Usain Bolt forced to give back Olympic gold medal

Usain Bolt and the 2008 Jamaica 4x100m relay team have been stripped of their Olympic gold medals.
It comes after teammate re-analysis of a drug sample offered by teammate Nesta Carter was found to have tested positive.
Carter, now 31, tested positive for the prohibited substance methylhexaneamine.


A statement released by the IOC disciplinary commission declared:

"The Athlete, Nesta Carter is found to have committed an anti-doping rule violation pursuant to the IOC Anti-Doping Rules applicable to the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing in 2008. 
Carter is disqualified from the men’s 4x100m relay event in which he participated upon the occasion of the Olympic Games Beijing 2008. 
The Jamaican team is disqualified from the men’s 4x100m relay event. The corresponding medals, medallist pins and diplomas are withdrawn and shall be returned."

Carter was on a on the list of 31 athletes who failed retests, which took place using the latest scientific techniques, in a bid to catch out drug cheats ahead of last year’s Olympics in Rio.
