A 62-year-old businesswoman, Adewumi Sanusi, allegedly charmed her daughter’s boy friend with concocted substance to drink.

The woman, who resides at Balogun Street, Oshodi, Lagos, appeared in Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday in Lagos, facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and trial by ordeal.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, told the court that Mrs. Sanusi conspired with one Alfa, a cleric currently at large, to commit the offence at about 7:45p.m on November 19 in Oke- Oshodi area.

Sgt. Ajebe said the woman claimed that the boyfriend, Mbanude Ogochukwu, stole her daughter’s laptop from the shop when he came on a visit. The prosecutor added that she consulted an Alfa, who made some incantations inside water and forced Ogochukwu to drink it.

He said “Ogochukwu ran mad immediately after taking the water.”

The prosecutor stated that the accused refused to stabilise and return Ogochukwu to a sane person, hence the report.

The case, according to Sgt. Ajebe, was reported to the police by one of Ogochukwu's nephew, Joel Chiemeka.

The offences of using charms on people contravened sections 127 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The Section 127 prescribes a 10-year jail term for convicted offenders.

The woman pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Chief Magistrate, Alexandre Komolafe, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned to January 18, 2017, for trial.

No Minister In Buhari's Cabinet As Intelligent As Emir Sanusi – Reno Omokri replies Garba Shehu

                       Image result for Reno Omokri

Former President Goodluck Jonathan's Special Adviser, Electronic Media, Reno Omokri, has blasted Garba Shehu for his misguided utterances against the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi after saying the Emir spoke out of ignorance.

Sanusi had asked the Government to jettision the idea the $30billion loan as it will force the country into more debt. But, the Presidency through the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu had said the Emir was saying things he has no facts about.

"With every respect to the Emir, you know he is my ruler because I come from Kano, he does not have his facts as far as those issues are concerned,” Shehu said.

But Omokri fired Garba Shehu for his utterances, saying
he should remember that the position he holds is for a short time and when he gets out of it, he will answer for his unguided utterances.
Image result for Reno Omokri & Sanusi
Reno stated: "The presidency’s response to the Emir of Kano, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is most pedestrian. How can anyone in his right mind call Sanusi Lamido ‘ignorant’! Really? Ignorant!!

Even if Garba Shehu was directed to issue that statement he should also direct his mind to know that there is life after directives!

Even before President Muhammadu Buhari indicated an interest in running for the office of President of Nigeria in 2002, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (as he then was) was one of his first advocate who, as early as 2002, had publicly promoted the idea of a Buhari presidency as the panacea to Nigeria’s many leadership woes.

Was he ‘ignorant’ then?

The same Sanusi was the poster boy of the APC when he made allegations against the Jonathan administration to the effect that it was unable to account for $49 billion. At that time, the APC took out center page advertorials promoting Sanusi and castigating the Jonathan administration.

Was he not ‘ignorant’ then?

I doubt if amongst the ministers and appointees of the Buhari administration there can be found any individual who is as knowledgeable as Emir Sanusi.

Is it Buhari’s minister of finance who graduated from a polytechnic (University of East London was a polytechnic when Kemi Adeosun attended it and that is her highest qualification, BSc economics and a post graduate diploma) or the minister of budget that does not know how much Nigeria owes, or the sports minister that thinks Nigerian athletes are too hungry to go for the World Cup?

Tell me who among Buhari's ministers is as enlightened as the erudite and intellectual Emir Sanusi?
The Buhari administration would do well to listen more than it insults or the economy may collapse even further than it has. Then we will know who is truly ‘ignorant’!"

Our First Steps In Office Created Problems – APC Admits

Senate President Bukola Saraki, finally met with the National Working Committee NWC, of ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday, 18 months after his controversial inauguration.

This was even as the ruling party effectively took responsibility for some of the problems confronting it. Saraki, who arrived at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja at about 2:05pm, was accompanied by the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, his deputy, Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Chief Whip, Prof. Olusola Adeyeye.

The meeting started at about 2:21pm and lasted only seven minutes before journalists were excused. The two sides subsequently went into a closed-door session which lasted for over two hours.

Saraki spoke for less than 30 seconds, but pledged loyalty to the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun led NWC, saying his team was at the party secretariat to “listen” to its leadership.

He told the chairman: “We are here to listen and we are at your service at all times. Thank you sir.’’

However, when at the end of the meeting he was pressed to speak on its outcome, Saraki said they had a frank discussion with the party and agreed to bury any perceived wrong, so the party and nation could move forward.

"Formally, we both bared our minds, told ourselves hard truths and at the end of the day, we accepted that certain things were not done. We accepted to move forward, work closely with the party in the interest of the party because of Nigerians that believe in our party.

"We need to work closely together and we are hopeful that a new chapter is being opened today and we are committed to the hopes and aspirations we gave Nigerians who came out to vote a year and half ago,” he said.

One of the Chapecoense players that survived the plane crash that claimed 76 lives and wiped out most of the Chapecoense football team is making an “astronomical recovery”.
Just a week ago, 27-year-old defender Alan Ruschel, was communicating only with gestures after miraculously surviving the plane crash that killed 19 of his team-mates.

Look at him now, he is pictured above standing with the help of orthopaedic doctor Marcos Andre Sonagli and can be seen giving the thumbs up for the camera.

Alan was the first survivor to be rescued from the mountainside crash site in Colombia and had
suffered multiple fractures.

A video has been released showing him walking with support and giving a positive thumbs up, before delivering a message to those who have given their support, saying:
"Thank you everyone, everyone worried about my recovery. This is Alan Ruschel.
"I wanted to tell you that I am recovering very well. I will soon be back in Brazil to finish recovering.
"I want to thank you for all of your support, for all of the caring messages that I received. Thank you everyone. Thank you very much.”

Female Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia’s Children Involved In The Bribe Deals

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission yesterday grilled the children of a female judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia at the Lagos office of the commission for several hours.

Impeccable sources within the EFCC disclosed that the judge’s children were grilled as part of the investigations into the allegations that their mother received a total of $793,800 in several tranches from different sources unlawfully between 2012 and 2015.

Ofili-Ajumogobia was alleged to have collected bribes through a company account in Diamond Bank, Nigel & Colive Ltd, which she owns jointly with her children.

According to Punch report, it was through the account that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Godwin Obla, also allegedly paid a N5million bribe to the judge.

It was learnt that EFCC had invited the judge’s children since last week but they refused to honour the invitation.

Operatives were said to have stormed Ofili- Ajumogobia’s home located on 18 Lai Ajayi-Bembe Street, Parkview, Ikoyi with a search warrant on Wednesday.

However, on getting to the home, the children were said not to be in the house but the judge’s brother-in-law, Mr. Odein Ajumogobia (SAN), who is a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, went to speak with the detectives.

He was said to have promised to ensure the children were brought to EFCC office in the afternoon.

A detective said, “About a week ago, we gave an invitation letter to Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia and asked her to give it to her two children. However, they never honoured the invitation. So, today (Wednesday), we went to the house with a search warrant but they refused to open the door. A former Minister, Odein Ajumogobia, who happens to be the judge’s brother-in-law, promised us that he would bring the children around 3pm, so we left.

“We invited her children because their names featured in our investigation. So, we invited them to hear their own side of the story. The minister honoured his promise because the children were brought to our officer around 3pm.”

It was learnt that the children were still being grilled as of press time.

See This lady left her kids & eloped with new boyfriend for days, one of the Kid is dead

A young mother has left her one-year-old son to starve to death and his two-year-old sister alone with the body of the dead child for days while she went out with her new lover.

Vladislava Podchapko's youngest, Daniil, a boy aged 23 months, died from hunger after six days.

Her first daughter, Anna, two months short of her third birthday, remained alone in the flat with her brother's body for another three days.

The 20-year-old mother left them only candles when she locked them in her flat in central Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, before vanishing with a boyfriend.

The girl was rushed to hospital on the point of death from starvation. Miraculously, she is expected to survive.

"The girl was exhausted, she was very weak," said a doctor involved in her treatment.

"She was immediately taken into hospital where we started intravenous feeding. She is better now and we can say that she will live. We have started her on tiny amounts of solid food."

The mother has been detained and faces up to eight years in prison for child neglect.

Confronted by police, the reckless lady replied: "I didn't know that children could die."

The frightened and confused children had tried to escape from the locked flat, pulling and tearing the linoleum by the front door.

Neighbours heard the children crying in the morning and evening.

In any event, the stranded children received no help, and are believed to have been found when their mother finally returned.

Police were then called.

Funny enough, her social media account is full of pictures of her children from before the incident, and messages of love to them.

She has an iPhone and loves enjoying life with men.

The children are from her previous marriage, and she found a new boyfriend who got her pregnant.

Now she's going to prison.

Expect tougher times – David Oyedepo warns Nigerians

Dr. David Oyedepo has warned Nigerians to expect harsher economic challenges.
The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, therefore, urged them to draw closer to God, if they wanted to survive the impending tough times.

Oyedepo was speaking during the opening session of the annual Shiloh programme of his church in Ota, Ogun State on Tuesday.

“It looks tough presently but it’s going to get tougher in the days to come. Obedience to the terms of covenant will put you in total command. When all your obedience is fulfilled, all opposition is brought down,” he said.
However, from scriptures, all the children of the covenant, who walk according to biblical truth will always enjoy exemptions from the gross darkness and evils plaguing the world.”

The opening session of the programme was attended by over 2,000 delegates from 41 countries, according to a statement from the church.

Exclusive-Judge earns N24m annually, spent N500m in 10 months secretly

The Federal Government had said investigations had shown that a top Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, spent over N500m between just January and October 2016 despite his total annual legitimate earnings, including his allowances being N24million.

How is the judge making Hundreds of Millions without any other job?

This was disclosed in a document prepared by the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Charles Adeogun-Philips, summarising the case of the prosecution against the Justice of the Supreme Court, who was on November 21, 2016, arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

During his arraignment, Ngwuta pleaded not guilty to 16 counts, including money laundering and others relating to fraudulent obtainment of multiple passports.

The document stated that the case brought against the judge, “chronicles corrupt enrichment, violations of the money laundering laws of our land, passport fraud, and an attempt to obstruct justice by a judicial officer.”

The prosecution alleged that from the N500m, the apex court justice transferred dollar equivalent of N313m cash in $100 bills to a building contractor within the period of nine months between January and September, 2016, to “develop several landed properties” for him.

It explained that earlier in 2015, the defendant, within a period of one month, made various cash payments totalling $180,000 to the building contractor.

It also alleged that during the raid on the defendant’s Abuja house by the operatives of the Department of State Services on October 7, 2016, total sums of N38.358m, $319,596 and £25,915 were found in his possession.

According to the prosecution, the Justice of the apex court gave no satisfactory explanation for the huge sums of money found in his possession.

Prosecutor’s documentThe document partly read, “Another witness will testify before this court that the defendant’s total annual income, including allowances in 2016 amounted to approximately N24,000,000.

“It beggars belief how a serving public servant could have under his direct control, in a 10-month period spanning between January and October alone, cash sums in excess of N500,000,000.”

Adeogun-Philips said proposed prosecution witnesses would also appear in court to testify over the huge funds found in possession of the defendant, among other allegations.

The document stated, “In the course of this trial, the Federal Republic of Nigeria will adduce evidence from a building contractor engaged by the defendant, as to how in a period of nine months, spanning between January and September 2016, he received the total sum of N313,000,000 from the defendant in cash, which was paid to him mostly in $100 bills to develop landed properties for the defendant.

“This court will also hear from another witness, how in his capacity as an architect engaged by the defendant in 2015, he received from the defendant within a period of one month, various cash payments totalling $180,000.

“Investigators will further tell this honourable court how during a search at his residence on October 7, 2016, cash totalling: (1) N35,358,000 (2) $319,956 and £25,915 were found in the defendant’s possession.”

The prosecution alleged that the defendant had betrayed “the judicial oath of allegiance to discharge his duties as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, faithfully, with honesty, and to the best of his abilities”, which he swore to on June 23, 2011 when he was promoted to the Supreme Court bench.

The trial judge, Justice John Tsoho, adjourned till January 16, 2017, for the prosecution to start calling its witnesses.

Lawyer Adeogun-Philips added, “The court will, in the course of this trial, hear how the defendant, having been confronted with the maze of evidence against him, following the search of his official residence in Abuja and his subsequent arrest on October 7, 2016, and oblivious of being under DSS surveillance, prevailed on a potential prosecution witness following his release on administrative bail on October 9, 2016, to remove from his bathroom at his private residence in Ebonyi State several bags containing several land title documents and the sum of N27m cash.

“The evidence will also reveal how the defendant ordered the same witness to remove three luxury vehicles from his residence following which the said vehicles were subsequently concealed at various locations in Ebonyi State in an attempt to obstruct ongoing investigations in this case.”

APC’s Abia-North Candidate Murdered In Lagos

A former candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Abia-North constituency in the 2015 general election, Ugochukwu Nwosu, has been murdered in his Lagos residence.

Ugochukwu was reportedly stabbed to death by a suspected robber at his residence on Shakiru Oleko Street, Agric, Ikorodu.

Punch Metro learnt that the victim, despite his injuries, overpowered and apprehended the suspect.

He, however, gave up the ghost shortly after he was rushed to a private hospital in the area.

A Punch correspondent gathered that the 46-year-old politician was a first class graduate of Chemical Engineering of the University of Port-Harcourt, with a Masters degree in Chemical Analysis from Harvard University.

He was also said to be the Chief Executive Officer of Idife Nwosu Investment Limited and Business Info Base Business Directory.

His driver, one Obinna, said he and his boss were awoken by the sound of falling crates around 3am on Thursday, December 1.

He said, “On the day of the incident, my boss and I were the only ones at home. At about 3am, we heard sound of  empty crates of drinks in the compound falling. My boss, who was still working on his laptop in the living room, decided to go out to check what was happening.

“The sound also woke me up and I followed him. Shortly after, I heard sounds of two people struggling. I quickly ran out and behold, I saw my boss in a brawl with a man; he (Ugochukwu) was bleeding in his right hand.

“I joined him and we overpowered, disarmed and tied up the intruder.

“Afterwards, I noticed that my boss was about passing out.  I had thought he was bleeding only from his right hand, but I didn’t know that the intruder also stabbed him below the abdomen. I immediately drove him to a private hospital; but he had lost a lot of blood. He was later confirmed dead by a doctor.”

Punch Metro learnt that the suspect was handed over to policemen from the Owotu division, who transferred him to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Yaba.

The suspect, who identified himself as Dolapo Olajiru, said he was a robber, adding that he had stabbed the victim while they struggled.

He said, “I used to be a conductor but in the last three months, things have been very rough.  I have not had a vehicle to work with. In the process of waiting, a friend of mine, Ayo, introduced me to robbery. We are five in our gang and we usually rob houses in the Ikorodu area.  When we rob, we take away phones, money and valuables that we can lay our hands on.  We do not have a gun; we only use knives to scare our victims.

“That night, I was walking around to identify a house to rob when I saw the honourable’s  (Ugochukwu) house and I scaled the fence. I landed on some empty crates which also fell. The sound alerted the owner of the house and I heard a door open.  I immediately hid behind the crates.

“When he came close enough, I attacked him and we started to fight.  He was strong, but because I had a knife, I stabbed him in his right hand and he started bleeding.  He held on and tried to take the knife from me; but he couldn’t.  I also stabbed him in the waist, and it was at that point another man joined in the fight.  They overpowered me and tied me up.”

Olajiru said he was not hired to kill Ugochukwu, adding that he was only trying to “survive the hard times.”

The deceased’s elder brother, Innocent Nwosu, described the late politician as a gentleman, saying he was shocked at the news of his death.

“We were preparing for our father’s 83rd birthday slated for December 29, 2016. He was the one piloting the whole arrangement and now he is no more.

“I really pray that our father survives the shock. This is a terrible loss to my family and the entire Abia State,” he added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.

She said, “It is a case of armed robbery. The command received an emergency call about the robbery and our operatives rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, the man had been stabbed. One of the suspects was arrested. Investigation is ongoing and efforts are on to arrest other members of his gang.”

Boyfriend Stabs NDDC Big Girl due to Her Inability to Change next of kin on her bank details to his name.

Greed is a big problem, but many are yet to realize it. The boyfriend to a female staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Sophia Phillips Horsefall, and two others were on Wednesday arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State by the Department of State Services for stabbing her to death.

What was his reason? She had refused to make him the next-of-kin to her bank account as well as her refusal to give him N1 million he had demanded from her.

The accused – Sotonye Martin, Innocent Oluche and Wachukwu Ugochukwu – committed the murder on November 8 this year.

The counsel to the DSS, C. S. Eze, told the court that the first defendant, Sotonye Martin, lured the deceased, who had a 13-year-old daughter for him, to the house of the second defendant, Innocent Oluche, where he allegedly stabbed her to death.

Eze said the first and second defendants later buried the deceased in a shallow grave, noting that they invited the third defendant, Wachukwu Ugochukwu, a spiritualist, to perform some rituals.

According to him, the accused were brought before the court on a three-count charge, which included “stabbing to death with a jack knife and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law, Laws of Rivers State 1999”.

The court did not take their plea.

Chief Magistrate F. Alikor referred the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecution, saying her court did not have jurisdiction to entertain matters over murder, which was the second charge.

Alikor thus remanded the accused in prison and adjourned the matter indefinitely.

The elder brother to the deceased, Amatu Phillips, while speaking to newsmen, alleged that his sister was murdered by the boyfriend of 13 years because of her wealth.

He said she had some money in her account and confided in the boyfriend who later kept on pestering her for financial support.

According to him, after the sister had allegedly given him money several times, he came again demanding for N1 million, which she refused.

He alleged that the boyfriend lured her to his friend’s house, offered her a fruit juice drink which, unknown to the sister, was drugged.

He alleged that when the boyfriend noticed that she was dizzy from effect of the drug, he stabbed her on the neck, demanding her ATM card and password.

He claimed the boyfriend had before that day persuaded his sister to change the name of her next of kin on her bank details to his name.

SUBEB, AKS
I had a contract job with State Universal Education Board (SUBEB). After the job completion, I was mistakenly over-paid with sum of 1 million, Eight Thousand Naira only (1,008,000.00).
When I discovered the discrepancy, I notified the Account Department, and I promised to refund the said amount of money. Firstly, they were shocked by my action as a Nigerian, as it was not discovered by the Auditors.
Today being 7th of December, 2016, as a true patriot and a servant of the Most High God with the fear of God, humanity, conscience and future:
I, Mr Leo Leo Umana on behalf of myself, my wife and kids paid the sum of ONE MILLION, EIGHT THOUSAND NAIRA (1, 008,000.00) back into the AK-UBE ACCOUNT.
Attached here is the Cheque and deposit slips.
In a time like this recession and Economic quagmire, Xmas, school fees, it would have been very useful but I thank God for the grace and conscience to report and return the money.
And I know, by His grace and mercy, I have saved the man's career and job. I am a satisfied man even in my condition.
All glory return to God."
