Man Arrested And Placed In A Police Cell After Duping His Fiancee


A man identified as Chidi Okere has been arrested and placed in a police cell for allegedly duping his fiancee. According to lawyer and human rights activist, Emeka Ugwuonye, the man promised the lady marriage before borrowing money she kept for brother and then disappeared.According to the report by Emeka, the fiancee begged him to return the money or to pledge to return the money. He refused. He played her. She begged him. He played her. She went to the police. He evaded arrest for a whole year before he was later arrested.The man reportedly pleaded with the lady at the police station for the matter to be settled peacefully all to no avail as he's set to spend the weekend behind bars

See How Woman Stabbed Rival's 18-Year Old Son To Death



A woman simply identified as Rukayat Abdulkareem has stabbed her rival’s son to death over a man in Kubwa area of Abuja.

The altercation which led to the unfortunate incident began at about 10:00 p.m., on Thursday when the woman confronted the said rival over her missing husband.

The woman’s daughter was also stabbed during the scuffle.

The victim, Awal Sani, an 18- year- old 200-level student of Statistics at the University of Abuja, was stabbed in the chest while trying to calm Abdulkareem who came to insult his mother.


The deceased was expected back in school on January 15.

The incident took place around the refuse dump site area of Kubwa in Abuja.

The younger brother to the victim’s mother spoke to The Nation saying;

He said: “Between 10:00 p.m. and 10.30 p.m., yesterday (Thursday), I heard someone banging on the door and came outside, I asked her what she wanted and she said she was looking for her husband. I know the woman, they were living close to us here in Pipeline before they packed to Kaduna road. I told her that I would check and see if I can call the husband for her. I went inside, I met my sister and informed her that the man’s wife was outside looking for him, my sister said she was going to meet the woman, I tried to stop her and told her she was not the one the woman came for but she insisted. so I followed her because I didn’t want any problem.

“We met the woman and then I realised that if they start talking, it may result to another thing. So, I asked my sister to go inside and went to pipeline police station. I invited a policeman, he asked the woman what the problem was, she said she was here to see her husband. The policeman asked her to follow him to the station so she can write a statement and they will return to pick her husband. But she said she was not going anywhere so the policeman left.

“I went inside the house and the next thing I heard was that they had stabbed Awal. I rushed out, we did all we could to save him. We rushed him to the hospital and the doctor confirmed him dead and we brought him back home. She had left when I rushed out but the vigilante men caught and brought her later and we kept her till the police arrived.”

This news was contained in a statement Friday by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina.

Transgender Big Brother Star, Rebekah Shelton Dies Unexpectedly At 32

Big Brother star Rebekah Shelton has died aged 32. Rebekah, who shot to fame on the 2009 series of the reality TV show pre-transition, passed away on Wednesday.

The sad news was announced on her Twitter page in the early hours of today.

"We’re sorry to inform everyone of the sad news that our wonderful and lovely Rebekah died unexpectedly on Wednesday night," the tweet read.

"We ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time."


Her followers soon rushed to pay tribute, with one sharing; "God, how awful! I'm so sorry.

"I remember watching her on Big Brother a few years ago and I loved her personality. And she achieved so much through her transition."

Another wrote: "Oh no. This is heartbreaking news. Love and prayers to you all."

Brazilian star Rebekah's last tweet was shared on 19 November and featured a black and white profile picture of her.

50-Year-Old Divorcee Nabbed For Sodomising Seven Boys In Niger

A 50-year-old man, Abdullahi Haruna, of Nasko community in the Magama Local Government Area of Niger State,   has admitted sodomising seven underage boys in Getagi village.

Haruna was said to have had regular sexual intercourse with the teenagers for a long time until he was nabbed.

He was alleged to have drugged his victims so that he could have his way with them. The suspect, who is being held in the police custody, said, “I have been into this act for over three years and I cannot  explain why am still doing it, but one thing was certain, I know that the police would apprehend me one day.”

Northern City News gathered that Haruna divorced his wife sometime ago and took to defiling young boys in Getagi village.


When asked what led him to the act, Haruna said, “I cannot state exactly why I was engaging in the act; I remember that I became involved in it since I divorced my wife.

“I usually give them (victims) little gift items and some herbs with which to take their bath before the intercourse so that they would not reject my advances. May God forgive me,” he said.

The command public relations officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the arrest of the suspect on Thursday, adding that a team of policemen arrested him on a tip-off.

He said the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigations.

Most Wanted Niger Delta Militant, Karowei, Arrested In Delta State

The wanted kidnapper, Peregbakumo Oyawerikumo, aka, Karowei, who have been terrorising some local government areas in Bayelsa and Delta states was captured on Thursday morning by soldiers attached to “Operation Delta Safe”. 

The Guardian reported that Karowei who hails from Buturu Local government of Delta state surrendered himself to men of the military operation at Ogbobagene, Burutu Local government area of Delta state, on Thursday morning.

The notorious Militant leader of the Toru-Ndoro community was alleged to have beheaded a Naval officer, who was at the local government for a peace mission last December.

It will be recalled that soldiers have reportedly staged a reprisal attack on the Toru-Ndoro area on January 3, and according to the villagers set ablaze about 50 houses, with many of the residents deserting their residences for fear of further attacks.

Concerned by the Gruesome Murder of Innocent people in Omoku Rivers state on the 1st January, 2018 by the vicious and Notorious kidnap for ransom and cult syndicate leader Don Wanny and his gang. The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni set-up special Police joint investigation team, comprising the IGP-Intelligence Response Team, the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, Force Department of Operations and the Rivers State Police Command to immediately unravel those behind the killings and bring them to Justice.

2. The IGP-Intelligence Response Team attached to the Joint Police Special Investigation Team engaged some of the suspects in their hideouts in Awara Forest boundary between Imo and Rivers State, the shoot out lasting several hours resulted in the death of six (6) of the suspects while others escaped with bullet wound injury to other locations in Rivers, Delta, Imo and Bayelsa States and the Police Teams are currently on their trail.

3. The IGP-Intelligence Response Team working on an actionable intelligence further identified Desmond Okotubo who escaped on the 3rd January, 2018 to Abuja after a shoot out with the Police Team in a location in Imo State, he was trailed to Mpape in Abuja where he was arrested after serious resistance on the 9th January, 2018.

4. This principal Suspect, Desmond Okotubo 32yrs, is a Native of Egbenma from Unelga LGA Rivers State Confessed to be one of the masterminds of the gang and actively participated in the killings of innocent people in Omoku Rivers state on the New Year day. He further gave details of how they planned the Operation in Awara Town Imo State before they carried out the act.

5. The suspect, Desmond Okotubo also revealed to the Police how their Gang leader Don Wanny gathered them and briefed them on the night of 31st January, 2017 on the mission to attack and kill the residents of Omoku town. Thirty (30) of them Armed with over Twenty (20) AK47 Rifles crossed the river from Awara to Omoku forest and proceeded to Omoku town and opened fire on innocent Citizens celebrating the new year.

6. Investigation is being intensified to arrest other members of the gang still at large to get to the root of the matter. The suspect will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

7. The renewed commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to guarantee adequate protection of lives and property across the country remains unequivocal and unwavering.

Police Inspector’s Head Found In C’River Shrine

The Cross River State Police Command on Thursday paraded a 54-year-old man, Valentine Ebani, for being in possession of the decomposed head of a police inspector, Michael James, who was recently killed in Uyanga, in the Akamkpa Local Government Area of the state.

Ebani, who was identified as the chief priest and village head of Uyanga, was arrested along with seven others who were suspected to have killed the inspector and taken his head to the village shrine.

James was killed and beheaded in Uyanga on December 25, 2017 during a communal clash between Uyanga and neighbouring Ojor, both in the Akamkpa LGA.


The communities had in recent times been involved in violent communal clashes that had claimed the lives of several persons, while property worth millions of naira was destroyed.

James, who was attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Enugu, had taken his family on a visit to his in-laws at Ojor village when he was beheaded by rioting youths in Uyanga.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa, said the late policeman had visited his in-law, ASP Dominic Umoh, in Ojor village when the incident happened.

“While buying fuel, Uyanga youths, without provocation, attacked, killed and beheaded him. His corpse has yet to be found. However, his severed head has been recovered at Uyanga shrine.

“The youths also seized the late inspector’s AK-47 rifle, with double magazines and set ablaze his Toyota Sienna, with number plate, ENU 683 NK,” he said.

Inuwa said police investigation led to the arrest of Isaac Akpan, Benjamin Abakum, Patrick Edet and Famous Archibong.

Other suspects are Effiong Odu, Ndifon Arong and Wisdom Inok.

The police boss said items recovered from the suspects included one locally-made pistol, 17 empty cartridges, underwear of the deceased and one human skull.

The commissioner also said the command arrested no fewer than 529 suspected criminals during the festive period.
