Herdsmen Kidnap, Kill Colleague In Ogun

Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping and killing their‎ victim.

Both the suspects and the victim are said to be herdsmen.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on Sunday that the suspects committed the crime on October 23 at Obada-Oko town of the state.

He said they also made away‎ with eight cows belonging to the victim.


“Two herdsmen suspected to be kidnappers and cattle rustlers have been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command in connection with the kidnap and killing of another herdsman by name Taye Amodu,” he said.

“The duo of Hassan Amodu and Abubakar Abdullah kidnapped Taye Amodu on the 23rd of October 2017 at Obada Oko area of Abeokuta and equally made away with eight cows belonging to the victim.”

The suspects’ hideout was located same day following a directive by the commissioner of police, the spokesperson said.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the hideout in a thick forest was stormed by the operatives where the two suspects were arrested.

He said exhibits recovered from them are one pump action gun, four live cartridges and two cutlasses.

“On interrogation, they confessed to have killed the victim because he was struggling with them while they were taking him away and the body has been buried in a shallow grave inside the forest,” he stated.

The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye yesterday addressed the recent tithe controversy that has been generating series of arguments on the social media and advised Christians especially his members on the dangers attached to none compliance to paying of tithe. Adeboye said;

“Avoid divine curse like a plaque, somebody show me something on the internet on the question of paying tithe or not and the fellow said tithe is suppose to be used to buy alcohol and drink in the church.

“Now you know who is talking, even mad people will not come to church to drink alcohol, no matter how crazy that fellow is, asked him to come to church and drink beer, he will tell you that he is not that crazy, because even in his madness, he knows that it is the house of God and he will refuse to do such thing. But this fellow said otherwise that tithe ought to be used to drink alcohol.


“I know who is talking and I did not want to worry myself about such person. But please do not let anybody get you into trouble by attracting God’s curse to yourself, please pay your tithe.”

“I have said it before and I will say it again and again, if your physical father curse you, it can be cancel by your spiritual father, if your spiritual father curse you it can be cancel by the general overseer, if your general overseer curse you, you can fast and pray to your father in heaven but it God curses you, where will you go, he asked.

“There was this boy who was said to have insisted on marrying the girl (Hauwa). They are in the same school. The matter was reported to the school management and the boy was punished and warned to stop harassing the girl.

Later, the girl was abducted and the boy was the prime suspect. The boy was arrested but claimed that the girl ran to the Emir’s palace because she wanted to convert to Islam.

The Emir took her to the Chief Imam; the Chief Imam said the girl was scared but he was asked to take her to the welfare officials instead of keeping her in his custody. We took the statement of everybody concerned. The Chief Imam said there was going to be a meeting on the matter.”

Lamar Odom collapsed at his VIP booth at an L.A. nightclub early Sunday morning, TMZ Sports reports.

Odom was at Bootsy Bellows on the Sunset Strip when several staffers and patrons noticed the ex-NBA star collapsed to the ground around 2 AM. Security rush in to help and he seems to be conscious.

The person who shot the video tells TMZ Sports he saw Odom drinking for several hours before the incident.

But his reps now says he collapsed due to dehydration after an intense workout earlier in the day without the necessary fluids in his system. They also said it was very hot in the club, while adding ... he's "doing great."

 A Saudi Prince, Mansour Bin Muqri, reportedly died in a helicopter crash “while performing an inspection in remote parts of the governorate”.

Spokeswoman for the Saudi embassy in Washington told NBC News, that the crash occurred near the Yemeni border on Sunday afternoon, a day after the Kingdom’s young crown prince ordered a shocking purge of princes and some of the country’s most influential leaders.

This flat was left a squalid mess with mountains of cigarette butts and empty Red Bull cans after it apparently was overrun by squatters.

Stomach-churning photos show thousands of used fags on a table and work top, where dirty plates have been left in the kitchen sink.

There are so many energy drink canisters that the floor isn't visible. Takeaway boxes and more cans and bottles stick out of one of the piles of cigarette butts.

It has been revealed that a computer recovered from Osama bin Laden’s compound in 2011 contained a vast video collection including children’s cartoons and documentaries about himself.

 

According to Reuters, the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) released a list of material found on the computer, which was taken during the military operation in Abbottabad, Pakistan, that killed the al Qaeda leader.

 

Among the 470,000 or so files, the fourth collection to be made public by the US were videos such as children’s films Antz and Cars along with games such as Final Fantasy VII. There were three documentaries on the computer about bin Laden, one was called Where in the World is Osama bin Laden.

 

His son’s wedding video was also among the collection. Some of the material has not been released due to fears of breaching national security, the files were corrupted, or because they were pornographic.

 

CIA director Mike Pompeo said: “Today’s release of recovered al Qaeda letters, videos, audio files and other materials provides the opportunity for the American people to gain further insights into the plans and workings of this terrorist organisation.

 

“CIA will continue to seek opportunities to share information with the American people consistent with our obligation to protect national security.” The release also includes 18,000 documents, including bin Laden’s journal, about 79,000 audio and image files and more than 10,000 videos.

 

The CIA said the material gave an insight into the differences between al Qaeda and Islamic State. It said they also revealed disagreements within the group and its allies and the problems it faced at the time of the death of its leader.

 

Thomas Joscelyn and Bill Roggio, of think tank Defence of Democracies, were allowed to study the trove before it was made public. Mr Roggio said: “These documents will go a long way to help fill in some of the blanks we still have about al Qaeda’s leadership.”

NDLEA Arrests 48 Katsina Students For Drug Abuse

The Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency said it arrested 48 students between January and September this year for drug abuse.

The agency added that between January 2015 and this year, it arrested 1,386 persons aged between 18 and 35 for allegedly engaging in drug abuse.

The NDLEA Assistant Commander in Katsina, Dechi David, said this on Thursday during a campaign against drug abuse, child molestation and barracks sanitation, by the wife of the Inspector-General of Police, Mrs. Asma’u  Idris, who doubles as the President, Police Officers’ Wives Association.


The NDLEA boss said, “The recent global outcry and attention given to drug abuse is sequel to the escalating magnitude with which the monster plagues the world and this gives cause for alarm.

“Abuse of any drug has serious adverse consequences that affect the user, his family and the community.”

Idris noted that Kano and Katsina states ranked high on the list of states with the highest incidences of drugs abuse.

She said this was what informed POWA’s decision to begin the campaign against drug abuse in the North.

The latest victim of Nigerian police’s brutality is singer and crown prince of the Oyo town, Adeyemi Adetona, better known as Tillaman.
He recently alleged that he was  brutalised by the policemen at a checkpoint at Abraham Adesanya Epe, Lagos.

The police men on duty didn’t recognise who he was and he didn’t reveal his identify as well.
In a phone conversation with Pulse, the musician said he had just opened a bar and was coming from the site when he was apprehended by men of the police force close to Abraham Adesanya estate in Lekki, Lagos.
 He explained, “I was trying to stop at the police checkpoint, but there was a trailer coming behind me with full speed, and I was trying to tell the police officers to allow me to pack my car very well because the trailer might have a failing brake since it is coming with full speed. So, I had to use my survival instincts to move the car a bit from the checkpoint.

“Even the policeman ran away from the checkpoint because the trailer kept coming at full speed. The next thing he corked his gun, told me to get down from the car, started searching the car, while he was at that he kept on abusing and cursing me.”
As if that wasn’t enough, he said they wanted his phone, adding that they were not interested to know who he was.
“He asked for my phone, he didn’t even ask me to introduce myself and I was just playing along because I didn’t even introduce myself as the son of the Alaafin of Oyo. While this was going on my friend, a lady was recording everything. He tried to assault her and I just told him that if he was doing the right thing, then you wouldn’t be assaulting anyone.

“The next thing he put the gun on my chest, threatening to kill me. I then used my left hand to remove the gun from him. While we were arguing, other officers came. They came with a tear gas gun. I then introduced myself to their boss who came out of the truck as the son of the Alaafin of Oyo; it is engraved on my body. Their oga who happened to be Yoruba saw it and became scared because the other officer was already dragging me to the station.

“But, the boss after recognising me as the son of the Alaafin of Oyo, decided to walk me down to my car. So, I was like if I was not the son of anybody that’s how they would have handled me anyhow.”
It was learnt from a source that the policemen in that area are known for brutalising young men on the claims of being suspected fraudsters and they must have mistaken Tillaman for a fraudster. The source said when he didn’t seem to comply they decided to give him a dose of beating.
The singer also shared the ugly experience via a post on his Instagram page:
“Police brutality!!! My horrible experience last night at a police check-point at Abraham Adesanya Epe, Lagos…. God
bless Nigeria.”

Lagos Community Boils Over Renaming Of Street After Hotel

There is tension on Abiok Street, in the Ojokoro Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, after the street was allegedly renamed after a hotel in the area.

Punch Metro learnt that after attempts by community leaders to address the issue through letters to the council failed, some youths removed the signage of the hotel, identified as Latest D Hotel.

The action was said to have led to a clash between the youths and supporters of the owner of the hotel, leading to destruction of some property in the community.

Policemen from the Ojokoro division were said to have raided the street and arrested some of the culprits.


A Punch correspondent gathered that the hotel’s signage, which was removed by the youths, had since been returned as residents reportedly prepared for another showdown with the owner of the hotel.

A resident, who did not want to be identified, said the clash occurred on a Thursday.

He said, “On Thursday, October 19, some youths who were angry about the alleged compromise of some council officials, removed the signage of the hotel at the junction. They replaced it with that of Abiok Street. The action led to a fight and destruction of property. The police were brought in and many of the youths were arrested. They were released the following day.”

A community leader, Alhaji Jimoh Lawal, said Abiok Publicity Limited was the name of an outdoor advertising company he co-founded with another community leader, late Alhaji Kehinde Olasode.

He said the street was registered in the company’s name by the Ikeja Local Government Area in 1989, long before the creation of the Ojokoro council area.

He explained that Latest D Hotel was not located on Abiok Street to have warranted the change of name.

He said, “There was no notice; we were neither served nor invited, and no public statement was issued about the intention of the LCDA to change the name of the street. We woke up one day and saw that Abiok signage had been replaced with that of Latest D.

“I learnt that the exercise was carried out in a commando manner. We were even told that we would never get justice even if we take the case to Aso Rock Villa.

“The hotel in question is not on Abiok Street. The act is purely a case of oppression. We have gone to the police, talked to the Community Development Association and visited the council. They have not done anything about it.”

The Secretary of the community, Mr. S.O. Awoyinfa, said the council had promised to address the issue after another meeting.

“We had the meeting last week and they promised to remove the hotel’s name. We don’t want to take the law into our own hands because the youths are restive over the matter,” he said.

But the elder brother of the owner of the hotel, Chief Agbeleja Disu, said the matter was being resolved, adding that the hotel did not do anything wrong.

He said, “The case is not difficult. Latest D did not take over the street. Abiok is still the name of the street. It was because of the establishment of the hotel that the owner asked the council for a part of the street that was not occupied with houses. Abiok was just moved a little further.

“The DPO, community leaders and Abiok himself (Lawal) saw we did not take over the street. We want to tile the place and put streetlights there and that was why we were given that particular portion. We didn’t bring anything into this world and we wont take anything when we die. We didn’t want this matter to get this far until some thugs were used to create tension, which made the police to intervene. But the matter is being resolved.”

The Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hammed Tijani, said he was expecting a report of the committee he set up to look into the case.

He said, “When the petition came in, I asked the Head of Administration, along with the legislative arm to handle the matter. I think they have met and resolved. I am expecting a report from the committee.”

Belgian Footballer, Joel Lobanzo Dies @ 17

Belgian footballer Joel Lobanzo has passed away after suffering a heart attack during training. The Royal Antwerp player died a day after collapsing during an under 19 session aged just 17.

Club doctors treated him immediately at the training centre on Tuesday night before he was transferred to hospital but tragically died on Thursday morning.

A statement on the club's website said: "From respect for Joel and his family, the club wishes to limit communication.

"A time of mourning breaks, which we want to spend all serenity. We convey our deepest feelings of compassion to Joel's family and friends."

South African church where people are baptized using their favorite beer

                           

A South Africa church is currently making rounds online after its unconventional way of baptizing its faithful  with their favorite alcoholic drink instead of water hit the net.

52-year-old Bishop Tsietsi Makiti, who is the founder of the church known as Gabola and the brain behind the idea says that the congregants at the Church have also been given a go-ahead to drink alcohol during church services.

According to online reports, Bishop Makiti’s church has witnessed its membership rocket to over 500 members in just under two months due to the beer baptization,

He says he was motivated by the scriptures narrating how Jesus changed water to wine.

He added;

People who drink and get baptized by beer are happy and peaceful. This means they are living in the shadow of God.The church accommodates people who are not welcome at other churches.Its name ‘Gabola’ is the Tswana word for drinking. There is only one branch at the moment but the Bishop is looking forward to expanding it further.
