South African singer Brickz bags 15-year jail sentence for raping 16-year-old relative

                          

South African singer Sipho Ndlovu a.k.a Brickz, has bagged a 15-year jail sentence for raping a 16-year-old relative in 2013.

Brickz was found guilty of raping the victim who bled after the incident as her hymen was broken, as she was a virgin at that time. He reportedly threatened to kill her if she told anyone.

Passing his judgement Magistrate Baloyi, said the victim who was unaware that she had been infected with a sexually transmitted disease, wanted to end her life as a result of the trauma and became fearful of the musician. Though Brick’s cousel argued for a lenient sentence, however Baloyi said the Kwaito star has not shown remorse for his crime and the court has a duty to protect the freedom of women.

Brickz who was all smiles as he walked into court to hear his fate, was first arrested in 2013 after the teenager accused him of raping her in his Johannesburg flat. He denied the charge and the trial lasted for three years. The teenager had lost her parent and had moved in with the Uncle who turned out to be her rapist.

Uber driver killed by security guards around his home while on his way to work in Lagos

Residents of Ikenne/Eloseh street Surulere, Lagos, meted out jungle justice to one of the suspects who reportedly killed an Uber driver, Utibe Akpan while on his way to work on Saturday.

It was gathered that Akpan was stabbed by a security guard identified as Ibrahim Abionu aka Horror, alongside a mechanic. After he was killed, he was put in the booth of his car and dropped in a nearby street, Folawiyo Bankole, after which the suspects fled with his car

However one of the suspects was nabbed this morning, he was beaten to stupor by the residents who recovered an ID card of Horror. He was however saved by the Police, as manhunt has already been launched for Horror who was calling his phone continuously to get information whether the residents of the area have found out. The third suspect is also on the run and the car is yet to be retrieved.

An eyewitness said;

“Only God knows if the owner of the car, that gave Akpan to use as Uber, knows about the situation already. I heard he was just given the car less than a week ago. .
Imagine been killed inside your own street. There have been several robberies and car thefts on the street, without knowing the security guards are responsible for them.”

Mother, 24, allegedly burns two of four kids in oven (Photo)

A 24-year-old mother has been accused of killing her two toddler sons by putting them inside an oven and turning it on.

The suspect, Lamora Williams was arrested on murder charges after 1-year-old Ja’Karter Penn and 2-year-old Ke-Yaunte Penn were found dead in their Atlanta apartment.

According to reports, the two boys were placed in the oven sometime early Friday and were found dead with burn marks on their bodies when cops arrived at the home, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.

Williams called Jameel Penn, the father of her three youngest children, on Friday night to tell him his kids were dead, and he immediately notified the police after seeing the two boys on the floor during the video chat.

The father, mourning the loss of his sons at a vigil on Saturday night, said, “I ain’t got no soul no more.”

Williams and Penn’s 3-year-old son was found unharmed inside the apartment, and her 6-year-old daughter was not home at the time of the deaths, the AJC reported.

Friends and family said Williams suffers from un-diagnosed mental health problems and should be put on suicide watch while she remains in jail.

A 47-year-old businessman, Henry Ekuase, has been brought before an lkeja Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, for alleged fraud.

The police said Ekuase fraudulently obtained the sum of N335m from a Union Bank branch at Marina Stallion Plaza on the Lagos Island.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Henry had acquired the sum as a loan from the bank to trade in beverages.


He was arraigned on Monday on three counts bordering on false pretences and fraud to which he pleaded not guilty.

The police prosecutor, Inspector N. Peter, said Henry committed the offence sometime in November 2016.

He said the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections 285, 314(1)(a)(b)(2) and 322(3) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The charges read in part,

“That you, Henry Ekuase, sometime in 2016, at No. 36, Marina Stallion Plaza, Lagos Island, in the Lagos Magisterial District, with intent to defraud, did obtain N335,363,146.76 from Union Bank Nigeria Plc. with pretence of trading in Nestle products, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 314(1)(a)(b)(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
“That you, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did issue Unity Bank Cheque number 002082091, dated May 31, 2016, for N900,000.00; cheque number 002082090, dated June 24, 2016, for N2,500,000.00, and cheque number 00208209, dated July 26, 2016, for N5,000,000.00; money that you fraudulently obtained from the bank and which was returned unpaid due to insufficient fund standing in the account, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 322(3) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

The shocking moment a New York man was caught on camera hailing a taxi to leave the scene of a car crash while his trapped female friend burned to death nearby has been revealed.

According to Dailymail, the footage shows 23-year-old Saeed Ahmed asking a taxi driver in the middle of a highway if he can get a ride just moments after crashing his car in Brooklyn on Friday night.

The video, which was shot by a witness and obtained by ABC7, shows his car engulfed in flames in the background. The female friend identified as Harleen Grewel, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene after her charred body was found in the front passenger seat by firefighters at the scene.

Ahmad was allegedly weaving in and out of traffic on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway before his 2007 Infiniti G35 hit a barrier. He is said to have escaped the burning wreckage before flagging down the taxi to take him to hospital, leaving Grewel behind in the car. 

Saeed was later arrested at a hospital where he was being treated for burns to his arms and legs following the crash. Ahmad's father has since said he doesn't know what his son was thinking fleeing the scene of the horror crash.

'I don't know what happened yet, I need to see him, talk to him, find out what happened,' Mohammad Azam told the New York Daily News.

He added that he never knows what happens in Ahmad's life and he is often out late with his friends. Meanwhile his brother Waheed Ahmad, 21, told the New York Post that he never fled the crash scene and suffered his injuries trying to save his friend. 

'He did not just run away from the scene. He lost his phone in the car [and was] unable to call the ambulance,' he said. 

'He tried to get her out. That's how his hands and his legs and his neck got burned. He couldn't get her out. The fire got too crazy. It just burned so quick.

'Everything is chaos right now. We are shocked. It's horrifying for the girl and her family.

'He's emotionally distraught. Every time they ask him about what happened, he's crying and screaming. His friend burned alive.'  

Saeed admitted to police that he had been drinking alcohol before the crash but a subsequent blood test revealed he was not legally drunk. He was charged with criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and speeding.

Prison warder commits suicide after her affair with inmate was exposed

A Losperfontein Correctional Centre employee committed suicide on Monday morning after photos of her being intimate with a prison inmate went viral.

Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said it is unclear how the pictures were shared and who shared them.

He further stated that in the case of the inmate involved, an investigation is underway to indicate the violations and to recommend sanctions. 
“The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has been made aware of images involving an official and inmate, from Losperfontein Correctional Centre, in an intimate position circulating on social media,” Nxumalo said.
“As this is disturbing and strictly prohibited, the department condemns this type of behaviour in the strongest possible terms.
“Whilst DCS was busy investigating this matter, we have since learned with shock that the official allegedly appearing on the images has committed suicide.”
Regional Commissioner Mandla Mkabela has expressed grief and sadness at the incident.
”On behalf of DCS, we want to convey our condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased official,” said Mkabela.
“We have dispatched a team of senior managers and our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) specialists to provide necessary support.

LNSC Foils Kidnap Attempt Of 2-Year Old Boy In Orile-Agege [Photo]

Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corp (LNSC) yesterday foiled kidnap attempt of a two-year-old boy, Darasimi Tijani, who was allegedly lured by suspected kidnappers with N50.

It was learnt that the incident occurred at No 90, Oyewole Road, Orile-Agege, about 9a.m. when the kidnappers realised that Darasim’s guardian, Mrs. Fathimo Balogun, went in to attend to the need of other kids.

Passers-by, it was learnt, suspected the kidnappers’ sinister moves and raised the alarm which led to their arrest by a mob.

The swift intervention of the LNSC officers saved the suspects from being lynched while the boy, his mother, Mrs. Wasilat Tijani, and the guardian were taken to LNSC station at Orile-Agege LCDA.


The Chairman of LNSC, Mr. Israel Ajao, who spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Mr Afolabi Olayiwola, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

He said: “LNSC, at exactly 9.30a.m., upon an intelligence information received from the public, arrested two kidnappers at No 90, Oyewole Road, Orile-Agege who lured the little boy, Darasimi Tijani (two years old), with N50 note, when they realised that the guardian, Fathimo Balogun, quickly went in to attend to the needs of other kids.

“Passer-by raised the alarm and the LNSC officers moved to arrest and save the two kidnappers from being lynched by the public. We rescued the boy and the mother, Wasilat Tijani, with the guardian to our station at Orile-Agege LCDA along with the kidnappers.”

According to Ajao, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, preliminary investigation by the agency revealed that one of the suspects speaks Hausa while the other pretends as mad man.

He added: “Our primary investigation revealed that one of the suspects is a Hausa man by name Muritala Lado, who claimed to be a tailor, the second suspect pretended to be a mad man but later mentioned his name as Bassey. They all confessed to have committed the crime. They have all been moved to the Agency Headquarters at Bolade Oshodi for necessary further action.”

Salesman Who Stole £3k Worth Of Designer Clothes Is Jailed For 3 Years

A Selfridges wine salesman who stole £3,000 of designer clothes to fund his drug habit has been jailed for three years.

Jake Coxon, 23, swiped designer clothing from the upmarket department store's Manchester branch, before selling them on the black market.  

He was caught when store managers noticed that a substantial amount of stock had gone missing and installed secret cameras.

Over a two week period they filmed Coxon helping himself to designer Moncler t-shirts, gilets and jackets.


He hid the garments down his trousers and then took them back to his counter at the wine department, where he used a device to remove the security tags.

But he was  caught after managers who noticed £3,000 worth of stock had gone missing, secretly installed spy cameras around the stockrooms to catch the culprit.

Coxon, from Hyde in Greater Manchester, was a talented sportsman and had previously played in the Under 18s squad of the Irish Exiles rugby team.

FIFA to Pay Nigeria N4.5bn For Qualifying For Russia World Cup

                          

Coach Gernot Rohr has warned against another pay strike at the World Cup if the country hoped to improve on their previous outings at the global tournament.

 

At the 2014 World Cup, the Super Eagles skipped a training to protest the non-payment of bonus for qualifying for the tournament forcing the country’s sports minister to fly out by private jet to pay them almost $4 million cash in Brazil.

 

Rohr said he believes the three-time African champions can improve on their best World Cup performance of a Round of 16 by better and early preparation as well as ensuring money issues are sorted out well in advance. Nigeria will be paid a total of $12.5 million by FIFA for qualifying for Russia 2018 with $2.5 million of this amount paid for the Eagles to prepare adequately for the football showpiece.

 

They will earn more cash should they reach the knockout rounds of the tournament as they have done in 1994 and 2014. Nigeria have so far used a total of 37 players for the qualifying tournament for Russia 2018 and they are all entitled to a share of a qualification bonus. Rohr, a 64-year-old Franco-German coach, said he believes that with a fully prepared and united team both on and off the pitch, Nigeria can expect their best performance at next year’s tournament.

 

“If we want to do something at the World Cup, we have to prepare well,” he said.

 

“We want everybody who wants to be part of the team to show the same solidarity we currently have in the team. “More importantly, we don’t want the issue of money to be a problem.

“The issue of bonuses and allowances, which are the usual African problem we see during the World Cup, must be avoided.

“Such issues will be bad for our preparation.

“I have told my officials and the federation president that all (such issues) be cleared before the start of the competition.”

New Details Of Billionaire Kidnapper Evans Girlfriend emerge

It's been awhile since we last heard anything about the billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike (popularly known as Evans). At the point of his arrest we only heard of his wife but now reports about a girlfriend, Amaka Offor, he has has surfaced online.

The Nigeria Police Force has faulted the claim by Counsel to billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike also known as Evans, Olukoya Ogungbeje, that officers of the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team extorted over N50m and other valuables worth millions of naira from his clients.

Ogungbeje had made the claims in a petition to the Police Service Commission, PSC, National Assembly, the Inspector General of Police, the National Human Rights Commission, and the Amnesty International.

Reacting to the allegation, Force PRO, Moshood Jimoh in a statement Sunday night described the allegation as baseless and cry of an already sinking man.

The police spokesman said, “The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to publications in the media on 14th October, 2017 that “Evans’ lawyer accuses police of extorting over N50 million, other valuables” from his client and another report that “Police Sexually molesting Evan’s Girlfriend, Amaka Offor” credited to one Olukoya Ogungbeje.

“The two publications were found out to be absolute falsehood, misleading, unfounded and deliberate attempt to cast aspersion on the thorough and discrete investigation carried out by the Nigeria Police Force in all the offences committed by Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike (popularly known as Evans) who has pleaded guilty in court to multiple kidnappings, murder, armed robbery and other capital offences.

“Virtually all the items erroneously claimed by Olukoya Ogungbeje to have been forcefully and corruptibly extorted from his client were found out to have been exaggerated. For avoidance of doubt, all monetary exhibits and other valuable properties including houses and exotic vehicles were not extorted but recovered by the IGP Intelligence Response Team during the investigation into the several cases of kidnappings, murder, armed robbery and other capital offences linked to Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike (popularly known as Evans) were duly registered and will be tendered in court as exhibits as the trial progresses.

“It is pertinent to disabuse the minds of the public who must have read the story that no police personnel within the team or anywhere else involved in the investigation of all the cases linked to Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike (popularly known as Evans) engage in any sexually molestation of the alleged Evan’s girlfriend Amaka Offor as claimed. This allegation is entirely untrue and incorrect.

“The Nigeria Police Force sees these publications as a deliberate distraction and ill motives by Olukoya Ogungbeje to pervert the end of justice. He is advised to face his client’s case in court and not misleading the public.

“The Force hereby enjoined members of the public to disregard and discountenance the unfounded publications

‘Wonder bank’ operator flees with customers’ savings in Ogun

Traders at Warewa community, in the Obafemi Owode LGA of Ogun State, have been thrown into pain and confusion after a ‘wonder bank’ operator, identified as Ngozi Adline, defrauded them of their hard earned money.

Adline, an Imo State indigene, allegedly swindled traders in the community out of over N2m.

According to Punch, Adline operated under the name Link M Investment Limited, where she had two workers, Oluwatoyin Adebayo and Esther Adelanwa, who go out to collect money from customers.

Adline fled in August 2016 with the N2m collected from some residents of the area. One of the workers, Adebayo, said the fraud was reported at the Warewa Police Station. “We collected money for her (Adline) daily and weekly from customers.

She promised to give those that wanted to save for three months five to 10% interest. We started in April and everything went well, while our customers were satisfied. However, after about four months, we started having problems with the customers.

The issue was that at the end of that month, she refused to bring money for disbursement to customers that needed loans and wanted to collect their savings with interest.

Sometime in August 2016, she absconded with over N2m. We are the ones that the customers know; they don’t really know her. So, we have been struggling to refund them. She has put us in trouble. She is from Imo State.

Policemen followed us to her residence in Ibafo, where we were told that she had relocated. A pepper seller, Jubril Awalu, said he saved about N50,000 at the firm, noting that he also needed the money to boost his trade.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said it was difficult for the police to track down the woman as her operation was not formal.

Thugs gang-rape nurses on night shift in Osogbo, Osun State

                 

Six female nurses were said to have been sexually assaulted at the wee hours of Sunday, September 24, 2017 by suspected thugs who were said to be armed with cutlasses and axes.

Amiloaded gathered from a resident of the area that the incident happened around 12am.
The source explained that a suspected thug earlier made several phone calls to a nurse but she was not picking her calls. So, he decided to check on her at the hospital where she is working.
He stressed that When the man (thug) got to the Atewogbeja hospital, he met with the lady nurse but she bluffed him. This infuriated him and he made some phone calls to members of his gang to meet him at the hospital with dangerous weapons around 11pm.
The source who did not state the point of contact between the nurse and the suspected thug explained that a minutes after he made this call, some fierce-looking suspected thugs besieged the hospital and raped the six nurses on night duty.
“After forcefully having their carnal knowledge, the thugs raided the hospital. They dispossessed patients their money and phones including those of the nurses,” the source added.
While some linked the incident to the incessant clashes between cultists in the area, credible sources close to the State Criminal Investigation Burea (SCIB) confirmed the arrest of some suspects already in connection with the clashes
