A 46-year old man identified as Osaremwinda Omobude Idumwonyi has reportedly stabbed his lover to death for allegedly finding condoms in her bag.
The deceased, who is a single mother of three children, was stabbed with a kitchen knife three times in her mother’s room at No. 13, Ehiyoboy Street, Off Aifuwa Street, Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo State.
The woman was killed few hours after she left her lover’s residence where she spent the night.
A 19-year-old man, Junior Omo Shaba, had last week killed his 18- year- old girlfriend, Matilda Odiri, and dumped her corpse by the roadside.
It has not been ascertained if the condoms were found inside the woman’s bag while she was with him the previous night or during the day when he entered her aged-mother’s rented apartment.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspect told police investigators that he killed his lover in self defence.
According to him, the deceased picked a kitchen knife to stab him when an argument ensued between them but he overpowered and stabbed her.
The woman was rushed to hospital where she later died.
Police recovered the knife in the suspect’s kitchen.
The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, said police is still investigating the incident.

Thomas Markle Sr. has celebrated his 74th birthday alone by eating a McDonald's Happy Meal and shopping in Los Angeles just days after revealing he has lost all contact with his daughter Meghan.
The Duchess of Sussex's estranged father was spotted out on Wednesday visiting the fast food restaurant and running errands at a Bank of America and UPS store.
Later, Markle Sr. was pictured heading to a Best Buy store to pick up a number of small electronics, which he then took with him when he went to visit friends in a nearby apartment complex.
Markle Sr. had left his home in Rosarito, Mexico on Tuesday night, the eve of his birthday, and drove the six hours in heavy traffic to check into a $130-a-night motel in Los Angeles.
His birthday celebrations came the day after Meghan and Prince Harry carried out their royal duties by visiting The Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition in London.
Meghan's father has repeatedly spoken out to the media ever since it emerged just days before the royal wedding that he had secretly collaborated with a British paparazzi photographer to set up 'candid' photos of himself preparing for the big day.
Days later, the former Hollywood lighting director, who was set to walk Meghan down the aisle, infamously pulled out of wedding, claiming he had suffered a heart attack and needed emergency surgery.
A source close to the Duchess of Sussex told DailyMail.com on Tuesday that Markle Sr. was never ill and faked the operation as an excuse to not attend the royal wedding and garner sympathy.
'The whole story about Meghan's father undergoing heart surgery was made up,' the source said.
'He had to come up with a good enough reason not to attend her wedding and avoid any further embarrassment after those staged photos went public.'
During his recent bombshell interview on ITV's Good Morning Britain, the former lighting director said he was admitted to the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, just a few miles north of the Mexican border in Tijuana, where a stent was fitted.
But when DailyMail.com reached out to the hospital for confirmation of his May 16 visit, the clinic replied that 'no such name' had ever checked into the hospital.
'The poor health story was his way of generating some compassion from the public, and taking the attention off those staged photos which were a complete embarrassment to Meghan and the royal family,' the source said.
'Of course Meghan is upset with him. Her father missed her wedding. He missed walking her down the isle all because of that ill-conceived publicity stunt.
'It was really just such poor judgement on his part. Now everyone's feeling sorry for him. They shouldn't. He brought this upon himself and if he were truly sick Meghan would have made an effort to visit him. Don't feel sorry for him. If anything, feel sorry for Meghan.'
Since the wedding, Markle Sr. has given a number of paid media interviews speaking about his daughter and the royal family.
The father-of-three recently revealed he isn't fazed by reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are fed up with him running to the media and he vowed to continue speaking about Meghan until he can be part of her life again.
He said this week that he hadn't spoken to his daughter in two months and that he could no longer reach her on the phone number he had for her.

The Police in Katsina have arrested a notorious car snatcher and recovered two vehicles in the state.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, and signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, the Police said the suspect was intercepted in Malumfashi town.
“A police patrol team attached to Malumfashi Area Command, Katsina while on routine patrol in Malumfashi town, intercepted one Wadatau Lawan, aged 49, of Marina village, Sokoto state, with a stolen motor vehicle”.
Isah said that during the course of investigation another stolen motor vehicle recovered.
According to him, the cars recovered include, a Toyata Camry, 2000 model, green in colour, Chassis No.4TIBG22K6Y495726 with registration KJA 432 EG and a Toyota RAV4 Jeep, ash in colour with reg no. RSH 719 AM.
The police image maker however maintained that, the suspect will be arraigned in court on completion of investigations.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued warning against spraying, selling and mutilation of naira notes, a criminal offence, which the bank said attracts five years imprisonment.
Expressing worry over the act, which it said is becoming common practice among Nigerians, the apex bank said anyone caught would henceforth be made to face the full wrath of the law .
It assured marketers, merchants, shopping malls and supermarkets of the bank’s continuous injection of huge volumes of banknotes into the circulation.
The development, according to the Acting Director, Currency Operations Department, CBN, Mrs. Priscilla Eleje, was to preserve the pride of the country and ease difficulties being encountered by the traders and customers occasioned by the inadequate circulation of the lower denomination banknotes like N200, N100, N50, N20, N10 and N5.
Mrs. Eleje, who was represented at the public sensitsation and enlightenment campaign at Alesinloye market by a Deputy Director of the bank, Mrs. Olufolake Ogundero, added that the bank recognises the important role markets play in economic transaction, hence the need for ease accessibility of the lower denominations to carry out economic transactions.
She said: “It is a criminal offence punishable by six months imprisonment or a fine of N50,000 or both to sell, spray or mutilate the banknotes. It is also a criminal offence which attracts five years imprisonment without an option of fine for anybody to counterfeit the naira. Naira is our pride as a country. So, respect it.”

A former Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu, is dead. Katsina-Alu who headed the Nigerian judiciary between 2009 and 2011, reportedly died at an Orthopaedic Hospital in Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday.
The former CJN who hailed from Ushongo local government area of Benue state, died at the age of 76. He would have clocked 77 years on August 28.

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom said he has not declared for any political party despite the flooding of Makurdi with his campaign posters for the 2019 governorship on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Barely 24 hours after Ortom said the All Progressives Congress (APC) gave him a red card, his campaign posters bearing the PDP symbol for 2019 governorship race took over the streets of Makurdi, the capital.
The posters were put in strategic places alongside the earlier ones with APC symbol, but they did not bear the picture of Deputy Governor Benson Abounu.
But in a telephone interview with The Nation, Ortom said he was yet to declare for any political party.
He said: “Like I said earlier, I have been given a red card and I’m without a party. Maybe those who want to sign me are behind the posters, but I am yet to join any party.”
This is coming after new APC chairman, Adams Oshiomhole says, Ortom was still part of the party.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will present the Certificate of Return to the Ekiti State governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, TODAY.
The deputy governor-elect, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, will also receive his Certificate of Return at the ceremony.
The ceremony is slated for 11:00 a.m. at the state INEC headquarters along new Iyin Road in Ado-Ekiti.
Fayemi, who represented the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola and 33 other candidates to win Saturday’s governorship election in the state. Fayemi will be inaugurated on October 16.
