MAN SEEKS DIVORCE AFTER HIS WIFE ATTENDED 11 DAYS CHURCH PROGRAM

An Ikole-Ekiti Customary Court in Ekiti State on Monday fixed Feb. 5 to deliver judgment in a divorce suit filed by Folorunsho Onipede over his wife’s absence from home for 11 days.
The President of the court, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, fixed the date for judgment after listening to the evidence of the estranged couple.
Onipede approached the court seeking the dissolution of his marriage contracted nine years ago with his wife, Olaitan, whom he accused of behaving like a witch.
Among the grounds listed for the dissolution of the marriage included Olaitan’s absence from home for 11 days without permission, no respect for members of his family and constant fighting.
In her defence, the estranged wife told the court that she became disrespectful to the petitioner’s family after they accused her of witchcraft.
She also told the court that she left the house for 11 days to attend a special prayer in Church.
She added that “When my husband accused me of bewitching him, I told him I was not responsible for any challenges he might be passing through.
“I also suggested that we attend a Church programme for prayer concerning that, but my husband refused to follow me; rather, he preferred we go the traditional way.“I told him I would only follow him to a Church and not to any herbalist and when it was time, I decided to go for the special Church prayer.
“And when I was going, my husband was not at home for three days, so I had to send his children that I had gone to Church.
“Trouble started immediately I came back from the Church programme, as my husband and his elder brother accused me of leaving home without consent, saying I must pack out of the house.
“Consequently, my husband’s elder brother forcefully sent me and the children packing in November last year.”
The estranged wife also told the court that she was ready to go her way too but prayed for the custody of their three sons.
She also prayed for an order of the court that her husband must continue to be responsible for the maintenance of the children and payment of their school fees.

Mechanic Man Busted For Stealing Police Vehicle

A mechanic, identified as Joshua Simeon, has confessed to stealing a Toyota Carina 2, with registration number AP 270 ZAR belonging to a police officer, to enable him to pay his children’s school fees.
The suspect, who was arrested by a police team from Maitumbi Division in Minna, explained that he wanted to sell the car at a give-away price to enable him to settle the school fees of his four children in primary and secondary schools.
It was learnt that the owner of the car, Surajo Garba, was asleep when the suspect made away with his car.
Northern City News gathered that Simeon had been involved in theft of vehicles for some time until he was apprehended.
Our correspondent also gathered that the suspect, who got married 15 years ago, had a master key with which he opened car doors and stole them.
“I don’t know what I am going to tell my wife and my children, I am ruined, my marriage is in trouble. I hope they will find a place in their hearts to forgive me,” he said.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, narrated to our correspondent on Sunday that the suspect was arrested behind Maitumbi Primary School, Minna along Flamingo Bridge.
Abubakar said the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigation.
Meanwhile, the Niger police also arrested two suspected motorcycle thieves — Sani Magaji, 17, of Suleja in the Suleja Local Government Area and one Illiyasu Ibrahim 35, of the Bwari Area Council, Abuja.
Abubakar told Northern City News on Sunday, that the suspects allegedly stole a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number, QB 006 AJK, belonging to one Ibrahim Ahmadu.
He described the two suspects as ‘comrades in crime’, saying they would be charged to court after investigation.
Abubakar said the police were working round the clock to ensure that residents’ lives and property were protected “so that the people will go about their normal business without fear.”

“I’m calling on the Federal Government to be firm, when actions are taken against these mindless individuals, these killings will stop." Governor Fayose Send Strong Warning To Fulani Herdsmen

Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has told Serikin Fulani in the state, Muhammed Abashe, that he will be held responsible for any further attack in the state.
The governor, who was furious about the recent killing of a Tiv woman in Orin Ekiti by people suspected to be Fulani herders, said Abashe had failed in providing leadership by not stopping his kinsmen from destroying farms and attacking residents under any slightest provocation.
Fayose said this at separate peace meetings held on Friday and Saturday nights with Fulani herdsmen under the aegis of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, farmers, hunters, security agencies and representatives of the Tiv community in Ado Ekiti.
He said, “If you (Fulani herders) still want to stay among us, you must accept the responsibility to ensure that none of our peoples’ farms is destroyed by herdsmen any longer. None of our people must be killed by your men, either they are strangers or those herdsmen living among us.“If any killing or destruction of farms of our people occurs again in that area, I will ensure that I use the law to fight you, their leader, on it. This is the last warning I am giving you,” he said.
The governor said the activities of the Fulani herders had continued to stain the names of President Muhammadu Buhari and other notable Fulani leaders in the country.
Henceforth, he said Fulani herders must register with N5,000 in their host communities for identity and location.
He said, “This killing is giving Fulani people a bad name. If there are no good people among them, how would General Buhari rise to be President? There are doctors, lawyers, engineers and other notable professionals among you. This is denting their names. The greatest of men are the peace makers.
“Even though President Buhari does not send people to kill, it is spoiling his name. We are to make sure the killing stops.”
The governor said he would not compromise his efforts to shield the state from the menace of the herders.
He added, “I’m calling on the Federal Government to be firm, when actions are taken against these mindless individuals, these killings will stop.
It is because they are taking it like a family affair; this is not in the interest of Nigeria. Ordinary Nigerians can’t carry AK47 or pump action guns.”

Woman Bag 12 Years Imprisonment For Child Trafficking

A housewife identified as Nonye Ukatu, has been sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment yyears a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, for trafficking two girls under 12 years old.
It was learnt that Ukatu was jailed on Friday in a judgment delivered by the presiding judge, Justice Kudy Jose.
It was gathered that the woman was arrested by operatives of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons in 2015, following a tip-off from some neighbours who were concerned about the sufferings of the girls.
She was subsequently arraigned in court on December 21, 2015, on six counts of harbouring two girls and using them for forced labour, domestic work and treating them as slaves.
The NAPTIP, in a release on Sunday by its Head, Press and Public Relations, Josiah Emerole, said the offences were contrary to Sections 22a, 23 (1a) and 25 (a) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
Emerole said the trial commenced in July 2016, while judgment was delivered on Friday at the court.
He said, “In the case with charge number, 1D/2227C/2015, Ukatu, who earlier came out without bail, was re-arrested and slammed with six counts of harbouring two girls that are under 12 years old and using them for forced labour, domestic work and treating them as slaves.
“These are contrary to sections 22 (a), 23 (1a) and 25 (a) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015. The charge is dated December 21, 2015.
“When the defendant was arraigned in early 2016, she pleaded not guilty to all the counts. Trial however commenced on July 4, 2016. Delivering his judgment last week, Justice Jose convicted Ukatu on all the charges and sentenced her to 13 years’ imprisonment. On counts 1 and 2, she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment; counts 3 and 4, one year’s imprisonment; and counts 5 and 6, seven years’ imprisonment. The sentences are to run concurrently.
“The Director-General of NAPTIP, Julie Okah-Donli, called for more accelerated handling of human trafficking cases by courts to ensure that victims of human trafficking get justice promptly against the traffickers and their accomplices.”

Suspected Herdsmen Attack Chief Olu Falae Farm

Suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked the farm of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae.
The farm is located at Ilado Village in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
It was gathered that the hoodlums did not steal anything on the farm but burnt down five hectares of the farm which, according to a source, was the oil palm plantation.
Falae was kidnapped in September 2015 by the herdsmen but was released three days later following the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari who ordered the then Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomom Arase (rtd) to secure his release.
Falae’s Personal Assistant, Captain Moshood Raji, (rtd) confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
He said the extent of the damage could not be ascertained at the time of his conversation with our correspondent.
Raji said, “At about 6pm, I got a message from one of the police officers attached to the farm that the farm has been burnt down by some hoodlum
“There was no worker on the farm when the incident occurred because it was a Sunday.
“We are on our way to the farm now to know the extent of the damage.
“We have informed the Commissioner of Police. About five hectares of the land were affected.
“The oil palm plantation was affected as well as some parts of the yam and cassava plantations.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph, said he was not aware of the incident.
“I am not aware of it as at now. The matter has not got to my table as I’m talking to you,” Joseph said.
In his reaction, Chief Falae said the herdsmen were deliberately attacking his farm for no reason, describing the act as malicious and wicked.
He said this was the third time they would be attacking his farm, saying they also did it in January 2017.
He said, “I don’t know why the herdsmen were attacking my farm; they did it last year, they did the same year before the last.
“That is how they burn it every year so that fresh grass can come out for their cattle to eat.
“They attack my oil palm cultivation; the mature oil palm trees that have been bearing fruits to make palm oil have been burnt down.
“This is a wicked act and malicious damage. This goes beyond what their cattle want to eat.
“Cattle don’t eat oil palm. This is a malicious attack.”

Japanese Diners Call Police After They Are Charged £1,145 For 3 Steaks & Fried Fish In Venice

A group of Japanese diners went to the police after claiming they were charged £1,009 for a basic meal at a restaurant in Venice.

The outraged visitors, students from the University of Bologna, said they ordered three steaks and fried fish at the Osteria da Luca near St Mark's Square.

With only glasses of water to accompany their modest meal, the group was left shocked by their €1,145 bill on Friday.

Marco Gasparinetti, the head of the April 25 civil rights group, said the students made a formal complaint soon after their visit to the restaurant.

The case, which Gasparinetti said was simply 'yet another' in a series of tourist rip-offs is so egregious that it has prompted a response from the city's mayor.

Luigi Brugnaro wrote on Twitter that he will attempt to verify the incident.

He added: 'If this shameful episode is confirmed, we will do all we can to punish those responsible. We are for justice, always!'

The owner of the restaurant, however, said simply: 'I do not remember having problems with Japanese customers these days.'

Four people have been confirmed dead in recent attacks between Fulani and Bachama communities in Adamawa State, properties were also destroyed in the violence in Numan Local Government Area.
Reports from the area revealed that suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded the village (Kikon) in the early hours of Sunday shooting sporadically while most villagers were asleep.
“The situation threw everybody into pandemonium forcing all to run into the bushes for safety,” said a fleeing local, Ngurigon Yohanna.
But irked by the development, the Bachama militia mobilised Sunday afternoon and launched counter-attacks on Dowayan-waja and Lure villages burning everything in sight. The number of deaths from this could not be independently ascertained.
Also, confirming the attacks to the media, chairman of Numan Local Government, Arnold Jibila, said the number of deaths could not be ascertained yet.
Another source, who pleaded anonymity for safety reasons, said that many of the villagers have taken refuge in the nearby bushes
He explained that the herdsmen stormed the village on more than 20 motorcycles to launch the surprise attack.
The source added that,at least three persons have been confirmed dead while a number of the wounded have been evacuated to the Numan General Hospital.
He gave an insight into the latest attack.
“After the first reprisal attack on the Bachama people where eight villages were razed down while over sixty villagers were killed, they (Bachama) attacked some Fulanis in Kikon. This is the reason behind this very attack,” he said.
Speaking on the seperate attacks in Numan, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Othman Abubakar, said police area commander in charge of the area has confirmed that two males and two females were killed.
Mr. Abubakar also said villagers injured in the attacks were taken to Numan General Hospital for treatment. He said many houses and property were destroyed in Kikon and Dowaya -waja villages.
He said two units of anti-riot mobile police officers have since been redeployed to ensure normalcy in the area. He pledged that the assailants would be apprehended.

Buhari Is Ready For 2019 Election- Femi Adesina

Presidential Spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, says President Muhammadu Buhari is presently in a better state of health than in 2015, to seek re-election in the 2019 general elections.

Adesina said this while speaking with State House correspondents in Abuja yesterday.

He said though the president was yet to decide on whether to re-contest or not, his health would never be an issue as he had been improving tremendously since his return from medical vacation.

The presidential aide said: “yes, health is wealth. The president is not a frivolous person. If he thinks that his health cannot carry anything, he will not do it.

“So, of course, his health will matter a lot. It will be very important but we need to give glory to God for the way he is now.

“Every day you see the president, you see a glow about him, you see freshness about him. I think he’s even in a better state than when he came in 2015. It’s all to the glory of God.

“So, once he assesses that his health can carry it, there’s nothing wrong if he steps into the fray. But he has the final decision.’’

Herdsman Kill Local Farmer In Plateau

Suspected herdsmen have killed a  local hunter identified as Daniel Wallam in Maijankhai village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
The deceased was said to have been gunned down by suspected Fulani herdsmen who had invaded some farmlands with their cattle.
Several calls to the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, Matthias Tyopev, for response were not replied.
But when contacted, the spokesperson of OPSH, Major Umar Adams, said he would make enquiries and “get back.”
But as at the time of filing this report, he had yet to “get back” to our correspondent as promised.
The attack came barely two days after allegation by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Plateau State chapter, that their cows had been stolen.
But while the Special Military Taskforce, codenamed Operation Safe Haven, had faulted the figure and insisted that there was no tension over the alleged stolen cows, the Irigwe Development Association dismissed the claim, saying it was a plan to justify planned attack by the Fulani herdsmen.
Although the details of the incident were sketchy, the chairman, Public Accounts and Petitions in Plateau State House of Assembly representing Barkin Ladi constituency, Peter Gyendeng, confirmed the killing in an interview with The PUNCH on Sunday evening.
Gyendeng said, “The incident happened on Saturday; it was around 11:00pm that we got a phone call about the killing.
“The man was a hunter and was hunting for animals in the bush.
“On his way returning home, he met the herdsmen destroying some farmlands.
“But the hunter did not know that there were other herdsmen close by, watching him.
“The community confirmed that he called to alert them about the destruction of their farmlands by the Fulani herdsmen and that they should come.
“So, as he was making that call, he heard a gunshot and started running.
“The herdsmen followed him and gunned him down.
The OPSH and Divisional Police Officer of Barkin Ladi were there for a visit. I was there too this (Sunday) morning.”

Woman Cries That Love Making with Her Husband Is Hell Due To The Size Of His Manhood

A distressed Nigerian lady, Gift has sought help from the general public on the next line of action to take after experiencing intercourse with her husband.
According to Gift, s*x with her husband is hellish as his manhood is too big and always tears her private part anytime they consummate the marriage which have led them to be living like strangers under the same roof.
Read her story below:
My name is Gift and I just got married three months ago but I am already fed up because my husband’s manhood is so big I suffer tear every time we make love.
I know many women will read this with a pinch of the salt while others, like some of my friends, will say I should be lucky that my husband is so endowed and can satisfy me in bed.
But it is not about s*xual satisfaction here, it is about the pain I go through during s*x.
I grew up in a strict home where our parents monitored us and any discussion of the opposite s*x was seriously frowned at. I did not have a boyfriend until I was in my third year in the university and even at that, I never had s*x till my youth service, at 25, and it was not a pleasant experience.
After the first time, I had s*x not more than five more times before I met Joseph who later became my husband. I met him during a seminar I attended in Port Harcourt and was swept off my feet at first glance.
Since he was based in Abuja, we managed to maintain a long distance relationship and only got to see each other whenever he came to Lagos, which was not often.
Our first night together was quite horrible but he reasoned that it was because I had not been exposed. He told me never to worry, as I would get used to it with time.
We managed to cope till we got married and that was when my nightmare started. s*x with my husband has been hellish and I always dread such moments. We have tried lubricants to make me wet but it seems my tight private part is not just made for him.
We are both living like strangers and I dare say it is just a matter of time before the marriage crumbles.
What do I do to make my marriage work?
Gift.
