The cocker spaniel was filmed in a gym containing dozens of victims in the town of Ascoli Piceno.
Distraught family and friends were seen weeping near the wooden coffins before the mass state funeral at which some of the 291 victims were laid to rest.
Italy is in morning after Wednesday's devastating 6.2 earthquake struck the country's central regions, razing entire villages to the ground.
