"I got information on how to kill through Google", says boy, 19, who stabbed pregnant girlfriend

'Ask Google’ is a common refrain when people need answers to issues they cannot solve ordinarily. But a 19-year-old undergraduate, Ade (surname withheld), recently made wrong use of the application when he used it to search on what he could to do to a girlfriend who refused to abort a two-month-old pregnancy she had for him. He asked asked google how to kill his girlfriend, and google gave him answers.

At the end of his search, he got a knife, went to his girlfriend’s house and stabbed her twice on the stomach and also slashed her throat

Tribune learnt that Ade, a 100 level student in one of the universities in the South Western part of Nigeria, allegedly committed the act on Thursday, August 11, at the residence of his girlfriend’s parents at Sango-Alaro area of Ibadan at about 2:30p.m.

But for the presence of a policeman, Seargeant Ayeni Oluwafemi, who was the girl’s neighbour who heard her cry, the 19-year-old girl would have died in her pool of blood, while Ade would have escaped. 

Ade confessed that said he got the clue on how to resolve the issue, through the help of Google.

His confession:

“I met my girlfriend about two months ago on Facebook. We had a mutual friend and I added her. She accepted my request and we got to know each other. I proposed a relationship to her and she accepted. We had sex only once on July 4. I did not protect myself.

“On August 10, she told me that she was pregnant. The next morning, on Thursday August 11, she called me that her parents wanted to see me. I went to her parents at Alaro area of Ibadan and they wanted to know what my intention was on the pregnancy. I suggested that she had an abortion but they said they could not abort for their daughter because it was against their belief. I told them that I would get back to them on Monday, August 15.

“I left for home confused, but on the way home, different thoughts went through my mind because I didn’t want my parents to know. I didn’t want to disappoint them. I was with my phone at home and I picked it and typed “What to do if my girlfriend does not want to have an abortion on Google”. It brought out different options that I can deny, which I didn’t deny.

“Another option was to convince her to have an abortion, which did not work. There were also other options but the last one was that I could kill her. I chose that option because she was the only one who knew my house and I believed that if I killed her, no one would be able to trace my house and I would get away with my action.

“To kill, Google gave me an option to use poison, which I knew no pharmacy would sell to me. Other options were to use a gun or a knife. Knife was easy to get, so I went to the market same day to buy a knife and returned to her house. I did not meet her at home so I called her and waited for her. When she came in, I attacked her with the knife but she was resisting. I stabbed her on the right and left sides of her stomach and slashed her throat.

“Unfortunately for me, her screams got to a neighbour and he came in. Coincidentally, he is a policeman so he handcuffed me and I was arrested. It was the fear of disappointing my parents that made me take the action.”

Though the girl survived the attack, she is still in the Intensive Care Unit where doctors are battling to keep her alive.

The Oyo State police P.R.O, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said Ade would be arraigned in court after the conclusion of investigations.

Mikel Obi excludes NFF from Japanese cash gift, donates his share to Siasia

According to team sources, the NFF will not get a single kobo of the $390,000 awarded to the bronze winning Nigeria U-23 team by Japanese billionaire Katsuya Takasu.

Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel will rather donate part of his share of the largess in a sharing formula that will include the 22 players, team officials, and coach Siasia. Indeed, NFF will not get a dime from the money.

Katsuya Takasu, a Japanese surgeon made good his promise to reward the team for their bravery in Rio after they beat Honduras 3-2 for the bronze medal.

The Nigeria Football Federation and the Sports Ministry made their observations known by insisting that the money must be from a credible sources, but according to feelers from the camp of the Olympics Eagles, the NFF were only seeking for means of getting their hands on the money.

However, Takasu issued two Citibank cheques $200,000 in the name of coach Samson Siasia and $190,000 in the name of Mikel.

One of the team’s officials disclosed to Africafootball.com that the team vowed not to hand over the money to the NFF.

“Mikel has insisted all of us will get our share of the money. That we should not mind what the people in the NFF are saying.

“He will make available this cash when he comes for next month’s AFCON qualifier against Tanzania in Uyo.”

A team meeting has already resolved that both players and officials will receive equal amount of the cash with Mikel himself agreeing to give part of his own share for the chief coach (Siasia) to get more than the rest of the squad.

It was further gathered that the sharing formula agreed was a flat rate for the 22 players (18 accredited players and four alternate players) and 10 officials.

Sad! Man Fighting For Girl Whom Police Man Allegedly Defiled Says, ‘I Have Dropped The Case, For The Sake Of My Life’

An activist, Dr. Ime Stephen, who escaped from the Kidnappers den on Saturday, has said he would no longer pursue the kidnap case involving a 15-year-old Mary Udo, who was allegedly raped at gunpoint by a police inspector in Akwa Ibom State.

Stephen, who was kidnapped from his house on Tuesday around 3am, told journalists on Saturday he had dropped Udo’s case including other cases he intended to bring against Nigeria Police for human rights abuses.

He said, “I can’t really say or speculate the people behind my kidnapping. Investigation is already on and I leave that one for the security operatives. There was a rape case of a 15-year old girl, Mary Udo, who was allegedly defiled by a police inspector that I have been following up. And since then, a lot of things have been happening to me.


“My abductors clearly asked me to leave all the cases I have been handling. I have dropped all these cases for the sake of my life and my family. All these things are happening to me because I committed myself to the defence of the defenceless,” he said.

Punch Metro had on Wednesday, August 15, reported that the human rights activist, who had been fighting for justice for Udo, was whisked away by some masked gunmen.

“One of the kidnappers spoke in Ijaw language and blended it with English but they didn’t know I could hear them as they thought the injection I was given was still active.

“I heard one of them saying that I should not be killed because it will be a problem for them as some people have seen them already. This brought argument among them and one of them shot the other and he died at the spot. Although, I was blindfolded I knew that was what happened.

 “I want to still call on the Inspector General of Police, the SSS and relevant security operatives to wade into this matter and launch intensive investigation. I have been shouting and crying all these while that my life is in danger but nothing was done about it. Several assassination attempts have been made on my life before I was eventually kidnapped.”

On his escape from the abductors, he said, “I will say it is God’s grace. They were transferring me from one place to the other. And then they took me to one uncompleted building in Nsit Ubium along Oron Road. The place is called Akai and it is slightly isolated because houses are not close to one another.

“They tied me up, both legs and hands, and  left me in order to come for me later. Sometimes they go out to smoke and do some other things before returning. I was then fortunate that the sedation cleared from my eyes a little and I began to shout for help with my last strength.

“A cyclist heard my voice and came to my rescue. He managed to lose my legs but couldn’t lose my hands that were tied to my back. It was in the night and he then took me to the police post in the area before I was handed over to the highway patrol team.

“It was at the police post that my hands were loosen. The boy who rescued me was also frightened as he was taking me to the police post so that we don’t run into the kidnappers who dumped me there,” he said.

Saudi Releases Two Nigerian Pilgrims Arrested For Drug Offences

This seem to be a very good news. Two Nigerian pilgrims arrested in Saudi Arabia over possession of substances alleged to be cocaine have been released, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has said.

A statement by the Commission issued in Abuja yesterday, said that the arrested pilgrims from Kwara State were released following investigation that they were not culpable for the offence.

According to the statement obtained from the Kingdom revealed that the two suspects were set free after it was discovered that the allegation for which they were arrested was not correct. It would be recalled that two Nigerian pilgrims from Kwara State were arrested on August 9 and 12 over alleged trafficking of drugs into the kingdom.

The identities of the two pilgrims affected have remained unknown even as anxiety has continued to grow in Ilorin, capital city of Kwara State among residents who have relatives performing this year Hajj exercise.

So Sad! Gunmen Murder Fresh Graduate Who Just Completed Studies In Malaysia

Three gunmen who alighted from a tricycle on Saturday in Kaduna opened fire on a 27-year-old man, Mohammed Rabiu, killing him on the spot.

It was learnt that Rabiu just returned from Malaysia where he went for studies. He was shot in his car at about 8:30 pm on Saturday after driving all the way from Abuja.

Rabiu was said to be in company of a friend, Jafar Ali.

According to the friend, who later narrated the incident to journalists, the duo drove from Abuja to see another friend of the deceased along the Lugard Hall.

The friend, he said, had gone out when they arrived at the Lugard Hall, located in the heart of the city. Ali, who escaped the assailants’ bullets by a whisker, said three gunmen alighted from a tricycle parked near to “where we parked our car.”

He said the gunmen made straight for them and demanded for their mobile phones.

Ali said, “Initially we thought they were policemen because they were pointing guns at us but the next thing I heard were gunshots.

“The men kept firing as they opened the doors of the car, pushed us out as they entered the car and drove away with it.

“All these happened in less than two minutes. As I struggled with them, they kept firing but somehow the bullets from the locally-made guns missed me but they shot my friend.

“It was when they left that we got a car from the house which took him to the hospital but he was confirmed dead in less about an hour after that.”

Meanwhile, it was gathered that that the Kaduna State Police Command had commenced preliminary investigation into the killing, following the formal report of the incident to the police.

Though, the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Usman, could not be reached, a source said the police had retrieved the bullet shells at the scene of the incident.

Ogun PDP Troubles Continue, As Adebutu Accuses Kashamu Of Leading 50 Thugs To Attack Him

Six DELSU Lecturers Sacked For Sexual Harassment Of Female Students

Six lecturers of the Delta State University, Abraka, have been sacked over various offences, including sexual harassment of female students.
Their sack came after a disciplinary committee was set up to investigate the allegations against them.

The University Governing Council at 97th regular meeting held at the weekend, recommended their dismissal having found them culpable of several offences including sexual harassment of female students.

The Public Relations Officer, PRO, of DELSU, Eddy Agbure, confirmed the development in a statement, noting that while six were dismissed, four others were demoted and received various queries for gross misconducts.

The statement added that investigations revealed that the sacked lecturers were also involved in financial extortion for marks, leaking of examination questions and other corrupt offences

Three Men Charged With Murder Of Nigerian Amateur Rapper Aderemi In London

Three men have been charged with murder 
after a teenager was allegedly hacked to death by gang members “armed with machetes” in south London.

Andre Aderemi, 19, was found covered in stab wounds with paramedics desperately trying to save the amateur rapper’s life.

Jamall Longergan, 19, of Woodcroft Road, Thornton Heath, Fabio Cela, 19, of Fryston Avenue, Croydon and Rodney Mukasa, 19, of Greenview Avenue, Croydon, have now been charged with the teen’s murder.

The young man was found about 7.40pm on Heather Way in Selsdon, South Croydon, after being stabbed to death on Tuesday August 16.

Despite the frantic attempts of paramedics, the teenager died in hospital. They have since been charged with murder, appearing at Camberwell Magistrates; Court on Saturday.

Witnesses claimed the teen was “stabbed 20 times” after being chased in the Monks Hill estate in Selsdon, Croydon last night.

He was heard screaming for his mum before he was killed.

Wedding mishap: Bride in Abia state goes crazy during ceremony, threatens to stab groom over sharing formula of food and drinks (photos)

Pandemonium broke out on the 26th of June 2016, during the wedding of Nkechi Ofor and her husband Emeka Ofor at the premises of the Umuahia North Local Government Headquarters, Abia State.
According to viral reports, a minor disagreement between families and friends of the couple ensued when the bride alleged that her village people were not been served enough foods and drinks despite the fact that she contributed the lion share of the wedding expenses.

As the man in charge of drinks was trying to give explanations and at the same time urging the raging bride to keep it cool, it led to a hot argument between them and Nkechi the bride, fully dressed in her wedding atire, picked up bottles and started throwing them at the man.

The noisy scenario attracted the groom, Emeka, who stormed out of the reception to calm his wife but 
Nkechi, the groom was reported to have threatened to stab her newly wedded husband and stab herself if she is not allowed to have her way.

The groom’s family allegedly stormed the scene angrily throwing bottles and chairs leading to a free for all fight between the two families.

It was during the melee, that one Chisom Ofor, said to be a younger brother of the groom mistook a guest, Chinwendu Ibiam, for a junior brother of the bride and allegedly stabbed him at the back of the neck. The victim was reported to have fainted immediately.

According to Uche Ibiam, an elder brother of the victim,

“he and his junior brother were invited for the wedding by the bride because the bride is their neighbour at their shop.

He narrated that he

“was inside the hall when he started hearing someone shouting stab him, stab him” and that as he made his way to see what was happening, he claimed to have seen Chisom, the groom’s younger brother, stabbing his own brother on the neck and in the process, the victim fainted. Chisom and the rest of the people, alleged, ran away from the scene. 

Uche said he quickly rushed his bloodied brother to a the police hospital on Bende Road, Umuahia and the matter was reported at the Central Police Station Umuahia. Nkechi, the bride was invited by the police to rendered an account of what led to the chaos that engulfed her wedding reception, but she refused to show up.

Three days later, Nkechi was said to have made a sudden appearance at the hospital where the victim was undergoing treatment and she allegedly promised to pay for the victims medical expenses. Since then, she never showed up or fulfill her pledge to take responsibilities for the hospital bills.
The neglect and nonchalant attitude of the couple to the plight of the victim prompted a legal practitioner, Barr. Anthony Onyenowu of Victory Chambers, Umuahia, to send a petition to the Commissioner of Police, Abia State, and thereafter the matter was transfered to the State CID Umuahia, for proper investigation.

Men of the state police command, on 3rd August 2016, were at Ajata Ibeku, the hometown of Ofor’s to effect the arrest of Chisom, who allegedly stabbed Chinwendu. Chisom was said to have stripped himself Unclad and almost escaped before the police caught up with him.

In the process, youths in the village, wielding cutlasses and other dangerous weapons allegedly waylaid the police team and rescued Chisom after inflicting injuries on the policemen. Since then, Chisom Offor walks a freeman boasting of his invincibility even from law enforcement agents.

Efforts to get the bride, Mrs. Nkechi Ofor’s side of the story was impossible as her phone number remained switched off for days.
