Police Rescue Kidnapped Monarch In Delta State

The Ovie of Agbarha-Warri in Warri South area of Delta State, Orhifi Orovwagbarha Agbarha-Ide Ememoh II, who was abducted on Wednesday, has been rescued by operatives of state’s police command less than 24-hour after he was kidnapped.

The monarch was rescued by a team of local vigilante groups and the Delta State Police Command led by its commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, at about 3:12am this morning.

A palace chief confirmed the released of the Urhobo monarch to Punch when contacted.

The Agbarha-Warri paramount ruler was abducted along the Ughelli/Asaba Expressway near Ossissa community in Ndokwa-East area of the state while traveling for a Security Summit in Asaba,

The state Police Commissioner also confirmed the rescued of the traditional ruler, saying he would be conveyed to Asaba, where he was headed before, but was relaxing in an undisclosed hotel.

The commissioner said the monarch was rescued after he led a team of hundred police operatives and 30 local vigilante groups to comb the Ossissa forest along the area where he was waylaid by suspected herdsmen who had earlier robbed vehicles plying the busy road.

CP Ibrahim said, “The Ovie has been rescued by a police crack team personally led by me. The monarch’s abductors were fleeing with him to a different location after our men combed the entire bush in search for him.

“The monarch was abducted by herdsmen. They are very conversant with the bush even more than the indigenes. Our men sighted the movement of the hoodlums through a torch light and we shot into the air which they responded. They engaged us (police) in exchange of gun fire and left the monarch behind.

“There was laxity on the part of the driver who sighted the kidnappers robbing other vehicles but refused to reverse the car for safety. We have learnt our lessons from the kidnap of the monarch. The lesson is that we all need to be alert and vigilant.”

The commissioner added that no arrest was made during the rescue operation but police operatives have been deployed in the area to smoke out the suspects.

Kris Jenner Does Not Want Blac Chyna At Her Christmas Party

The lines are clearly being drawn between the Kardashians and Blac Chyna. Following revelations Wednesday that sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe want their brother to end his relationship with the former stripper, an insider claims that Chyna, 28, is not included on the guest list for Kris Jenner's annual star-studded Christmas party.

'Rob’s family is over Chyna,' a source told People. 'She is not invited to Kris’ holiday party.'

It's not known if Rob, 29, also intends to stay away from his mom's extravagant bash in protest, or if he'll show up without his fiancee.

While the famous reality clan is trying to keep Chyna at arm's length, they remain concerned about the future of baby Dream, Rob's five-week-old daughter.

In fact, Star reported in its new issue Wednesday that momager Kris is willing to offer Chyna a pay off of $5 million to hand over custody of Dream to Rob and walk away from the family.

'Five million is about all Rob is worth, so Chyna would be smart to consider Kris' offer,' an insider told Star. 'Everyone knows she doesn't love him - she could cash out now and get on with her life,' the source added. I f you ask me

The rift with Chyna, whose former fiance Tyga is in a steady relationship with Rob's younger half-sister Kylie Jenner, 19, follows last weekend's explosive and very public fight between the couple.

Tekno disqualified from the 2016 Headies Awards

Image result for Tekno and headies

Triple MG singer, Tekno has been disqualified from the 2016 Headies Awards. He got only one slot, the 'Next Rated' category which he just lost. The disqualification follows the singer’s deliberate refusal to meet the organisers requirements by making himself available for promotional activities that required his presence including photoshoots etc.

In view of this, Ycee, Aramide, Humblesmith and Mr. Eazi will now compete for the award without him in that category.  It would be recalled that the singer complained over his nomination as a next rated singer when he mocked the organisers in an Instagram post he later deleted as he asked, ‘Next Rated after how many years? Let’s be honest pls” The event holds tomorrow, December 22, 2016.

Salesman bags 2 years for stealing N40million (photo)

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission yesterday December 21, 2016 secured the conviction of one Friday David for stealing the sum of N40, 035,350.00 (Forty Million, Thirty Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Fifty Naira) belonging to Universal Steel Limited.
The convict was arraigned by the Commission on April 16, 2008 on 50 counts of stealing and fraudulent false accounting before Justice M. O. Obadina of the High Court of Lagos State, Igbosere.

The 87 count criminal charge was initially amended on April 23, 2009 and further amended to a sole
count of stealing on March 7, 2016.

Upon arraignment, Friday David pleaded “not guilty” to the charge preferred against him.

In order to prove the case against the convict, the prosecution called 11 witnesses and tendered 38 exhibits (P1-P38).

The investigation leading to the conviction commenced when the Commission received a petition on September 6, 2005 from Universal Steel Limited, the biggest Iron manufacturing Private Limited
liability Company, against one Friday David, Sales Manager, Enamelware Division of the Company.

Upon conviction by Justice Obadina, Mr. Friday David was sentenced to two years imprisonment without the option of fine commencing from the day of Judgment.

The convict was also ordered to pay the sum of N40, 035,350.00 as restitution to the Universal Steel Limited.

Man gets $75 after being wrongly imprisoned for 31 years (photos)

This man pictured below received a $75 check to restart his life after being wrongly imprisoned for 31 years.
Lawrence McKinney served 31 years in jail for a crime he didn't commit. He is now petitioning the state to compensate him $1 million for the years of his life that were taken away. All he's gotten so far is $75.

In October 1977, a Memphis woman was raped in her home by two intruders. She later identified one of them as her neighbor, Lawrence McKinney, who was 22 at the time. He was convicted on rape and
burglary charges in 1978 and sentenced to 115 years in jail.

DNA evidence cleared him of the charges in 2008, and when he was released in 2009, the Tennessee Department of Corrections gave him a $75 check to restart his life.

McKinney told CNN:

"Because I had no ID it took me three months before I was able to cash it,"
Now the 61-year-old is asking Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam to exonerate him.

The Tennessee Board of Parole, which makes recommendations to the governor, voted against McKinney's exoneration by a 7-0 vote at a hearing in September.

According to John Hunn, McKinney's pastor and most ardent supporter, the board cited a list of 97 infractions that McKinney incurred while he was in jail, including the alleged assault of a fellow inmate, who testified against McKinney at the hearing.

McKinney told the board he'd been in prison for years, and that "only the strong survive," Hunn said. Hunn testified at the hearing on McKinney's behalf.

"Lawrence has told that story at our church," Hunn said. "He doesn't deny that story. He was in prison, man."
The parole board also knew that 28 years into his sentence, McKinney admitted to the burglary charge he was convicted of. McKinney said his lawyers at the time told him that if he wanted any chance of being released early, he would need to admit to something.

Since his release, Hunn said, McKinney has worked hard to put his life back together and salvage the time he has left.

In 2010 he married a pen pal with whom he corresponded during his time in jail. The two attend Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon, Tennessee, where McKinney participates in a Bible study five nights a week and where he has found a supportive community that has rallied around him time and time again.

"Although I've spent more than half of my life locked up for a crime I did not do, I am not bitter or angry at anyone, because I have found the Lord and married a good wife," McKinney said.
"All I ask is that I be treated right and fair for what has happened to me. I didn't do nothing, and I just want to be treated right."

17yrs Old Impregnated Student: I can’t count number of men that slept with me

A 17-year old student, Goodness Akpan has confessed that she slept with countless men as such she can't really tell who among them actually impregnated her.

She made the confession on Monday at the Lagos Police Command in Ikeja, Lagos, where she was paraded along other suspected criminals by the Commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni.

Goodness said she was a student of Comprehensive Secondary School in Akwa Ibom State before she became pregnant and wanted to abort it before her sister brought her to Lagos.

She also denied that she was a s*x worker, and explained that she was lured into the s*x world and she liked it and could not control it any longer.

She said she became pregnant after sleeping with so many men and would not actually know who among them that impregnated her back in her community.

Goodness said when she told one of them that slept with her and he denied, she became so confused because they were many, hence she can tell her baby's daddy.

She said she was taken to a church where she stayed and delivered the baby girl.

“If I tell you that I knew the father of the baby, I am lying because I slept with many men and they were countless before I discovered that I was pregnant,” she said.

PM Express reports that Goodness was rescued by police on suspicion of being a human trafficking victim after she delivered her baby in a church. There was an alleged plan to sell the baby.

The police also arrested the owner of the church, a female pastor, Pemi Udoh for her alleged role in human trafficking.

Pemi Udoh, who is the founder of Divine Yard of God Ministry, Iyana Ota area, said she did not know anything about plans to sell the baby as alleged by the police.

She said she only assisted Goodness, who was brought by her sister, Angela to the church where she delivered her baby.

She said she was surprised when the police came to the church and arrested her and took her to the station where she met Goodness.

Ex-President Moshe Katsav Goes Free After 5 Years In Jail For Rape

Former Israeli President and convicted rapist Moshe Katsav was released from Ma’asiyahu Prison on Wednesday after the State Prosecution said it would not appeal Sunday’s parole board decision to free him. He had served five years of a seven-year jail sentence.

A smiling Katsav, flanked by his wife Gila and other supporters, appeared at the gate of the central Israel prison at around 4 p.m. Jostled by the crowd of waiting reporters, the disgraced Likud politician got into a car and drove away without speaking.

He later received a hero’s welcome in his home town of Kiryat Malachi, where cheering crowds rushed to embrace him — even knocking the blue and white large knitted kippa off his head in the excitement.

Woman beats 10-year-old housemaid to death in Lagos

A middle-aged woman, Linda Alapa, has been arrested by the police in Lagos State for allegedly beating her 10-year-old housemaid, Joy Mbafan, to death.

Mbafan lived with the suspect on Bolanle Oduniyi Street, Okegbegun, in the Ikorodu area of the state.

According to reports, Alapa was flogging the girl for a misdemeanor around 3am last Monday when
she passed out and died afterwards.

At the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue where she had gone to deposit Mbafan’s corpse, a doctor on duty was said to have noticed marks of violence on the body and alerted the police at the Sagamu Road Division.

A police source told Punch that after interrogation, Alapa confessed to beating the girl, adding that she would be charged with murder.

“She wanted to absolve herself of the death of the victim, but for the doctor on duty who raised the alarm after a close examination and she was arrested. There are marks of violence on the body of the deceased and she did not deny beating her.”

Some residents of Bolanle Oduniyi Street, who spoke to PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, said they had warned her many times to desist from assaulting the victim to no avail.

A neighbour of the suspect said Alapa did not only beat the girl but also starved her of food.

The woman, who gave her name only as Ellen, said although she did not know what led to the beating on that day, “she usually beat the girl for messing up their apartment.”

“Around 3am on the day the girl died, I heard her crying as the woman (Alapa) flogged her. I woke up my husband to intervene. He said he was tired of the woman’s insults. After a while, she stopped crying.
“It was when I came back from work that afternoon that I saw a crowd on our premises in tears. They said Joy (Mbafan) was dead. The woman’s husband was not at home that day. It was the landlord that told him about the incident on the telephone.”

Punch reports that the landlord and Alapa’s husband were not around when their correspondent visited the residence on Wednesday. The Alapas’ apartment was locked.

Another resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the girl’s father was late while her mother was ill, adding that Alapa had brought her to Lagos from a village in the eastern part of Nigeria.

“But she used to beat up and starve the girl of food. On several occasions, the girl would come to me to eat, saying her aunty did not give her food.”

Lamenting Mbafan’s death, a trader in the area, who identified herself only as Deborah, told PUNCH Metro that she had urged the suspect to counsel Mbafan rather than apply corporal punishment.

She said,

“She made that little girl to lose self-confidence. Her body bore marks of lashes. Now that the girl is dead, she should also face the music.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, in a text message, said,
“I confirm the case. The suspect is under investigation while the corpse has been deposited in a morgue for autopsy.”

18yrs marriage crashes in Lagos "My wife even gave a car I bought to her pastor as "seed"

                          Image result for home alone

In spite of a wife's passionate plea to the court to save her 18yrs old marriage, an Agege Customary Court, Lagos granted the prayers of her 50-year-old husband and businessman, Kingsley Onyenobi, and dissolved the marriage.

The estranged husband said he bought a brand new car for her only for her to give out the car to her church pastor on the pretext of “sowing seed”.

The court ruled that the husband's allegations of infidelity and threat to his life brought against the wife were weighty enough to warrant the dissolution of the marriage.

The President of the court, Phillip Williams, who handed down the verdict, said he was convinced that the couple could no longer live together as husband and wife.

He ruled, “The two of you should go your separate ways without any molestation or harassment.

The court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the wife still claims she loves her husband.”

The estranged husband had on February 11 filed a petition against his wife, Chioma, citing lack of care, infidelity and threat to life.

The mother of two, who is also a businesswoman, denied the allegations and pleaded with the court not to dissolve the marriage, saying “I still love my husband.”

She said, “Please help me to beg him, I am not ready to leave my husband because I still love him.”

Earlier, the estranged husband had told the court that the wife had not given him peace of mind. He described her as careless and uncaring as her attitude led to the death of their set of twins.

He said he bought a brand new car for her only for her to give out the car to her church pastor on the pretext of “sowing seed”.

“I injected millions of naira into her business and she could not give proper account till date; my wife is wasteful.’’

NAN reports that in her defence, the wife told the court when she went for her church convention and the 'Holy Spirit' told her not to go back home with all she brought to the venue.

She said, “So, l left my car, jewellery and other things for the church.’’

She said she could not stay at home most of the time because of the spiritual war her husband and his family had been waging against her.

“My pastor advised me to leave the house for some time.”

But the judge believes the wife's excuses are not tenable, hence the marriage was dissolved
