Controversial lesbian athlete Caster Semenya gets set to wed lover next month (pics)


Controversial South African athlete Caster Semenya has given her fans a unique glimpse into her life outside sport with an intimate series of images and videos as she plans a ‘white wedding’ with her partner.

South African Caster and Violet Raseboya, also an athlete who celebrated their union with a traditional ceremony last year, will make their marriage official over Christmas, a friend has revealed.

She was born with no womb or ovaries and instead, due to a chromosomal abnormality, internal testes.
Caster's ‘intersex’ condition of hyperandrogenism gives her testosterone levels that are three times those usually found in women and approaching those of a man.
The couple have been together for a decade and held a traditional ceremony in rural Limpopo province, three hours north of Johannesburg, last December following a 12-month engagement.

According to reports, the Olympian, who won silver at London 2012 paid £1,500 ‘lobola’ - or bride price - to her bride’s family.


The nuptials will mark the end of an extraordinary year for the 800m Olympic gold medallist whose victory in Rio was the most bitterly contested event of the games.

Caster was at the centre of a controversy in the Rio 2016 Olympics after other female competitors complained that her condition of having naturally elevated levels of male testosterone meant she was much too fast and strong to compete among regular female
