Female Banker Absconds With Customers' N65million

A 33-year-old outsourced worker of Stanbic Bank (pictured above) has been declared wanted by the Police for allegedly defrauding scores of customers of the bank.

She works in the Ghana branch of the bank. The police in Ghana have launched a manhunt for her over the fraud said to be over GH¢900,000.

It was gathered that the suspect identified as Martha Amakye, who is said to be an outsourced worker from a recruitment agency, absconded after the Financial Crime Control Unit of the bank found out she was involved in some fraudulent transactions.

Amakye, a personal solution consultant or sales officer at the Tema Community One branch of Stanbic Bank, is said to have collected various sums of money from customers of the bank between 2015 and 2016 on the pretext of investing it in fixed deposits.

After that, she promised the customers interest rate of between 18 and 20 per cent per month, all this she did without the consent of the management of the bank. The victims and many other customers were lured with the promise of high interest rate on their investment.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Commercial Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service and the Financial Crime Control Unit of the bank, according to the sources, had revealed that most of the victims paid their funds meant for the investment to Amakye in the banking hall, while others gave the money to her outside the bank.

After collecting the money, Amakye is said to have issued the victims with copies of suspected fake deposit slips.

At a point, the sources said, she allegedly paid what she claimed to be interest accrued from the fixed deposit investment to some of the initial investors but retained the principal amounts, with the explanation that the amount would be reinvested.

Subsequently, more customers from other branches trooped to the Tema Community One branch of the bank on hearing about the juicy package.

The sources said the bank had so far received a number of complaints from victims whose money had been collected by Amakye.

Amakye’s pictures have been posted on Stanbic Bank’s Facebook timeline, with a message that urged anyone with information on her whereabouts to call the police.

Customers have also been encouraged to always make payments directly to tellers and demand receipts or stamped payment slips for all payments.

US based couple died of generator fume, not food poisoning by brother - Doctor

It was reported yesterday that a Liberian couple based in Minnesota lost their lives after they returned home for Christmas and allegedly ate poisoned food served by their brother.
FrontPageAfrica has authoritatively gathered from family and investigative sources that the death of the couple whose remains were found on December 25, 2016, their wedding anniversary day, at their Chocolate City residence in Monrovia, was a result from asphyxiation, secondary to carbon monoxide.


A family source informed FrontPageAfrica that they were informed by the Dr. Christopher Chinedu Obiorah, an Anatomical Pathologist from Nigeria, who conducted autopsy on the remains of Lawrence and Shelly Gross that he discovered that their remains had swollen brains which is consistent with carbon monoxide inhalation. .

Corroborating the preliminary autopsy report, FrontPage Africa also gathered from Police sources that a 1.5 KVA Ruina gasoline generator was placed in the garage of house to provide electricity for an air condition that was being installed in the guest room of the house where the Gross stayed.
According to a Police source, the garage in which the generator was placed did not have an opening for the smoke to exit; as a result the smoke circulated in the house.“The poisonous gas was concentrated in the deceased room which faced directly across the hallway where the inner door to the garage is located.

The house’s windows too are air tight so ventilation was very poor in the house. You see, the thing about carbon monoxide is that it is odorless, tasteless and colorless. It is very difficult to detect and it’s very dangerous.  

The sad thing was that there was no exhaust pipe connected to the generator for the smoke to exit the building,” the Police source said. Also writing on Gofundme, their son, said: "On December 23rd, Lawrenece and Shelly Gross Left Minneasota for Liberia to go celebrate their  wedding anniversary, which fell on December 25th. 

Unfortunately instead of this day being a day of celebration it became a day of tragedy. It was announced on Xmas Day they were found dead in their room from the suffocation of generator smoke."

Kidnapped Female Lecturer found dead inside Kogi forest

                         
A female lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, Christie O. Agbulu (pictured), who was kidnapped in Lokoja, Kogi State on November 26, 2016, has been found. Sadly, it was her lifeless body that was found.

Family sources say her corpse was found inside a forest in Kogi State.
Christie went missing after she left Makurdi on November 25, 2016 to visit a friend in Lokoja, Kogi state capital. Her abductors collected ransom from her family but still did not release her. 

Efforts to locate her whereabouts proved abortive until yesterday when her decomposing body was found in the forest. How sad!

Flying Eagles Star Wilfred Ndidi Joins Leicester City

Leicester City has announced Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi has signed a five and half year contract from Belgian club KRC Genk. Leicester announced on their official website they have agreed a permanent transfer for Ndidi.

Maria Sharapova has been enjoying some bikini beach time in Hawaii over New year.

The currently suspended professional tennis player, 29, showed off her rock hard abs over the weekend as she frolicked on the island of Lanai.

Maria is serving out the term of a drug ban imposed by the International Tennis Federation in June, back-dated to January.

Once her ban ends, it's expected she'll be back on the courts to compete at the French Open in May.

Married Man Dies In Hotel Room After Taking Viagra

                           

A middle-aged man, identified as Samson, was found dead in a hotel room at Ugboroke in Uvwie area of Delta State after allegedly taking an overdose of s*x-enhancing drug.

It was said that the man, married with 3 kids, was found dead with his man-hood standing erect.

Sources close to the deceased said he had boasted in a beer parlour of his plan to use s*x-enhancing drug to impress a new girlfriend he had been wooing for three months.

Another source, who spoke in confidence, said the deceased, believed to be in his late 30s, had gone for the opening of a drinking bar, where he decided to visit a nearby chalet with his girlfriend.

The source said the victim had talked of having a great time with his lover, after taking two bottles of alcohol, and one of the friends suggested he should buy one over-the-counter “manpower” drug.

“After having intercourse for a long time, he could not eja-culate and must have died from the stress of the consistent hardness. He was overpowered by the drug and it was the first time he took such a drug.

“He is not much of a drinker. He is married and has three little children,” the source said.

Asked about the whereabouts of the lover, the source said she ran away on discovering that the man was dead while the corpse had been deposited at a morgue in Warri Central Hospital.

A senior police officer, who did not want to be quoted, confirmed the incident but said none of the families was interested in reporting the case to the Police.

Nigerian Army restricts soldiers from posting pictures, videos on social media

The Nigerian army has barred its men from uploading pictures and videos of their operations on social media.
According to Daily Trust, Adeniyi Oyebade, a lieutenant-general and general officer commanding (GOC) 1 Division Mechanized Army, Kaduna, gave the directive on Tuesday.

Oyebade said this when he represented Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, at the graduation ceremony of Men of Nigerian Battalion (NIBBAT) 46, which held at the Nigerian Army Peace Keeping Centre (NAPKC), Jaji in Kaduna.
“It is prohibited to upload any picture with your uniforms while in operation,” he was quoted as saying. 

Specifically, I want to warn you on the use of social media. While you are on operation, you may want to take photo shot of some good moment but you should be very careful while doing that.

Avoid any picture or video that has to do with your colleague or operation. You are barred not to upload such information. It is prohibited to upload any picture with your uniforms while in operation because it will become a pragmatic problems for the Nigerian Army.”

Soldiers participating in the fight against insurgency are fond of posting pictures and videos on social media, especially after victories over insurgents.
