2 burn to death, many injured, as Danfo bus bursts into flames in Lagos

Two women were burnt beyond recognition when a commercial bus conveying fish sellers burst into flames.
The Danfo bus, with registration number KTU 479 XQ, was said to have somersaulted and caught fire at “Cane village”, Maryland area of Lagos.
The incident occurred at about 2.55pm on Friday (today).
LASEMA spokesperson, Kehinde Adebayo said in a statement that the bus, which was moving from Yaba, lost control at top speed after hitting an unknown Jeep at Maryland.
The bus fell on its side and caught fire.
                   
“Five persons were rescued and attended to by a joint team of LASAMBUS and the LASEMA Paramedics,” the statment said.
“Thereafter the victims were taken to the Trauma and Burns Centre, Gbagada for further treatment, while two other adult female passengers were burnt beyond recognition.”
 The remains of the unidentified women were handed over to SEHMU for deposition at Mainland Hospital Morgue.
LASEMA General Manager, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, said proper investigation into the cause of the incident would be conducted.                        
He advised motorist to drive with utmost care and safety as most of these accidents are avoidable.
