Homeless man treats himself to £400 meal at 5 star hotel then walks out without paying

A homeless man with a taste for the finer things in life walked into a five-star hotel, ordered a steak and bottle of Dom Pérignon champagne then left without paying.

Michael Andrew Phillips, 52, ran up a £400 bill when he decided to treat himself to a slap-up meal at the posh Old Court House hotel in Jersey.
Staff told him he was not allowed to remain in the bar without ordering food so he ordered prawn cocktail, ribeye steak and several drinks including champagne.
He then asked for a room in the £150-a-night hotel overlooking St Aubin harbour, before ordering two more bottles of wine. Phillips handed over his driving licence as proof of his identity but then walked out of the hotel without paying, taking the wine with him.
He was tracked down and charged with criminally and fraudulently obtaining food and lodgings. Phillips, of no fixed above, admitted the offences at the island’s magistrates’ court.
Centenier Amanda Wright said:

‘He had prawn cocktail, ribeye steak, wine and a bottle of Dom Pérignon. ‘The bill was not paid and he asked for a room. He gave his driving licence as identification and had two bottles of unopened wine on him as he headed toward the hotel room.”
Mrs Wright said that there was no sign of him in the hotel the next morning and no indication he had slept in the bed. Phillips was later arrested and positively identified by staff. He told police he had very little recollection of the evening.
Advocate John McCormick, defending, said Phillips suffered from mental health problems and had not been taking the correct medication at the time.
He said:
‘My understanding is that he is currently excluded from the various shelters and that includes Sanctuary House.’
The court arranged for Phillips to attend an immediate appointment at the community mental health services who would try to find accommodation for him.

Magistrate Bridget Shaw told Phillips:

‘You were not on the right medication at the time. ‘As long as you keep taking your medication, there is no reason to believe that you will do anything like this again.’ She ordered him to repay the hotel compensation equal to its losses and he was bound over to be of good behaviour for 12 months.

Former TOWIE star Kate was wrapped up against the cold in a black puffa jacket worn over a long black tunic, black leggings and matching thigh-high boots.

She ditched the usual makeup for her casual look and carried a couple of bottles of drink in one hand while toting a designer handbag in the other.

Her long blonde hair was left down and staightened for the low-key look.

Rio, meanwhile, walked a couple of steps behind her and was dressed for comfort in a pale grey zip-down hoodie and jogging bottoms, carrying a takeaway coffee as he and his reality star girlfriend browsed the Christmas markets.

Man Finds His Car 20 Years After Forgetting Where He Parked It

A man has finally found his car after forgetting where he parked it - 20 years ago. The unnamed 76-year-old reported his motor missing to cops in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1997, according to reports.

And on Wednesday the old banger was finally found in the garage of a building earmarked for demolition, The Local reports.

In fact, the only reason it was discovered was reportedly because it was holding up the workmen waiting to knock the building down.

The company was forced to find out who the car belonged to - and the man received a call telling him his long-lost ride had been located.

It turned out the dopey driver parked the car there nearly two whole decades ago but forgot where he had left it.

But the mystery motorist has chosen not to keep the vehicle, which no longer works.

Frankfurt authorities said: “The car can no longer be driven and will be sent to the scrap heap.”

A Brit was involved in a similar incident last year when he forgot where he parked his car in Manchester - only to have it returned by cops after six months.

Student kidnaps teenage Facebook Lover after visiting his Home, Demands N4m Ransom

A 16-year old girl, Victory (surname withheld) has tasted the ugly side of social media after she was reportedly kidnapped by her Facebook lover in Edo state, by a man she met on Facebook.

In a report by PM News, the 24-year old kidnap suspect, Michael Duda, was paraded in Benin, by the Edo State Police Command on Thursday, alongside 104 suspects arrested for various crimes, ranging from kidnapping, rape, armed robbery and cultism at the headquarters of the Edo Police Command.

Micheal, an OND graduate of Business Administration from the Federal Polytechnic Auchi, said he got to know Victory whom he met on Facebook, after she accepted his friend’s request.

He said as their friendship grew stronger, he decided to invite her to his house which she accepted.

He however denied that he abducted her against her wish, adding that both of them planned her kidnap to raise money.

The teenage kidnap victim who admitted that they became friend through Facebook, said Micheal invited her to come to his house, which she obliged.

She said getting there, Michael abducted her and kept her for four days, sexually assaulted her and also demanded for N4 million for her release.

“On Thursday, at Ebike village, Ogheghe, bypass, Benin City, Michael, deceived me by inviting me to his house and when I got there, he told me we should plan kidnapping so that I should stay in his house.

“I met Michael on Facebook last month through a friend request he sent me which I accepted.

“I spent four days in his house. He made a call to my father and asked him to pay the sum of N4 million into his own account. He forced me into sleeping with him,” she narrated.

Michael however denied demanding for N4 million ransom, saying that he demanded for “just N2 million.”

“I live at Ekae community, off Sapele road. She came to my house. We planned to collect money from her father to raise money for our marriage but I did not collect the money again. She stayed in my house for four days.

“I couldn’t tell the father I want to marry his daughter. She said her father would not support the idea because she was yet to go to the university. She was with me for four days. The man said he has no money to pay. I was at home with the girl when police came and arrested me.”

Elder sister of Victory, who gave her name as Rodha, said her sister was sexually abused before the police rescued her.

On the alleged plans by the two lovebirds to get married, she said: “My sister is 16 years old and has never slept outside before. She told me they met on Facebook and the boy professed love for her. When she went to the house, she said the boy hatched the plan and said he would collect N10,000 from our father but the boy demanded for N4 million.

“He will lock her inside the house and called us, threatening that he will kill her if we did not pay. He took advantage of my sister’s condition.

“She told me the boy is 21 and a student, but she later saw that it was a lie. We took her for treatment after the rescue.”

The State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, who paraded the suspects to journalists, called on the members of the public to furnish the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of all criminal elements in the state.

He said the command is ever ready to partner relevant bodies in the state to get rid of crimes and criminality in the state, adding that the suspects would soon be charged to court.

Saudi Arabia King To Step Down Next Week & Hand Over Crown To 32-Year-Old Son

The King of Saudi Arabia plans to step down and announce his son as his successor next week, a source close to the country's royal family has exclusively told DailyMail.com.

The move is seen as the final step in 32-year-old Prince Mohammed bin Salman's power grab, which began earlier this month with the arrests of more than 40 princes and government ministers in a corruption probe.

The source said King Salman will continue only as a ceremonial figurehead, handing over official leadership of the country to his son - often referred to as MBS.

'Unless something dramatic happens, King Salman will announce the appointment of MBS as King of Saudi Arabia next week,' said the source.

'King Salman will play the role of the queen of England. He will only keep the title "Custodian of the Holy Shrines",' the source added.

Robert Mugabe resisting Army pressure to quit

Image result for Robert Mugabe & the military
President Robert Mugabe is insisting he remains Zimbabwe’s only legitimate ruler, an intelligence source said on Thursday, and is resisting mediation by a Catholic priest to allow the 93-year-old former guerrilla a graceful exit after a military coup.
The priest, Fidelis Mukonori, is acting as a middle-man between Mugabe and the generals, who seized power on Wednesday in a targeted operation against “criminals” in his entourage, a senior political source told Reuters.
The source could not provide details of the talks, which appear to be aimed at a smooth and bloodless transition after the departure of Mugabe, who has led Zimbabwe since independence in 1980.
Mugabe, still seen by many Africans as a liberation hero, is reviled in the West as a despot whose disastrous handling of the economy and willingness to resort to violence to maintain power destroyed one of Africa’s most promising states.
Zimbabwean intelligence reports seen by Reuters suggest that former security chief Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was ousted as vice-president this month, has been mapping out a post-Mugabe vision with the military and opposition for more than a year.
Fuelling speculation that that plan might be rolling into action, opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, who has been receiving cancer treatment in Britain and South Africa, returned to Harare late on Wednesday, his spokesman said.

South Africa said Mugabe had told President Jacob Zuma by telephone on Wednesday that he was confined to his home but was otherwise fine and the military said it was keeping him and his family, including wife Grace, safe.
Despite the lingering admiration for Mugabe, there is little public affection for 52-year-old Grace, a former government typist who started having an affair with Mugabe in the early 1990s as his first wife, Sally, was dying of kidney disease.

Dubbed “DisGrace” or “Gucci Grace” on account of her reputed love of shopping, she enjoyed a meteoric rise through the ranks of Mugabe’s ruling ZANU-PF in the last two years, culminating in Mnangagwa’s removal a week ago – a move seen as clearing the way for her to succeed her husband.
In contrast to the high political drama unfolding behind closed doors, the streets of the capital remained calm, with people going about their daily business, albeit under the watch of soldiers on armoured vehicles at strategic locations.
Whatever the final outcome, the events could signal a once-in-a-generation change for the former British colony, a regional breadbasket reduced to destitution by economic policies Mugabe’s critics have long blamed on him. (Reuters)

North Korea Says Trump Deserves To Die For Calling Kim Jong-un Short & Fat

North Korea says Donald Trump should be sentenced to death after calling maniac despot Kim Jong-un 'short and fat'.

The over-the-top response comes days after the US president whined on social media that Jong-un had called him "old," before noting that he had refrained from commenting on the dictator's height and weight.

After seeing Trump's tweet, The North Korean Workers' Party newspaper Rodong Sinmun declared that Trump had now been "sentenced to death by the Korean people."

It added: "The worst crime for which he can never be pardoned is that he dared [to] malignantly hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership.

"He should know that he is just a hideous criminal sentenced to death by the Korean people."

The petty war of words between the two leaders has been escalating since Trump took to power in November last year.

Since becoming president, Trump has engaged in an escalating war of words with Kim Jong-Un, trading personal insults and threats of military strikes and raising concerns about an outbreak of hostilities.
