”Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) was started by @captdemuren & I, way back in 2001/2002 – in my dorm room at my University in NY. The reason we used the word “Empire” was because Tunde and I were crazy enough to dream that we could build a company that would eventually become an Empire.. one that would serve as the launching pad for not only my career goals in music, movies and other interests… but one that would also serve as a stepping stone for other talents to become more successful and achieve their goals as well. We started the record label part of it right there in my room, which we relocated to Lagos around Vals day 2008 – and we thank God for guiding and crowning our efforts thus far; we’ve played our little part in helping discover/boost the careers of a number of talents in the Music business (some of your favourite Artists, Producers & Engineers..) and we are forever grateful for the opportunity to live out our dreams by giving others a platform to shine as well. In January of 2017, after 9 years of being in the Nigerian Music Industry, we decided it was time to quietly close the Record Label Arm of our business (Part 1.. pls read next post 😁)

Four Arrested For Murder Of PDP Chieftain In Rivers

Four out of the five suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, Heaven Ihuigwe, were paraded on Tuesday at the State Police Command in Port Harcourt.

The late Ihuigwe was killed on September 16, 2017 in Rumuekini in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area by the suspects, who dumped his corpse in a cassava farm.

Until his death, Ihuigwe was the PDP chairman of Ward 16 in Ogbogoro community in Obio/Akor LGA.

Speaking with newsmen at the state police command on Tuesday, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Cyril Okoro, disclosed that men of the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igwe, apprehended the suspected killers.


Okoro explained that the police had to douse the tension in the community over Ihuigwe’s murder by assuring the people that the killers would be fished out and made to face the law.

“Following a tip-off, men of the IGP Monitoring Unit arrested one Ifeanyi Okoro, 25 years old, residing at Omagwa community in the Ikwerre LGA. On interrogation, the suspect confessed to have been involved in the murder of the late Honourable.

“His confession led to the arrest of three others – Ajade Niyi, Austin Isotec and Chief Joseph Iwuoku aka Uduakonmiri, whose confession led to the arrest of the fourth suspect, Clement Yusuf, with one Yaye still at large,” the DCP said.

Explaining that the suspects had confessed to the crime, Okoro told newsmen that they would soon be charged to court.

According to him, one black Toyota Highlander, a Gionee M5 phone belonging to the deceased and some original land documents were recovered from the suspects.

The wife of the slain politician, Mrs. Salome Ihuigwe, expressed sadness that her husband was killed for no reason, saying she had been left alone to cater for their five children

KFC Closes More Than Half Of Its 900 UK Outlets Over Lack Of Chicken

KFC has closed more than half of its 900 UK outlets after delivery problems meant they ran out of chicken.

Last week, the fried chicken chain switched its delivery contract to DHL, which blamed "operational issues" for the supply disruption.

It was unclear when the delivery problems would be rectified, a KFC spokesperson said.

Workers are being encouraged to take holiday but would not be forced to do so, he added.

"Our teams are working flat out all hours to get the rest back up and running as soon as possible - but it's too early to say how long it will take to clear the backlog."

KFC has set up a web page where "fans" can find their nearest outlet that is still open.

It said that in the restaurants owned by the chain, staff on short-term contracts would be paid the average hours worked per day over the past 12 weeks, while those on salaries would be paid as normal.

However, 80% of KFC outlets are run on a franchise basis.

"Franchisees will be seeking their own independent advice, but we're encouraging them to adopt this policy too," said the chain.

Until last Tuesday, KFC's chicken was delivered by South African-owned distribution group Bidvest, which describes itself as "the leading supplier of logistical and supply chain solutions to the UK hospitality and restaurant sector".

But after the change in the contract, many of the food giant's outlets began running out of chicken products

A Jehovah Witness Died With Her Unborn Child Because Her Husband Won't Allow Blood Transfusion

A man, Ajayi Afolabi, has taken to Facebook to share the story of  how a pregnant woman died at Lagos General Hospital because her husband instructed doctors not to give her blood despite being in need of it. It's such a touching tale! How Ajayi narrated it...

So, I was at a General Hospital in Lagos while an heavily pregnant woman was rushed in on child labour. She was immediately taken to the theater and after some mins, one of the lead doctors came out to request for the husband of the pregnant lady.

DOC: Your wife is short of blood. She needs an immediate blood transfusion.

Husband: Same thing they said from the hospital she has been in the last 3 days of labour. We are Jehovah witness, we don’t accept unknown blood. CONTINUE....


DOC: This is highly important to save your wife’s life and the unborn baby.

Husband: We have worked for the lord with all our strength, he can’t fail us, she can’t die.

DOC: I may need to proceed forcefully if you don’t accept.

Husband: Then be ready to face the law in court.

So the doctor went back to the theater, asked the woman if she has another relative close by who can sign to receive blood while she was wheeled out of the theater. The woman cried with her pale eyes and begged the husband to allow the doctors transfuse but he refused bluntly. I was so angry and I walked up to him. Tried convincing but he was so adamant and stubborn.

Some mins later, the doctors asked him to take his wife to LUTH, for better health care facilities that could condole non blood transfusion. He was requested to get an ambulance for transportation. To my surprise, this nigga got a Volvo stretcher ambulance meant for dead people. Gosh, so angry at this point.

Called a couple of people around and I aided a quick release of a proper life saving ambulance. While wheeling this woman to the ambulance after wasting about 4hours, she gave up in tears and was later confirmed that the unborn baby also died.

Wow! What a wicked world in the name of a borrowed religion. Then the husband bursted into tears. I didn’t do much, I moved close, looked straight into his eyes, slapped and gave him a couple kicks which later threw the whole general hospital into chaos.

I later reminisced over it the following day and asked myself this questions; why would I allow my loved one die in the name of a religion? Should the religion save lives or kill?

Jehovah’s Witnesses are known to refuse transfusion of blood because of their belief. This has led to death of many of them

Man loses custody of his 3 children who who were caught watching porn in Lagos

A mild drama ensued after a man tried pulling a stunt at a police station last week in Lagos state after losing custody of his children to his estranged wife. The man who was accused of abusing and beating his wife was said to have forcefully taken away his three children from his wife and dumped them with his own mother who in turn fed the children with insults and abuses.

According to Human Right Activist, Tina Happiness, the children were sexually abusing themselves after watching porn movie from their aunt’s handset who stay’s in the same house.

The matter was reported at the Police station in Isolo, Aswani Division as the case was charged to court within 48 hours.

It was joy all the way at the first hearing at the Magistrate Court 5, Agege Lagos as the mother was reunited with her children after three years of lament.

Tina Happiness Ukasoanya-Uche shared the news on her Facebook page, she wrote;

Black Panther Hit The BoxOffice With $128M World Record

Disney-Marvel’s Black Panther movie is heading for a super-heroic $218 million debut over the four-day President’s Day weekend at 4,020 North American locations, estimates showed Sunday.

That number means that “Black Panther,” starring Chadwick Boseman and directed by Ryan Coogler, has doubled its original tracking in less than a month.

The film, which carries an estimated $200 million production cost, had been tracking to bring in between an impressive $100 and $120 million when first estimates emerged on Jan. 25.

Since then, “Black Panther” has become a must-see movie for many moviegoers, underlined when Thursday previews brought in $25.2 million, the largest Thursday night preview gross for a February opener and the second-largest preview gross for a Marvel film.

The film’s estimated three-day gross of $192 million is the highest debut ever for a February film and the fifth highest of all time.

Combined with an estimated international debut of $169 million from 69 percent of the international market, the estimated global debut stands at $361 million through Sunday.

“Black Panther” has demolished the record for the largest Presidents Day weekend, blowing past “Deadpool‘s” 2016 mark of $152 million.

Overall North American movie going for the four-day period should hit $300 million — far above the $278 million mark in 2016, according to comScore.

Paul Dergarabedian,senior media analyst with comScore, said:

”This is proof that the big screen experience may arguably be the most powerful platform of change in our society.

The emotional, communal, immersive and bigger than life theatrical experience has an impact that virtually no other medium can match.”

US website Variety.com reports that Comscore’s PostTrak survey of the audience showed outstanding numbers with 77 percent rating “Black Panther” as “excellent” and another 18 percent as “very good.”

Boseman portrays King T‘Challa, ruler of Wakanda, a technologically advanced society, who conflicts with Michael B. Jordan’s Eric Killmonger, who intends to take over the throne.

Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong‘o, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, and Daniel Kaluuya also star.

The Mother of late Ghanaian singer, Ebony Reigns, who died in a road accident on February 8th, has mentioned that her daughter has given her the assurance that she will return.

Madam Beatrice Oppong says the late singer visited her and he mentioned to her that she will be back soon while she was trying to console her.

The grieving mother made this revelation in an  interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM. According to her, her daughter paid her a visit in her dreams and asked her to top grieving. She then went further to say that the singer assured her that she is definitely coming back

She said the singer told her: “Maa m?san aba” to mean ‘Mum I shall return’.

Ebony, died in a fatal accident on her way to Accra alongside her friend and Personal Assistant, with the Air-force personnel that served as a bodyguard to the popular singer.

The singer would have celebrated her 21st birthday on the 16th February. Despite her demise, friends and families gathered together to celebrate the singer. Her mother, Beatrice Oppong wished her late daughter a happy birthday “wherever she may be” and said she really loves her.

Madam Beatrice had earlier visited the scene of the accident to ascertain for herself what caused the death of her beloved daughter. It was noted that the accident could have been avoided if the contractor that was handling the road construction had taken enough time to complete the road project.

The vehicle that Ebony Reigns was traveling in was reported to have had a head-on collision with another bus on the other lane just as they tried to avoid a heap of sand that was on their lane.

She said:

“I hereby call on all the authorities entrusted with safety and maintenance on our roads to be proactive. Everyone involved in road construction must take safety seriously to ensure that the live of the roads users are not endangered.

Give me Shekau- Buratai Challenge Nigeria Army

Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has restated his order to troops to capture Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau dead or alive.

Gen. Buratai spoke at Camp Zairo, the former command and control centre of the terrorists in the Sambisa forest during an operational visit to troops.

In 2017, the army chief gave troops a 40-day ultimatum to capture Shekau. The army last week offered a N3 million reward for information on the terrorist.

Troops destroyed the camp in January in an operation tagged “Deep Punch II’’ and are now dominating the general area of the forest.

The military sacked Shekau from the camp in December, 2016 but the terrorists have been launching pockets of attacks.

Other locations visited by Gen. Buratai are Bita and Tukumbere, all settlements within the forest but almost deserted due to the insurgency.

“Let me say congratulations. But, we must move across to wherever this criminal, Shekau is and catch him red handed. I want you to get him.

“Mr President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces says ‘congratulations’ to all of you for recovering the Sambisa Forest.

“As far as we are concerned, we have come to the end of this operation (clearing the forest of remnants of terrorists).

“What is remaining now is the Lake Chad waters only and we hope to do that (clear terrorists from it) also very soon.

“You all know these criminals are still on the run; these guys are on the run, you must make sure that you get them wherever they are around this area.

“You must not allow them to escape. Everyday, you must go on patrol, lay ambush for them and you go on raids.

“This is the time we have to consolidate and ensure that this place – Sambisa forest – is safe and never for these criminals to come back to it,’’ Gen. Buratai told the troops.

Sex Worker Suffer From Stomach Ache After Insisting Customer Drink Her Urine Due To His Inability To Pay

                                    

A man identified as Ifeanyi Akpor in Asaba, Delta State has been allegedly maltreated by sex workers at a popular brothel he regularly visits for sex. He was allegedly forced to drink water used in washing private part by the group of commercial sex workers.

The incident allegedly occurred at the popular Cable Point Joint in Asaba where hundreds of commercial sex workers eke out a living for themselves.

Eyewitness said the victim, who was rescued by security agents, was a regular customer at the brothel and he is fond of not paying for services rendered to him.

But this was not to be as the fateful Sunday turned out to be the worst moment in his life after he attempted not to pay the lady (name withheld), a mother of two children failed. Expectedly, the victim was said to have approached the sex worker for a round of sex and was given a bill of N3,000 which he obliged, and paid.

It was learnt that the first-round agreement allegedly terminated in a twinkle of an eye, but the victim pleaded for extra rounds, and a bill of N6, 000 was given to him.While his intercourse with the woman lasted, the commercial sex worker became uncomfortable with his action, especially his purported refusal to ejaculate, thereby pushing him off her to the ground.

Sources said the victim allegedly struggled to have his way, but met a brick wall. He got angry and vowed not to pay the N6, 000.

The eye witness said that the prostitute engaged the man in a shouting match that attracted her “colleagues” to the scene where the victim was forced to drink the water.

Police officers at the “A” Division who did not want their names in the print, confirmed that the matter was being investigated, adding that the suspect and her cohorts were quizzed before granted bail.

The man, when contacted, was reported to have spoken out about the incident;

The suspect breached our agreement, when I insisted I must complete sex, they all beat me up and forced me to drink water used in washing their private parts. Since then, I took ill and began to have running stomach”

Unemployed Man Remanded In Igbosere Court For Robbing Bishop Of $500

                               

A Lagos High Court in Igbosere Wednesday remanded an unemployed man, Soliu Adeniran, who allegedly robbed a cleric of $500 at gun point.

Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile made the order following Adeniran’s arraignment for conspiracy and armed robbery by the Lagos State Government.

Justice Okikiolu-Ighile remanded Adeniran in prison custody and adjourned till May 7 for trial.

Earlier, prosecuting Counsel J. A. Koku and S. O. Fashola said the defendant and his accomplices, who are at large, committed the alleged offences at about 5:45pm on February 17, 2014 at the Festac Extension area of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area (LGA).


They accused Adeniran and his gang of accosting the cleric, Bishop Ray Bakeh, on the street and dispossessing him of his phones, wristwatch and wallet containing $500 cash.

According to the prosecutors, the offences contravened sections 295 and 295(2)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

An Ado-Ekiti Customary Court has dissolved the 12-year marriage between Mrs Toyin Adaraloye, and her husband, Ifeoluwa Adaraloye, over lack of adequate care for their children and ‎constant fighting.Toyin told the court to dissolve the marriage because she was already pregnant for another man.The marriage produced three children, namely: Opeyemi, 11, Joy, 8, and Posi,6.Toyin, 34, a hairdresser, who resides at No. 5, Acuna St., Ekute Quarters, Ado-Ekiti, in her petition, said after their traditional engagement, they had three children.Toyin said that she was no longer interested in the marriage because her husband refused to take care of the children.She also said that she no longer loves Adaraloye because they fight frequently over his refusal to adequately take care of the children.Toyin told the court to dissolve the marriage because she was already pregnant for another man.She also prayed the court to award the custody of the children to her to enable her to take good care of them.Toyin requested for N10,000 as monthly upkeep for each of the children, adding that  Adaraloye should also be responsible for the education of the children at all levels.Adaraloye, 38, a furniture maker, who resides at No. 7, Igirigiri area of Ado-Ekiti, denied all the allegations leveled against him.He told the court that he paid N5,000 as dowry which had since been returned to him, adding that since then he did not know the where about of the petitioner and his three children.Adaraloye requested for the custody of the three children, assuring the court that he would remarry in April because he already had a lady that he wished to marry.The respondent said if he was eventually denied the custody of the children, he would pay N2,500 for each of the children as their monthly upkeep.He also assured that he would be responsible for the education of the children at all levels.The court’s President, Mr Joseph Ogunsemi, said that the marriage had broken down irretrievably and consequently dissolved the union.He awarded the custody of the only male child of the marriage, Posi, to the respondent, while the custody of the other two female children Opeyemi and Joy was awarded to the petitioner.Ogunsemi ordered the respondent to pay N5,000 as monthly upkeep on each of the two female children, and that the payment should commence from February.The president also ordered the respondent to be responsible for the education of the three children at all levels and ordered that the parties should have unrestricted access to the children

Revenge-Seeking Youths Break Into Homosexual Doctor’s House, Arrested

Policemen attached to the Federal Housing Unit, Cross River State have apprehended two youths, who broke into the home of a medical doctor “to avenge several instances of sexual harassment.”

The youths, Sam Williams, 26, and Archibong Ita, 25, hail from Akwa  Ibom and Cross River states respectively, according to the police.

While Williams is a Computer Science graduate from the North America University in Benin Republic, Ita claimed to be a student at the University of Calabar.

Southern City News learnt that they were caught by the police at 7am on Monday in the doctor’s residence located along Lemna Road in the Calabar Municipal Local Government Area.


The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa,said the suspects were caught after the residents raised the alarm.

“They were caught robbing a compound occupied by a medical doctor on Monday at about 7am. They were caught with machete and change-over switches. They tied the security guard when they entered the compound.

“It was already dawn; so, people raised the alarm and the police intervened swiftly. One of them, identified as Jibril, escaped. We are still investigating the matter,” he said.

But reacting swiftly to the claims of the police, the suspects said they were not robbers, but were on revenge mission to deal with the medical doctor whom they alleged had sexually assaulted them several times.

Williams said they had gone to attack the medical doctor (name withheld) for sexually harassing him and several others.

“This is the first time I got involved in this kind of thing. I know the medical doctor. He has sexually harassed me a couple of times. I have stopped practising homosexuality, but he kept harassing me. He had his way; so, I had to stay away from him because I knew what he stood for.

“We did not really go there as armed robbers. We had wanted to teach him a bitter lesson. I feel justified for what I had gone there to do. Although I regret this move now that I was caught,” he said.

Ita said, “I am not into robbery. I was caught because I made some wrong moves. It is the first time I would be making this wrong move. I never expected that the outcome would be this way that was why I took part in it.

“I had worked for this medical doctor for a while; we worked for him. He has been maltreating his boys. The last time we brought some boys to him, he maltreated them. He kept harassing them with sex.

“He has done it to so many others. The same doctor has done the same thing to us. So, our move was to punish him for what he paid for.”

Mind you business- Benue State Governor Ortom Slam Lalong

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has told his counterpart in Plateau State, Mr. Simon Lalong, to ‘mind his own business’ and not to interfere with the issue of Benue.

Ortom handed this warning to the representative of Lalong at the stakeholders’ meeting with the National Economic Council Technical Committee on Herdsmen/Farmers’ Crises Resolution.

The stakeholders were led by the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi.

Ortom said his deputy, Benson Abounu, informed him about the discussion between him and Lalong, where the Plateau State Governor reiterated his warning to Ortom not to go ahead with the Benue State anti-open grazing law.


Ortom said, “My deputy told me that he had a discussion with Lalong recently at a function, where he (Lalong) said that he had to apologise to me over his statement because of pressure on him, saying, he stands by his earlier statement.

“He also told the people that he introduced this woman (pointing at the woman on the high table) in this committee to me, whereas, this woman was introduced to me by Nasir el-Rufai, not him.

“Thank God he has a representative here; please tell him to stop interfering with the affairs of my state; let him mind his business in Plateau and I will mind my own business here.

“I am the governor here (Benue); how can he say that he warned me? Who is he to warn me? He can only advise me.”

Lalong had at the peak of the herdsmen’s attacks on Benue State told newsmen in Abuja that he warned Ortom against the new law.

The Benue State Police command has said that the body of one of the officers it declared missing after an attack by Fulani herdsmen on Saturday night at the Azege-Ayilamo community in the Logo Local Government Area of the state had been found.

In a statement by the command spokesman, ASP, Moses Yamu, in Makurdi on Monday, the command lamented the death of one of the missing policemen.

Yamu stated, “He was found brutally slaughtered, with both eyes and ears as well as nose removed. We pray that God Almighty grants him eternal rest.”


The command said that it remained committed to its statutory and daunting obligation of ensuring security of lives and property in the state.

The command had stated on Saturday that suspected herdsmen had ambushed a patrol team at Azege Ayilamo in the Logo council area with four of its men missing.

Two of the missing policemen were said to have been rescued on Sunday.

In a related development, suspected Fulani herdsmen, on Monday, shot and killed two officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, who were on special operations at the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The incident, according to a security source, occurred at Awamye near Kasseyo village in the local government area.

The victims were said to have been ambushed by suspected Fulani herdsmen at a stream in Awanye.

The source said, “Security men within that community have been going to the stream to bath and what they used to do is while some are taking their bath others will be on alert keeping watch.

“So, the victims were bathing while two other colleagues were keeping vigil when suddenly suspected herdsmen who had laid an ambush attacked them and killed the two, while others escaped.”

When contacted, the state command PRO, Peter Adakole, confirmed the incident.

He added that the command had dispatched a team to the area to get accurate information about what led to the death of the men.
