Eagles Keeper Ikeme Diagnosed With Acute Leukaemia

Wolves and Nigeria goalkeeper Carl Ikeme is to begin chemotherapy after being diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

The Championship club say Ikeme, 31, returned "abnormal blood tests" during pre-season testing and further checks confirmed the diagnosis.

Ikeme has been with Wolves for his entire career, making more than 200 appearances for Wanderers.

Thirty-three of those came last season, having previously been in the team that won the League One title in 2013-14. "It would be an understatement to say that everyone at Wolves has been shocked and saddened to hear the news of Carl's diagnosis," said Wolves managing director Laurie Dalrymple.


"That relates to both players and staff as Carl has been at the club for a very long time and remains such an integral personality within the group.

"At the same time, we all know what a fighter and a competitor Carl is, and I have no doubt that he will take all of those attributes into this battle.

"Similarly, its goes without saying that Carl and his family will receive the full love and support that we at Wolves can provide - we are all with him every single step of the way towards a full recovery."

Man impregnates housemaid, strangles pregnant wife

The Plateau Police Command on Thursday confirmed the arrest of a 40-year-old man, Victor Dashit, who allegedly strangled his eight months pregnant wife, Irene.
“Victor is in our custody and investigation is on-going. We shall soon take him to court,” its spokesman, Terna Tyopev, said in Jos.
He said that Dashit, a staff of the National Industrial Court, Jos who resides at New Abuja area of Jos, killed the wife, a 33-year-old teacher, at their farm in Kangang, on June 2. The investigation revealed that Dashit, after killing the woman, invited his brother to help him to convey her to hospital after lying that she slumped few minutes after she complained of feeling dizzy.
A family source said that prior to the incident, the couple had faced lots of problems leading to persistent domestic violence. He said that the situation got worse in May 2016, when the deceased caught her husband in bed with their house help, one Nora, in their home.

“The woman woke up one night sometime in May 2016 and did not see her husband on the bed. “ After combing the entire house, she peeped into the house help’s room and found her husband on her,” the source said.

He said that Irene sent the girl out of the house, but the girl came back two months later and told the husband that she was pregnant.

A Facebook user, Paul Baji, has shared the sad news of how five grandchildren of one Mrs Dorothy Agbor died when they reportedly ate a cucumber given to them by their great grandmother. The tragic incident happened in Becheve ward in Obanliku in Cross River State yesterday. Their great grandmother reportedly died on hearing the news that her grandchildren had died.  Here is what Paul Baji wrote;

"JOY OVERWHEM BY TRAGEDY. Sadness has taken over the land of Amana, and indeed the entire Becheve ward in Obanliku HAVe of Cross River State of Nigeria, as 6 grand children of one Mrs Dorthy Agbor from old ikwette village a.k.a Bottom hill residing in Amana have died after eating cocumber. Sources reveal that the children ate the fruit in absence of their grand mother, but under the supervision of their great grandmother as their grandma had attended the burial of one Mr. Emma Kechie. 

On her return the next morning, she discovered that 5 of her grand children were unconscious, she then raised alarm for help. This attracted the attention of friends, neighbors, and colleagues who came to her assistance by rushing the victims to nearby clinics. Few minutes after one female child gave up the ghost. Two hours later, 2 boys followed. As if that was not enough, 4 hours later another female child died. As I speak with you now one of the victims who was undergoing treatment in the hospital has just died. On hearing the death of these children, their great grandmother under whose supervision the children ate the fruit collapsed and died few minutes after, bringing the total number of corpse to 6 from the same house. WHAT A TRAGEDY?. At the moment 4 of the corpse have been taken to old ikwette for burial. This is because the host community ( AMANA ) has objected to the idea of buring them in their land, as it is tragedy. They also say is to avoid future occurance as this kind of thing has never happened in their land before. The question one may be tempted to ask is, who must have destroyed the lives of these future leaders?. Man may not come by the answer anyway, but GOD alone. We pray that the souls of these innocent children rest in peace...... Amen"

It’s like Senator Adeleke’s death has made Davido’s father run mad’ – Osun state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola

The Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has said Dr. Deji Adeleke may have gone mad because of the death of his brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
Aregbesola said this in Ede on Wednesday at the campaign of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Osun West Senatorial District by-election holding on Saturday.
Punch reports that the governor’s vituperation was in reaction to allegation that he owed Deji Adeleke money.
But Aregbesola said he did not borrow any money from Deji at anytime, saying it was the Adelekes that had been collecting money from him.

He said, “Deji Adeleke is a business man, he is not a politician but it is like his brother’s death has run him mad.” (O dabi pe iku egbon e ti da lori ru). It is a lie that I borrowed money from Deji,
“It is to the glory of God that they got the Certificate of Occupancy of their university from our government. Why didn’t those who are their new friends give them C of O of that university? This young boy you see below was spotted at Aluminium village Suleja, Niger state scavenging for food from a refuse bin. He had seen a disposed takeaway pack in the bin, grabbed it and started eating the remains.

Police arrest woman who helped billionaire kidnapper, Evans to escape in 2006

The woman accused of aiding suspected kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeje George Onwuamadike aka Evans to escape justice in 2006 is still in the police, The Nation reports.

It was gathered that the woman, simply identified as Tina, is now a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). She was unmasked by a Special Investigation Panel (SIP) constituted by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris to probe Evans’ 2006 arrest, transfer from Lagos State to Imo State and eventual release.
After the suspect’s arrest last month, a senior police officer told reporters that his team apprehended Evans in 2006 after a bank robbery.
The officer had claimed that Evans and his gang members had a gun duel at the National Theatre in Surulere, Lagos Mainland after a disagreement in sharing their loot, adding that the kingpin was shot and left to die.
According to the officer, Tina, who was a Superintendent of Police (SP) at the time, mounted pressure on them to release Evans and two of his members but when her request was not met, she went through Imo State Command, where a signal was sent for the transfer of the suspects.
As a result of the revelations, IGP Idris constituted a panel to investigate the 2006 arrest, transfer and eventual release of Evans and his members.
The panel was to identify all officers who had a hand in the matter, whether serving or retired.
According to a source, the panel has made “reasonable progress” in its investigation because almost all the officers that took part in the “rape of justice” have been identified.
He said the police might soon release statement on the issue.
The source said:

“I can tell you that Tina is not the woman’s real name but I won’t give you her name. I can also tell you she’s now a CSP and still in service. So many officers took part in that 2006/2007 release of Evans and they are being investigated. The panel has made progress and almost all of them have been identified. An official statement might be release by the authorities soon.”

Mother asks man to pay 800k for impregnating teenage daughter

                      

A mother, Rhoda Joshua of Karu, has asked a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, Abuja, to order John Okechukwu, 27, of Nasarawa State to pay her N 800,000 damages for allegedly impregnating her 14-year - old daughter.
Joshua told the court on Wednesday that her daughter, who was a Secondary School 1 student in a school in Nasarawa State, had been in a sexual relationship with Okechukwu since 2016.

“ My Lord , my daughter has been seeing this guy since last year when she was 13 and as a mother, I noticed she had started having sex with him.

“ I warned her and even beat her to stop it but instead of bringing home a result of flying colours , she brought this pregnancy nine months ago.

“ I kept cautioning my daughter against the relationship and advised her to face her studies because I am a widow but she told me the guy said he wanted to marry her.

“He impregnated her while she was still in school so she had to drop out and since she took in till now that she will give birth he has never given her even one naira for her or the coming baby.

“ I have been the one taking care of her , the pregnancy and her younger one and I have no support from anywhere.

“ So , I am pleading with this Court to order him to pay me the sum of N800,000 in damages for allowing her to drop out of school because of the pregnancy and for not taking any responsibility since my daughter became pregnant and for refusing to marry her.

“ He promised to marry her but since she became pregnant till now that she will soon put to bed, he has refused to even take us to his family members, keep to his promise or take any form of responsibility, ’’ Joshua said.

In his response, Okechukwu said he was not ready to get married but would be giving a little sum for the upkeep of the girl.

“ My Lord, she will have my baby and that is my responsibility and I will be giving a token toward that.

“ Even if I don’t marry her that baby will make our relationship everlasting.

“ I am also a student and cannot get married now but I will try and be giving a token for the upkeep of the baby. I am not sure of the future itself, ’’ he said.

While responding to a question from the court if she was ready to get married to the respondent , the victim said she was not willing to get married to him.

“ I cannot marry him because he did not keep to his words of getting married to me and taking good care of me since I became pregnant rather he denied me and said he can't marry me. ’’

After listening to all involved, the judge, Abdullahi Baba , said the case could only be heard in a customary court.

“ The issue brought by the plaintiff before this court is centred on marriage and this can only be determined by a customary court of law.

‘”So , let this case be transferred to the Customary Court in Karu for a proper trial , ’’ Baba said.

Badoo Cultists Kill Babies, Mother in Lagos Churches in Owode-Onirin (heartbreaking photos)

Suspected Badoo cult members have launched a brutal attack on two churches in Owode Onirin, leaving two babies and a woman dead.
 According to reports, the cult members attacked two orthodox churches – Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Crystal Church of Christ parish; and Celestial Church of Christ, Orisun Ayomi parish – both on Anibaba Street, Weigh Bridge, Owode Onirin.

 PUNCH Metro learnt that in the church, the assailants killed a woman, identified simply as Iya Dabira and her nine-month-old baby, Dabira.

A one year-old boy, Ayomide, was killed as well but his mother, who was also attacked  survives but she is in critical condition at the General Hospital, Ikorodu.

The victims had reportedly attended a vigil at the church where they slept off in the church after the prayer ended at 2am.
The hoodlums reportedly scaled the church’s fence, which bordered an uncompleted building and entered the house of God, smashing a big stone on the heads of the four victims.


A member of the church, Tayo Moses, said Dabira died on the spot.

“The three others were admitted to the general hospital. Dabira’s mother and Ayomide have been confirmed dead. The only survivor is still unconscious,” he added.

Punch correspondent learnt that the pastor in charge of the parish, Pastor Rotimi Ajidara, who lived in one of the apartments on the premises, became aware of the incident around 6am and alerted other residents.
A resident, Mrs. Tolulope Adelaja, said she participated in the vigil, adding that she retired to her apartment when the prayer ended around 2am.

“Around 6am, the pastor alerted me to the incident. We took the victims in my car to Elam Hospital. A doctor at the hospital confirmed Dabira dead and referred others to the general hospital. It was a special vigil and the congregation was few,” she added.

Another resident, Oluwadare Anibaba, noted that members found a stone beside the victims, adding that policemen from the Owode Onirin division took away the stone.

“When the pastor alerted us, we rushed to the church and met the victims in a pool of blood,” he added.

The pastor in charge of the second church attacked by the gang, Prophet Taiwo Adesanya, said the invaders stole some members’ property.
He noted that attacks by the gang might escalate to other parts of the state if stringent security measures were not taken by the government.

He said, “We discovered in the morning that strangers had entered our church and stole mobile phones. Nobody was attacked, but we saw traces of engine oil on the ground. “We were wondering about who the robbers were when we saw a crowd in front of the nearby church. The Lagos State Government should take proactive measures against these criminals. The gang members are gradually moving away from Ikorodu. “They attacked Owode Onirin today, people in Mile 12, Agege, Ikeja and even Victoria Island should be on the alert.”

The Chairman, Idera Tuntun Community Development Association, Owode Onirin, Ganiyu Ogundipe, urged the police to station a patrol van at a strategic junction so that they could quickly respond to distress calls.


A resident, Ayo Folarin, said the attack could have been averted if some landlords had not stopped a vigilance operation initiated by some youths on Monday.

He said, “At about 12pm on Sunday, we accosted a boy who was wandering. When we queried him, he said he was going to visit his brother on Ketu Estate. We checked a small bag with him and found a handkerchief, lighter, kitchen knife and four ATM cards. “As we were questioning him, somebody came and said the boy was not a Badoo member and that we should release him. A few minutes after we released him, it occurred to us that we should have handed him over to the police. We looked everywhere, but we couldn’t find him. We decided that we would guard the community at night. “In the evening, we knocked on the gates of all the residents to come out for the vigil. Only a landlord came out to encourage us. We made bonfires on the road and secured the community till dawn. In the morning (Monday), people blamed us for the bonfires and told us to stop the vigil.”

As the neighborhood discussed the attack, a man who identified himself as a mechanic was accosted by a mob.
He was accused of being a Badoo member and beaten to a pulp until he was rescued and handed over to the Owode Onirin police division
