Pregnant Doctor Goes Into Labour While Delivering Patient's Baby (Photo)
Dr. Emily Jacobs, her husband Ryan Jacobs, and their son, Jett, now one month old.
Emily Jacobs, a 28-year-old pregnant doctor unexpectedly went into early labour while delivering another woman’s child, ABC News reports.
The doctor, an OB-GYN resident at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, welcomed a baby boy, Jett Jacobs.
Jacobs told the ABC News that she thought the amniotic fluid she noticed during the delivery was that of the patient.
She said, “I noticed what I thought was amniotic fluid of the patient as the baby was delivering.
“It wasn’t until I left the room when I realized that it was my water that had broken.
“I was freaking out a little bit because we were still seeing patients and [my supervisor] just kind of smiled and told me to go back in one of the triage rooms and wait for her to confirm that it was my water.”
Keely Ulmer, Jacobs’ colleague, mentioned that she was surprised Jacobs had gone into labour a month earlier, adding that it was a pleasure helping her with the delivery.
Ulmer who is also 28 years old said, “I happened to be on Labour and Delivery, so it was a pretty special experience to share with a special classmate.
“She did a wonderful job and her husband was very supportive. I am grateful to be part of the experience.”
A first-time mom, Jacobs believes her unique birth story has made her a better doctor who is “more understanding” of her expectant patients, she said.
“It’s definitely made me more empathetic and more aware of what it’s like going through some pregnancy complications.
“People will come in [who are] in preterm labour often … very worried about the health of their baby and health of themselves. Until [I went] through it, I can definitely appreciate just how worried and nervous you get.”
The baby is now 7-weeks-old, at home and doing well, the report has said.

An IG uer who goes by the name Ingrid Adaeze Okonta (@i.o.okonta) has called out Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha,for destroying a rental property worth N60 million, belonging to her grandma.
According to Ingrid, Rochas did not give them proper notice or compensation!

My grandma Chief/Mrs. P.A Nwameme built this 3 story rental property with 18 first level storefronts in Mgbidi,IMO State in 1976. Governor Rochas and his evil contractors only gave her verbal notice to remodel the building to the standard of the new market. So my mother and her siblings decided to call from the U. S to look for a contractor who can remodel the three story building. The plan was when a suitable contractor was found, my mother and her siblings will all go to Nigeria in order to supervise the renovation. Before we knew it, my mother got a call from Nigeria that my grandmother's three story building was bulldozed. Governor Rochas and his evil contractors never gave any time for a renovation. With no type of remorse he destroyed a 60million Naira worth building, with no compensation. This is illegal and shameful on the governor's part. People live in that three story building and they have their businesses there. He has displaced so many people.My grandmother is a widow and this is one of her retirement incomes. This is so wrong on every level. They encourage Igbo people in diaspora to come back to Nigeria to develop but , yet they are destroying our property. It is very discouraging to want give back when your own people treat you like rubbish.

An actress, Maureen Wanza died while giving birth in Kilifi County, Kenya on Tuesday as health services in public hospitals around the country remained grounded due to the clinical officers and nurses’ strike.
The nurses’ strike has lasted for 106 days.
According to DailyNation, Maureen had been rushed to a private clinic after developing complications.
“It was an emergency. While at the facility, her situation worsened as she gave birth. She bled to death. Unfortunately, her baby also died minutes later,” Ashiners Films CEO Ann Hamburg said.
Her death comes at a time when hundreds of patients in the county are seeking treatment in private hospitals due to the industrial action that has paralysed services in all public hospitals.

‘I caught my wife making love to my driver ’ – Businessman tells court
A businessman, Moses Ojiekomhan, yesterday told an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, that he caught his wife, Joy, in bed with his driver Emeka Osuh, at their Lagos home.
Ojiekomhan, the Managing Director of Legend Logistics and Integrated Concept Limited, Ikeja, stated this during Joy’s arraignment on a two count-charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Joy pleaded not guilty, TheNationonline reports.
The mother of two, through her counsel Mr. J. Uwabuche, accused Ojiekomhan of abducting their 18-month-old baby.
According to the police, in a charge marked G38/2017, last June 30 around 11:30am, Joy, 37, conspired with Osuh, who is now at large, to steal N1,136,400 belonging to Legend Logistics and Integrated Concept.
According to prosecuting counsel, Mr. E. I. Onine, the alleged offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Uwabuche, who urged the court to admit Joy to bail on liberal terms, said the matter was between husband and wife, and that reconciliation was ongoing between their family members.
This was not opposed by Onine.
Before her ruling, Chief Magistrate Helen Omisore turned to Ojiekomhan and sought confirmation of the duo’s relationship.
Ojiekomhan replied: “We once lived together as husband and wife but we are now separated. They have charged me to court for child abduction. I caught Emeka, who is a driver in my company, sleeping with her in my house.”
The prosecutor added that police investigation found that the two were once husband and wife, but separated after Ojiekomhan found Joy and Osuh in his bed.
Uwabuche, however, pointed out that Ojiekomhan took away their 18-month-old baby from the defendant.
“An Ogba Chief Magistrates’ Court, in Court 4, has even issued a warrant of arrest against him,” the defence counsel said.
He stated that Joy’s arraignment was a ploy by the police to prevent her from appearing in court today to testify as a witness on the child abduction charge against him.
Following the conflicting claims, Magistrate Omisore called for the case file, examined it, and ruled on the defendant’s bail.
She said: “The defendant is hereby granted N500,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum. One of the sureties must be a relative to the defendant, have three years tax certificate payable to the Lagos State government. Both the home and office addresses of the sureties must be verified by the prosecutor.”
The case continues on September 27.

Dangote Appeal To public to help monitor truck drivers Via Hotlines For Report
The Management of Dangote Industries Limited (Dangote Group) has issued a passionate appeal to members of the public to assist in monitoring and reporting both recklessness and illegal haulage of contrabands goods by some of its truck drivers. The company has also set up hotlines for the public to report such truck drivers, with a promise to appropriately compensate calls that lead to arrest of errant drivers.
Noting that trucks belonging to Dangote Cement are only allowed to carry Cement, High Grade Gypsum and Coal; those belonging to Dangote Sugar (NASCON) are authorize to carry only Salt and Dan Q seasoning and trucks belonging to Agrosacks, the bags producing arm of Dangote group, can only carry bags, belonging to Dangote flour Mills, Wheat, Flour and Danvita.
The Management of Dangote Group in a statement alerting and encouraging the public to report any suspected Dangote Truck driver involved in illegal haulage provided hotlines to make such reports
“Please call Dangote Industries Limited Management hotline on all information regarding illegal haulage activities on 01- 2123567, 08070188000, 08170023846, 08152093133 and or email customercare@dangote.com”
Dangote Group Management also issued a stern warning to those illegally transporting unauthorized goods through its trucks. “Dangote Industries Limited also wishes to warn those that illegally transport materials on Dangote truck that such unauthorized goods, when found, shall be confiscated and such owners prosecuted to the full extent of the law”
It would be recalled that the company recently intercepted one of the company’s truck loaded with contrabands in Ibadan, arrested the drivers and handed them over the Nigerian customs for further investigations and prosecutions. The arrest was effected by a crack team of the company’s security personnel led by its Chief Security Officer who acted on intelligence, bordering on misconduct by some of its drivers.
While handing over the drivers and his motor boy to the Customs Authority, Assistant General Manager, in charge of Security Services, CSP Ali Garba explained that the company has a surveillance section that monitors all his trucks and drivers’ activities.

Native Doctor Pays N200k To Get Man Killed In Enugu
Enugu Police Command has arrested a native doctor, Akor, who allegedly paid N200,000 to another man, Idoko of Ifuroka Amala in Udenu Local Government Area, of the state, to kill one Onyemaechi Eze on July 5.
It was gathered that the native doctor paid the suspect N200,000 to kill the victim. The suspect, it was gathered, after committing the murder in his community, fled to an unknown destination, but was later arrested on September 16, at Inyi in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, where he was hiding.
According to a statement by Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Ebere Amaraizu, “a suspect, Idoko of Ifuroka Amalla Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State, has been nabbed by the operatives of the Udenu Division of the Nigeria Police Force in partnership with the members of the public.
“The suspect, who fled after committing the alleged offence, was nabbed on September 16 at Inyi in Igboeze North Local Government Area, Enugu State, through a well-coordinated operation borne out of intelligence information.
“It could be recalled that the suspect, alongside others, had allegedly murdered one Onyemaechi Eze on July 5 over a yet to be established issue and escaped to avoid being nabbed.
“The suspect is helping the Police in their investigations as he has given insight on how he and his gang collected N200,000 from a native doctor, Akor, who he alleged to have hired them to murder Onyemachi Eze.
“Akor have been nabbed by the Police and he is also helping the operatives in their investigations in relation to his alleged nefarious activities.”
