Justice U.N Agomoh of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, has convicted and sentenced to one and half years imprisonment, a former Director General of Delta State's Direct Labour Agency, Mr. Emmanuel Odafe Igbini. The sentence is without an option of fine.

Mr Igbini’s journey to prison began when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arraigned him on a three-count charge in November 2014, for failing to make full disclosure of assets comprising his Naira account with Stanbic IBTC Bank, US Dollar Account and his daughter’s account with same bank.

He pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge and the matter went into full trial. Justice Agumoh found Mr Igbini guilty of the charges and sentenced him to six months imprisonment on each of the three counts without an option of fine.
One of the charge reads "that you Emmanuel Odafe Igbini on or about 13th November, 2013 at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, South-South Zonal Office, No 6A olumeni street, Old GRA Off Forces Avenue, Port Harcourt within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court knowingly failed to make full disclosure of your Assets to wit: your Stanbic IBTC Bank US Dollar Account number 0006441862 in the Asset Declaration Form you filled at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and thereby violated provisions of the Establishment Act 2004 and punishable under section 27 (1) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Establishment Act 2004 and punishable under Section 27 (3) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Establishment Act 2004".

Checkout Bishop arrested for raping and impregnating 17-year-old girl, couldn't recite common Bible verses in court (Photo)

A self-proclaimed Zimbabwean Bishop, who with his brother raped and impregnated a 17-year-old congregant at their church has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.41-year-old Bishop Andrew Mnkandla and his brother Lovemore, 34, a pastor at the church, held the victim hostage at his house and raped her on different occasions. They threatened that if she told anyone, "the demons they had exorcised from her would return with scores of others to haunt her.

The court heard he went to the teen's mother with his wife and tried to bribe her so that she convinces her daughter to change her statement in court. Mnkandla had pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of rape before magistrate Chrispen Mberewere.

The court was shocked when Mnkandla failed to recite four common Bible verses. Mr Mberewere asked Mnkandla to recite Genesis 1 verse 1, Psalms 23 verse 1, John 3 verse 16 and John 14 verse 1.
He drew laughter from the gallery when he said John 3 verse 16 reads:

"Let your hearts not be troubled," but it actually reads: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

'Oh well bishop, it looks like the Bible is giving you a hard time," said Mr Mberewere. "You can't even recite very common verses familiar to many people. Let's just get back to the business that brings you here, that of bedroom issues, because you seem to be better in that department."

The magistrate convicted Mnkandla and sentenced him to 20 years in jail. In her testimony, the teen had said Lovemore raped her at Khami Mountains and Mnkandla raped her at his house.
"We went to the mountains for seven days with my father and Lovemore. My father was called back to work on the fourth day, leaving me with Lovemore. On our way home he dragged me into a nearby bush and raped me. He told me if I told anyone, all the demons would return," she said.

"Mnkandla came to our house and asked me to go to his house where he raped me twice. The first time he wore a condom. On another occassion he held me hostage in his house the whole night. My mother came to look for me at his house while I was in his bedroom but he denied knowledge of my whereabouta. He told me to escape through the back door and wait for him at a football pitch close by. He came to get me later and instructed me to tell my father that I had spent the night at a school gate." she added.

Justice Agomoh of Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has also convicted and sentenced a big girl in oil business, Onaioye Kiipoye, to ten years imprisonment without an option of fine.

Her crime? For dealing in petroleum products without requisite license.

Onaioye was first arraigned on 10 February, 2011 on a two-count amended charge bordering on dealing in petroleum products without license. She pleaded not guilty and the matter went into trial.

The Judge ordered that the Man Diesel Caravan Truck used in conveying the proceeds of crime should be forfeited to the Federal Government.

The big girl's journey to prison started when the Joint Task Force 'Operation Flush Out III' of the Army arrested her on 15 April, 2008 with a Truck that contained about 64 drums of petroleum products suspected to be condensate and handed them over to EFCC for investigation.

Checkout How Housewife brutalizes her 12- year-old niece for stealing meat

A 12-year-old girl, Mmesoma Ani, has been admitted to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Surulere, after she was allegedly tortured by her aunt, Mrs. Ogechi Iruwane.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the mother of three allegedly used her bare hands to pinch off the victim’s chest, and inflicted injuries on her back.
Ani was also said to have been starved for two days for allegedly stealing a piece of meat.
A trader on Nurudeen Street, Orile Iganmu, Lagos State, where the incident happened, raised the alarm on Tuesday.
The case was said to have been reported to the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender.
Officials of the agency reportedly apprehended the suspect and subsequently handed her over to the police at the Orile Iganmu division.
The victim was afterwards taken to LUTH.
The trader, who discovered the incident, said Ani returned an empty bottle of soft drink to her when she saw her injuries.
She said, “I observed that she was not walking well. I drew closer to her and that was when I saw that her hands were also swollen. She said her aunt flogged her. She showed me her chest and I saw that the skin covering one of her maturing breasts had been pinched off. She removed her clothes and I was alarmed when I saw serious injuries on her back.”
The trader, whose name is protected for security reason, explained that she called the attention of passersby to the injuries.
“I wanted to take her back to the aunt to ask why she battered the girl so badly without taking her to a hospital, but her neighbours told me it was not the first time she would beat her. I decided to report the matter to the OPD,” she added.
A source at the OPD said the residents prevented the suspect from escaping when she went to find out why Ani had not returned home from the errand she sent her.
He said, “The girl claimed she was 12 years old, even though she looked younger. She also looked malnourished. There were different scars on her back. The irony is that the suspect has three children and they look well-fed.
“The girl claimed that she is the 11th of 12 children. She said the woman came to take her from her parents in Enugu State in December 2015. She said she was in primary three before she was brought to Lagos, but since her arrival, she had not been going to school. She said the woman accused her of stealing a piece of meat and for about two days, she was not given food to eat.”
The Director of the OPD, Mrs. Salami Olubukola, commended the trader that reported the case, urging residents of the state to always be on the watch for child abuse cases.
“The girl is now in our care. We will not relent in our efforts to stem the tide of child abuse in Lagos State,” she added.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that the matter would soon be charged to court.

66 year old Nigerian nanny accused of force-feeding 8 month old baby till she choked to death

A Maryland, US based Nigerian nanny, Oluremi Oyindasola  has been charged in the death of a baby girl after she was allegedly caught on surveillance camera forcefully feeding her two bottles, police said.

Eight-month-old Enita Salubi of Glenarden died Monday afternoon after she was rushed to a hospital, Prince George's County Police said. Authorities said video camera footage shows the events that led to the little girl's death.

The nanny, 66-year-old Oluremi, was asleep on a couch inside the house Monday when the baby, who was in a walker, began crying and woke the nanny, police said. .

Police said a video surveillance camera shows the nanny tried to feed the baby, but without success. Oyindasola then pulled the baby from her walker, removed the nipple from her bottle and forcefully fed her, police said. .

"She forcefully poured the two bottles of what looks to be milk down the baby's mouth, causing her to not be able to breathe, suffocating her, and eventually she died at the hospital," said Col. Harry Bond of Prince George's County Police.

The baby appeared to squirm and resist while being fed the first bottle, and then Oyindasola forced the contents of a second bottle into her mouth, the documents said.

The baby became unresponsive, and Oyindasola called the baby's father, who dialed 911 as he raced home. Police said an autopsy revealed Salubi's cause of death was asphyxiation, and the manner of death was homicide.

Oyindasola has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, and related charges. More than one neighbor said they'd been concerned about the baby for some time.

"That baby just cried [and] cried," said neighbor Walker. "Every time I came outside, I'd hear that baby cry.

Nigerian Pastor Nwachuckwu & His Cohort Jailed for Arranging Sham Weddings In UK

Eleven persons, including Nigerians were involved in one of the biggest sham marriage uncovered in West Midlands, UK. They were on October 21, 2016, jailed for about 52 years.

A Nigerian pastor and two other men, regarded as the driving forces behind the racket involving at least 45 fake relationships, received the longest sentences.

41-year-old Pastor Donald Nwachuckwu, senior pastor at the Kingdom of Godfire Church in Bilston, was jailed for eight years.

He used his position to identify West Africans in the country illegally who were prepared to pay up to £6,500 for permission to stay on the bogus grounds of being married to, or in a long term relationship with, a person from the European Union living and working in the country.

An astonishing £153,000 worth of credits passed through bank accounts run by the pastor under a false name before he was arrested at his home in Titford Road, Oldbury.

Pastor Nwachukwu and others had joined forces with a Nigerian law student to cash in a valuable asset - a person's right to stay in the UK and claim benefits. The sham marriage gang was busted in 2013, following a tip off about a dodgy wedding between a 26-year-old Nigerian, Edward James, and Czech Julie Ondova, 20, who already had a boyfriend and two children but had accepted £800 to play the role of bride at Stoke Register Office with a further £1,000 due on completion of the nuptials.

The both pleaded guilty at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to facilitating a breach of immigration law.

He was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment and deported on July 29, 2014. She was jailed for 16 months and kicked out of the country on completion of her sentence.

Clemence Marijeni, aged 43, from Weston Road, Bilston was the master forger who created the fake documents to support the spurious applications for European Economic Area (EEA) resident’s cards that allowed the holder to stay in the UK and claim benefits. He was jailed for ten years. The graphics expert created fake histories for the West African and person supposed to be their long term lover – mainly Czech or Slovakian and promised up to £1,800 each to take part in the plot which ran from January 2012 to March last year.
False utility bills, rent books, pay slips and job records backed the bogus claim of a legitimate marriage or lasting relationship. Some included pictures of the pair – who were strangers – side by side in bed, fully clothed or shopping together.

Olatunji George, 44, a law student who had completed a module on immigration law administered the operation. He also got 10 years behind bars. He claimed to be paid up to £1,000-a-time to prepare packages of the correct documents and fill in paperwork for the bogus resident’s card applications.

His home in Taylor Way, Tividale held an ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of information when raided by Immigration Enforcement investigators who, after a tip off, halted the marriage of a 26-year-old Nigerian and a Czech woman, who both lived in Wolverhampton. She revealed that Nwachuckwu had been involved in organising the bogus wedding. Checks on the pastor revealed phone calls between him, George and Marijeni.

Jozef Puzo, aged 28, St Pauls Road, Smethwick, was jailed for five years. He provided the final piece of the jigsaw by earning up to £750-a-time finding women and men from the zech and Slovakian communities prepared to take part in the scam. Both he and George are now on the run after fleeing during their trial but were convicted and sentenced in their absence.

Also convicted of conspiracy to facilitate a breach of immigration law were: Victor Ibeh, 32, Cherene Cotterill,27, and pavel Farbar, 30: Lenka Jocova, 38, Peter Fredrick, 27, Idris Agia, 31 and Aishatu Ibrahim, 25.

However, Aishatu Ibrahi has also gone missing but was given three and a half years while Agia was arrested moments before flying out of the country to Nigeria just days ago

He was jailed for three and a half years. The other five defendants were each jailed for between two and three and a half years. All defendants were found guilty of immigration offences.

Jailing them at Worverhampton Crown Court yesterday, Judge Amjad Nwas said: "These were all willing participants in a well organised system operated for profit."

I Joined Cult To Get A Business Loan – Stylist

The police in FCT Abuja have arrested 12 suspected members of a cult, Norsemen, who have been allegedly terrorising residents of Apo District in the capital city.

Items recovered from the men, who were detained at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, include a locally-fabricated rifle, three cutlasses and a knife.

The suspects confessed that they were members of Norsemen, with each of them giving different reasons for joining the cult.

A suspect, Fidelis Ogabor, said he was compelled to join the group as a precondition for a N200,000 business loan he needed to set up a hair salon.

He stated that he lost his job as a supervisor in a factory and approached one William for assistance, but the latter insisted that he would help him only if he became a member of Norsemen.

He said William gave him the loan after joining the group, but noted that the cult kingpin mobilised some members to beat him up over his inability to settle the outstanding balance of N177,000.

He said, “William lent me the money after I joined Norsemen. I have paid him N23,000, but he kept pestering me for the balance because some of the people working for me told him that I had money and did not want to pay him.

“On October 9, 2016, William sent two guys and I went with them to Wumba community where I met him with some other guys. They beat me with cutlasses and inflicted injuries on my hand, but when they heard gunshots from policemen, they ran away and I was able to escape. I went to a clinic to treat myself, but the police came to my shop and arrested me.”

A laundryman, Kenneth Edmond, said the rifle was found in his house, but denied that it belonged to him. He explained that the weapon was given to him for safekeeping by another cult member, identified as Bullion.

“Bullion came to my house and as we were chatting, his girlfriend called him on the telephone. So, he asked me to keep the gun for him because he was afraid that he may run into policemen. I hid the gun somewhere in the house, but the police searched my house the next morning and discovered the gun,” he said.

Ikechukwu Ugwu, who operated a drinking joint, explained that he was forced to join the cult on account of the members’ constant harassment and extortion.

FCT Police PRO, Anjuguri Manzah, said that since the arrest of the cultists, residents of Apo District now felt safe and secure, adding that detectives were on the trail of William and Bullion.

I don’t mess around with women — Majid Michel

                   Image result for majid michel
Ghanaian actor Majid Michel’s experience on the set of his first epic movie, Ayamma, which was shot recently somewhere in Akwa Ibom State, has left a sweet-sour taste in his mouth.

The actor, in an interview with our correspondent in Lagos, described the experience as very challenging. He said, “Leaving home to a very distant land to shoot a movie in a forest full of insects and darkness was quite challenging for me. We didn’t put on tops while the shooting lasted. Even if we did, it still would not have prevented all kinds of insects — not just mosquitoes — from biting our faces, bare feet and hands.”
The experience also exposed the religious part of the award-winning actor, which many movie fans had never known. Asked if he learnt any lesson from his stint in the ‘forest’, he replied, “I have just realised that the authority of Jesus Christ must be asserted in every culture and tradition. I believe that Jesus came to purge these cultures and to take them away. Also, He came to take away our traditions and to replace them with His kingdom on earth. I believe that the real culture is the way of God.”
Majid’s statement, no doubt, contrasts sharply with his image on the screen as a male sex symbol.  Reminded about this image, his appearance in several amorous movie scenes and asked if he had always kept the Christian part of him aside when going on location, the actor said, “When I am on the set of a movie, I am a completely different Majid. The character that you see on the screen is somebody else who tries to convey the message in a movie to an audience. This person’s goal is to educate the people on the things that are happening to the society in real life. I am Majid Michel, but I play different characters in the movies. So, in a movie, you see a character, not Majid.”
Although it is common knowledge that he is adored by many female movie fans, the Ghanaian told our correspondent that he had never been obsessed with women, as portrayed in most of the movies that he has been featured. Then, admitting that he was often drawn to women for different reasons other than romance, he said, “I like women a lot, but I don’t mess around with them. I am not a womaniser. I am just drawn to a lot of women and it ends there.

Checkout How Ex-Rivers LG Boss Appears In Court that got People Talking

A mild drama played out, yesterday, at the premises of the Rivers State High Court complex, as the embattled former Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, who is facing murder trial, was brought to court on a stretcher.

This came as the judge handling case, Justice Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra, withdrew from the matter.

Iyayi-Lamikanra said, yesterday, when the matter came up, that several petitions had been written against her to the National Judicial Council, NJC, by the accused person.

Iyayi-Lamikanra, who stated that the council had started investigations on the petitions, said she will discontinue with the matter for another judge to take over in the interest of justice.

However, the judge, after dismissing a bail application brought before her, remanded the accused in prison custody and adjourned till November 17.

Meanwhile, during the court proceedings, Amachree was pushed into the court room dressed in a brown gown and lying motionless on a stretcher. An uproar followed.

The accused person, who was earlier charged for the murder of one Smart Soberekon, was re-arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on attempted murder of one Ipalibo.

The accused person, whose condition drew sympathy, could not take plea as he remained speechless throughout the period of the proceedings.

The defence counsel, Emenike Ebete, prayed the court to stop the reading of the charges to the accused as he was unconscious. He pleaded with the court to adjourn the matter to allow Amachree recover and respond to the charges against him.

However, the prosecution counsel, Godwin Obla, objected to the oral application by the defence counsel, and the health condition of the accused.

Obla noted that there was no medical report or any doctor from the prisons authorities that had announced his presence before the court to authenticate the health claim.

The judge, after listening to the submissions, overruled the defence counsel’s oral application, saying the issue of bail was already at the Court of Appeal and that it was verba
