US Returnee Claim He Bought His Three Pump Action Guns From Lagos Police Command

A middle-aged man, Ailabogie Aikpaojie, arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for unlawful possession of firearms – three pump action single barrelled guns and 250 live cartridges – has said that he bought the arms and ammunition from the state police command.

Speaking to journalists after he and several others were paraded for different offences by the Acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dasuki Galadanchi, on Friday, Aikpaojie, who also had a pistol with 9mm live ammunition on him when he was arrested, said he had done nothing wrong.

“I’m not a criminal, I wonder why I was being paraded,” he exclaimed. Continue...

In a chilling revelation that turned out to be an interesting one, the suspect said he bought the firearms from the Lagos State Police Command sometime in 2002 when he needed protection.

He said when he arrived the country then from the United States, where he has residency permit, he had security challenge, thus, he approached the then Police Commissioner, who helped him to arrange for the guns. He said he also had a function to attend in his village during the period, hence, he had to fortify himself.

He explained, “I had security challenge then, so I approached the police commissioner at that time. I told him I had a function in my village and I needed to be protected. I purchased the guns here in this Lagos State Police Command (Ikeja). I purchased the three pump action guns here.

“That place (pointing at the armoury) was where they sold the guns to me and this (pointing) box of cartridges. That other building (pointing) was where I did the licences for the three guns and I was given. But the licences are now with the Area Commander; they have seized them.

“Each of these (pump action) guns cost me N150,000, but I can’t remember how much I paid for the cartridges. Can anyone prove that I used it to commit crime? I need the guns for security.”

He queried why he should be arrested by the police that sold the guns to him.

He added, “If the police know I’m not supposed to have these pump action guns, why sell them to me? They brought someone who sold them to me right here on this police ground. In fact, I couldn’t take them out after they sold them to me until the licences were ready.”

As if that was not enough, Aikpaojie explained that as a businessman who has trucks that lift petroleum products, there were times his trucks would break down and he would need to send someone to the spot, saying he needed protection given his kind of business.

He said, “At times, the police provided me with policemen that travel with me, but sometimes when I come here (Command) to get approval for policemen, they hand the policemen to me without rifles, so I tell the policemen to use mine; the ones I bought here. I tell them that although it might not be as good as the ones they use, but they can manage them.”

He maintained that he was licenced to carry the guns, thus he had committed no crime.

Speaking about the pistol, he explained that he bought the pistol while he was in the US. When asked how he brought it in without being accosted whether at the seaport or the airport, he said, “I shipped the pistol around 2002. The gun mistakenly found its way to my luggage.”

When pressed further to know which of the ports, he said it was through the Tin Can Island Port in Apapa, Lagos State. “The pistol was not discovered at the port,” he said.

Explaining how he was arrested, he said that the gun had been in the country since 2002 but that it was when his family members saw the pistol somewhere in his house and showed him that he decided to take the gun to the Police Command to do the licence. According to him, he was arrested on the way.

He added, “I came to Nigeria on June 19. I was on my way to the office, driving, and I reversed to buy plantain when I was stopped. During their search, they asked where I got the gun on me and I told them I was taking the gun to the Command for licencing because it mistakenly came with my personal effect to this country. I expected the policeman to tell me how to go about it but instead he locked me up.

“Yes, I have a pistol. Illegal possession? Yes, but with an explanation. Can anyone prove that I use it to commit crime?”

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Police Command, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, dismissed the claim that the suspect bought the guns from the command, saying there was no such thing. He added that the suspect had no licence for the guns.

Earlier, the acting commissioner had said the suspect was arrested on June 22 about 3pm by police operatives, saying he would be charged to court for unlawful possession.

He added, “He could not give a satisfactory account of where he got the Parabellum Baretta Pistol with 9mm live ammunition. Another search in his house led to recovery of three long single-barrelled pump action rifles with 250 cartridges.

Nollywood Actress Adunni Ade Show Love To Twin Brother

Celebrity actress and mother of two, Adunni Ade, in an Instagram update on two weeks ago shared the story – after much reservations – of some twin boys she’d met three years ago who hustled the streets wiping car windows in exchange for money.

An excerpt from her update read: “I stopped allowing them to wipe windows pretty much from the onset and would give what I can. Last week, I playfully informed them it was my birthday. As they both saw me yesterday, they ran to their shed monitoring my car so I don’t drive off, and boom, Taiwo holds a black nylon bag and presented this gift to me.”
Also, on her Instagram page, she shared a picture of her holding up the gift – a Bible –  and Taiwo, one of the twins all smiles. In her update, she says:
“I have told them to stop this hustle and asked what they will like to do. They both said starting up a small business selling items. My dream and wish is to get them off the street. Yes, I should have done this a while ago, but then ago,  it ain’t never too late.”
She did not ask for donations but a week later, she shared on her page how she took the twins to her dad for a second opinion and got more.  Joyfully she announced that the twins have now settled in; Taiwo as a barber and Kehinde as an engineer who works on car batteries.

burial ceremony in Anambra
There was pandamonium at a burial ceremony held in a town in Nnewi South L.G.A, Anambra State, on June 23rd after it was violently interrupted over several unresolved issues, by the deceased’s husband who was popularly known as “Who Know Man“.

It was gathered that “Who Know Man”  married two wives but had issues with the first wife, who she died 3 years ago. However because of the unresolved issue, he refused to bury his first wife and abandoned her in the mortuary.
According to CFRMagazine, the deceased(first wife) was still in the mortuary (after 3 years) when the second wife suddenly died. The man concluded plans to bury the second wife while the other was still in the mortuary. He communicated his decision to the villagers but was strongly opposed by the elders.
They informed him that according to Igbo tradition and custom, he was supposed to bury the first wife who had been in the mortuary since 3 years before dreaming of the latter, but he ignored them all and scheduled the burial ceremony(for the second wife) today, 23rd June 2017.
In what could only be seen in one of the Nollywood movies, the relatives of the first wife led by the elder brother took the man unawares by going to the mortuary, took the deceased(first wife) and stormed the burial ceremony as earlier as 8am to lay their late sister to rest during the lying in state of the second wife.
They(relatives of the first wife) immediately proceeded forcefully to the grave meant to bury the second wife but was strongly opposed by the man and his relations which resulted in a free-for-all fight. One of the coffins was thrown to the floor as you can see in the photos.
When the man saw that the relatives of his first wife would bury her in the grave he already prepared for the latter, he immediately mobilized some people to quickly bury her(second wife) but it was already late as the relatives of the former overpowered them and successfully buried their late sister.
However peace was brokered by the members of the Nigerian Police force led by DPO, SP Lucky, who immediately arrived the scene when the fight was at its peak.

Notorious Land-Grabber To Remain In Prison

A magistrate, Lateef Owolabi, of the Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Oshodi on Friday declared the sureties presented by a suspected land grabbing kingpin, Kamorudeen Lamina (popularly known as Sir K Oluwo), as unverifiable and thus unable to stand for his bail.

The State Government, through the Special Task Force on Land Grabbers set up by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration, had on June 16 arraigned Mr. Lamina and others before the court over alleged forceful dispossession of residents from their legitimate rights to land ownership.

In his ruling after their arraignment, Mr. Owolabi had granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties, he said, must be a land owner in Lagos, while the other must be a civil servant not below grade level 15. The sureties must have three years tax clearance and registration with Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA).

The magistrate had also ordered the defendants to deposit N150,000 each with the court, while they are to be remanded in Badagry Prison pending when they were able to meet their bail conditions.

But Mr. Lamina and the other defendants failed in their many attempts to meet the conditions of his bail, by presenting persons that the court has found to be unverifiable to stand as surety.

Mr. Lamina and his gang were said to have been terrorising the people of Ikorodu area of the state for some time before he was arrested on June 15

Daddy Freeze

Rolex watch freak and CoolFM OAP, Daddy Freeze, has taken to Instagram to support comic rapper Falz, who trended online earlier this week after he told entertainers to stop praising fraudsters and hailing fraud in their song.

According to Daddy Freeze, it is glorification of fraud that birthed people like Evans. Here’s what he wrote;

“I stand with @falzthebahdguy!
Its the glorification of Fraudsters that birthed the likes of Evans, and gave rise to the herds of moronic herbivores seeking his release!
