There was jubilation all over Kogi state as the amiable state governor  Governor Yayaha Bello  today ordered the demolition of the fortress in Odu owned by detained  notorious criminal  Zakari Yau.

The Governor's Chief press secretary Petra Akiniti Onyegbule  who was part of the demolition exercise  did a count of the exits in the demolished  building. There are 11 pedestrian gates excluding the main gate.
Recall that demolition of criminal hideouts began in the Central Senatorial District. Beginning specifically from Okene, the LGA of the Governor.

Odu is in Dekina LGA, Kogi East Senatorial District.

Speaking on this development, the Governor's Chief press secretary, Petra Akiniti Onyegbule said that the demolition exercise  is a welcome development and a prayer answered, hence the jubilation by residents of the state.

This is the beginning of the purge in Kogi East. Governor Bello has given uptil April 20th to criminals to willingly drop their arms and renounce crime to be considered for amnesty vowing not to rest on his oars until the state is safe. Governor Bello noted that the state is safer than it was when he took over in January 2016 but assured citizens of the state and Nigerians that he will rid the state of criminals.

"It is New Direction. Kogi must be safe and secure for all" the CPS to Governor Bello concluded.

Zakari Yau, who is said to be greatly feared in the underworld and currently in detention, is believed to be the number one political thug in Kogi State, wanted for many of the politically-motivated killings not only in Kogi State, but in Benue State as well.

The  notorious criminal, who  has nine wives and 15 children  was arrested  at a location in an operation between Okene and Akure by anti-kidnapping technical team, led by CSP Abba Kyari some time last year.
Investigations   showed that the notorious criminal Zakari Yau was  believed to be responsible for the spate of kidnappings and armed attacks witnessed on major highways in North Central states like Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, Benue and along the Lokoja, Okene, Akure, Auchi roads. .
The demolition of the house is backed by the state's Anti Kidnapping, Robbery and Terrorism Law passed by the State House of Assembly and assented to by the Former state governor, Idris Wada.

Ghanaian lab attendant caught selling pregnant women's blood to ritualists

A Ghanaian based laboratory assistant has been arrested after he engaged in the selling of pregnant women's blood to ritualists.
According to PulseNg

'The police in Ghana have arrested a middle-aged laboratory attendant at the Abura Dunkwa District Hospital located in the Central Region for allegedly selling the blood of pregnant women to money ritualists.
Ghana News reports that the suspect,
Stephen Enyan, was arrested after a tip-off that he had been in the business of selling blood to a group of ritualists known as 'Sakawa Boys'.'
According to the reports, many of the pregnant women who visit the hospital for ante-natal checks usually lost their babies or in some cases, their lives due to the activities of Enyan.
The frequency with which the loss of lives occurred led to numerous complaints being lodged to the hospital management which launched a discreet investigation into the matter.

They also involved operatives of the Abura Dunkwa District Police who launched a further probe into the matter, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

During the investigations, all fingers pointed at Enyan and it was revealed that he was the major culprit in the sale of the blood of pregnant women who visited the hospital to the ritualists after one policeman posed as one of his customers.

In a WhatsApp conversation between the undercover officer and Enyan, the policeman agreed to pay GH¢10,000 for the blood of a pregnant woman and offered GH¢250 as part payment.

The lab technician was later arrested when he went to meet the officer to collect his balance. It is believed that the suspect sold the blood for amounts ranging from GH¢5,000 to GH¢10,000.

Airline Staff Allegedly Force 94-Year Old Grandma Out Of Business Seat Into Economy

United Airlines staff forced a frail 94-year-old grandma to leave her £2,800 Business Class seat and sit in discomfort in Economy, her family have claimed.
Paz Orquiza was travelling from Los Angeles back to Melbourne, Australia, after visiting relatives.
Her granddaughter Marianne Santos Aguilar said Mrs Orquiza has a number of disabilities including severe arthritis.
Her relatives had all chipped in to buy her a Business class seat with United in the hope of making the 16-hour journey more comfortable.
But Ms Aguilar claims her grandma was left "in tears" due to her treatment by United staff.
She claimed staff would not allow Mrs Orquiza's daughter Rose, who was also on the flight in Economy class, to help her with tasks such as reclining her seat or opening her food unless she paid for a Business Class ticket as well.
Neither would staff themselves help the fragile passenger, the family claim.
They claim they were left with no choice but to move Mrs Orquiza out of Business and into Economy so her daughter could assist her, despite having paid for extra comfort.

According to Ms Aguilar: "My aunt tried to comfort my grandmother, who was in tears, and was horrified to see how much pain she had to endure during this flight.

"Upon arrival to Australia, my grandma's legs had swollen, she suffered from a stiff neck and her whole body ached.

"She is still in great distress and pain from this ordeal."

The family have filed a complaint with United and say they were eventually offered £400 in travel vouchers and a refund of £690.

But the family remain unhappy..

Son Beats His 65-Year-Old Mum To Death In Jos

A 24-year-old man, Godwin Banchir, appeared before a Jos High Court on Wednesday, charged with killing his 65-year-old mother.  Banchir, according to the prosecutor, Luka Pam, killed his mother for refusing to answer his greetings.
The judge, Justice A. I. Ashom, adjourned the matter to May 30, for hearing, after Pam requested an adjournment to enable him to present a vital witness.

Pam of the Plateau State Ministry of Justice said that the witness, a police personnel, was “unavoidably away on police duties”. The accused person was first arraigned on June 22, 2016, on a one-count of culpable homicide, an allegation he had since denied.

According to Pam, the accused committed the offence on Jan. 27, 2016 at his home in Fuskar Mata Village, Bassa Local Government Area, in Plateau.

Pam told the court that on the said date, the accused used a stick to hit his mother, one Saratu Banchir, which later resulted in her death.

The prosecuting counsel said that the accused had told the police, in a confessional statement, that he killed his mother because he was angry that she did not respond to his greetings.

The statement quoted the accused as saying that when he woke up at 6 a.m on the said date, he saw his mother sitting in the compound, while on his way to his farm, and greeted her, but that she did not answer.

It further quoted the accused as saying that her silence angered Banchir, who used a stick and the handle of his axe, to beat her until she became unconscious.

The prosecution quoted the accused as saying that when he hit his mother on the rib and stomach, she fell down and let out a loud cry which attracted neighbours and family members.

The statement said that Banchir’s uncle, one Godwin, rushed into the compound and took the woman to the hospital for treatment and, on his return, beat up the suspect before handing him over to the police.

“The statement indicated that the accused was in the habit of quarrelling with his mother anytime he was hungry.

“It (statement) also claimed that the woman used to fight her son whenever he fetched water from her room to take his bath,” Pam added.

He further quoted the accused as claiming that he did not know that the beating would result in the death of his mother.

The prosecutor then told the court that the offence contravened section 221 of the Penal Code, Laws of Northern Nigeria, and was punishable with death, upon conviction.

Maid Steals Boss’ $10,000 In Lagos, Exchanges It At N86/Dollar

A young lady is assisting the Lagos Police Command with its investigation after she was arrested for stealing her boss’ $10,000 in Gbagada area of the state.

According to reports, Blessing Paul forced her boss’ room opened with a knife while the woman was at work. She was said to have handed the money to the house guard, identified as Daniel, who also gave it to a security man at another residence in the area.

The security man, identified as Amos, took it to a Bureau de Change operator, who changed the money at N86 per dollar, shortchanging the thieves of over N2m.

However, the BDC operator claimed he received only $5,000 from Amos.

The command’s spokesman, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the maid confessed that her boss, Mrs. Tokunbo, has been very kind to her, adding that she usually bought clothes and gift items for her to take to her family in Benue State.

Cole said that the BDC operator gave the suspects N870,000 as an equivalent for $5,000, adding that the police have recovered N400,000.

“We also found N400,000 in the maid’s bank account but we are following court’s procedure to seize the money. The BDC operator was allegedly given $10,000 but he claimed he only received $5,000.

“Investigation revealed that money and valuables have been missing in the house, but the woman didn’t suspect the maid until the theft of foreign currency last week.”

Former Tottenham star Paulinho faces deportation after posing with Japanese porn star

Brazilian football star Paulinho has been left red-faced and running the risk of deportation after the Brazilian was snapped promoting an illegal betting company with a Japanese porn star in China.

Midfielder Paulinho was sold by Tottenham Hotspur to Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande two years ago after a miserable two-season spell in the Premier League, but has been back in form with a hat-trick for Brazil last month, and is being talked about as a target for German giants Bayern Munich.

Pornography is also illegal in China, so Paulinho’s decision to be snapped with one of the biggest Asian stars in the adult movie industry, Tsukasa Aoi only adds to the embarrassment for the very religious, married Paulinho. The video footage of Paulinho with Aoi was filmed at his home in China.

Professional football leagues ban footballers from betting on any football match in most leagues around the world and FIFA now prohibits all professional players from having any involvement in the industry, so Paulinho’s decision to back Letou is at best ill-advised.

Nelly Furtado and husband, Demacio Castellon split after 8 years of marriage

Image result for nelly furtado husband
Nelly Furtado revealed in a new interview on Wednesday that she’s back on the market.

I am single now,” she said on ITV’s Loose Women about secretly splitting from Demacio Castellon last summer. “Someone here needs to update my Wikipedia. It’s not helping my dating life!
The singer, 38, wed the sound engineer in 2008 in an ultra-private ceremony that they kept hidden from the public until more than a year later.

“I went through an emotionally difficult time last summer and I actually wrote and sung myself songs to get through it,” Furtado, who’s currently promoting her sixth studio album, The Ride, said about the breakup. “I would sing to myself while I drove on these long drives, and I thought to myself, ‘I’m so lucky that I can write songs because I can soothe myself with them.'”
And though she’s still working through her heartbreak, the star says she’s focusing on her 13-year-old daughter, Nevis (with ex Jasper Gahunia).

“Sometimes you just want to sit home and bake some muffins for your daughter. I need to stay mentally and emotionally and physically well for my daughter,” she said.

North Korea Preparing To Detonate Nuclear Bomb As Kim Jong-Un Warns Of 'Big Event'

North Korea is preparing to detonate a nuclear bomb to coincide with its 'Day of the Sun' national day on Saturday amid mounting tensions with President Trump, US officials fear.

The regime ordered foreign journalists to prepare for a 'big event' on Thursday and is thought to have put a nuclear device in a tunnel at its Punggye-ri Nuclear Test Site.

Tensions in the region are running high after President Trump sent a US Navy strike group steaming toward the western Pacific in a show of force and North Korea warned of a nuclear attack at any sign of America agression.

North Korea's most important national day is on Saturday April 15 when North Korea commemorates birth anniversary of its founding president Kim Il Sung.

There were no indications the 'big' event on Thursday was directly linked to tensions in the region over the isolated state's nuclear weapons program.

Around 200 foreign journalists are in Pyongyang as the country marks the 105th anniversary of 'Day of the Sun'.

Officials gave no details as to the nature of the event or where it would take place, and similar announcements in the past have been linked to relatively low-key set pieces.

Sacked NNPC MD, Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue allegedly owns $50m uncovered by EFCC

According to SaharaReporters, the $50 million uncovered in a residential building located at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) belongs to the sacked Managing Director, Operations at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue.

Nnamdi-Ogbue, was sacked alongside other three top Managing Directors at the NNPC over the ‘missing’ petrol scandal involving Capital Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited owned by businessman, Ifeanyi Ubah.

The operation leading to the discovery was followed by a whistle blower's confidential alert received by the anti-graft agency in the early hours of Wednesday.

The breakdown of the money found in the house is  $43.4million, £27,800 and N23.2million.

According to the source, the movers of the bags made believe that they were bringing in bags of clothes. Another source who is conversant with the apartment of interest indicated that a woman usually appears on a different occasion with Ghana-Must-Go bags.
"She comes looking haggard, with dirty clothes but her skin didn't quite match her outward appearance, perhaps a disguise," the source said.
On getting to the building, operatives met the entrance door locked. Guards at the gate explained that nobody resides in the apartment, but some persons come in and out once in a while.

In compliance with the magisterial order contained in the warrant, the EFCC used minimum force to gain entrance into the apartment, the agency said.

Monies were found in two of the four-bedroom apartment. A further search of the wardrobe by operatives in one of the rooms was found to be warehousing three fireproof cabinets disguisedly hidden behind wooden panels of the wardrobe.

Upon assessing the content of the cabinets, neatly arranged were US dollars, British pound sterling, and some naira notes in sealed wrappers.

Preliminary findings indicate that the funds are suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activity. Investigations are ongoing.

The facility is said to be owned by a former PDP Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu.
