Justine Damond, the woman fatally shot by a Minneapolis police officer
after she called 911 for help, had just reported a possible rape in the
alley behind her house before the shooting, according to a transcript of
the call.
"I can hear someone out the back and I, I'm not sure if she's having sex
or being raped," Damond told the 911 operator at 11:27 p.m. last
Saturday. "I think she just yelled out 'help,' but it's difficult -- the
sound has been going on for a while."
The operator repeated that Damond couldn't see anything related to the attack, but that she could hear a woman screaming.
"It sounds like sex noises, but it's been going on for a while and I
think she tried to say help and it sounds distressed," Damond added.
Eight minutes later, Damond called 911 again because Minneapolis police had still not arrived.
"No one's here and [I] was wondering if they got the address wrong," she said.
An incident report released by authorities indicates that police arrived four minutes after Damond's second call.
One of the responding officers then told a dispatcher they had a "code
four," which means no back-up or further assistance was required.
By 11:41 p.m., Damond had been shot in the abdomen, which was indicated
by one of the officers who told dispatch, "One down. starting CPR."
Minnesota's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the law enforcement body
investigating the shooting at the request of the Minneapolis Police
Department, said police officer Matthew Harrity told authorities that he
and partner Mohamed Noor heard a "loud noise" just before the shooting.
Noor is accused of shooting Damond after the pair arrived at the scene,
although it remains unclear why it occurred. BCA said Noor has refused
to be interviewed by investigators.
Damond, 40, was a trained veterinarian and yoga instructor who was
scheduled to be married in August. A native of Australia, her death has
gained widespread attention there.

Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos has returned from Barcelona
after a "private visit" that came a month after the 74-year-old leader
spent several weeks in the Spanish city receiving medical treatment.
Dos Santos, Africa's second-longest ruler, arrived in Luanda late on
Wednesday after leaving for Spain on July 3, authorities said, without
giving details of his trip or his condition.
It was his second visit to Spain in the last three months.
Foreign minister Georges Chikoti confirmed on May 29, during dos
Santos's previous visit to Spain, that he had gone there for medical
reasons.
Dos Santos's previous trip sparked speculation over his health, and
private media reported that Angola's leader of 38 years had suffered a
stroke, although the government declined to comment on his condition.
Dos Santos is due to step down as president, and general elections have been set for Aug. 23.
So a Seoul court today ordered Samsung Group heiress Lee Boo-jin to
provide assets of 8.6 billion won ($7.64 million) to her estranged
husband in a divorce from the ex-employee of a Samsung affiliate.
Lee, the 46-year-old chief executive of Hotel Shilla and daughter of
ailing Samsung Group patriarch Lee Kun-hee, received sole custody of
their son in the ruling, a spokeswoman for the Seoul family court told
Reuters. If appealed within two weeks, however, the ruling is not final,
the spokeswoman added.

her mom Halima Hassan. This is coming barely two months after the death

A teenager was found hanged in her school’s toilets after telling her
mum and boyfriend bullies told her to “go back to your own country”.
16 year old Dagmara Przybysz,fromPoland said girls at school had called
her a “stupid Pole” in the days before her death at Pool Academy near
Redruth, Cornwall.
Teachers took 90 minutes to find Dagmara after she went missing from class.
They also failed to perform CPR despite being told to by a 999 call
handler, and didn’t record incidents she reported to staff as bullying.
Before her death,she was also looking forward to her Year 11 prom and had gone shopping for a dress.
In the days before her death, Dagmara sent boyfriend Lewis Simpson a message saying:
“Not the best day at school, people saying things about me because I am from Poland. I don’t even know their names.'”
Her mum Ewelina said in a statement her daughter was a ”very beautiful
lady”, got on better with boys and most of her friends, including her
boyfriend, went to another school.
She said her daughter had been having a problem with one girl who had ”called Dagmara names”
.Mrs Przybysz said:
“‘I don’t know exactly what was said.This incident occurred only a few
days before Dagmara passed away… I don’t know whether these incidents
were racist in nature; however, I can say that on several occasions she
overheard comments such as ‘stupid Pole’.’”We think the biggest problem

After multiple bashing from Nigerian celebrities, The
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has denied
saying that the Federal Government will ban the overseas production of
Nigerian movies and music.
Mohammed
noted this on Tuesday evening while reacting to an outcry by artistes
over reports saying he hinted at the ban when he visited the
headquarters of the Copyright Society of Nigeria in Lagos.
During a
briefing at the end of a two-day Creative Industry Financing
Conference, with the theme ‘Financing the Film, Television and Music
Industries,’ held at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Mohammed said FG would
not tamper with the aspirations and rights of the artistes and
producers.
He said,
“At COSON, I said that I
would work to amend the National Broadcasting Commission’s code to
ensure that if a product is designated a Nigerian product, it must be
produced in Nigeria. I didn’t say that, henceforth, all music and films
would or must be produced in Nigeria.
“All I said was that if a
programme is designated as a Nigerian content programme, we will amend
the code to ensure that it is produced in Nigeria. I didn’t say I’ll ban
the production of Nigerian movies and videos overseas.”
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,
yesterday, disclosed that the Federal Government offered him Biafra
Republic while in Prison with only the five South East States as the
component parts but he rejected it.
According to him, he rejected it because that did not constitute the
complete Biafra, saying that he told them that he wanted a Biafra with
Rivers and Benue States inclusive.
The IPOB leader also claimed that he was offered an oil block and
mansion in Dubai aimed at making him to abandon the cause but that he
rejected them and insisted on the actualization of Biafra.
Kanu said those things were Greek gifts to buy him over and maintained
that he has no price other than to actualize the restoration of Biafra
Republic and liberate the Igbo.
“They gave me Biafra in prison with only the five Igbo states; I said
no, I want Benue and Rivers”, Kanu said, pointing out that “Biafra is
coming, there is nothing to stop it”.
