Rodrigo Duterte has ordered police to carry out the standard procedures of his controversial war on drugs campaign even if his son is found guilty of criminal activities.
The Philippines president sparked international criticism for his strong anti-drugs stance, that has seen more than 9,000 civilians killed for links to drug dealing and use.
His eldest son, Paolo, has been accused as being a member of a Chinese organised crime syndicate and allegedly overseeing a drug-smuggling and drug lord protection scheme.
'My orders are to kill you if you are caught, and I will protect the police who kill you,' Mr Duterte said he told his 42-year-old son.
Paolo faced the Philippines Senate earlier this month accused of being involved with the triad gang, allegations he described as 'baseless' and founded upon 'rumours'.
He allegedly helped facilitate more than a tonne of ice being shipped into the country which has been ravaged by abuse and addiction.
In 2016, a retired policeman and former criminal accused Paolo of being the mastermind behind the operation. The claims were never proven.
During the hearing, he was asked by opposition Senator Antonio Trillane to remove his shirt and display a large tattoo on his back that allegedly proved he was a member of a Chinese faction.
Paolo acknowledged he has a tattoo on his back but refused to remove his shirt and show the hearing.
Senator Trillane also produced a report by an anti-smuggling group that claims they received intelligence that Paolo was also involved in the illegal importation of luxury cars and other items.
His father was asked about the case during a speech to workers at his palace in Manila Wednesday, where he confirmed he would hold his family to the same standards and would have no problem killing them.
President Duterte says he wants police to carry out normal procedures should his son be found guilty, to remain consistent and 'so the people can't say anything against me'.
'That's better… so I can say to people, 'There, you keep talking. That's my son's corpse'.'

Man who murdered wife walks free after giving police two buckets of KFC
The suspect is wanted for questioning in relation to the death of his girlfriend Itumeleng Beetha almost two months ago .
Beetha was found by her neighbours killed and burnt beyond recognition at her home outside Polokwane last month.
Her family has now filed another complaint of intimidation stating that the suspect was using the dead woman's cellphone to send messages threatening them to not cooperate with the police.
Among the messages seen by Sunday World, the sender said he had money and will never be brought to book. "You can go wherever you want to go, Money talks. U can do what makes u happy bt long u will cry again."
Limpopo police spokesman Moatshe Ngoepe said: "[Police] are on the heels of the elusive murder suspect. Allegedly the suspect called the police through his legal representative and promised to come and hand himself over ... which he never did."
The deceased's sister, Maggie, alleges that the suspect bribed police with buckets of KFC.
"We received a call from a policeman who said my late sister's boyfriend was at the police station with two buckets of KFC and they let him leave without arresting him," she said.
Maggie said the family was shocked by the police's inaction in failing to arrest him despite knowing where he lives and works. "It's clear that all the SMSes he sent to us boasting that money talks was true. He certainly bribed someone because they do speak to him but they don't arrest him."

British Tourist Faces Six Months In Dubai Jail For Flicking Middle Finger
A Brit holidaymaker faces six months in jail for giving a driver the middle finger during a road rage row in Dubai.
Jamil Mukadam, 23, said the gesture is considered a ‘public obscenity’ in the United Arab Emirate and treated as a serious offence.
He was on holiday in February when the incident happened. Jamil claims a driver came “up close behind me” and flashed his lights as he travelled to the airport.
As he pulled over to let the car past, those in the car were “screaming” at him so he stuck up a middle finger in response, he claims.
IT worker Jamil said he “thought nothing” of what had happened and flew home.
But Jamil, from Leicester, says when he returned to Dubai this month he was detained after his passport set off an alert.
He told The Sun:
“There was a loud beeping sound and, within seconds, I was surrounded by police.“I was two days in a cell with 172 others including a murderer and rapist. I had no bed, blanket or food.“Now I can’t leave my hotel because I don’t have my passport and I’ll run out of money by the end of the week.”
It could now be several months before Jamil gets a court date and faces either six months in jail or a hefty fine.

Simi Explain Why He Only Featured Adekunle Gold On Her Album
Singer Simisola Ogunleye has revealed why Adekunle Gold was the only artiste featured on her sophomore album.
Although the pair’s rumoured romance has been put forward on social media as the probable reason, the ‘Joromi’ singer, in a chat with HipTV, said Adekunle Gold barely made the cut to be on the album.
She said: “The only reason why I have just Adekunle Gold on the album is because after we had done all the songs we were going to do, the only song that had a feature that made the finalist was the one that Adekunle Gold was on. There is no big story.”
The singer also spoke about her recent proclamation that Nigerian men aren’t romantic, which she was heavily criticised for.
“My take is that nobody is allowed to cheat in a relationship but they do it anyway. If a man cheats, he’s scum, if a woman cheats, she’s scum. Obviously, people are harder on women if it happens with women and that’s ridiculous,” she said.
“I feel like if you value something you have, if you value somebody you’re with you’re going to do your best to treat them right and make sure that they feel special. It’s the same for both guys and girls. That’s the way I handle it.”
The artiste further said everyone deserves to be treated equally, irrespective of gender.
She said: “It is a man’s world because we let it be a man’s world. It’s not a man’s world because they have any special powers. It’s not a woman’s world because we have special powers. It’s a human beings world.
“We are all supposed to be good to each other, I’m supposed to value you as a man and you’re supposed to value me as a woman. Nobody is better than anybody.”
Simi, who is reveling in the growing success of her new album, says she’s been overwhelmed by its reception.
“Acceptance of the album has been extremely amazing. People have been very supportive. I’m excited to be experiencing this right now,” she said.
The 15-track eponymous album, Simisola, was released about two weeks ago.

“We have the records. We know IPOB collects money from many people from diaspora. They collect money from many people in Nigeria they collect money from some foreign countries. This is clear.
“Let me tell you, the financial headquarters is in France. We know but you see, can you as a government stop sending money to your parents? You have to block the sources of finance. That is what I said recently.
“It is incontrovertible that some people in diaspora contribute money to IPOB. Where does he get his money from? We know this as a fact.
“Again, there are a few very naughty diplomatic issues which you need to skip. For instance who does not know that the IPOB internal radio is located in London? We know the diplomatic moves we have been taking and approaching the UK. All the damages it has done but they don’t see it that way. For them it’s about freedom of expression.
“If we have a person in Nigeria openly soliciting arms to come and fight the UK, what would you think of? Would you consider that freedom of expression?
