Notorious 4-man gang which includes 27-year-old commercial bus driver based in Benue State, Monday Otupa and three others, Joseph Oriyan, 27, Basil Fabian 39 and Mike Onazi, 34, have been arrested for armed robbery and car snatching in different parts of Nigeria, as they claimed they get information about their victims from prostitutes.

The suspects who revealed they have members in Lagos, Enugu, Benue and Port Harcourt who they call when they come to the states for operation, further revealed they operate in a Commando way and each member has specific role to play. They have mechanic, rewire, painter, and a member whose role is to perfect customs papers, vehicle number plates and good receivers.

An Ak47 ammunition among other dangerous weapons used by the suspects from Benue State during their operations, was recovered by Security operatives.

The Nation reports that when they operate in Abuja and Lagos, they would take the snatched cars to Port Harcourt to sell. Innocent buyers address them as car dealers without car shops, yet they claimed to be buying the cars from Cotonou and other West African countries and abroad.

One of the gang members named Joseph (Joe) had been arrested more than three times, charged to court and remanded in prison and, at times convicted, yet, he always secures freedom to join his members.

Confessing to the crime, Monday said: “We used women prostitute to get information on how police are looking for us and the position of the victims after the operation.

We used to sleep in hotels that are not well patronized and located in a remote area and at times the owners of the hotels and their staff assist us with information and private accommodation for which we pay special money.”

Singer Mario Winans jailed over child support

“I Don’t Wanna Know” singer, Mario Winans was arrested on Wednesday September 27th at his home in Fort Lee, New Jersey and jailed for not paying child support for his 12-year-old son.

Bossip reports that Authorities from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department raided Winans home, and arrested him without an incident.

The 43-year-old former Bad Boy Records artist and songwriter apparently owes $171,000 in back child support, as it was gathered that his bail is set at same amount of the child support owed. This is coming after Winans plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of failure to file tax returns, at this same time last year; a case that could get him up to five years in prison if convicted.

Some Nigerians parents encourage their daughters to go to Europe for prostitution-NAPTIP

National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons [NAPTIP], has revealed exclusively that some Nigerian parents actually encourage their daughters to travel to Europe to become sex slaves so they could send money to them.

An official to NAPTIP Esther Otegheri made the revelation in an interview with PulseNG, she said some of the parents go as far as providing the money for their wards to travel out or take them to shrines to swear to oaths that they will not abandon the sex trade when they get to Europe.

“It will shock Nigerians to know that most of the girl who gets trafficked to Europe to engage in prostitution are often encouraged or pushed into it by their own parents,” Otegheri begins.

Otegheri who was one of the NAPTIP officials who just came back from Europe where they managed to rescue some girls who were trafficked for the sex trade, said that some of the girls they rescued are as young as 13 and most of them had undergone untold hardship and were exposed to various kinds of diseases.

“I wept bitterly when we saw some of these girls who were as young as 13 roaming the streets of Europe soliciting for men to have sex with them for money.

They have these madams whom they report to and any money they make is used to offset the debts they owe the madams or send back home for their parents to pay off the people they borrowed to send them to Europe.

There are girls aged 13, 14 and 15 on the streets of Europe, selling themselves for money. They are so young, vulnerable and having terrible experiences. Some of them are exposed to sexually transmitted diseases because many of the patrons prefer sleeping with them without condoms.

Only the strongest of hearts would not cry when you see them or hear their stories. Many of them go through harrowing experiences before they get to Europe all in the name of making a living for themselves and their families.

In the course of our investigations, we discovered the routes these traffickers operate from and it would break your heart to see what they go through.

We discovered that some of these young victims go through the border between Sokoto and Bori Koni in the Niger Republic while some trek through the deserts taking the Katsina Maradi-Niamey-Ouagadougou-Mali, on to Libya before crossing the Mediterranean sea into Europe.

We also discover that majority of the victims are trafficked through Lagos to Cotonou for onward trafficking to Europe, with the connivance of Immigration and Customs officials.”

It has been discovered that Nigerians make up the biggest nationality crossing the Mediterranean in smuggling boats launched from Libya, and many of the migrants are girls and young women who are destined for the sex trade.

“Many of the girls come from very poor families and the parents feel the only way they can come out of their poor status is if their daughters could travel Europe and engage in prostitution. That is how low most of our parent’s reason.

Many of the girls have not been to school or have very little education, so they are easily taken advantage of. They dream of a better life in Europe, they see Italy as a paradise.

You will be surprised to hear some parents even boasting about their daughters who are in Europe and when you ask them what the girls do, they will be proud to tell you that they are hustling.

For them, hustling means one thing: prostitution. They are not ashamed to say it and it is very pathetic.

Some of these girls have little or no idea where they are heading or what they would do when they are being trafficked out of Nigeria. They don’t know the danger in front of them only to realize it when they get to a point of no return and they would have no option but to fall in line.

They are forced into prostitution and if they refuse, they are beaten up, detained and threatened with juju. It is very sad.”

Otegheri also pointed out that the victims of the sex trade live in terror of the madams who run them, as well as organized Nigerian gangs who operate as a mafia team and are used to whip the girls into line.

“The madams are like demi-gods and they control the girls in every way imaginable, from beating, torture, illegal imprisonment and threats of death.

There are also Nigerian gangs organized like the Mafia and they are used by the madams to intimidate, abuse and terrorize the girls.

The gang often kidnap the girls, rape them and force them into the streets to solicit for men.

Even some local churches are not left out in the trafficking. We have arrested some so-called pastors ho run these trafficking trade. They pretend to send these girls abroad to work when they know they are being sent to become prostitutes.

Once the girls arrive in Italy or other parts of Europe, they are made to sign agreements to pay back between 30,000 to 50,000 Euros to the madams before they are free to be on their own.

Most of them can spend three to five years without being able to pay up the money, thereby living in perpetual bondage.

The exploitation of these minors by their parents and the organized sex trade rings is rather pathetic. The way our government is handling the matter is also not encouraging. We have advocated for these rings to be smashed by all means but they still keep sprouting and it is worrisome.

Infection Added To The 'Fast Death' Of Hugh Hefner

Eedris Abdulkareem insulted artistes young enough to be his children – D’Banj

Even as back in the days musician, Eedris Abdulkareem, tongue-lashed D’banj in a recent video, calling him “stupid” to have left Don Jazzy, the Kokomaster has refused to retaliate but rather gave a subtle throwback by saying Eedris insulted people who are young enough to be his children.

The controversial singer had in the said video that surfaced online recently, took some of his younger colleagues to the cleaners while saying D’banj “lacked talent and all he has is ‘razzmatazz’”.

Saturday Beats caught up with the Kokomaster and he bared his mind on Eedris’ outburst. He told Saturday Beats that he felt Eedris could have handled the matter in a better way. He said,

“At first, I did not see the video where Eedris spoke about me and initially, I thought it was something else till people sent me the video. I have seen different videos of him talking about different artistes that are young enough to be his kids. I would have thought that if he was such a role model, there were better ways he could pass his message across but I have nothing against him. I have nothing more to say about him. I feel people just have different ways of expressing themselves.”

Lebanese Expatriate, 3 Others Arraigned For Theft

A 46-year-old Lebanese expatriate and an employee of a water engineering firm, Lana  Engineering Limited, Mr Antoine Alromi was on Friday, arraigned before an Abakaliki Magistrate Court over alleged theft of 5 KVA transformer valued at N7m.

Also arraigned before the court presided over by  Olughu Nnachi  were three other accused persons of Nigerian national. They are Offia Amaechi (25), Malachi Ogbodo (39), and Gregory Ndukwu (42).

According to the Charge No MAB /765/2017 between the Commissioner of Police Vs 4 accused persons, it reads, “That you Antoine Alromi (m) and Offia Benjamin (m) and other at large sometimes in the month of July 2017, at Abakaliki, in the Abakaliki Magisterial District, did conspire among selves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 A of the Criminal Code , Cap 33 vol 1, Laws of Ebonyi State 2009.”


 When the matter came up for hearing, all the four accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge even as the first accused (Alromi) had no legal representation, a Barrister Gabriel Onyike appeared for the 2nd, 3rd  and 4th accused persons.

Onyike had applied for bail for the accused but was opposed by the prosecution counsel DSP Kenneth Adokeme on the ground that the accused would jump bail if granted.

In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate said that the offence was bailable, and granted the 1st accused bail to the sum of N10m with two sureties who must be civil servant on Grade level 15,  while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th accused were granted bail to the sum of N5m with two sureties who must be civil servants of Grade level 10 or above .

 Nnachi however adjourned the matter till  November 27, 2017 for further hearing.

 In a related development, the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer Lovet Odah has paraded four suspects for their alleged involvement in various crimes ranging from fraud, stealing, armed robbery and conspiracy.

Briefing newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Abakaliki, the state capital on Friday, the PPRO said the command remains resolute to combat all forms of criminality in the state.

 Odah reiterated that the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigation was completed.

TMZ reports Drake’s dad got the tattoo to match the mug shot of him Drake got tattooed on his own arm in 2014. Dennis also wants the world to know he loves his boy.
