NSCDC rescued 3 kids from ritualists in Abia state

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State command, has rescued three children (two female and one male of ages between 10 and 11 years), from the hands of kidnappers and ritualist in the state.

According to the command, it followed a tip-off and rescued the victims around Aba and Obingwa axis of the state, pointing out that the criminal elements came into the state through neighbouring states of Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Cross River with their collaborators in Abia State, disguising as scavengers.

The state commandant, Walter Akubiro Chika, who spoke through the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Uchenwa Oliver, said it was gathered that the criminals usually stationed themselves as scavengers at various refuse dump sites at Aba and Obi-Ngwa areas of the state and mesmerised teenagers coming to dump refuse in the areas, tie them with iron binders in an uncompleted building within the areas in anticipation of ransoms and their would-be buyers.

The state commandant, in view of the ugly trend in the state and warned the general public, particularly parents, to be wary of the activities of these criminal elements as they send their children and wards on errands.

In a similar vein, the command has urged parents and guardians to show commitment to the upkeep of their children and wards.

Trump Cries Foul As FBI Clears Clinton

Donald Trump has accused the FBI of impropriety after it once again exonerated his rival Hillary Clinton of criminal conduct on her emails. The FBI director said a fresh inquiry into the Democratic candidate's communications found nothing to change the bureau's conclusion this summer.

The Clinton campaign said it was "glad" the lingering issue had been resolved.

The dramatic twist lifted a cloud from her campaign as the final day of the marathon US election race loomed.

The latest opinion polls on Sunday, before news broke of the FBI announcement, gave Mrs Clinton a four to five-point lead over Mr Trump.

My daughter was drugged and she is not missing – Chidinma Okeke's father

Chidinma Okeke's father has said reports that his daughter had been declared missing by the family, are “very far from the truth
Jerry Okeke, who spoke to Premium Times by phone Saturday evening, said his daughter was fine.

“My daughter is not missing and at no time did I declare her missing,” Mr. Okeke said.
Mr. Okeke said after the scandal sent shockwaves across the country, the family immediately moved to save Miss Okeke, 20, from committing suicide.

Mr. Okeke said he handed over his “little girl” to another family member because he had to travel to the family’s ancestral home for another engagement.

He denied news report quoting him as declaring his daughter missing in the aftermath of the racy video.

“I have been trying to make contact with one of The Sun newspapers that published the story because they want to sell (market) and I will give them a seven-day notice to correct it,” Mr. Okeke said.

But The Sun says it stands by its story.

Bruce Malogo, the editor of Saturday Sun which published the story, told Premium Times the headline was appropriate for the direct quotes from Mr. Okeke, which he said were on the record.

“As it stands now, my daughter is still a small girl. I don’t know whether she is still alive or dead. But all I know is that God will prove Himself worthy to fight His children’s battle. I don’t have much to say for now,” the paper quoted Mr. Okeke as saying.

Mr. Okeke, however, maintained his ground.

“I did not tell press man that called me from The Sun that my daughter is missing or that I couldn’t find her,” Mr. Okeke reaffirmed.
Specifically, Mr. Okeke said he told The Sun reporter that the family was holding on to God for a breakthrough in the wake of the scandal.
“I will allow them (police) to do that (their job), but I know my daughter was drugged by some people who took advantage of her as a young woman.”

Another EFCC Probe Links Obanikoro to Millions from Diezani

Former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has been fingered in a new N400m scam.

Impeccable sources at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission disclosed that Obanikoro, who was released last Friday, might be invited again soon to explain his alleged role in the scam.

The ex-minister, who returned from the United States on October 17, spent three weeks in the Abuja office of the EFCC for allegedly receiving N4.7bn from the then NSA and distributing over N3bn to Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State and Senator Iyiola Omisore, the PDP governorship candidate in Osun State in 2014.

For that, Obanikoro returned N100m to the EFCC with a promise to return another N480m.

His American and Nigerian passports were subsequently seized before his release last Friday.

An EFCC detective told Punch that recent investigations showed that Obanikoro allegedly received N400m from a former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, who was the Director of Finance of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation during the build-up to the 2015 elections.

The source said sometime in 2015, Usman sent the money to Obanikoro through a proxy.

The detective said, “As part of investigations into the billions disbursed by Nenadi Usman during the build-up to the 2015 elections, we interrogated a suspect at our office. The suspect told us that he handed over N400m to Obanikoro in the presence of some PDP members.

“So, Obanikoro will be invited to the Lagos office of the EFCC to tell his own side of the story.”

The EFCC had alleged in March that about N3.145bn was mysteriously transferred from the account of the ONSA, domiciled in the Central Bank of Nigeria, to the account of Joint Trust Dimensions Limited, a company allegedly owned by Usman.

Mrs. Usman was said to have transferred N840m to the account of the Director of Publicity of the organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode, in Zenith Bank on February 19, 2015, while she allegedly gave former SGF, Chief Olu Falae, N100m on the instruction of a PDP stalwart, Chief Tony Anenih.

Usman and Fani-Kayode have since been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos and their accounts frozen.

Apart from the ONSA fund, Usman allegedly disbursed a separate N23bn to various states during the build-up to the elections.

The money Usman disbursed allegedly emanated from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The money, which was $115m but converted to N23bn, was alleged to have been kickbacks from some dubious oil contractors involved in oil theft.

The EFCC has, so far, grilled about 16 ex- governors and ministers over the N23bn Diezani sleaze.
