Student Drowned As Friends Took A Group Selfie From Just A Few Feet Away

A college student drowned in a lake as his friends took a group selfie from just a few feet away - apparently oblivious to what was happening.

Vishwas G, from Bangalore, died on Sunday while out for a picnic with his pals. A shocking image has emerged showing his friends grinning into the camera as one took the selfie - said to also show his head bobbing on the surface of the water in the background.

Vishwas' grieving family later sat with his body outside the National College, where he was a student, in the Jayanagar area of Bangalore, in protest at his death.

They claimed lecturers in charge of the trip had been negligent but called off the action after management promised an investigation and disciplinary action against any member of staff found to be culpable.


Police confirmed that Vishwas G., the elder son of autorickshaw driver Govindaraju and his wife Sunanda, drowned in a 300-year-old temple tank.

Sumanth A., one of the students, said: "We had finished swimming and left for the Gundanjaneya temple and did not notice Vishwas's absence.

"One of the students was replaying his selfie photos and noticed Vishwas drowning being captured in the frame.

"He immediately alerted the NCC unit chief, Prof Girish, and other friends, and by the time they returned to the Kalyani, an hour had passed.

"Vishwas was nowhere to be seen."

Police said Prof Girish was present at the time but college authorities claimed that no faculty member had accompanied the students.

Local police officers later pulled Vishwas's body from the tanks and his parents rushed to the scene after they were alerted by his friends.

A police spokesman said: "Govindappa filed a complaint alleging that negligence by the National College management cost his son his life.

"We registered a case of unnatural death, based on the complaint, and may register a case against the college management if a probe confirms their negligence."

The spokesman added that police had not yet questioned the other students, as they had been in shock, but had their details and would do so in due course.

A man in Delta state was made to drink water used in washing his brother’s corpse to prove he had no hand in his death. According to Sapele Oghenek, he was compelled by family members to drink the water to prove his innocence.

Sapele Oghenek wrote;

“Report enter studio say na last weekend dem go bury Mechuko for deir village. We hear and wash one video wey the family members for compel deir brother to drink the corpse water,wey dem use wash the deadibody,as tradition demands,in case e hand dey Mechuko death,make ground for chop am. Salihu Dasuki has emerged the youngest senior lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University. The 29-year-old announced his resumption to work as a senior lecturer of Computing, on Twitter.Dasuki graduated with a first class degree in Information Technology from Eastern Mediterranean University, North Cyprus at 21. He went ahead to bag his Masters and PhD at Brunel University, UK, in 2012.

16-year-old boy ‘loses manhood’ after shaking hands with stranger

A mild drama ensued at Kurudu area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja on Monday after a 16-year-old boy reportedly lost his manhood after shaking hands with a stranger.

                   

The boy, Salvation from Abia State, had claimed that his manhood shrank and that he was unable to urinate after shaking hands with one Usman.
According to a witness, Usman, an electrician from Nasarawa State, went to the area in search of a brothel.
Usman’s first point of contact was Salvation, who after showing him the direction to the brothel noticed some physical changes on him and raised alarm.
The incident attracted the attention of passers-by who pounced on Usman.
When PREMIUM TIMES arrived the scene of the incident, Usman was in the custody of soldiers who had rescued him from the mob.
Narrating the incident, a teary-eyed Salvation said he had never set his eyes on Usman until that night.

“I locked my brother’s shop around 7:45 p.m. to go and watch Arsenal match. This guy (Usman) came to ask me to ask for ‘Ashawo’ (sex worker) joint is in this area. I pointed the way to him and afterwards, he shook my hand.
“When he shook my hand, I just felt a change in my body, I felt something left me. I tried to urinate but I couldn’t. That was how I raised alarm and people held him (Usman),” he said.

After the alarm, residents and traders in the area reportedly accosted Usman, beat him up and were about lynching him before soldiers from the Post-service Amy Estate came to his rescue.’
Usman, a father of two, however denied using charms to ‘take’ Salvation’s manhood.

“I came to the area and asked him where I can get an Ashawo joint. He showed me the place and that was all. Before I knew what was happening, people were already beating me, accusing me of taking his manhood. I don’t have any ‘juju’ and I don’t know anything about it. Today is the first day I will attempt to visit an Ashawo joint,” he said.

After hours of pacifying Usman to undo the charm, one of the sympathisers suggested Salvation be taken to a brothel to “test if the manhood has been restored.”
Heeding the advice, Salvation was led to a brothel where he was reportedly able to ejaculate with the aid of a sex worker.
Usman, however, remained in custody of the soldiers perhaps for his safety.

Law enforcement sources say the rapper was just outside Shoe Palace at the famous Hollywood and Highland intersection when he was hit! Officers were nearby and they responded immediately.

At this time, no arrests have been made and it's unclear how many people may have opened fire. We're told he suffered multiple gunshot wounds but his injuries appear to be non-life threatening at this time.

Drake Serves As Pallbearer At Pal's Burial

Police finally reveals Tupac’s killer in documentary (photos)

                        Killer of American rap legend, Tupac has finally been revealed by the Police in a new explosive documentary ‘Who Shot Biggie & Tupac?’Detectives Tim Bennan and Robert Ladd, who allegedly made headway in the 1996 murder incident which remained  unsolved with immense speculation that the rapper is still alive, said a gangster member from the Crips, Orlando ‘Baby Lane’ Anderson was the killer who opened fire on the star’s car in Las Vegas in 1996 in a revenge attack.Two US police officers who worked for Compton Police Department in California and spent years investigating the death of the Hip Hop icon, further revealed that they had Anderson on their radar after he tried to gun someone else down as part of a gangland initiation at the age of 15.The Cops were called in to help Las Vegas Police Department investigate the death which rocked the world of music, said in the immediate aftermath, informants told them Anderson was boasting to people about killing Tupac.Since the shooting took place in Las Vegas, they were not directly involved with the investigation, but the officers did coordinate with detectives who worked on the case.Bennan and Ladd say they pointed the investigation in the direction of a man who they still believe is the culprit.

“We believe Orlando Anderson was the one who did it,” Ladd told journalist Soledad O’Brien on last night’s show.

                          
At the time of Shakur’s death, Anderson was already under investigation for his alleged involvement in a different murder.Ladd and Bennan say that despite all the theories about elaborate conspiracies surrounding Tupac’s death (many believe jailed former music mogul Suge Knight ordered Shakur’s murder), the motive was no more complex than an old beef amongst gang members.

“They had all these other theories going on, but it was a really simple gang one-on-one to Tim and I,” Ladd says of the investigating officers.

Anderson certainly had motive–he was a member of a rival gang and had once suffered a savage beating at the hands of Shakur’s security team–and Bennan and Ladd say they were able to trace the murder weapon back to him. Bennan says he found the .40 calibre handgun that was used to murder Shakur in a Compton evidence locker. A tag stated that it was found at a gang member’s girlfriend’s house.Officers later learned that that gang member had also been murdered in Las Vegas around the time of Shakur’s death. Vegas police chose not to pursue the lead, and as a result, Bennan and Ladd say, they allowed a killer to go free. Anderson was murdered in a dispute over drug money in 1998, which means Bennan and Ladd’s theory will likely remain unproven.

Kanu’s Sureties Risk Imprisonment If He Fails To Appear In Court- Obla

The Special Assistant on Prosecution to President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the sureties who signed for the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu risk imprisonment if he fails to appear in court on October 17 and that if Kanu fails to appear before the Federal High Court the Judge will order a warrant for his arrest.’

Kanu is expected to appear at the Federal High Court Abuja on October 17, 2017, to answer to the charges pending against him.

Chief Okoi Urbana-Obla speaking recently said that: “The Federal Government has already filed a motion to set aside Kanu’s bail.


“Following the military exercise carried out in Umuahia, Abia State and the subsequent proscription of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has not been seen and may have gone underground.

“So it is not likely that he will appear in court on the next adjourned day for fear of being arrested by the police or security agencies.

Kanu had sureties that entered into recognizance or signed bail bonds as ordered by the court that led to his release.

“The implication of the failure of Kanu to appear in court on the next adjourned date on those who stood sureties for his recognizance is that his recognizance shall be forfeited.

“The court shall order his bond entered by his sureties to pay the penalty or to show sufficient cause why the penalty should not be paid. “It follows that Kanu’s three sureties will be ordered to pay N100 million each.

Where sufficient cause is not shown by the sureties or the persons bound and the penalty is not paid, the court may recover the penalty from the person bound or from his estate if he is dead, in the manner laid down in the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015 for the recovery of fine.

 “However, where the penalty is not paid and cannot be recovered in the manner laid down by the law, the person bound shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months.”

Court sends 60 IPOB members to prison

                            

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State, on Monday remanded 60 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) at the Afara Federal Prisons in Aba, the Nation Newspaper reports.

The magistrate ordered that the I​POB members be remanded in prison after their counsel challenged the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter.

The magistrate, who had directed that the case file be transferred to the Department for Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice, later adjourned the case till October 25.

The​ agitators were among those arrested by security agents in Umuahia, Isiala Ngwa and other parts of the state capital during the clash between the army and members of the separatist group.

​Abia state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna, said the ​IPOB members​ were arraigned on an eight-count charge of conspiracy, terrorism, attempted murder, membership of unlawful society and rioting, among others.

Buhari Orders Evacuation Of Nigerian Students In Dominican Island Due To Hurricane

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate evacuation of Nigerian students stranded in the Dominican Island.

The Presidential directive is occasioned by the reported Hurricane Maria that recently occured on the Island.

Many Nigerian students usually attend medical schools in Dominican Islands which prepare them to move to the U. S. and Europe for the completion of their medical degree programmes.


When contacted, the presidential spokesperson on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed the development, via an e-mail sent to Premium Times.

”President Buhari has ordered for immediate evacuation,’’ he simply affirmed.

“The President was deeply touched when he learnt that some of them escaped with nothing but the shirts on their backs. Following the directive, Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been on top of the situation. Nigerian missions in the region have been monitoring the situation. The ministry has assigned a senior official to travel for the purpose of issuing the stranded students, temporary travel permits,’’ he added.

”Using that, they will be moved to Brazil, where they don’t need visas for their onward evacuation to Nigeria.’’

They have also learned Travis has been privately telling friends about the pregnancy for nearly 2 months, and Kylie is around 5 months pregnant.
