The founder of the Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr. D.K. Olukoya, has filed a fresh N2 billion libel suit against Omoyele Sowore.
In the suit filed before the High Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo, Sahara Reporters Incorporation and Objective Media Group Limited were listed as the 2nd and 3rd defendants.
Olukoya in the court papers, accused Sowore of consistently churning out publications that are defamatory to his person. Olukoya and his church are claiming N2 billion against the defendants for alleged aggravated libel and have asked the courty for order compelling Sowore and his media platforms to pull down and erase each of the offending posts from the internet forthwith.
They are also praying for an order directing the defendants to tender written apology and retraction in form and content acceptable to the claimants and published prominently in Sahara Reporters online news media, on Facebook and in at least three nationally circulating newspapers and two international magazines, including TIME International.
In addition, the clergyman is asking the court to issiue an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants by themselves, his agents, servants, privies or other persons howsoever called or described, from further making, publishing and/or disseminating libellous stories and statements against the claimants or any one of them.
In the court papers, the clergyman alleged that Sowore and Sahara Reporters on September 4th, 2018, made and posted a video recording of Sowore addressing a crowd of his purported political supporters on their respective Facebook pages under the heading “Breaking! Sowore Reveals Why MFM General Overseer Daniel Olukoya Is After Him, as He Arrives Lagos”. The video was published after the clergyman had filed a seperate suit against Sowore and Sahara reporters.
In the said video, Sowore was alleged to have falsely and maliciously said to have spoken and published against the the clergyman and his church the following words inter alia namely:
“On Olukoya, very important because this is the latest that happened. I have done reporting on many cabals and you know in this country there are religious cabals, political cabals, traditional cabals and family cabals so I touched all of them not only Olukoya. Remember the one that was sleeping with a prostitute in Canada… It was then that he then went and looked for a Judge in Uyo. Imagine a man of God that is on Lagos – Ibadan Expressway now going to look for a judge in a case that doesn’t even involve them. My suspicion is that they found a judge who is probably a member of their Church who said that he will teach Sowore a lesson. That is not going to happen…”
No date has been fixed for hearing on the N2 billion libel suit.

Gov Akeredolu attacks Oshiomhole: You Will Destroy APC With Your Impunity

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has attacked All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman Adams Oshiomhole over his conducts so far in his short time in office.

He thinks if Oshiomhole continued, he will destroy APC.

There has been no love lost between the governor and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by Oshiomhole since after the primaries.

Akeredolu wanted his preferred man to take over Ondo North Senatorial seat from Senator Robert Boroffice. But the NWC supported the continuation of the senator in office.

On Tuesday, one of the Buhari Support groups, accused Akeredolu of leading the conservative group plotting a vote of no confidence in Oshiomhole in addition to sabotaging the party.

But yesterday, Akeredolu, according to a statenment by his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategy Dr Doyin Odebowale, described the primaries as “political charade”, saying they not only exposed the “sheer incompetence” of APC’s national leadership, but revealed “a shocking proclivity towards banditry and impunity”.

Akeredolu said recent events justified his opposition to Oshiomhole’s choice as party chairman.

According to him, those who feel aggrieved reserve the right to demand justice, including calling for Oshiomhole’s removal.

The governor, however, restated his commitment to work “assiduously” for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election, who he said is loved by the people of Ondo who see his re-election as a “patriotic duty”.

Akeredolu, who described organisers of the pro-Oshiomhole protest as “opportunists”, denied the allegation that he led governors of Ogun, Kaduna Adamawa and Ekiti states against Oshiomhole’s leadership.

”There is no truth in the whole contrivance. The governor has been pre-occupied with matters of governance in Ondo State for which he was elected,” the statement said.

Akeredolu recalled his “noble interventions” as Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President at critical moments in the cause of the progressives, including in restoring Oshiomole’s stolen mandate.

He also denied moving from “north to south” collecting signatures against the national chairman.

Akeredolu added that if need be, he would work to getting Oshiomhole removed as chairman.

He added: ”Those who collected varying and humongous amounts as fees from aspirants during the last grandiose charade called primaries and submitted names dictated to them by a cabal, notorious for capturing political power for unbridled pillage, should be bold to explain their real motives to the people. They should be honest enough to deal with the issues.”

Police arrest Lawan Faro, man who climbed billboard hanger in Yola

Lawan Faro, the man who climbed the billboard hanger in Yola yesterday, with threats to jump to his death if President Buhari fails to resign, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command.
Lawan said he would commit suicide if Buhari does not vacate the seat for Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate.
He was reportedly lured by the Police to come down from the Billboard hanger with the promise that he would be taken to house of the PDP Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, but was instead taking to the Police Station upon his arrest.
Speaking after his arrest, Lawan said
”At about 8:00pm, some soldiers came by in company of some people who claimed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was waiting for me, so I was convinced and I came down.
They had a car parked waiting to take me to Atiku’s house, but unfortunately it was a trick because here I am, they brought me to Jimeta Police Station. But make no mistake about my demand; the moment I regain my freedom, I’ll be heading to a taller object, possibly a telecommunications mast, to carry out my threat.”

Women Threaten N*ked Protest In Abuja

Scores of women who are members of the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress from the three senatorial districts of Ogun State, on Wednesday, trooped out on the streets of Abeokuta in protest against the result of the National Working Committee of the party on the governorship candidate of the state, insisting that the consensus candidate of the Yewa Elders Council, Adekunle Akinlade, should be declared the winner.

The protesters, who also took their protest to the governor’s office at Oke Mosan and the Nigerian Union of Journalists secretariat in Abeokuta, gave the NWC and the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, up till Friday (tomorrow) to address their grievances, failure of which they threatened to go naked at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja.

Led by the Chairman of Ilugun Local Council Development Authority, Mofoluke Soremekun, and other women leaders in the three senatorial districts, the protesters insisted that they voted for Adekunle Akinlade and not Dapo Abiodun as announced by the national leadership of the APC.

The women drawn from across the 20 local government areas of the state converged on the Oke-Mosan governor’s office as early as 8 am from where they marched through IBB Boulevard to Kuto and stopped at the NUJ secretariat, Iwe Iroyin, thereby disrupting vehicular movements.

The women had earlier blocked the entrance to the Governor’s Office before moving to the Arcade Ground within the state secretariat where the party Chairman, Derin Adebiyi, addressed them.

The Deputy Governor, Yetunde Onanuga, while addressing the protesters, told them that she would follow them to occupy Abuja when it was time.

A 13-year-old girl has given birth to triplets in Guatemala after she was raped by a man who was selling sweets in the street.
Francisca Lopez Perez, from the town of Momostenango, did not even realise she was pregnant until her stomach began to swell.
The triplets each weighed only about 2.2 lbs (1 kg) and the two oldest were rushed to the emergency ward of a local hospital where they later died.
Miss Lopez Perez said she had become pregnant after she had been raped by a ‘candy seller’ who she was not able to identify.
She has to constantly take the baby boy to hospital as he is so small that he regularly needs oxygen.
The case of Lopez Perez was highlighted by the Observatory on Sexual and Reproductive Health of Guatemala (Osar).

Oscar said it was only one of 2,102 pregnancies involving girls, aged between 10 and 14, between January and July this year in the country.
And another 59,584 teenage girls, aged 15 to 19, became pregnant over the same period.

The young mum is struggling to care for her surviving baby in extreme poverty, living with her mother and seven brothers in a house made of boards.

Married man jailed for 2 years for leaking girlfriend’s nude photos

For posting his former girlfriend’s nude photos on the internet, a man identified as Ayan Olubunmi has been sentenced to a two year imprisonment by the Federal High Court sitting in Adi Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The convict was also slammed with a fine of N500, 000 by the court, Tribune reports
Ayan, was who is married with children, was said to have taken the illegal action after her victim, a single lady could not meet his demand of N200,000 as inducement for him not to post her picture on Facebook.
The suit numbered FHC/AD/17c/2017 which was between Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and Ayan Olubunmi was presided over by Justice Taiwo Taiwo.
Counsel to the AGF, Mrs Oyewole, had told the court that Ayan had threatened to post nude pictures of his ex- girlfriend, Monica, on the social media sometimes in 2017, when she opted out of the amorous relationship between them.
Delivering his judgement, on Wednesday, Justice Taiwo  held that Ayan , who is in his forties was found guilty of committing the crime after several evidences were made available to the Court proved that he willfully and maliciously committed the crime.
Describing the crime as very disgraceful, despicable and barbaric, Justice Taiwo said Ayan is guilty of violating Section 24 (1) of the Cyber Crime Act, 2015 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
The judge therefore sentenced the culprit to two years imprisonment, and a fine of N500,000 to be paid into the coffers of the Federal Government .
The jail term according to Justice Taiwi takes immediate effect, adding that he had been lenient in sentencing the culprit as the punishment for his crime attracted a fine of N7 million and three year jail term according to the Cyber Crime Act.
He said the Court tempered Justice with mercy because of the pleas of culprit’s counsel that he has a family and he is a first offender.
The judge lamented that those who made the law issuing a punishment of N7 million and three year jail term to the persons guilty of such crimes did not make provisions for compensation for the victim
He therefore advised that such provision should be made by law makers in a future exercise in amending the laws.
Speaking further on the nature of the crime committed by Ayan, Justice Taiwo said:
“I find the act of the convict highly disgraceful, very despicable and barbaric to say the least, he has behaved true to the saying that hell knows no fury than a lover’s scorn.
I must say that the defendant who has a wife and children at home could find it easy to demean and embarrass a woman who was having an amorous affair with him.
“It is an act of meanness to attempt to, if he has not already tarnished the image and reputation of Asare Monica. The act of the convict is very strange in our society not to talk of in Ayesegba Ekiti and Ekiti State in general where there are very proud and educated men and women and the society is so closely linked together and everyone knows one another.
The world has become a global village with the emergence of the social media. Who knows who would have seen the nude pictures?
“Justice in this case demands that people like the convict should be taught a lesson that would serve as deterrent to others who may like to behave in such manner.
“Under no circumstance must Asare Monica or any of her families and relatives should be harassed by anyone. I therefore charge the police to arrest anyone is found to harass Monica or any of her relatives or families and friends,” he said.
