Kidnappers Busted By Operatives In Edo State

Men of the Nigeria Police Force in Edo State have finally arrested notorious kidnappers who have been making millions by abducting innocent people in the state.

The two kidnappers were arrested by the anti-kidnapping squad of the Edo State Police Command. It was said that the suspects have been on the police wanted list for a long time.

According to Tribune, the suspects, 34yrs old Best Iyoha and 27yrs old Junior Ekete, were alleged to be members of a gang that had terrorised parts of Edo and Delta states.

It was gathered that the gang recently kidnapped a 40-year-old businessman, Mr Okpogie Osaigbovo, who was supervising workmen in his building around Country Home Motel Road in Benin City.

The gang stormed the project site in a red Toyota Camry car, held the man at gunpoint and whisked him away in the trunk of the car.

Police investigation revealed that Mr Osaigbovo was kept in a toilet at House 5, Hope Close, Off Country Home Motel Road, Benin City for two nights.

The suspected kidnappers then opened a ransom negotiation to the tune of N200million.

The victim’s family members however parted with N8m before the businessman was released.

Moments after the release, men of the anti-kidnapping squad of Edo State police command went on the trail of the suspects and arrested them in their hideout.

At the point of arrest, two Samsung mobile phones belonging to their victims were recovered.

Also recovered from the gang were the Toyota Camry car used in the operation, two cut-to-size guns, two laptops and four live cartridges.

The suspects who spoke on their level of involvement said they were recently deported from Libya and were trying to raise more money to travel overseas before luck ran out against them.

Reacting, the Edo State commissioner of police Mr Haliru Gwandu, said that tough times awaited any person or group of persons that would want to engage in criminal activities in the state.
