Gidado's Special Assistant on Communications.

It is alleged that the school's teachers uncovered the affair, when their attention was drawn to shouts of excitements from students present at one of such ceremonies organized by an SS2 student to his alleged lover who is also a senior student.

The illegal marriage which took place despite the fact, that the male and female students have separate classrooms, was reported to the Principal of the school,  Mallam Ahmed Zailani, who in turn reported it to the Ministry of Education with hopes that appropriate sanctions would be given to the erring students.

According to Nigerian Tribune, this is not the first time such marriage will be organized, as it was gathered that the male students reportedly paid a brideprice of N500 to their brides-to-be as the condition for the marriages.

It was also revealed that the classmates of the intending couples, contributed money for snacks which would be eaten during such ceremonies.

A corp member, who was deployed to Enugu State for her service year, reportedly died in a ghastly motor accident that occurred in 9th Mile, Enugu State.

Airforce Man Who Killed Lover Undergoes Psychiatric Test, To Be Dismissed As He Owns Up To Crime

An air force man, B.A. Kalu, who was alleged to have shot dead his female colleague and lover, Solape Oladipupo, is undergoing a psychiatric test.

This is just as sources in the Nigerian Air Force told a Punch correspondent that the suspect, an aircraft man, would be dismissed from the service after facing a disciplinary panel.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, who confirmed the psychiatric test to our correspondent on Monday, said the air force would also ascertain whether Kalu acted under the influence of drugs.

Sources at the NAF Tactical Air Command, Makurdi, Benue State, where the incident occurred, told Punch Metro that after Kalu’s dismissal, he would be handed over to the police as a civilian, adding that he had already owned up to the crime.

One of the sources, said, “Kalu killed his girlfriend and he has admitted it. What the panel is investigating is to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident. The whole essence of that investigation is to prevent a recurrence, not to exonerate someone who has already admitted guilt.”

Kalu and Oladipupo, aka Shomzy, a native of Badagry, Lagos State, had a romantic affair which lasted for months, after they met on a parade ground. Kalu allegedly shot dead his lover on Saturday at the air force base after accusing her of having a romantic affair with other men. The aircraft man was thereafter arrested and detained at the base.

A suicide note reportedly written by Kalu emerged on some social media thereafter, in which he allegedly said only idiots would call him a fool for his action.

The NAF spokesman, Group Captain Famuyiwa, said the family of the deceased airforce woman had been contacted and condoled with.

He said, “If somebody wrote down a note and also committed himself to such act, we have to be sure if he is mentally stable or not. Therefore, there is a psychiatrist that is attached to him for a test. I also understand that some of his blood sample was taken to ascertain whether he had used drugs.

“Kalu will remain in the service until a disciplinary panel set up on the matter comes up with its decision. We know there are several offences against the state, including this one, which is murder.
But the air force has set up its own disciplinary procedure. A board is investigating and will decide the punishments for the suspect. The girl’s parents have been contacted and the NAF has commiserated with the family.”

Reno Omokri Defends Apostle Suleman

Reno Omokri has once again defended Apostle Suleman lashing out at critics of the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, saying he is just a giver and nothing more.

Man who fakes being a dignitary at high profile events arrested

A man who disguises himself as a dignitary in high profile events, has been arrested by security operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos Police Command.

Recovered from the 'high profile robber', who has been identified as Prince Agabi Junior Okanu was some laptops and a tablet,  three international passports, and an ipad which he stole in his previous adventures.
Prince who stole a tablet and an iphone of a visiting Oxford University Professor, has
confessed to commiting the alleged crimes, and has given useful information which has led to the arrest of some buyers of the several stolen items, which investigators are trying to recover from the buyers. The Oxford Professor’s bag, containing three international passport, was recovered in Agric Bus Stop where the Prince flung it after removing the tablet and iphone days ago.


It is also alleged that Prince who just had his engagement ceremony, was seated behind Ministers and other dignitaries, as Vice President Osinbajo performed the ground breaking ceremony for Lagos – Ibadan Railway Project on Tuesday.

He was speaking with a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when he was invited out and promptly arrested.

Ex-Beauty Queen Escapes Death As G-Wagon Catches Fire On Eko Bridge

Luck was yesterday on the side of Maryam Elisha, the CEO of Rikaoto by ME when her Mercedes Benz G-Wagon caught fire on Eko Bridge, Lagos. The ex-beauty queen was driving on the Bridge when other road users called her attention to a fire coming out of the vehicle. She tried to stop it but the brakes failed and finally stopped when it began to slow down. She put it on park, tried to jump out but the doors refused to open until people forced it opened. The car however burnt beyond repairs but she is thankful she escaped with no injuries.

Saharareporters has confirmed from multiple sources that the house in front of which curvy Nollywood actress Daniella Okeke last year showcased on Instagram a Mercedes-Benz GL450 was, like the car, allegedly purchased for her by the controversial pastor.

After buying it for N40m, the controversial ‘Man of God’ then spruced it up with N120million before handing it over to Ms. Okeke, who is one of the women romantically linked with him. (Total cost of house is 160m)

The property, which has two duplexes, is located on Alabi Street, off Okey Okeke Drive in Arowojobe Estate in the Mende-Maryland area of Lagos. It was initially owned


by fashion designer Adedayo David Eweje, who owns fashion company “David Wej.”

Saharareporters reached out to Mr. Eweje who admitted selling the duplex before 2013 but claimed he didn’t know to whom the house was sold or who the present occupant is. He said the transaction was handled by his lawyers, who are also in possession of the paperwork. Our sources, however, insisted Mr. Eweje was definitely aware that the front duplex was purchased by Apostle Suleman, as they did meet several times before the deal was completed.

Our reporters visited the house yesterday but attempt to speak with the occupants were unfruitful as no one answered the door. When we attempted to get back in there early today, security at the entrance of the estate had been beefed up significantly, obviously to ward off media interest in the area. Security men stationed at the gate of the Arowojobe Estate location of the house said the only way to gain access is to get the occupant to fetch you from the gate.

Following the latest revelations in the public domain, Apostle Suleman has declared that he is taking the battle of his exposed infidelity to a “spiritual” realm.

In a statement through Phrank Shuaibu, his spokesperson, the pastor asked members of his church to desist from engaging in a media war. This ceasefire is in stark difference to a fiery message he gave last Friday asking his followers to unfriend anyone on Facebook who might have a negative opinion about him. When she regained freedom, Ms. Otobo took the time to explain in detail her sexual encounters with Apostle Suleman, detailing how the controversial pastor funded her lifestyle, including flying her to the United States, Europe, and Nigeria for sex, and promised to marry her.

SON Discovers 8 Whole Flats Where Expired Products Are Repacked For Sale

With clothes on lines in the balconies of some flats in the four-storey building located in the densely-populated area of Kirikiri Town, Lagos, no one would have suspected that the eight flats are not occupied by human beings, but are warehouses for expired products, which are repackaged as new.

The discovery by officials of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON, weekend, after a tip-off by members of the public, was shocking as all sorts of cosmetics and household consumables were found in the flats, which had expired many years ago.

Conducting journalists round the building yesterday, SON Director of Monitoring & Compliance, Engr. Bede Obayi, said: “We acted on the intelligence we received from well-meaning Nigerians. You can see the volume of expired products here and imagine the implication for our society in terms of health issues.


“When somebody buys expired cream, what does it show? You are applying cream that the active ingredient has gone and that may cause reactions on the skin.

“More importantly, you are dealing with products that children use. Look at baby diapers that expired in 2015. Imagine what a product that expired in 2015 will do to a baby if used in 2017.”

Obayi confirmed that most of the products are popular brands imported into the country, adding “perhaps they went overseas to buy these products that are close to their expiry dates and shipped them down here, because they have ready markets where people can buy.

“This four-storey building of eight flats with the toilets, bathrooms and all available spaces filled with expired products. That tells you the enormity of the crime this person is committing.

“Look at this wrapper for disinfectant. What they do is to pick the expired ones and use this wrapper with new expiry dates to wrap it. When you have the old products inside this wrap that carries 2018 as expiry date, you will not know you are buying cloned products. The products have lost their active ingredients and efficacy.”

Importer’s alibi 

On the claim by the importer that he was waiting to destroy the products, Obayi said he should have removed the expired ones and contacted the relevant agencies of government to destroy the products in line with international best practices.

According to him, “but what we have seen here is a dubious warehouse or hideout where people are churning out expired products for the markets.”

Obayi said most of the products would have entered the markets as the importer supplies major supermarkets in the state.

He added that SON is going to seal up the whole building to carry out further investigations and use the process to recall those already sold out.

He said: “We have our offices throughout the nation and are going to escalate the recall process immediately, where we will get all the details of their transaction, so that anywhere these products are, we will pick them with the cost to the importer.

“SON cannot accept this and those who are out to kill Nigerians. We will not allow them to be selling things like this, killing people in the name of merchandising.

“We don’t want to continue to see people with illnesses caused by people who are out to kill by changing expiry dates.” He promised that at the end of investigation the importer will be persecuted by SON.
