An EFCC witness, Mr. Mustapha Gadanya, on Wednesday disclosed to an FCT High Court how the then Director of Nigeria Police Pensions, Esai Dangabar, moved N24billion into different accounts.

Gadanya was among the team that investigated the matter.

Dangabar, Atiku Kigo, Ahmed Wada, Veronica Onyegbula, Sani Zira, Uzoma Attang and Christian Madubuke, are standing trial for complicity in the over N24bn scam in the police pension office.

Gadanya, in his testimony, told the court how Dangabar deposited cash in different bank accounts.

Led in evidence by the EFCC counsel, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), the witness said that the bank analysis revealed that Dangarbar fixed some amount in the bank to yield turnover.

He said that about N320m was deposited in Skye Bank between May 2008 and July 2009 for his companies, Marine Logistics and leisure Integrated Ltd.

Gadanya told the court that the turnover which accrued to him amounted to N249.8m and N241m, respectively which was later sent to the Federal Government after it was discovered.

NAN reports that he informed the court that between February 2009 and June 2010, the manager of Syke Bank, Jabi branch, helped the first defendant to launder about N840m.

Gadanya said the first defendant was also discovered to be the Managing Director and the sole signatory to the account of Damule Nigeria Limited, the company where his son was listed as director.

The witness told the court that Dangarbar’s 16 duplexes at Wuyi District and six flats at Efab, in Abuja, had been forfeited temporarily to the Federal Government.

Justice Husseni Baba-Yusuf, adjourned the trial till Thursday (today) for continuation of hearing.

Tito Da Fire Explains Why His Marriage Lasted Only A Year & A Month

After the hush-hush wedding embarked upon by Tito Da.fire with his then heartthrob, Ify on November 2, 2013, little did he know that the marriage would only have a short life span, it lasted just a little over a year.

As you are reading this, the subtly publicized marriage of the On-Air-Personality who manages brands under G2M Creatives has crumbled irreconcilably and the wife has relocated abroad with the only child of the union, Ebuka. In an exclusive telephone conversation with MIKE ALONGE, the multi-talented CEO of Grinding Records, Tito Da.fire took him through the journey of the recent development concerning his career and marriage.

According to him, marriage which ought to have a happy –ever after tale was filled with loads of issues. The now estranged couple obviously never understudied themselves before saying ‘I Do’.

Hear him; “Initially I thought she was disposed to entertainment, however overtime I realized she was not, it is one of the major lessons I learnt from my failed marriage. For example I remember that I  would record songs at home and she would not make a comment, till I told her hey, I'm going to stop doing this because it seems you don't like me doing this...And she said oh no, not that, and after then she would say, that song you were working on, the one that has Haruna Ishola's voice ( because I was working on a remake of his classics), it’s nice, but I packed it all up and won't talk about it after then because I felt she wasn't cool with me singing. Sadly, we separated about a year and a month after our marriage.”

He also said about his son, "I miss my son a great deal and would love to play the role of an active –on-hand father to my son Ebuka, watch him play and grow."

Meanwhile, after the collapse of his marriage, Tito Da.fire is back in the studio.

Ditch the bras, ladies! Today is #No Bra Day

Oct. 13 is No Bra Day, an annual “holiday” that encourages women to set the “girls” free in “support” of October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

While the occasion may be liberating (and so much more comfortable) for some women, the event is not just about ditching the bras.

On the contrary,  No Bra Day helps raise awareness about a very important cause – breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in many women. Despite the many advances in cancer treatment and great progress over the years, the cause of breast cancer is still unknown.

According to the National Cancer Institute, it is estimated that more than 230,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year and 40,000 will die.

But many do survive breast cancer. In fact, 89 percent survived five or more years after being diagnosed between 2004 and 2010.

Finding cancer early by regular self-exams and mammograms can save your life. Know the known risks and talk to your doctor about scheduling a mammogram.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month helps raise awareness and supports breast cancer research, but also honors those who have lost the fight.

Whether or not you plan to participate in No Bra Day by going braless today, Oct. 13, the fight against cancer continues.

Please spread the word, walk into any health care facility for a comprehensive break examination plus encourage all the women you know not to wear a bra today. #teamfightcancer

Patience Jonathan Will Never Go Scot-Free – EFCC

Image result for efcc and patience jonathan

A group, the Human Rights Defenders and Advocacy Centre, HRDAC, has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to change its name and slogan from ‘Nobody is above the law’, since its could not probe and prosecute Patience Jonathan the wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

This came as the EFCC said that ‘Patience Jonathan will never go scot-free if she is found wanting or any other person no matter how highly placed he or she is.’

The group in a statement, on Wednesday, title, ‘Demand for arrest, prosecution of Patience Jonathan, probe of APC campaign fund and no more sacred cow in the anti-corruption crusade’ signed by Queen Ameh, and Innocent Agbo during a protest at the EFCC office in Ikoyi, Lagos said the EFCC was selective in its anti-graft war, as its also questioned why Patience Jonathan was still walking freely in spite of the evidence the EFCC said its has against her.

”You have found evidence incriminating Patience Jonathan but we are surprised that Patience Jonathan is still allowed to be walking freely, and even had the audacity to take the EFCC to court to demand the release of her money to her.”

The group also said the EFCC should change its slogan from ‘Nobody is above the law’, since it had found it difficult not to only go after Patience, but the likes of ex-Presidents, including Ibrahim Babangida, Abdusalam Abubakar, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

Agbo during the protest lamented that “I have been to this same EFCC to bail several people over the issue of N500,000 passing through their accounts innocently. They were invited, they came voluntarily and you people held them. But we have somebody with our money, $15m which is N6bn, walking freely. On Ibrahim Babangida, Abdusalam Abubakar, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

Agbo said ‘we have the issue of Badamasi Babangida; it is open knowledge that N12bn gulf money was missing under his regime, nothing is done; we are aware of Obasanjo and the $16bn power funds, you people are not investigating it; we are aware of the petition against Amaechi to the EFCC; we are aware that the APC did not get the funds for its election campaign from only Buhari’s account.

We are aware that you are probing the Peoples Democratic Party, why are you not probing the APC?” he questioned The EFCC Deputy Director of Operations, Mr. Iliyasu Kwarbai, speaking with the protesters vowed that if its investigation uncovers evidence of corruption against the wife of former president Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, she would not be left off the hook and that ‘Nobody is above the law’,

“Let me tell you, there is no sacred cow; anybody who is found wanting, who involves himself or herself in corrupt practices will not be spared. I have received your petition, it is here and what do we do? We go into investigation immediately. Now we have seen the name of Patience Jonathan; it is here. If she is found wanting, she will never go scot-free. So also any other person no matter how highly placed he is.

“We must sanitise our country and provide a very good environment that people can come and invest in; an economy that is devoid of any economic and financial crime. So, we are happy to see you here; we have received it and we are going to go into action. I am going to inform my chairman that you were here and that we’ll commence investigation immediately.”

We Were Well Fed -Victims Of Epe Kidnap

There was wild jubilation at the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, in Eredo Local Council Development Area of Epe, yesterday, following the release of its Principal, his Vice and four students, five days after they were kidnapped by gunmen.

The routine assembly session was at first rowdy as students, who could not hide their joy, discussed how their colleagues were released.

The released captives, among who was a female student, told family members that they were not maltreated while in the kidnappers’ den. The four students stated that they were well fed. One of the parents, Mr. Oluwafemi Adebisi, said:

“My son, Isaac, told me that they were not molested by the kidnappers. He said that their only fear was over the health challenges and crossfire with the police.

He said: “We are not living in Epe, but my wife and I relocated to Epe since the incident occurred. I was contacted at 12 mid night that the victims have been released and I immediately rushed to the school, where I saw my son hale and hearty.

“I was not afraid that something might happen to either Isaac or other victims because I have been praying ceaselessly.”

Asked if he paid ransom for the release of his son, he replied, “let’s not talk of ransom because I did not pay any dime. But I don’t know if anyone paid. My joy is that my son and others returned alive.

“My appreciation goes to God Almighty, the Lagos State Government and the police for the roles they played while the victims were in captivity.”

Another parent, who spoke to Vanguard on phone on condition of anonymity, said: “We are happy that our son is back. In fact, it had been five days of sleepless nights and endless prayers. Every day, we looked forward to their return only to end the day in hopelessness.

“We were assured that they would be released yesterday (Tuesday). One of my brothers-in-law went to a designated point where they told him to wait. He met a relative of another captive, who he thought was one of the kidnappers.

“The instruction from the kidnappers was that he should not talk with anyone when he gets to the point.

“My brother in-law spent four hours waiting, before he got a call to walk towards the school, where he met the released persons walking towards him. From there, they all went to the school from where other parents and relatives came to pick their released members.”

Another parent, who gave her name as Sunbo, said: “My son said they were never maltreated. He said they were fed very well.

“He looks like one who went on holiday. His return has brought an end to the endless wait.” A victim narrates experience Vanguard gathered that the released persons were kept in a camp inside a creek suspected to be in Ogun State. One of the released person revealed that the journey from the school to the hideout took almost four hours. On how they were released, one of them said:

“They kept telling us that the delay on our release was caused by our families, until Tuesday. They did not mention names but they addressed themselves as Commander, General and Colonel.

“About three armed men were always with us while others were stationed in different areas.

“On Tuesday night, one of them received a call after which he told us to get ready. He did not tell us where we were going to. We entered two speed boats with our eyes blindfolded.

“We embarked on the journey and were later dropped off. They told us to walk straight down, that we would meet our relatives.”

The victims, most of who live in Epe town, were taken to the Epe General Hospital for general check-up.

A nurse, who did not want her name mentioned in print, stated that they (released persons) were brought to the hospital with some members of staff of the school and security operatives.

My sister didn’t know there was a jerrycan on the floor and tripped over it | Twins burnt to death in Ogun petrol fire

Samson Folarin
Tragedy struck in Gaun community, in the Magboro area of Ogun State, after two children, Taiye and Kehinde Oluwasegun, were burnt to death in an inferno that gutted their parents’ bungalow on Tuesday.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident happened around 8pm while the family was preparing to have dinner.
The first born of the family, Iyanu, had tripped over a jerrycan of fuel, which also spilled some of its content in the parlour.
While the mother mopped the spillage, the fuel was said to have flowed to a lantern in the house, which triggered an explosion.
Residents, who were alerted by calls for help, reportedly rescued Iyanu; the second child, Korede; and their parents.
However, the twin children, aged three, were burnt to death.
When PUNCH visited the area on Wednesday, it was observed that everything in the house was burnt as smoke still billowed from burnt property in the three-bedroomed bungalow.
Korede, six, who sustained burns in the leg, told PUNCH Metro that his father, Aina, was about taking their generator outside when his sister fell.
He said, “My daddy has two generators. We use the big one to pump water, while the small one is for the house.
“My daddy had put the small one in the room to pour petrol into it before taking it to the cage that was outside. My mummy was preparing food in the kitchen that time.
“My sister, who didn’t know there was a jerrycan on the floor, tripped over it. My mum then took the mop to clean spilled petrol. She was doing that when the fire started. There were six of us in the house: my dad and mum, my sister, the twins and me.”
PUNCH observed that there was no motorable road in the community and the area was connected to the rest of Magboro by a stretch of rickety bamboo bridge.
A motorcyclist in the area, who did not identify himself, said the survivors were helped by residents to cross the bridge.
He said, “It was a difficult task getting the survivors to the hospital. We had to carry them on our backs with their burns.
“The woman kept asking for her twins, while the husband kept lamenting that he lost everything to the fire.”
PUNCH Metro visited Perfect Joy Hospital where three members of the family were taken to for treatment.
Aina, a carpenter, suffered severe burns in his legs, hands, face and chest, while his wife, Abosede, a teacher, suffered burns in both legs.
It was learnt that she had yet to be informed that the twins were dead.
A relative of the victims, Pastor Moses Igbinadolor, said Iyanu was in another hospital, adding that she sustained serious burns.
He lamented the lack of basic amenities in the community, saying it made the rescue difficult.
“We took Iyanu to another hospital and the doctor said she sustained 68 degrees burns. What, however, made the case worse was that we couldn’t get across to the fire service because there is no motorable road. The nearest police station is at Ibafo. This just shows that we don’t have a listening government. No road, no power, no water,” he said.
The case was not reported to the police.
The traditional ruler of Gaun community, Sumonu Seidu, said a delegation from the community had visited the victims in the hospital.
“I am aware the couple lost their twins after a fire incident,” he said.
