43-Year Old Father Faces Prosecution For Abusing Children

A 43-year-old father of three, Christopher Sule, is to face the wrath of law under the Child’s Right Act for physically assaulting two of his children, resulting in bodily injuries and scars on the bodies of the minors.

The case has been reported at the Jos South Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State and the authorities have promised to prosecute the accused.

The Management Committee Chairman of the LGA, Mr Augustine Pwakim, told Channels Television that Mr Sule would be prosecuted for violating the Child’s Right Act.

The Coordinator of the Child Rights Protection Network in the state, Mr Tony Obemeasor, noted that with the domestication of the act in Plateau State, the accused would face the wrath of the law for violating the rights and responsibilities of the minors.

The Chief Welfare Officer at the LGA, Ancha Jonathan Adik, also disclosed that the children have been subjected to such maltreatment for three years before a teacher in the school where they attend reported the case to the local government authority.

Mr Sule was said to have subjected the minors who are eight and six years old respectively to sever beating and punishment for various offences which he accused them of and inflicted serious injuries on their backs and faces.

He said that he was trying to correct the bad behavioural attitude of the abused children.

However, the mother of the children who was under the bondage of silence until the matter was reported, also explained what she has been going through with the molestation of the children by their father.

Authorities said the accused would be charged for violating the ‘right to dignity of the child’ which states that “every child is entitled to respect for the dignity of his person and accordingly, no child shall be subjected to physical, mental or emotional injury, abuse, neglect or maltreatment”.

How expired drug killed my brother star, Eric Arubayi's brother breaks silence

Delta State-born second runner up of the maiden edition of the West Africa Idol, Eric Arubayi, Jnr., at the weekend, died at a hospital in Delta State.
Confirming the demise of the gospel artiste, his brother, Derrick Arubayi, in an exclusive chat with Vanguard, explained that the late Eric took ill after taking an expired drug meant to treat his malaria and typhoid ailment.

He said: “He had malaria and typhoid, which was untreated. It later became worse after he took a medication that had expired and this triggered his liver ailment and afterwards, every other thing just followed at a fast pace before his death.

The only thing that we had to say is that he lived for Christ. We just want the world to know that the name Eric Odafe Arubayi was for a reason beyond the West Africa Idol show.

For that reason, God would make manifest even beyond his glorious ascension.” The late musical icon, born on July 14, 1982, is survived by his wife, a son, who would be two in a few months, two brothers, a sister and parents— Professor and Professor (Mrs) Eric Arubayi.

Majek Fashek sue Timi Dakolo for N100M

Image result for Majek Fashek and timi dakolo

Nigerian music star, Timi Dakolo, is getting sued for using Majek Fashek's hit song, “Send down the rain” without authorization when he was sick.

This was made known by Majek’s manager, Uzoma Day Omenka, who disclosed that the two artistes will be meeting in court before the end of March,
after they return from a trip to the United Kingdom.

“We are not taking this case lightly. We are just awaiting the arrival of our solicitors from the U.S., and the UK then we will hit the courts. For crying out loud, this guy is making money from itunes and he did what he did because he thinks in Nigeria, anything goes. If he can prove as he claimed that he paid for the use of the song and he can show concrete proof of it then he will go free, but if not, we will definitely meet in court” he said.

Earlier before now during a courtesy visit to Vanguard in January 2017, Majek’s manager disclosed how angry he was with Timi Dakolo, who he said had no respect for the music legend;

“Timi remixed the song without the knowledge of Majek Fashek, during that period that I was in the US. When I came back I heard the song on iTunes where people were downloading it and they were making money, I was surprised. As a sign of respect he would have come to meet the legend because the song is not an ordinary song.
When we asked Timi what happened, he said he spoke with the manager. I was now asking, who is the manager? Am I not the manager and  didn’t he speak with me? People started saying all kinds of things thinking I knew something about the it.”

On the hand, Majek Fashek who was asked what he thought about the whole issue, said; “Well, I don’t want to talk about young artistes, he is a kid. Let my manager speak on that.”

Timi Dakolo who reacted to the accusation in 2016 when he was notified wrote;
“My people, it saddens me to see such. I always try to do things rightly and lawfully.
“I paid his manager to remake the song, I got my invoice, I even mentioned to him during our rehearsals at the Headies. So, honestly I don’t understand this write-up.

“Oga Majek Fashek. I respect and love you. Your voice gives life to lyrics. You are one of the best musicians I know. God bless you.”

37 Years Old Arrested For Druging Rich Man She Meet Online

A medical doctor, Daniel Biyi, got more than he bargained for after a lady he met on a dating site, Badoo, stole his car shortly after they lodged in a hotel in the Ojodu area of Lagos.
The so called big girl, Mitchel Harold, allegedly drugged the man's drink which made him to sleep for about 20 hours.

Operatives of Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of the Lagos Police Command have arrested the lady in Agbor, Delta State, for drugging the medical doctor and carting away his car, laptop, phone.
37yrs old Mitchel from Warri, Delta State, was on Tuesday arrested after the operatives traced her through a car dealer in Lagos, whom she had engaged to help perfect import papers for the stolen Volkswagen Passat Wagon.

In a statement on Sunday, the police said the suspect and the medical doctor had on January 19 at about 5:30 p.m. checked into a popular hotel in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos with the plan to spend the night.

Mitchel had gone to get a malt drink and yoghurt while the boyfriend was taking his bath.

According to the victim, Daniel, “I went in to take a bath and when I returned, she had gone to buy some drinks. I took the malt drink and yoghurt and I slept off. I slept off at 6pm and woke up around 2pm [the following day].

“Behold, when I woke up, my personal effects such as phone and laptop had gone.

“Unfortunately for me, I do not know any of her relatives. We only met on a social media dating site, Badoo about a year ago.

“As I woke up, I rushed to meet with the receptionist and gateman to ask for her whereabouts, that was when I realised my car had been taken away too.

“They told me someone came to pick the car for her. And, she said she was going to get food. Immediately, I reported the incident at Omole Police Station.”

The victim said he was just aware of the lady’s real name as Mitchel Harrold after the arrest, because she gave him Aisha Ibrahim as name.

“I was getting to know her for real now,” he said.

“Since the incident, I had been trying to call her but to no avail. One of the numbers was switched off, she wasn’t picking the other.”

Accomplice arrested
Arrested alongside with her, was one Gbenga Adesanya, a generator repairer, whom she engaged to drive the stolen vehicle.

According to Gbanga, “I was surprised to see her opening the gate of the hotel herself for me to drive out instead of the gateman. That wasn’t the first time I would be helping her take a vehicle out of Lagos to Sapele.

“It was about the third time. First, it was a Toyota Camry ‘Big for Nothing.’ I helped her moved it from Ajah to Sapele, Delta State. The second one was an ‘End of Discussion’ Honda Accord and thirdly, Volkswagen Passat, 2001 model. I moved that too all night to Sapele.”

Gbenga said he was introduced to Mitchel last year by her elder brother, who worked as clearing and forwarding agent.

“I was told she needed the assistance of a good driver to take her to Warri. I later met her in Ajah where I helped take a Toyota Camry to Sapele,” he said.

“About four months later, she summoned me to GRA Ikeja. She gave me a Honda Accord (End of Discussion) to help her collect fuel from her brother at Wawa, Ogun State. I took the fuel and returned the car. She then told me that she has gotten another driver to take her. She gave me N5,000 and I left.

“The last vehicle is the one that has created crisis for me. Although, I have been wondering where she has been getting these cars but she told me that she hired them from Delta whenever she comes to Lagos, and that a driver brought her to Lagos and returned to Delta. I don’t know she steals cars.”

The police said Mitchel had already informed her brother, Mukoro Okpako, of her desire to sell the car urging him to assist her in perfecting custom papers for the Volkswagen Passat two days before she was arrested in Agbor, Delta State.

The police added that the vehicle was recovered in Warri. It was further learnt that she had removed the number plate and put it in a car mart for sale.

“She attempted concealing the stolen phone when she was arrested,” the police stated.

“As it were now, whereabouts of the other stolen Honda accord, End of Discussion and Toyota Camry, Big for Nothing, remained unknown as she refused to cooperate with the Police during preliminary investigation.”

The Lagos State Police’ spokesperson, Dolapo Badmus, who confirmed the arrest, noted that the case has been transferred to State criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

South Africans burn houses of Nigerians in Johannesburg

Angry residents in Rosettenville, south of Johannesburg, have burnt 15 houses either belonging to or being rented by Nigerians, foreign nationals, claiming immigrants had turned the neighbourhood into a drug haven.
Some shops belonging to foreign nationals in the area were also looted.

South African residents in the area claim Nigerians had illegally taken over most properties and turned them into drug and prostitution dens.

The African Diaspora Forum (ADM) chairperson, Mr Marc Gbaffou, confirmed the attacks and
blamed Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba, for his inflammatory comments, reports AfricaReview.com

Early last December, Mr Mashaba reportedly told a media conference that illegal immigrants got there criminally and should be treated as such. On Friday, he visited Rosettenville where he made claims that foreign nationals were using girls as young as nine as prostitutes in 'drug houses'.

“According to community members, these homes are illegally occupied by Nigerian foreign nationals who run the homes as brothels and have girls as young as nine years old working as prostitutes. Many of the women in these brothels are also alleged to have no official identification documentation,” said Mr Mashaba.
Mr Gbaffou said it was reckless for the mayor to make such a statement without proof.
“What proof does he have that foreigners are running these brothels? His remarks are very inflammatory, and it makes no difference that he has diverted from illegal immigrants to drug peddling. It is very dangerous and we see it as propaganda of hatred,” he said.
A community leader, Mr Andile Tshem, called on residents to desist from violence, adding that it was high time law enforcement agents took action against criminals.
“We don't encourage this at all, you cannot correct a wrong with another wrong. South African people must not be living on the streets when foreigners are using houses as brothels,” he said.
Police have arrested a man found in one of the houses that were set alight in Rosettenville.
The suspect, who is expected to be charged with arson and public violence, will appear in court on Monday.
