Police nab 4 suspected killers of Oyo lawmaker
No fewer than four suspected assassins have been arrested in connection with the murder of a member of the Oyo House of Assembly, Gideon Aremu.
The state Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, had vowed that the killers will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly and had placed a N5m bounty on the heads of the gunmen responsible for the act.
Confirming the arrest on Sunday, the Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, in a statement said, “I wish to inform you that four suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a lawmaker, Gideon Aremu.
Oyebade added that the arrest was made possible by the combined efforts of the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, of the Inspector General of Police, IGP and detectives from the state Police Command.
“They will be made to face the law on completion of investigation,” the statement added.
DAILY POST recalls that three gunmen trailed him on a motorcycle on July 1 and shot him dead.
Aremu, who was killed in front of his house in the Alakia area of the state as he alighted from his car to open the gate, was until his death the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Public Relations and Security.
