Burial poster of man allegedly killed by SARS operatives in Ogun State lailasnews 3

A man identified as Kazeem Hakeem was allegedly killed by SARS operatives in Ogun State for a crime he was reported not to have committed.
According to a friend of the deceased identified as Dewunmi Lagos, who took to Facebook to narrate the story, the deceased was being tortured by the Federal SARS officers at their office and he tied upside down. Kazeem was alleged to have died after the SARS officers untied him and he hit his head on the floor.
READ HIS POST BELOW
I know kazeem very well, he’s one of the most gentle soul I’ve known. He looks rough but he’s so gentle, when we were talking sometime back in 2014 about election he asked me for MTN recharge card and I said he is richer than I am then he dragged my pocket and took the money from me and from there we got talking.
I’ve met with him at Lagos garage in ijebu ode so many times and he is always hailing me.
He was robed and arrested by FSARS squad, he was tied upside down and was tortured badly to confess what he knew nothing about, when they untied him, on getting down his head was smashed on the floor and he died.
A letter has been forwarded to the secretary to the governor’s office (Ibikunle Amosun) and when he got the letter he said today in Ogun state Exco meeting will be for a short while because he wants to be present at the chief judge presiding over the matter today.
The chief judge requested the corpse be brought to the court today and all the officers who arrested him and those who tortured him.
We hope this will be a lesson to other security officers who think they can go Scotfree. Everyday for the thief and one day for the owner.

Olamide Late Mom Finally Laid To Rest

See photos from the burial of Olamide's mother. Lailasnews
Indigenous rapper and YBNL boss, Olamide has laid his mother to rest in a very private ceremony last Thursday, April 5th, at the Ikoyi Cemetery. Being a very quiet and private one, the ceremony had only close family and friends in attendance.
The rapper who was very close to his mother when she was alive, also felt her presence when she had died, and as such, chose to keep the details of her death private. His mother, whose cause of death is still unknown to the public, died on 30th January, 2018. That day was coincidentally his son, Maximilliano’s, birthday.
It was gathered that the rapper’s mother, Ronke Osisanya Adedeji, reportedly died from an undisclosed illness. According to multiple sources close to the rapper, his mother “had been sick for some time” before she passed away.
Although our reporters could not ascertain if she died on Monday or Tuesday to be specific, a source said that “her illness grew worse in recent weeks, and that she was confined to a wheelchair before she died”.
Olamide’s late mother is the second wife of his father who is also deceased, and she is survived by three children; the rapper, an elder sister,  and DJ Enimoney. His father passed away in 2015.
Hours after celebrating the birthday of his son, Maximilliano on Instagram, he announced her passing with a black Instagram post and wrote,
“Orisa bi iya o si ”, which was transcribed to mean,
“There’s no idol like a mother,”  in English language.
Both Olamide and DJ Enimoney shared pitch black images on their respective Instagram pages that black day.
According to reports reaching us at lailasnews.com, pressmen were not allowed into the burial premises, as it was strict private and for family members and invited friends alone. May her soul find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.

Zuckerberg Meets Lawmakers In Secret Before Public Showdown As Face Book Is Hit By Another Data Scandal

Image result for Zuckerburg in Court

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is trying to earn some 'likes' from lawmakers, meeting privately Monday with some of those who will question him on the firm's privacy scandal later this week.

The secret Monday meetings come in advance of Zuckerberg's Tuesday testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee and Wednesday before a joint hearing with the Senate Judiciary and Commerce panels.

The closed-door meetings run through Monday afternoon and include some of the members who will question Zuckerberg, Reuters reported.

The world's fifth richest man is being coached by a team of experts and a former George W. Bush aide about how to handle lawmakers waiting for the chance to interrupt him or bash Facebook's security practices.

He has retained a team from the top law firm WilmerHale as well as outside consultants. It even set up mock-hearings with consultants playing members of Congress, the New York Times reported.

The behind-the-scenes prepping comes as Zuckerberg negotiated a media tour in which he accepted responsibility and the firm put out the bad and then worse news of how many millions of people had their data compromised.

'Their goal is to make Mr. Zuckerberg appear as humble, agreeable and as forthright as possible,' the Times reported, in a report sourced to people close to the operation.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Saturday arrested a suspected fraudster, Samson Otuedon, at Masaka, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State for currency counterfeiting.

Mr Otuedon, who allegedly specialised in counterfeiting foreign currencies, was apprehended following an intelligence report on the activities of a syndicate of fraudsters duping unsuspecting victims in the Masaka area of the state.

The commission, upon the receipt of the report swung into action by putting the area under surveillance, an action that led to the eventual arrest of the suspect on Saturday.

Upon arrest, over $400,000 (Four Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) were recovered.

While being interrogated, Mr Otuedon admitted that the fake dollars were given to him by other members of his syndicate based in Lagos.

Mr Otuedon, who confessed to the crime, also admitted that the syndicate use fake dollars for money doubling.

The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Policeman, OPC member, 3 others killed In Prince Buruji Kashamu Campaign activity in Ogun State

News report have been gathered that a police inspector, a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and four others have been shot dead in the wake of the cult violence that erupted in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The gun battle, which started on Sunday evening at Oke-Sopen area of Ijebu-Igbo, continued till the early hours of Monday. Our reporters gathered that the crisis was caused by a political rally organised in Ijebu-Igbo by the Senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Prince Buruji Kashamu.

The deadly fight that brought panic and unrest to the town has left several other persons with some degrees of injuries. However, as at press time, soldiers and armed policemen had already been deployed in the town to restore law and order.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the violence yesterday, said that the perpetrators would soon be fished out and brought to book. As opposed to circulating information, Oyeyemi, who stated that the Area Commander, Ijebu-Ode had been directed to move to the town, said that only three persons died in the clash.
According to him, a police inspector, one OPC member and a suspected cult member were the only people who lost their lives in the ugly incident. The police spokesman has advised residents to not panic, reassuring them that adequate security measures had been put in place to check violence.
We gathered that the violence was a result of longtime animosity between cultists and members of local security outfit in the town. We learnt also that Sunday’s violence erupted at the PDP rally when suspected cult members spotted a vigilante operative and attacked him.
The vigilance operative was said to have been fingered in the killing of a notorious cult leader in the town about three months ago. Therefore, the murder of the vigilante gave rise to further attacks and reprisals that led to gun battle through the night.
Sources stated that while four persons were shot dead during the clash on Sunday, two other persons were killed in a pre-dawn attack launched on Monday morning. Two policemen were shot in the clash, leaving one of them dead and the other seriously injured.
A resident said the cult members trailed the OPC operatives attached to Kashamu’s tour to Oke Sopen area of Ijebu-Igbo, where they engaged them in serious gun fight.
As at the time of filing this report, a detachment of soldiers, operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and Anti-cult Unit of the Ogun State Police Command, among others, have been stationed in the town to enforce peace

60 Dead In Indonesia After Drinking Bootleg Alcohol

More than 60 Indonesians are dead and dozens have been hospitalised from drinking illegal homemade alcohol, authorities said on Monday (April 9), with the toll steadily climbing.

Police conducted raids in cities across the world's biggest Muslim majority country to arrest vendors selling the cheap homebrew.

Most Indonesians practise a moderate form of Islam and alcohol is available in big cities.

But high taxes make it expensive so poorly paid workers sometimes turn to potentially dangerous homemade alcohol.

Man Dies After Withdrawing Money From Bank

There was confusion in the Ojota area of Lagos State after a middle-aged man, identified only as Muyibi, collapsed and died in a commercial cab.

Punch Metro learnt that the victim boarded the cab after withdrawing money from a United Bank for Africa branch in the Ogudu area.

The driver was said to have demanded the cab fare from the victim, who was motionless. After reaching the terminus, a resident told Punch correspondent that the driver alighted from the cab to nudge Muyibi, who appeared to be fast asleep.

The resident, who did not want to be identified, said, “The driver had picked some other passengers along the way, and they had all paid and dropped off at their various bus stops.

“When the victim did not respond when they got to the terminus, the driver parked the cab to rouse him, but he was cold. The driver raised the alarm, which drew the attention of commuters and passersby to the scene. People checked him and discovered that the man was dead.”

Policemen from the Ogudu division were said to have been alerted to the incident.

Punch Metro learnt that the vehicle was impounded, while the body was deposited in a morgue.

Punch correspondent could not speak with the chairman of the cab drivers in the area, identified as Mukaila Bankole, as of press time.

However, a source at the park confirmed the incident.

“It happened around 3pm on Friday. The man went to withdraw some money in UBA. The Ogudu Divisional Police Officer was compassionate; she pitied the cab driver, who had become jittery. Although the man was not detained, his cab was impounded at the station pending when the deceased’s family would show up,” he added.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, said the police recovered N100,200 from the victim’s bag.

He said, “The man was on his way to Ojota when he collapsed and died. We recovered the sum of N100,200 from his bag. He also had a phone, which had a new SIM card. There is no contact on the phone and nobody has called him. We have a lead as to where he could be living. His body has been deposited in a morgue for autopsy.”

She was also charged for soliciting bribes from the head of the Samsung Group for government favours.

Former South African president, Jacob Zuma, has appeared in court today to face corruption charges relating to a $2.5 billion arms deal.
Wearing a dark suit, a smiling Mr Zuma waved to crowds of supporters and reporters as he mounted the steps of the High Court in Durban shortly before 0700 GMT today.

Jacob Zuma appears in court to face corruption charges lailasnews
Today in court, Mr Zuma denied any wrongdoing and challenged the decision to prosecute the case, a dramatic development on a continent where political leaders are rarely held to account for their actions before the law.
The speed with which prosecutors booked his day in court is a sign of the loss of control Mr Zuma has suffered since his successor, Cyril Ramaphosa, became head of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) in December.
However, Mr Zuma still retains some popular support, especially in his home province of KwaZulu-Natal, where the case is being heard.

Nigerian Teenager Stabbed To Death In London

An 18-year-old Nigerian, Israel Ogunsola, was stabbed to death on Wednesday night in Hackney, London.

His death, together with the death of a man in his 50s, takes London’s suspected murder toll to more than 50 in just three months.

Ogunsola was said to have approached the police with his knife wounds shortly before 8:00p.m. on Wednesday, following the attack. Officers rushed to his aid in Link Street, in the east London borough. Paramedics and staff from the London Air Ambulance attempted to save his life but he was pronounced dead at the scene less than half an hour later.

His devastated father, Dele Ogunsola, 55, said Israel, who was studying to be a computer programmer, had gone out on his bike with friends but never came home.

Police have launched an investigation into Israel's death and have arrested two teenagers, both 17, on suspicion of murder.

Shockingly, Israel's death is the 55th murder met police have investigated since the New Year.

Holding back tears at his flat just several hundred yards from where his son died, Dele said: "My son was liked by everyone, he was a well brought up boy.

"This must stop, these streets are so dangerous and young people are being slaughtered every day.

"We have to tackle this problem.

"He went out on his bike and never came back, he had lots of friends.

"He was the baby of the house, he has an older brother and sister.

"We are heartbroken."
