Toke Makinwa's ex, Seyi Kuye who tied the knot in may to the shock of many has welcomed a baby boy! He welcomed the baby who has now been named Micah with his wife, Oluwayimika Angel Kuye .

Taking to her instagram page, Yinka who wlecomed her bundle of joy three weeks ago, says she only feels like sharing the news now. She wrote;

Boxer Arrested On Suspicion Of Forcible Rape

Boxer Victor Ortiz has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in Southern California, according to police.

The 31-year-old was booked on charges of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and forcible digital penetration, according to a press release issued by the Oxnard Police Department. Ortiz was subsequently booked on $100,000 bail. He has since been released.

Ortiz, who is also known for his appearance competing on "Dancing with the Stars," is the former WBC welterweight champion. He lost the belt in a fight against Floyd Mayweather in September 2011.

In March, a woman contacted authorities to inform them that she was sexually assaulted inside her home, police said. The alleged victim identified the suspect as Ortiz.


The case was later presented to the Ventura County District Attorney's office and a warrant was issued for Ortiz's arrest. He turned himself in to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday.

Ortiz's arrest comes just days before his nationally televised fight against John Molina Jr., presented by Premier Boxing Champions, airing on Sunday. It is unclear if the fight will go on as scheduled.

Domestic violence victim Ronke Shonde died from brain injury – Pathologist

Domestic violence victim Ronke Shonde, who was allegedly murdered by her husband, Lekan, reportedly died from severe brain injury, according to a pathologist with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Dr S.S. Soyele

Dr. Soyele testified on Tuesday at a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, Punch Metro reports.

At the proceedings, the pathologist said it was unlikely that the deceased inflicted the injuries on herself.

Soyele also said Ronke’s autopsy revealed that she had suffered past injuries to her brain.

He said,

“A bruise was found on her left jaw. During an autopsy, it was also discovered that the deceased had black eyes (pupils) a telltale sign of a brain injury.

“We opened up the body and brought out all the organs. We also opened up the skull to bring out the brain. Blood collection was discovered in the skull, just beneath the skin.

“The deceased’s uterus was also brought out and there was no sign of conception. We took samples from the brain in order to determine the cause of death which primarily was respiratory failure caused by trauma to the brain.”

“We took samples from the brain and discovered old haemorrhage (bleeding) in the brain, which suggests past trauma,” he added.

Lekan, 51 allegedly beat his wife to death at their home in the Egbeda-Idimu area of Lagos State on allegations of infidelity.

He surrendered himself to the police after days in hiding, claimed that he only slapped the deceased during a disagreement on the night of the incident.

He accused Ronke of sleeping with one Kayode, the general manager of a publishing company.

The matter was adjourned till October 24 for trial. 

20-year-old wife arrested for poisoning 8-month-old stepdaughter in Niger

The Niger state police command have arrested a 20-year-old housewife, Zulac Kabiru, for allegedly poisoning 8-month-old stepdaughter using insecticide at their home in Danauta village in the Mariga Local Government Area of the state on September 9th.

Zulac and her husband Kabiru Labbo, lived in the same house with her co-wife, Rukaiya. According to Zulac who is the first wife, since her husband married Rukaiya as a second wife, she had not known peace as they were always having fights.

Before my husband married her, I kicked against the move. We have been living in peace but when she came, she divided the family. My husband gave her more attention and since then our family has been in shambles.”

“I warned my husband against marrying another wife, but he didn’t listen. The second wife was in the habit of insulting and assaulting me at all times and one day I decided to poison her eight-month-old daughter to increase her sorrow; so that she will learn how to respect her superiors in the family.

Zulac said she regrets her actions and blamed the devil.

“It was the work of the devil; I didn’t know when I did it, it was a wicked act,” she said.

The police say she would be charged to court soon.

Alhaji Dangote and Mr. Otedola were happy to meet the world’s top governors of football and the football governors were also happy to meet them.“Our objective as a Football Federation is to attain financial autonomy so that the government can channel resources otherwise taken up by football into other critical sectors, and we believe that if we have persons like Dangote and Otedola partnering with Nigerian Football, we will get there faster.“The NFF has invited Alhaji Dangote to a couple of matches previously, including the friendly match with England in London before the FIFA World Cup in Russia, but he was unable to attend. Coca-Cola Is Eyeing a Possible Entry Into the Cannabis Market

                      

(Bloomberg) — Aurora Cannabis Inc. led pot stocks higher after Coca-Cola Co. said it’s eyeing the cannabis drinks market, becoming the latest beverage company to tap into surging demand for marijuana products as traditional sales slow.

Coca-Cola says it’s monitoring the nascent industry and is interested in drinks infused with CBD — the non-psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that treats pain but doesn’t get you high. The Atlanta-based soft drinks maker is in talks with Canadian marijuana producer Aurora Cannabis to develop the beverages, according to a report from BNN Bloomberg Television.

“We are closely watching the growth of non-psychoactive CBD as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages around the world,” Coca-Cola spokesman Kent Landers said in an emailed statement to Bloomberg News. “The space is evolving quickly. No decisions have been made at this time.” Landers declined to comment on Aurora.

Aurora’s shares surged on the news, jumping as much as 23 percent Monday in New York to $8. Other stocks in the cannabis industry got a boost, with Tilray Inc. adding as much as 9.4 percent in response to Coca-Cola’s interest.

Coke’s possible foray into the marijuana sector comes as beverage makers are trying to add cannabis as a trendy ingredient while their traditional businesses slow. Last month, Corona beer brewer Constellation Brands Inc. announced it will spend $3.8 billion to increase its stake in Canopy Growth Corp., the Canadian marijuana producer with a value that exceeds C$13 billion ($10 billion).

Molson Coors Brewing Co. is starting a joint venture with Quebec’s Hexo’s Corp., formerly known as Hydropothecary Corp., to develop cannabis drinks in Canada. Diageo PLC, maker of Guinness beer, is holding discussions with at least three Canadian cannabis producers about a possible deal, BNN Bloomberg reported last month. Heineken NV’s Lagunitas craft-brewing label has launched a brand specializing in non-alcoholic drinks infused with THC, marijuana’s active ingredient.

Coca-Cola has already been diversifying as consumption of soda continues to decline. The company, with its iconic brands ranging from Coke and Sprite to Powerade, announced it will acquire the Costa Coffee chain for $5.1 billion in August, and has expanded into other products including juice, tea and mineral water over the past decade.

Aurora is Canada’s third-largest pot company, with a market value of C$8.7 billion. The Edmonton, Alberta-based company has soared along with other pot stocks in Canada as the country gears up to become the first Group of Seven nation to legalize cannabis on Oct. 17. The BI Canada Cannabis Competitive Peers Index has more than doubled in the past 12 months, though has dropped 24 percent in 2018 on concern that the stocks are overvalued.

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey has reportedly begun dating Raven Lyn Corneil, a Sports Illustrated model nearly half his age.

The 41-year-old tech titan with an estimated net worth of $5.9billion was spotted with 23-year-old Corneil on his arm at the Harper's Bazaar Icons event earlier this month during New York Fashion Week, and insiders have now confirmed their relationship to Page Six.

18 passengers killed in Ekiti road crash

Sad reports just reaching us from Ekiti has it that 18 passengers have been killed in a road crash in the state.

No fewer than 18 people died in an early morning road crash in Awo community in Irepodun/Ifelodun LGA of Ekiti State.

The Toyota Hiace bus, said to have been conveying the passengers from Lagos to Abuja, had had a head-on collision with a trailer on Awo – Igede road on Wednesday morning.

The bodies of the passengers were squeezed in the crushed bus, with witnesses claiming that there were no survivors in the accident.

Nigerians Stage Protest As Ghana Shuts Down Their Businesses

The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS) on Monday protested at the ECOWAS Secretariat in Asokoro, and also at the Ghanaian High Commission Abuja, against alleged discriminative closure of businesses belonging to Nigerians in Ghana.

The protest which started early morning paralyzed activities at the ECOWAS Secretariat and Asokoro area as the protesters marched through the streets.

The protesters, mostly women bear placards with various inscriptions such as ‘We need ECOWAS intervention’, ‘Ghana re-open Nigerians shops now’, ‘ECOWAS, the situation in Ghana is totally unacceptable’, and ‘Ghana wants AFCTA secretariat but clamps on African traders’ among others.


The President of NANTS, Barrister Ken Ukaoha, said that the association is protesting the alleged victimisation of Nigerian businessmen in Ghana.

According to him, the development is so bad that a law was recently passed by the Ghanaian parliament seeking to make the business environment hostile to foreign investors, asking them to have a minimum of $1m capital investment before they can operate businesses in the country.

“Since Ghana is a signatory to the ECOWAS protocol on free movement of goods and services, there is a need for the commission to caution the government of Ghana,” Ukaoha said.

The association gave ECOWAS Commission a one-week ultimatum to intervene and resolve the matter, adding that if nothing was done, the association would deploy all its members to occupy the ECOWAS Secretariat complex and conduct their businesses there.

He said the ECOWAS President, Jean-Claude Brou, had also been petitioned over the development, saying that the development had led to a Nigerian woman trader committing suicide after she was ejected from her shop and her business closed down.

At the Ghanaian High Commission, the Consular Officer, Mr. Eric Duodu, who received the protesters, commended them for their peaceful conducts.

He promised to relate their demands to the Ghanaian government to see how best to resolve the issue.

Wonder bank in Calabar allegedly defrauds customers of N27billion

A wonder bank in Calabar has allegedly defrauded unsuspecting customers to the tune of N27 billion, after the operators bolted with their deposits in Cross River State.

The bank, operating under the name Micheno Multipurpose Cooperative Society, MMCS, reportedly succeeded in defrauding over 13,000 people who trusted them with their money.

The scheme owned and operated by one Michael Eke, had promised depositors of N100,000 an additional N50,000 at the end of 40  days, and those who deposit N150,000 would get N300,000 at the same period, Vanguard reports. A deposit of  N1 million would earn a N500,000 profit at the end of the same period while deposits above N1 million would be calculated in N1 million units.

The scheme berthed in Calabar in June 2018 had been attracting patronage from Cross River state residents. Some of the depositors parted with their life savings and others deposited their gratuities, which run into millions, with the hope of reaping bountifully at the end of 40 days.

However, at the end of the 40 days, some depositors got only a small part of their deposits sent back to them, while over 13,000 others did not get anything and have since not heard from the operators of the bank in the past one month. Their office in Calabar has remained shut since then.

The scheme started as a Swiss marketing company on WhatsApp and in less than one month, the groups grew to about 36 all providing information on the benefits of joining the scheme and attracted a lot of people.

A victim, Edna Nzegu, said:

I have N33 million stocks with the scheme. It may not be much compared to what others have but this has destabilised my life and turned me to mad woman with no bearing and I have lost interest in life and work.

Some of the depositors accused a Calabar-based comedian, MC Mbakara, of conniving with Mr Eke to fleece them of their money by promoting the scheme on his WhatsApp thread and website, which persuaded them to believe that the scheme was genuine and he has since gone into hiding.

Speaking from his hideout,  Mbakara said he was not part of the company even when he was appointed vice president of the scheme by Eke.

He said:

I have been accused of so many things I am not aware of. I am not on the run and not hiding. My phone lines have been open and I am very available.

He added he was only a brand ambassador whose following on and offline was used by Eke to drive an aggressive campaign that brought a lot of depositors to the scheme.

Cross River Police Command spokesperson, Ms Irne Ugbo, said reports had been made by some depositors of the scheme and investigation is ongoing “to unravel what the scheme is about and what actually happened to the depositors’ funds.” 

Nigerian man in Malaysia dies after jumping from building to evade arrest

                

A Nigerian man in Malaysia has lost his life after he jumped from a building while trying to evade arrest from authorities.

According to reports, the deceased who hails from Awkuzu in Anambra State – jumped from a second floor due to lack of papers.

He was rushed to the hospital where he passed away days after, according to an online report.

This is just days after another Nigerian man in Malaysia almost lost his life in similar incident. He was reported to have been pursued by officers before he jumped from a tall building and injured himself in the process.
