Falae submits mail evidence to EFCC linking GEJ to N100m election funds scam
A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, has submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission an email correspondence between him and a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih.
Falae tendered the email as evidence in the probe linking him to N100m election funds
It was learnt that Anenih, in the email, mentioned that he was acting on the instruction of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
A source at the EFCC said that in the email dated March 2015, Anenih, who played a supervisory role in the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, informed Falae that N100m had been approved by Jonathan and would be handed over to him (Falae).
A source at the EFCC said, “In the email, Anenih told Chief Falae, who is the Chairman of the SDP that N100m had been approved by President Jonathan as part of the agreement between the PDP and the SDP ahead of the presidential election.
“He further urged Falae to provide an account which the money would be paid into.”
The N100m, which was given to Falae by Anenih, was said to have emanated from the imprest account of the Office of the National Security Adviser in the Central Bank of Nigeria.
It was eventually paid into the account of Marreco Limited, where Falae is chairman. The fund was credited into the company’s United Bank for Africa Plc account, 1000627022, on March 25, 2015.
When contacted on the telephone, a spokesman for Falae, Mr. Alfa Mohammed, confirmed that 78-year-old Falae had submitted all correspondence between Falae and the PDP.
He said, “We had a letter of agreement between the PDP and the SDP regarding cooperation between the two parties for the election. There was an email from Anenih stating that Mr. President (Jonathan) told him to transfer the money to that effect.
“We have submitted everything to the EFCC, but the EFCC has not deemed it fit to invite Anenih which shows that it is people within the All Progressives Congress that are just trying to rubbish the image of Chief Falae, who has served meritoriously as a permanent secretary, SGF and a finance minister.”
Mohammed said the PDP still owed the SDP about N70m, and it was unrealistic of the EFCC to ask Falae to return the N100m.
He said Falae could not have known that the money emanated from the ONSA and thus could not be held liable.
The commission had finalised plans to charge the ex-SGF with conspiracy to retain indirectly the sum of N100m which he ought to have known formed part of the proceeds of an “unlawful act to wit: stealing.”
The EFCC had alleged in March that about N3.145bn was mysteriously transferred from the account of the ONSA to the account of Joint Trust Dimensions Limited, a company allegedly owned by the Director of Finance of the Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Senator Nenadi Usman.
Usman was said to have transferred N840m to the account of the Director of Publicity of the organization, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, in Maitama branch of the Zenith Bank with the number, 1004735721, on February 19, 2015, while she allegedly gave Falae N100m on the instruction of Anenih.
A former Governor of Imo State, Achike Udenwa, and a former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Viola Onwuliri, according to some documents, got N350m in two tranches. The first tranche of N150m was paid into their joint account with Zenith Bank on January 13, 2015. The second tranche of N200m was credited into their account with Diamond Bank.
Usman and Fani-Kayode had been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos and their accounts frozen while Udenwa and Falae are expected to be arraigned soon.
Attempts to reach the Media Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, were not successful as repeated calls to his mobile phones did not connect.
Similarly, a text message sent to his phones had yet to be delivered as of press time.
All attempts to speak with Anenih’s spokesman, Mr. Ojeifo Sufuyan, also proved abortive as his line did not connect, while a text message sent to his telephone had yet to be responded to as of 7 pm on Sunday.
However, in a letter he had personally written to the EFCC in January, Anenih admitted that he received N260m for Jonathan’s election campaign out of which he gave Falae N100m.
He, however, maintained that the ex-President still owed him N180m.
Anenih had said, “I was not in a position to ask the former President how he was going to source the fund. I was not a direct beneficiary of the sum of N260m that was a part refund of the money I spent on the president’s instructions.
“A sum of N63 million was disbursed to a northern group, led by elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, for mobilization and post-election peace advocacy in that part of the country.
“N100m was given to the National Chairman of the SDP, Chief Olu Falae, to enable the party to mobilize support and votes for the PDP presidential candidate since the SDP did not have a candidate for the election.”

Check out how 2 pastors bite and mercilessly beat up woman for refusing to join their church
There was pandemonium outside Bethsaida church, Dandora, when two pastors descended on a woman, beat her to a pulp and used their teeth to design her body while at it. Her offence was refusing to join their church in Nairobi County of Kenya.
According to Nairobi News, the woman identified as Ms Christine Mueni, claimed that Pastors Timothy Migwi and Maxwell Omari, ganged up with her husband George Makori and ruthlessly attacked her outside Bethsaida Church, in Dandora on August 24.
Not only that, the woman alleged that the two pastors bit her on the stomach while the husband punched and kicked her. She revealed that they attacked her for refusing to join their church.
“When I said I didn’t want to join the church, my husband punched and kicked me while the pastors bit me,” Ms Mueni was quoted by NairobiNews.
Speaking on his part, the husband who has since been locked up with the two pastors at Kinyago Police post in Dandora, denied the claims and said his wife of seven years had stabbed him twice on the right arm.
“We have been having arguments. She threatened to kill me on Wednesday morning and went ahead to stab me,” said Makori.
Mr Samuel Mbatia, a bishop at Bethsaida church who is also the couple’s landlord, said that he sent the two pastors to help Mr Makori who had raised an alarm that he had been attacked by the wife, The Kenyans reported.
“I sent them to help him because he said he was dying. The pastors took him to hospital,” Bishop Mbatia said.
The bishop said he was surprised after the wife accused the pastors of biting her.
Kylie Jenner banned from Tyga's Vegas show for being too young
According to reports, Kylie was banned from attending Tyga’s show at the Drai club in Las Vegas because she did not meet the club’s strict 21-and-over age limit.
The 19-year-old reality star was forced to stay in the couple’s hotel room while the rapper rocked the stage and performed his songs Hitmaker and Make It Nasty for the crowd.
Sadly, this won’t be the first time Kylie Jenner will be forced to miss out on Tyga’s show because of her age.
In 2014, Tyga had to cancel his appearance at a popular club in West Hollywood because the organisers refused to let Kylie, who was 17 then, into the club.
Also, Tyga was asked not to bring Kylie for a show at a university because the school was uncomfortable with their illegal relationship, plus the show was for 18-and-over.
However, Tyga blew them off and showed up with Kylie who ended up sitting backstage to watch the show.
This year, he left her at their hotel room to perform because his career definitely needs all the boosting it can get.
Brother seeks justice for sister "assaulted" by Indian employer in Lagos (Photos)
A man, who said his younger sister, Faith Nwaneri, was allegedly assaulted by her Indian employer in Lagos, has cried out for justice.
The man, Ignatius Chukwuka, alleged that the Indian, Jay Keswani, one of the Aswani Brothers, hit his sister with a briefcase on August 12 at his Benefista Tower, Banana Island residence and she fainted.
Chukwuka said his sister was Personal Assistant (PA) to the Indian’s wife and worked Fridays to Wednesday, with Thursdays being observed as her day off.
He said Nwaneri was delayed at the gate that morning as she didn’t have gate pass and had begged her way through in the last eight months, since her employers were yet to provide one for her.
Chukwuka claimed that when she eventually got into the residence, the man’s wife queried her for coming late and she explained that she was delayed at the gate for lack of pass.
Angered by her explanation, the woman was said to have confronted her husband, who then asked the young lady to give him the form he gave her to fill to commence the process.
Afraid that the Indian will tear the form like he usually did and fire her, Nwaneri, according to her brother, lied to him that she has submitted it, adding that she was just waiting for him to give her the money to process it.
“But when he insisted that he would follow my sister to the gate to collect the form at all cost, my sister seeing the anger in him quickly told him that she was still with the form and was waiting for him to give her the money so she could submit it for processing.
“He got furious that she lied to him and hit her with his briefcase. My sister fainted. At first, he thought it was a joke and hit her with his leg but when he pulled her over and noticed pool of blood, he quickly called his wife and they started pouring water on her head.
“At last, they revived her, left her at their apartment on the 19th Floor and left for the office. After my sister regained consciousness, she struggled through the back staircase to the basement, where a Good Samaritan helped her to Falomo police station, from there she was referred to Falomo Hospital, for treatment. There, my sister called me to come over and I paid the bills, then I took her home.
“When I contacted Mr Jay Keswani, to find out what would make an elderly man like him hit a lady, young enough to be his daughter and got her injured, he (Keswani ) claimed it’s an accident.
“The police at Falomo tried to invite him, but were refused entry into the island to serve him a letter of invitation. Security men at the tower claimed they were acting on instructions not to collect the invitation letter from the policeman who came to deliver the letter.
“The security men there at Benefista Tower also told us that they will do everything to silent the case, as they claimed it’s their responsibility to protect their clients as assigned. Since then, Keswani has been walking freely with no action taken against him.
“All efforts to reach him to resolve this matter by our lawyer proved abortive, as he has bluntly refused to comply.
“My question is what will prompt Keswani to hit a woman like that and claim it was an accident? If she had died in his apartment, perhaps, Keswani would have covered up this case, and had my sister thrown into the lagoon.
“Our lawyer wrote him for settlement and payment of compensation within seven days which ended yesterday (Saturday), but till now, there’s no response from him. It shows that this man has no regards for rule of law and Nigerian citizens,” he said.

40 FAKE NGOs Exploiting IDPs In Borno State- NSCDC
But how can some people be hearltess. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has discovered at least 40 fake non-governmental organisations (NGOs) exploiting internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Borno State.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, commandant of the NSCDC in the state, told NAN in Maiduguri on Sunday that the illegal NGOs were running nothing more than a certified scam by their actions.
“We discovered that many of them who are individual with office are only interested in posing with IDPs going through hardship to access funds from donors.
“We discovered that some of them, currently occupying most of the big hotels in town, are only interested in defrauding their donors by sending fake data, messages and pictures via Internet so as to access funds.
“When we interrogated some of them, they said they just came into the town and were trying to figure out the problems to enable them bring in their intervention.”
He therefore urged the government to be wary of “such elements parading themselves as NGOs”. He also said NSCDC would go after all the bad elements.”
It will be recalled that the Senate president on Saturday, called for the prosecution of those who “stole” food meant for displaced persons.
“Stealing food meant for starving children is beyond the pale and only adds insult to injury,” he said.
“Anyone that is found to be diverting the food aid deliveries should be investigated and brought to book if investigations prove their participation in these vicious schemes.”

Jibrin should undergo psychiatric tests over his budget padding allegations – Reps
Leaders of the House of Representatives said on Sunday that psychiatric tests should be conducted on its former Chairman, Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, to ascertain whether he was not facing health challenges.
The leaders, who were taken aback by Jibrin’s latest allegations that they pocketed “illegal” N10bn as office allowances between 2003 and this year, had also said his sudden change of focus from budget-padding allegations to the allowances of members, might be proof that he needed medical attention.
Jibrin, an All Progressives Congress lawmaker from Kano State, had on Friday last week, alleged that the 10 principal officers of the House had “embezzled” over N10bn allocated as “running costs” between 2003 and this year.
The officers are the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara; Deputy Speaker, Yussuff Lasun; House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila; Chief Whip, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa; Deputy Leader, Buba Jibril; Deputy Whip, Pally Iriase; Minority Leader, Mr. Leo Ogor ;Deputy Minority Leader, Chukwuka Onyeama; Minority Whip, Yakubu Barde; and Deputy Minority Whip, Binta Bello-Maigeri.
Jibrin, whom the principal officers said was sacked for “abusing” the 2016 budget, had earlier on July 21, accused Dogara, Lasun, Ado-Doguwa, and Ogor of padding the budget by over N40bn.
But, Ogor, who conveyed the feeling of the leaders to Punch, said the rate Jibrin “churns out baseless figures” suggested that his “head should be examined urgently.”
Ogor spoke more, “His case is fast getting out of hands. Honestly, he needs help to stop peddling lies and to deliberately rubbish the names of his colleagues and the institution of the National Assembly.
“I have seen that this man has an issue with his head and he should see a psychiatrist. Tests should be conducted on him. I don’t know what he stands to gain by peddling lies against his colleagues.”
Details of Jibrin’s revelations:
Dogara, an APC member from Bauchi State, who came to the House in 2007, has received N1.5bn.
Jibrin alleged that Lasun, the APC lawmaker from Osun State had collected “about” N800m since he came to the National Assembly in 2011.
Similarly, he accused Gbajabiamila, who came to the House in 2003, of pocketing N1.2bn.
He gave the figures of the other principal officers thus, “Deputy House Leader, Buba, has been in the House from 2007 to date. He received about N1.2bn. Whip, Alhassan Doguwa, has been in the House from 2003 to date. He has received about N1.2bn. Deputy Whip, Pally Iriase, has been in the House from 2011 to date. He has received N700m. Minority, Leader Leo Ogor, has been in the House from 2007 to date. He has received N1.2bn. Deputy Minority Leader, Barde, has been in the House from 2011 to date. He has received N700m. Minority Whip, Chuma, has been in the House from 2007 to date. He had received N800m. And finally, Deputy Minority Whip, Binta has been in the House from 2011 to date. She has received N700m.”
By his own account, Jibrin concluded that, “In between these 10 principal officers, the country has pumped about N10bn and still counting.”

REVEALED | Ex-Head of State, Senate President and Others Named in $1.09bn Oil Deal
Some prominent Nigerians have been named as beneficiaries of the $1.092b Malabu oil deal...
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is investigating the scandal. A businessman, who is being grilled by EFCC over the deal, is said to have named a former Head of State, a former Senate President, a former National Security Adviser (NSA), some senators, some serving and ex-House of Representatives members.
EFCC is not taking chances again, all the suspects will be invited for interrogation by the anti-graft agency to determine their level of complicity.
The Nation learnt that besides the businessman, the EFCC has grilled a former Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance and some chief executives of international oil companies (IOCs).
The suspects remain unnamed because of what a source described as the “sensitivity” of the matter.
The businessman may serve as a key witness because of his “deep insights”, the source said.
“The list is outside the six former ministers who the EFCC was closing in on as at press time. We are looking into the accounts of some of those named in line with the timelines of the bribery,” another source said, adding: “Preliminary investigation has shown that the nation was shortchanged in the controversial $1.092bbillion Malabu Oil Block deal (OPL 245)."
The EFCC is seeking the whereabouts of $1,092,040billion paid by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Nigeria Limited (SNEPCO) and Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited (NAE) into an escrow account.
By the terms of Block 245 Resolution Agreement, Shell agreed to release the outstanding Signature Bonus and to appoint an escrow agent for paying the Federal Government $1,092,040billion.
It was learnt that NAE contributed $982,040,000 to the settlement. SNEPCO $110,000,000 to make up the required $1,092,040billion for the Federal Government to settle all claims over OPL 245 in accordance with the agreement.
There were fears that the $1,092,040billion in an escrow Account was “used for the settlement of the FGN-Malabu Oil Limited agreement on OPL 245.”
The EFCC is trying to find out whether or not the cash was paid to the government or if the appointed escrow agent managed the $1,092,040billion and shared the cash.

43-year-old teacher sets wife, son, daughter ablaze over property
A 43-year-old teacher, Gbemisola Edward, and her 11-year-old daughter, Dolapo, have been confirmed dead at an Ogun State hospital after suffering from severe burns.
The woman’s husband, Joshua, was said to have poured petrol on her, their daughter, and his seven-year-old son, Samson, and set fire on them.
PUNCH Metro learnt the incident happened on Thursday on Augustine Street, Ire Akari Estate, in the Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, after a disagreement between the couple.
Gbemisola’s son, Joshua Babatunde, 16, who escaped by a whisker, said his stepfather had wanted his mother to sell their three-bedroomed apartment, but she refused.
He said, “It was the scream of my mother that woke me up. Dolapo and Samson were also set ablaze. I wanted to put out the fire when my stepfather poured petrol on me as well. Before he returned with matches, I managed to escape and reported at the Ifo Police Station.
“He was working with a factory but was sacked some months ago. He then told my mother to sell the house so that he could use the money to start a business. But my mother said she would never sell the house she struggled to build.
“We moved into the house in January. The following month, he and Samson started living with us. It was a woman at our former residence in Iyana Ipaja (Lagos State) that bore Samson for him. He used to beat mum while we were in Iyana Ipaja.”
PUNCH Metro gathered that Joshua fled immediately the incident happened, while the victims were admitted to Aron Hospital, a private facility in the area.
Dolapo was said to have died a few minutes after she got to the hospital while the mother died on Friday.
Samson, who has burns in the head, hands and legs, is still responding to treatment.
Gbemisola’s brother, Wale, said she had always been abused by the husband, adding that constant beatings forced her to relocate from Iyana Ipaja to Ifo.
He said, “Their relationship had been fraught with quarrels since when he was living with my sister in our house at Iyana Ipaja. There was a time he threatened to kill her with a machete. He stole her money and fled.
“When he knew my sister had built a house, he went there to reconcile with her. She insisted that they needed to go to the registry which they did in February. I visited my sister two weeks ago. She said her husband had been threatening her again and that she had told him to leave by the end of August.
“It was on Thursday afternoon that I got a call that he set her and the children ablaze.”
The Managing Director, Aron Hospital, Dr. Kayode Ayoola, said, “The burns were serious. The girl died about 10 minutes after she was admitted, while her mother died the following day. The boy’s condition is relatively okay but nobody is ready to take care of him.”
The Ogun State Police Command’s acting spokesperson, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the command had launched a manhunt for the killer husband.
He said, “We learnt the man and his wife had a quarrel over the ownership of the house they lived in. While the family was asleep, the man poured patrol on the living room and set it ablaze. As a result, the woman and the two children suffered first degree burns. The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the suspect be fished out. He can only run, he cannot hide.”
Check Out How This Airport worker died after sex with girlfriend
A clearing agent, Mr. Sikiru Olanrewaju, has lost his life after leaving his wife and children at home to have fun with his girlfriend in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that 37-year-old Olanrewaju died shortly after having rounds of sex with his lover on Surulere Street.
The lover was said to have raised the alarm which drew the attention of residents, including the landlady, who reported at the Oke-Odo Police Division.
The victim’s corpse was deposited in a morgue pending the conclusion of investigations.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the deceased worked with an aviation company at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.
He said, “The man was married, but he had a girlfriend who lived in Abule Egba. On August 23, he had finished from work when he called her on the telephone that he would be sleeping at her place.
“The girlfriend said she told him not to come because he was married, but he insisted on passing the night at her house.
“The lady said when he got to her place, they ate the same food and drank the same water. They had sex, after which they slept.
“She said around 5am, she woke up to go to work and discovered he was stiff. She said she tried hard to wake him up, but he didn’t respond. She said she was too confused to know what to do and waited for about three hours before raising the alarm, which drew the attention of people, including the landlady.”
The resident said the landlady reported at the station, and was followed by some operatives to the apartment where the incident happened.
PUNCH Metro was told that there was no mark of violence on the victim.
A source said Olanrewaju’s family were immediately contacted and the police broke the news to them.
She said, “The family said they don’t want the police to investigate anything. They said they had received the news in good faith and that the corpse should be released for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. I am not sure his wife has been informed because she did not follow them to the station. But obviously, she will not receive the news well.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were ongoing.
She said, “The man was allegedly found dead in a room in the Abule Egba area after spending the night with his girlfriend. A team of police detectives from the Oke-Odo Police Division visited, examined, and photographed the scene. We discovered that there was no trace of violence on the body. The corpse has been deposited in a morgue.”
Doctors at Turkish Hospital in Abuja reveal what actually killed Senator Stella Odua's Son
It has been confirmed from medical professionals at the Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja that Stella Oduah’s son, Maxwell Omabuwa Chinedu Etoromi, died after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
According to doctors who spoke with SaharaReporters, anonymously Mr. Etoromi was admitted into their care from another hospital-Zankli Medical Centre-, but died almost promptly. “He was brought to us with the request that we admit him, and we said, why not?” one of the doctors told our correspondent. He added: “Despite our best efforts he died in our care just 30 minutes after we admitted him. We could not do anything to revive him because he arrived in a coma. We tried cardiac life support, but it was too late by the time he arrived.”
Another doctor who spoke to SaharaReporters said Mr. Etoromi arrived at their health facility with a “subarachnoid hemorrhage” on Thursday evening around 6PM and was already in the worst stage of coma possible, he died some 30 minutes later. Subarachnoid hemorrhaging can have several causes, including a traumatic head injury, a bleeding disorder, or the incorrect use of blood thinning medication.
The medical doctors who spoke with a correspondent of SaharaReporters said they were in no position to immediately declare the cause of Mr. Etoromi’s death, but said they just issued a death certificate in which they reported that that he had significant hemorrhaging.
A source close to Ms. Oduah, a former Minister of Aviation and current senator representing Anambra State, told SaharaReporters that Mr. Etoromi had been given the wrong kind of medication after he had his tooth pulled at another hospital creating complications that ultimately led to his death.
