Gunmen who struck in Badarawa town in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, left no fewer than 11 villagers dead.
Eyewitnesses claimed the gunmen stormed the village at about 9:30am today shot at the villagers, leaving 11 people dead and 23 others injured. Some victims of the attack were rushed to hospitals in the local government and in Gusau, the capital of the state.
However BBC reported that the attack took place last night at a village hall, where residents gather at night to watch films. The cinema-goers panicked, many escaped with multiple gunshot wounds or broken bones, according to witnesses. Amnesty International has warned about the escalating violence in the area.
