Top Redeemed Church Pastor, Jailed For Allegedly Stealing N9m From Tenant

A top pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Jamiu Ishola Kolawole has been convicted and jailed for stealing the sum of N9m from his tenant, Dr. Emeka Ugwunze in Lagos. It was reported that the 60-year old Kolawole was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment without an option fine on Tuesday by the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adedayo of the Ogba Magistrates court, Lagos.
Pastor Kolawole was the Resident pastor of the RCCG, Ikosi Paris, Ketu District, Lagos before he committed the fraud.
P.M.Express reports that his journey to prison started after he approached the victim, Dr. Ugwunze and defrauded him of the said amount of money under false pretence.
The fraud took place at his two-storey building located at 2 Gbagada Road, Gbagada, Lagos where the victim was his tenant.
The parties negotiated for the house for N20m and the victim paid him N9m to effect the balance at an agreed period. He convinced the victim that he wanted to sell the house to him because the victim had assisted him in the past. And to prove to Dr. Ugwunze how serious and committed he was to the said transaction, Kolawole  handed him all the house documents remaining only for him to prepare the deed of agreement upon receipt of the full payment.
However, Kolawole disappeared after he obtained the initial money and refused to sign the deed of transfer for the transaction.

The matter was reported to the police, Kolawole was arrested and then charged before Isolo Magistrates court before the Magistrate was transferred to Ogba Magistrates court where he passed the judgment.
Pastor Kolawole had pleaded not guilty, was granted bail but was remanded in prison before he perfected his bail condition and the trial commenced two years ago.
During the trial, the facts of the matter were presented by the victim before the court beyond reasonable doubts that Kolawole committed the offence.
The court found him guilty as charged and sentenced him to 18 months imprisonment.
Meanwhile, P.M.EXPRESS confirmed that Kolawole was still facing another criminal charge before another court in Lagos for forgery. He was said to have forged the medical report of the Gbagada General Hospital to misleed the court that he was sick.
When the police investigated the medical report, it was discovered that he forged it and there was no such medical report from the hospital management. He was subsequently charged to court where he was still facing trial before he was convicted and jailed.Police source told our correspondent that his jail term will not stop the trial for forgery as he was expected to be coming from prison to face trial.

Court Nullifies Omo-Agege’s Suspension By Senate

The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the suspension of the Delta Central Senator, Ovie Omo-Agege, by the Senate, describing the action as unconstitutional.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, in a judgment that lasted one hour on Thursday, held that while the National Assembly had the power to discipline its erring members, the premise on which Omo-Agege’s suspension was anchored was illegal.

Although the court refused to grant any of the seven prayers sought by the senator, ‎it held that the suspension could not hold on grounds of the “violence” it did to the Constitution.

The judge noted that from the wording of the report of the Senate’s Ethics and Privileges Committee which recommended Omo-Agege’s suspension, he was punished for filing a suit against the Senate after apologising to the legislative house over the allegation leveled against him.

“Access to court is a fundamental right in the Constitution, which cannot be taken away by force or intimidation from any organ,” the judge ruled.

The judge also added that the Senate’s decision to punish Omo-Agege for filing a suit against the Senate and for punishing him while his suit was pending constituted an affront on the judiciary.

He added that even if the Senate had rightly suspended the senator, it could only have suspended him for only a period of 14 days — as prescribed in the Senate rules.

He also ruled that the principle of natural justice was breached by the Senate’s Ethics and Privileges Committee by allowing Senator Dino Melaye, who was the complainant, to participate in the committee’s sitting that considered the issue and also allowed him to sign the committee’s report.

The judge therefore nullified Omo-Agege’s suspension “with immediate effect.”

He also ordered that the senator be paid all his allowances and salaries for the period he was illegally suspended.

“He has also failed in providing for my general maintenance and I cannot bear it anymore.
“That is why I am begging this honourable court to bring the marriage to an end by doing the needful,” she said.

Bima said that he would give the couple a chance to try and resolve their differences amicably.

England Footballer Is Blackmailed For £500k After Being Caught Having S*x With An Escort

An England footballer who was caught having sex with an escort is allegedly the target of a £500,000 blackmail plot.

The sportsman was said to be having sex with the woman in a hotel room when they were interrupted by two men who burst into the room, The Sun reports.

The pair demanded payment from the ace and threatened to expose the affair to his long-term partner.

But the player who cannot be named managed to escape through a bedroom window and later called the police.

A source told The Sun: 'He offered to leave a key card at reception for her to let herself in.

'But she knocked at his door, allowing the player to let her in, before stripping to have sex.

'Moments later, two men collected the card from reception, burst in and angrily confronted the star.'

The footballer was also said to have left his possessions behind as he clambered out of the hotel room window.

It is believed that he left his mobile phone, car keys and other personal items.

The incident took place at the team's hotel as the unnamed sportsman played in an away match.

He was 'casually dating' the woman, it was alleged, but has now admitted what happened to his partner.

The source added that the footballer was 'determined' to stand his ground and pursue the blackmail threats legally.

It was claimed that a woman and man were arrested on suspicion of blackmail, but police have refused to comment too.
