Man Fined £45,000 For Sharing Live Streams Of Sky Sports

A man has been slapped with a £45,000 fine for sharing live streams of Sky Sports. Waqas Rasheed was found guilty of breaching the company's copyright after sharing broadcasts from the then Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 channels in March and April last year.

He shared the streams on website IPTVdonations.com for other people to illegally watch.

Rasheed claimed he had accidentally created the streams while trying to watch Sky Sports for free online, but the judge shot down his excuse.

Mr Rasheed also skipped his hearing in March without explanation, with a judge ruling in his absence that he had no defence.

The ruling has come before World Intellectual Property Day on April 26, set up to 'raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life'.

Kieron Sharp, Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) chief, acknowledged that the public still has a lot to learn with regard online piracy.

“This result is an excellent example of just how serious an issue illegal streaming is," he said.

"This case in particular highlights that ignorance is not a defence and digital piracy is not a grey area.

Rasheed's case comes after another Brit, Yusuf Mohammed, was ordered to pay £16,000 in costs in October for streaming Sky Sports on his blog.

Kim Kardashian Scolds Kanye West On Twitter

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's marriage is under strain amid fears the rapper is on the brink of another breakdown.

Tensions between the couple spilled over onto social media Wednesday after he shared pictures of the couple's family home on Twitter and praised Donald Trump.

The 40-year-old Gold Digger hit maker posted photographs of the luxurious space following a lenghty Twitter tirade, in which he boasted about his brand Yeezy and hinted he wanted to run for president.

Kim, 37, called him out for breaking his own rule about their home, tweeting: 'Ummm babe. We had a rule to not show our home on social media! Soooo can we now allow KUWTK filming in the home?'

Kim later insisted on social media that she was 'joking'.

Kanye was shedding light on all of the memes comparing his life with the Kardashian family to the 2017 Jordan Peele film Get Out.

A big theme in the Oscar-winning film is the 'sunken place' in which a person is in a perpetual place of slumber regarding injustice and oppression when it comes to race.

In response, Kanye shared snaps of what looks like his palatial $20million Hidden Hills home with Kim as he wrote: 'do this look like the sunken place [laugh while crying emoji].'

The Oscar-winning screenwriter Peele retweeted one of the posts and joked: '*Gets inspired *Starts writing ‘Get Out 2'

Senator Dino Melaye releases statement on his arrest by Police

Senator Dino Melaye releases statement on his arrest by Police lailasnews 3
Senator Dino Melaye, who is currently at the National Hospital, Abuja after he allegedly made an attempt to escape from Police yesterday, has released a statement on his arrest.

Gideon Ayodele, the Special Adviser to Senator Dino Melaye, on Tuesday, faulted reports that his principal jumped out of a moving vehicle in an attempt to stop police move to take him to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Ayodele in a statement titled
“Today’s Incident Involving Senator Dino Melaye: A Last Resort”, Gideon noted that it was not possible for Melaye to have jumped out of a moving police vehicle when he was surrounded by armed policemen.
The statement read: “Sequel to the avalanche of calls by well-meaning Nigerians and supporters of Melaye for enquiries about the well-being and safety of the senator and against the backdrop of baseless rumours being spread on the social media, we are constrained to set the record straight as follows:

“Earlier in the morning, Senator Dino Melaye as a law-abiding citizen voluntarily submitted himself to the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) who had laid siege to his private residence since 3.35pm of Monday, April 23, 2018.

“He, along with his lawyers and personal aides, was driven in his private car to the SARS office in Guzape district of Abuja, sandwiched among the numerous police vehicles earlier deployed in his house.

“For the avoidance of doubt, he had never evaded police invitation before now because there was none extended to him in the first place. Rather, what the Police Force PRO, Mr. Jimoh Moshood, had been doing was to summon the senator through media briefings, a practice which is unconventional.

“But given the media hype the whole saga had generated, especially his unwarranted travails in the hands of immigration officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Aiport in Abuja on Monday, April 23, and the attendant but dramatic police siege to his private residence thereafter, where family members and political associates were subjected to a traumatic experience for hours, it became necessary for Senator Dino Melaye to end the drama, hence his choice of appearing before the police today (Tuesday).

“Later on, they moved to take him to Lokoja in Kogi State. The public will vividly recall that the case involving Senator Dino Melaye had already been transferred to Abuja by the Chief Justice of the Federal High Court after Senator Melaye expressed worry about his safety in Lokoja.

“Now, the question is why will they want to forcefully take him to Lokoja? The senator believes they are doing the Kogi governor’s bidding in order to assassinate him.
“Today’s incident was a last resort by Senator Dino Melaye in order to foil the attempt to kill him by agents of the Kogi State governor in connivance with the police,” the statement said.

Badoo sponsor, Abayomi, loses N500m claims against police

Alleged Badoo sponsor, Abayomi, loses N500m claims against police lailasnews 2

An alleged sponsor and godfather of the murderous ritual group, BadooAlhaji Alaka Abayomi has been denied the award of N500 million damages against the Nigeria Police Force arresting and parading him before the media on July 31st 2017.
Though Justice Muslim Hassan knocked the police for Abayomi’s detention beyond 24 hours without a court order, he declined the prayer to award exemplary damages of N500m in favour of the oil marketer against the police, Punch reports.
The judge also declined his prayer that the court should order the police to “publish and furnish an unreserved apology to the applicant in four national daily newspapers and social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp.”
The judge noted that despite evidence that the police were served with the suit and hearing notices, they did not show up in court to defend it.

Joined as respondents in the suit, were the Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner of Police in Lagos State; and CSP Obot Umoh of the IGP Special Tactical Squad, Lagos.
In his judgment on Tuesday, Justice Hassan held:
“I can see that despite the hearing notice ordered by this court to be served on the respondents, no counter-affidavit was filed to controvert the claims of the plaintiff, which amount to an admission by the respondents.
“I have read and examined the relief and the affidavit of the applicant in the instant suit, which is not contradicted, and discovered that the detention of the plaintiff herein beyond 24 hours, without an order of court, is a breach of his fundamental rights enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.
“I agree that the police cannot be prevented from carrying out their constitutional duty but this must be done within the purview of the law and the constitution.”

The alleged sponsor of the dreaded Badoo group had, in the suit filed through his lawyer, Ojehomon Tunde, urged the court to declare that his arrest at his residence in the Magodo area of Lagos and his consequent detention for over 48 hours at the Lagos Command of the Nigeria Police Force was a violation of his right to personal liberty under Section 35 of the constitution.
