Company indicted for diversion of IDP funds linked to Buhari's in-laws

According to online sources, one of the companies indicted for alleged diversion of Internally Displaced Funds (IDP) has been linked to President Muhammadu Buhari’s in-laws.

Mahman Daura, who is President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew happens to be the father in-law to one of the owners. According to a source, the company is owned by one Alhaji Bachir Sanusi Dantata and his son Bachir Bachir Dantata.

Yesterday, October 4, the company’s name was mentioned in the Nigerian Senate as one of the organisations indicted for alleged diversion of funds for IDPs.

In a motion sponsored by Senator Bashir Babakaka Gabai from Borno Central District, he noted that despite huge releases by federal government and donor agencies, the situation in IDP camps is far from cheering.

Senator Gabai alleged:

“Rather than use the money appropriated for the IDPs and the Northeast to ameliorate the problems, the focus of the disbursement so far made have been used to feather other interest”.

He cited examples of diversion of the money meant for the welfare of the people as including “award of N80.7 million to JMT Global Technologies Ltd for rehabilitation of Police Station in Kwambir, N203.357m to another company, Josman Technologies Limited for removal of invasive plant species along river channels and another N117 million paid to Lintex International for supply of temporary shelters with no record of these shelters anywhere”

A restaurant patron Michael Fanny who was shocked by the scene posted the photo to Facebook.

The heartbreaking photo brought an outpouring of sympathy from social media users after it quickly went viral. 

His post, written in Indonesian, and the accompanying photograph, has since been shared almost 60,000 times. 

'Your pembantu (servant) is part of your life. A reflection of your humanity. Imagine you are in their position, no phone to hold, not invited to eat, eyes just looking around,' Mr Fanny wrote on Facebook.

Female students in South African stage naked protest over fees (Photos)

Three students of the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa have taken it upon themselves to protest the high tuition fees imposed by the institution's authorities, by protesting naked.

The ladies were seen with their hands across their heads, telling the police to stop shooting at them.

"It's for free education. Stop shooting us‚ comrades. Cease fire‚ comrades. It's for free education‚" the girls were heard chanting in the video.

The girls who have been dubbed the 'Naked Protesters' by the media, according to Times Live, reportedly stripped themselves of the blouses and bras as they confronted the police, saying they were tired of being brutalized and shot at by the officers in the protests march organized by the student body.

                         

                           

                                     

There has been an ongoing protest by university students who disrupted classes on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, in the ongoing fees protests which have hit the universities in the past few weeks.

The unrest began when the education board in that country announced on September 19 that fees will continue to rise with an 8% cap in 2017.

Since then, students from different universities have been staging protest marches while some schools have been forced to close down with lectures disrupted.

Cameroun Ex-Defender Rigobert Song Flown To Paris For More Treatment

                               

Cameroon's legendary footballer Rigobert Song waved to the crowd as he was taken away from a hospital in the capital, Yaounde, to the airport to fly to Paris for treatment.
Song was rushed to hospital on Sunday after suffering "cerebral hemorrhage."

Cameroon's health minister, Andre Mama Foudam told journalists that Song was being taken to Pitie Salpetriere hospital in Paris following the intervention of President Paul Biya:

I am grateful to the head of state for instructing the government to take the necessary measures to ensure that Song recovers.

We hail the professionalism of medical doctors in Cameroon and we appeal to all to have confidence in the health system in Cameroon."


Meanwhile, Song's bother, Alexandre Song, expressed gratitude to Cameroonians for their love and support.

“At this moment my family is living difficult times. We are touched by the love and support of Cameroonians and elsewhere.

We wish that those who tarnish the image of Song, publishing rumours and indecent photos, think about us and the children who are reading. Let’s uphold our dignity," he said.

He was fired in May this year after Kanye West reportedly accused him of flirting with his wife. Now Kim Kardashian's former bodyguard Steve Stanulis, 42, has weighed in on the reality star's terrifying Paris attack that took place earlier this week, calling it a product of 'karma'.

During an interview on an Australian radio breakfast show on Wednesday, Steve was quizzed about whether he felt that he could have prevented Kim from being robbed at gunpoint if he were still employed by Kanye and the Kardashians at the time.

'I don't know if I could have taken down five assailants with guns, [or] it could be karma coming around,' he responded to radio hosts Sam Frost and Rove McManus with a slight chuckle.


Steve, a former NYPD officer of Staten Island, also took a direct swipe at Kanye, telling Rove and Sam that Kanye 'wasn't one of the best guys to work for', and that he was 'a little high maintenance' as a client.

It's not the first time the bodyguard has suggested that karma may have been responsible for Kim's attack.

Nurse Drugs and R*pes 19-Year-Old Female Patient

                                      


A 27-year-old male nurse, Olugbenga Isaac, who allegedly drugged and r*ped a 19-year-old female patient, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ court in Lagos.

Isaac, a resident of Ajah area of Lagos is being tried for r*pe. The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu told the court that the accused committed the offence on September 15, 2016 at Onipanu, Lagos.

He said the accused unlawfully had s*xual intercourse with the 19-year-old lady.

“The accused had s*xual inter-course with a woman without her consent,” he said. The complainant was sick and called the defendant, a nurse, to treat her.

“The complainant had toothache, she called on the nurse to administer drugs on her. Instead, the accused injected her with a substance that made her sleep. The complainant slept off and the accused r*ped her and left.

“The complainant regained consciousness after several hours and was bleeding from her private part. It then dawned on her that she had been r*ped,” he said.

NAN reports that the offence contravened Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

The Nurse denied committing the offence. The Magistrate, T. Akanni, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till November 30 for mention.

Life has not been the same for Baba Suwe since the NDLEA incident | Yomi Fabiyi makes case for him

In October 2011, veteran comic actor, Babatunde Omidina, aka Baba Suwe, was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport on the suspicion of ingestion of illicit drugs. The drugs were supposedly discovered in the actor‘s stomach as he passed through the scanning machine at the airport. 

After detaining him for three weeks without finding any drugs, NDLEA released the comic actor.

An Ikeja High Court ordered the agency to pay the sum of N25 million as damages for unlawfully detaining him and also tender a public apology to him. None of this ever happened and in 2013, a Court of Appeal sitting in Igbosere, Lagos, quashed the judgement of the high court, saying there was no evidence to attract such.
 

In a new development, Producer and Director, Yomi Fabiyi, is alleging that a 'long pipe' was inserted through the actor's anus while in detention back in 2011 and the torture done on him by NDLEA is damaging his health at an alarming rate.

Actor Fabiyi posted this message on his social media page hours ago:

"On BABA SUWE: I am calling on all SENIOR COLLEAGUES in the entertainment world especially those close to Baba Suwe cos I don't have everyone's contact to please reachout to him asap. The torture done on him by NDLEA is vastly damaging his health at an alarming rate. He told me he no longer feel comfortable since that episode. Baba Suwe is a widower, he can hardly walk properly as I speak, let alone go to film. How will he feed and take care of the children aunty Moladun left behind?"

"This is an A-List Entertainer and this conspiracy of silence gives me MENTAL AGONY on my part, I don't want to speak when it may be too late, I won't forgive myself. He told me when I visited him that he is innocent of the accusations and yet a LONG PIPE was inserted through his anus, he was detained for too long amongst other things just because he was randomly suspected like every normal person. In my opinion, only lazy, ill-trained, unfit and uncivilised officers torture in the name of investigation. Torture is criminal and sinful. If this accusation is found to be true by independent investigators, it shouldn't go unpunished."

"The court asked NDLEA to pay him 25million for damages which is yet to be obeyed but to me an OPEN APOLOGY will placate him and illustrate some dignified and civil approach from a government agency that made him go through all that without coming up with a single proof after that prolonged detention and drama. He who assert MUST prove! NDLEA needs to restore public confidence by doing the needful on this matter. And until individuals and government agency begin to respect fundamental HUMAN RIGHT and enhance duty of care, the essence of Nigeria's FREEDOM is far from been realistic. No malice is intended against NDLEA with this outcry, I just hope the leadership see this as a clarion call for getting it right and save the agency from sending an innocent person to an early grave whereby leaving his children to suffer unjustly. Ex-Ghana international, Malik Jabir, has blamed poor standard of football in the country's domestic league on players having too much s*x. Jabir, who now manages in the division, says the league has not progressed as hoped because players spend much of their time sleeping with women.

"My 2 weeks pregnant wife sex starved me for 3 months" - Couple fight dirty in divorce court

                           

An Ibadan-based farmer and mother of seven, Idayat A., has asked a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan to dissolve her 22-year-old marriage to her husband,Wasiu.
Idayat, who resides at Aremo in Ibadan with Wasiu, told the court on Tuesday that her husband often beat her and sometimes threatens to kill her.


“My lord, Wasiu derives pleasure in beating the hell out of me not minding any circumstance. In fact, he is sounding it as a note of warning to me that he would soon put an end to my life.
Aside from that, he does not have any regard for my relatives. I have seven children and I want to reap the fruits of my labour,” Idayat said.
Wasiu, who agreed with the dissolution of the union, confirmed beating his wife.
“My lord, it is true that Idayat and I have been having running battle over the past 10 days over a pregnancy she could not explain.
For over three months now, Idayat has been starving me of sexual intercourse.
Let me state that Idayat and I are farmers and our farm lands are not within Ibadan.
Sometimes, she may stay away from the farm for two to three months and I will be the one looking after the children.
So, when Idayat returned home 10 days ago, I observed that her stomach was already protruding and she has started showing most of the symptoms she usually exhibits during pregnancy.
When I asked her, she laughed and I told her to return the pregnancy to whoever owned it.
I reported the matter to her elder sister and parents, they all fought me.
For more than three months, Idayat did not allow me access to my conjugal rights,” he explained.

Henric Agbaje, the presiding President of the court, asked the couple to go home and seek settlement through the intervention of elders.

Agbaje adjourned the case till October 19 for judgment.

40-year-old woman, others arraigned for stealing pastor’s fowls worth N1.5m

                          

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 40-year-old woman, Mrs. Regina Philip, and seven others before a magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, for allegedly stealing 1,600 fowls valued at N1.5m.The police prosecutor told the court that the defendants stole the fowls from the farms of Pastor Mrs. Titilayo Aluko on July 5 at Erin-Osun, Osogbo.

Other suspects arraigned by the police are: Odebiyi Yinka, Ayoola Samson, Grace Odeh, Elizabeth Ankira, Cecelia Ochili, Hannah Ankira and Oyelami Tajudeen.


The prosecutor told the court that Yinka and others at large stole the fowls from the complainant’s farms.

The charge read in part, “That you Odebiyi Yinka, and others at large on or before July 5, 2016, at Erin-Osun in the Osogbo Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit: stealing, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.”

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Olusola Aluko, ordered that they be remanded in custody and adjourned the case till November 25, 2016.

US husband killer Temitope Adebamiro pleads guilty

Temitope was arrested in early this year (May) on first-degree murder charges for allegedly slashing her husband’s throat. Her husband, Adeyinka Adebamiro, is also a Nigerian national, though he lived most of his life in the United States.
According to SaharaReporters, Temitope Adebamiro, has pled guilty to manslaughter and a weapons offense. The news was broke by The News Journal of Delaware earlier today.

It will be recalled that Temitope’s sister also revealed to SaharaTV in an interview that she witnessed Temitope cheating on Adeyinka.

It was also revealed during the interview that Temitope had turned to Black Magic, and may have been practicing rituals. Temitope’s sister believes that she may have been under the influence of these forces when she killed her husband.

Initially Temitope was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon. However, according to The News Journal of Delaware, Temitope and her attorney pled to the lesser charge of manslaughter and weapon possession on September 16th in the Superior Court in Wilmington, Delaware.

These charges bring a minimum sentence of four years in prison and a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison. Temitope has been incarcerated in Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution since her arrest last year.

''We had no idea who she was'' - Arrested kidnapper of CBN Governor Emefiele's wife

A member of the kidnap gang that abducted the wife of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Margaret Emefiele, and three others, last Friday, has disclosed that the gang had no inkling of who their victim was.
Vanguard reports that the suspect, Musa Muhammad, and five others, who are Fulani and are currently being interrogated at the Edo State Police Command, were said to have confessed that they were simply on a random kidnapping operation on Benin-Agbor Expressway, when they accosted 
Mrs. Emefiele’s convoy.

A source at the Command said that the kidnappers also confessed that they kidnapped a male motorist few minutes before Mrs Emelie’s convoy ran into their trap, but that they released the male motorist, when they realized the huge value of their new catch.

The Inspector General of Police was said to have deployed police reconnaissance helicopters, sniffer dogs and his operatives at the Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, headed by Abba Kyari, to rescue the victims and arrest the suspects.

Mohammed was trailed few hours after the release of Mrs Emefiele to his hideout in Edo State and was said to have provided information that aided the police in apprehending five other members of the gang.

Vanguard adds that the IRT operatives and their counterparts from Edo State are currently making efforts to apprehend three other members of the gang, who are believed to be in possession of the gang’s rifles and a large part of the loot.

Thief caught in Abuja after he robbed phone shop & returned next day to rob again(Photos)

An alleged phone thief was yesterday caught and paraded by a small mob after he stole a phone worth 210k at Emab Abuja.
What makes the whole situation more shocking is that, according to the owners of the shop, the young man had allegedly stolen a phone worth N140,000 successfully at the same shop just a day before. And returned the next to steal again.

The angry mob only gave him several hot slaps before handing him over to the police.
