PDP's Makarfi Surrenders, Recognises Sheriff As Chairman

The leadership crisis in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is coming to an end with the recognition of Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff as the National Chairman of the party by the Ahmed Makarfi faction.
This came to light yesterday during the submission of a report of the reconciliation committee to Senator Modu-Sheriff by the chairman of the committee, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.
The Makarfi faction also agreed that Modu-Sheriff should chair the convention of the party being proposed for June 30.

Speaking with newsmen after submitting the report, Governor Dickson said political solution is the best option in resolving the party’s crisis, adding that litigation would continue to cause more divisions in the party.

Responding to a question on who would preside over the convention, Dickson said that the Court of Appeal judgment which upheld Modu-Sheriff as the National Chairman of the PDP had already taken care of the question.

“If you go to the Appeal Court or Supreme Court and get judgment, you will still conduct a national convention, so political solution is be best option.’’

Responding after receiving the report, Sheriff said that the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) would look into the report with a view to implementing its recommendations.

“Looking at what you are proposing, in my mind, you have taken all the stakeholders of the party into consideration. There is no section of the party that you have left behind.

“If we as a people given the responsibility are to do this, we may not do better than this."

Governor Dickson expressed the hope that the convention would enable the party to move forward.

Robbers Kill Young Manager After Robbing Him In Lagos

Sombreness pervaded Oloto Street in the Oyingbo area of Lagos on Tuesday after suspected robbers shot dead an engineer in his house.
The engineer, Sanmi Ige, was the Facility Manager of BHS International Limited, located around the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island. He was reportedly shot in the head while pleading with the assailants not to steal his laptop.

He was not married.

The robbers laid siege to a storeyed building in the area around 4am wielding guns and cutlasses. They announced their presence at the landlord’s wife’s apartment, waking up her son with cutlass.

They reportedly dispossessed them of phones, money and stole a Plasma television. They proceeded to Ige’s apartment, where they cut the door net to gain entry into his room.

According to Punch, the engineer surrendered his phones and other valuables, but held onto the laptop, resulting in a struggle between him and the assailants.

After they overpowered him and collected the laptop, he was said to have followed them downstairs and was shot by the roadside. Sadly, he bled to death.

During a visit to the residence, there were bloodstains at the scene of the attack. Ige’s room was in shambles, with bloodstains on his bed sheet, with shattered glass of a picture frame on a chair.

Ige’s colleagues and sympatisers thronged the compound as the residents who lost valuables to the robbers recounted their ordeal.

The landlord’s wife, who identified herself only as Mama Muri, said, “They came around 4am. They probably used a master key to open the gate to the compound. They didn’t break it. They woke us up, thoroughly checked our room and collected our phones and money. There was a young boy among them.

“They warned us not to make a noise. They locked us inside and went to Sanmi’s (Ige) room. They collected his three phones and a laptop. With only boxers on, he followed them downstairs, begging them to return the laptop. Suddenly, we heard a gunshot. On getting downstairs, we found him dead in a pool of blood. He was shot in the head. They thought he wanted to recover the laptop by force because he was huge. I am still in shock.”

Her son, Muri, said the robbers carted away his phone and a sum of N4,500.

The landlord, who gave his name only as Babalola, said he was asleep at the balcony during the attack, adding that it was the gunshot that woke him up.

He said, “That was the first time we would experience robbery attack here. Life is the most important thing; he should have let them go with the laptop irrespective of the information on it. I have told the estate agent that brought him here to help us get his family. He was easy-going. When he returned from work, he would park his car and go straight to his apartment. He didn’t associate with people.

“We reported the incident at the Denton Police Station and policemen came to remove his corpse.”

A member of a vigilance group, who gave his name only as Baba Taju, said he sighted the robbers from afar, adding that they were eight in number.

“I heard a gunshot and tried to trace where it came from. They escaped through Coats Street. I think the hoodlums live within the community,” he added.

The Manager, Corporate Affairs BHS, who visited the residence in company with a policeman, lamented Ige’s death, saying it was a big shock to the company.

I just hope Lagos police will do what they are good at and get the killers to face the law.

Scarlett Johansson 'Files For Divorce' From Second Husband

Scarlett Johansson has filed for divorce from her second husband Romain Dauriac following their recent breakup. The couple revealed in January they had called time on their romance, and his attorney Harold Mayerson has said there will be a custody battle over their two-year-old daughter Rose.

"He would like to move to France with his daughter and Ms. Johansson does a lot of travelling," he told Page Six, while adding that the divorce is set to be "an interesting process".

The website reported that the actress' own attorney Judith Poller served the documents to Mayerson on Tuesday. The couple married in 2014 following the birth of their daughter.
Meanwhile, Scarlett has revealed that she’s now convinced that monogamy is “not natural”after their breakup - and her thoughts on romance have been "skewered".

“I think the idea of marriage is very romantic; it’s a beautiful idea, and the practice of it can be a very beautiful thing,” she told Playboy.

“I don’t think it’s natural to be a monogamous person. I might be skewered for that, but I think it’s work. It’s a lot of work.”

And she admitted that marriage always changes a relationship.

“Being married is different than not being married, and anybody who tells you that it's the same, is lying,” she said.

I will never be friends with virgins, they have nothing to offer - Nigerian girl slam virgins

According to Nigerian Facebook user, Ifediba Oluchi Anne, she will never be friends with girls who brag about their virginity as they have nothing to offer.

"I Will Never Be Friends With Girls Who Brag About Their Virginity__This is Why
___________________________________________________
I have friends who were virgins and only gave one or two hints because it wasn't a big deal. From their behaviors, I came to realize that they were virgins because they hadn't found the right person to be committed to. I had no problem with these category of friends. It was their vagina and they could decide how to use it.
I have also met some class of girls whose life revolved around their virginity. They made it a duty to make everyone know they were virgins. It was some kind of achievement for them. The girls who fell into this category were never my friends. Even if I wanted to get closer to them, I couldn't because of how loudly they spoke of their Virginity.
There's nothing wrong with being a Virgin and waiting for the right one. However, when one becomes obsessed with it then there is a problem.
I met one particular girl who took pride in her virginity. She spoke of it all the time and made nasty faces when I told her I had had sex. To her, her virginity was what made her a woman. It was the highest gift she could give her husband. Virginity to her was like a treasure she had to guard so society would consider her a "woman of virtue".
She bragged about how her husband will worship the grounds she walked on after he finds out that she had remained pure and untainted.
People like me who were sexually active were viewed as sinners and sluts in her presence. How can I be friends with such a person?
I find it disturbing that some girls consider themselves better than others because they had kept their pussys away from dicks. The issue of virginity is one which makes girls consider themselves a failure if they aren't able to preserve it.
There are two categories of virgins. The sensible ones and the senseless ones.
The senseless ones think all they have to do is keep a tight pussy. To them, if they can remain virgins, their husbands will respect them. Their virginity is key to their success. They expect a man to worship the ground they walk on because of their untainted vagina. They expect a man to give them millions because they have been untouched. They attach a high value to their pussy when it should in fact be priceless. They live in the illusion that their marriage will work because they were virgins.
They expect a man to treat them differently because of their virginity. That is why we hear senseless talks Like
"Peter is a fool, thank God I didn't give him my virginity".😒
These set of girls forget that it takes less than 2 seconds to break the hymen. They have nothing to offer to anybody except their virginity. After the virginity is gone, all that's left is a big liability.
They fail to realize that virginity is not a key on success. Virginity doesn't guarantee a long marriage. Virginity doesn't make any woman special from the other.
The sensible virgins are the direct opposite of the senseless ones. Being a virgin doesn't define them and they strive to offer something of value to people in their lives.
I will never be friends with girls who "brag" about their virginity because they have nothing to offer except their tight pussys."

Best student in Abuja school reportedly dies after high jump during inter-house sports

Michael Paul Ogbe, a 16-year-old SS3 student of ASACS International Staff College, Bwari, Abuja, has been reported dead, caused serious head injuries he sustained after a high jump during the school’s inter-house sports on March 1, 2017.

His shocked mother, Marian Nnanna Ogbe, has called for a probe of the incident and justice over the untimely death of her only son, who lost his father when he was 4. The late Michael was the best science student of the school.
Sources claimed that Michael would have survived if he was rushed immediately to the hospital for treatment. Findings also revealed that the school

lacked high jump facilities as it was a small mattress that was placed on the ground for the students to land on.

When Authorityngr newspaper called the proprietor, Chief A.B. Ekwere, who also owns Dorben Polytechnic in Bwari, he declined to speak. All the subsequent calls were not picked.
Mrs Ogbe, who said she single-handedly brought up Michael, lamented that she was not immediately informed when the incident occurred. She got to the hospital to meet her son already packaged for the mortuary.
She lamented that if only she was called immediately, she would have taken him to a private specialist hospital for adequate medical attention.

Mrs. Ogbe recalled that the deceased had a premonition of his death as he was reluctant to return to school after the mid-term break.
The school is so careless, they don’t take care of the students, I want justice done. I gave you a live child and you are giving me back a dead one. It wouldn’t have taken me 40 minutes to get to the school,” she lamented.

Woman whose boyfriend killed sister delivers baby boy, wants father punished

A 27-year-old woman, Justina Dusu, whose boyfriend, Stephen Luka, got her pregnant and when confronted, brutalised her and killed her sister, has been delivered of a baby boy.

Justina's boyfriend Luka is currently facing charges of murder, attempted murder, assault and sexual abuse at a Jos High Court.
Speaking about her newborn baby, Justina said,
“I have put to bed and I am very happy; I love my child so much in spite of what happened. He is innocent and I cannot extend my anger to him.”
Stephen Luka was alleged to have attacked Justina and her sister on July 27, 2016, at his home in Sabon Gari, Tudun Wada, Jos, after they went to confront him over Justina’s pregnancy.

Luka, who accepted responsibility for the pregnancy, however, suggested an abortion, an idea Justina
and her sister flatly rejected.

An angry Luka was said to have lost his cool and used a machete on both sisters, resulting in Simi’s death, while Justina lost her left eye in addition to severe injuries on her body.
Luka has denied the charges.

But Justina, who appeared very happy and at peace with herself, said that her son did not commit a crime to be hated by her.
She said,
“I am very happy that I put to bed safely. I love my son very much. He has not done anything to me. He is innocent and I can’t hate him.
“I have put the past behind me. I don’t want to remember the horrible things that happened to me and my sister. When I look at my child, I feel happy.”
Justina, however, maintained that she and her family wanted justice and the appropriate punishment is given to Luka.
“I have forgiven Luka over what he did to me and my sister, but I need justice. Justice must be served and he must be punished for his actions.
“He humiliated me and my family and I can’t take it. He must be punished,” she said.
She said that Luka’s family visited her for the first time, since the attack, on Feb. 28 and subsequently on March 5.
His (Luka’s) family visited me and my family, on Feb. 28., for the first time. They did not t tell me anything. They only said they came to visit me.
“After I put to bed, one of his uncles also came to visit me. He, too, said he just came to visit me. But none of them brought anything for me or my baby,” she said.

Stephanie Otobo granted N100,000 bail

According to new developments in the case between Apostle Suleiman and Canada-based Nigerian singer, Miss Stephanie Otobo, the alleged mistress has released photos of their private video chats after the court denied the prosecution’s wish for her to be denied bail.

The court’s decision was premised on the principle that it is a case between two Nigerians and it did not matter if one of the parties was a man of God. The presiding judge, Justice Kikelomo Bukola Ayeye, therefore ruled that there is no substantial evidence to deny Stephanie her fundamental right to freedom, and hence granted her bail on liberal terms.
Miss Otobo and her alleged accomplice were therefore granted bail on conditions that she deposit a sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum who must be gainfully employed.

Attached to the application for remand was a four-count charge of terrorism, blackmail, and extortion, including threatening “an act of terrorism, demanding property with menace with intent to steal and attempt to extort money,” at the Police College in Ikeja, Lagos on February 14.
Particularly, the second count holds that Wisdom and Stephanie “with intent to blackmail a man of God, did unlawfully demand the immediate payment of the sum of $1,000,000 (one million US dollars) to (them) by Apostle Suleiman,…else (they will) will call a conference and accuse him out for committing adultery …and having an illicit relationship with her (Stephanie).”

Upon regaining her freedom, Stephanie granted the short video interview which we reported in our earlier report yesterday, dispelling other reports of a purported earlier statement where she supposedly cleared the man of God under duress.

As details of her video reveal, she stands with her story of being used and dumped by Apostle Suleiman, as well as his alleged used of influence in the police to intimidate her. And to buttress her Keyamo story, she has shared some telling private and intimate video chat photos at diferent times to confirm their relationship.

As this case continues to boil over, a lot of questions have been flying everywhere with some believing Apostle Suleiman’s resort to using proxies and lawyers to respond to the damning claims may not help his case in the court of public opinion. As it is, the burden of defending himself against the accusations seems to be more than that of his alleged mistress to prove her story. This is because the case if not properly handle may soon start looking like that of a man with means trying to hush the silence and intimidate a hapless girl who got trapped in a love scheme.

Three Nigerian banks set to take over Etisalat today due to N541.8 billion debt

Despite the intervention of the Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC, to broker a peaceful resolution between Etisalat Nigeria and a consortium of banks, it appears the effort may not have yielded a truce.

According to PremiumTimes, a consortium of some foreign and Nigerian banks, including Guaranty Trust Bank, Access Bank and Zenith Bank, are set to take over the telecoms firm today (Wednesday).
The banks have been having a running battle with the mobile telephone operator over a loan facility totalling $1.72 billion (about N541.8 billion) obtained in 2015.

The loan, which involved a foreign-backed guaranty bond, was for Etisalat to finance a major
network rehabilitation and expansion of its operational base in Nigeria.

However, following the failure of the company to meet its debt servicing schedule agreed since 2016, the three Nigerian banks, prodded by their foreign partners, reported Etisalat to banking sector regulator, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and its communications sector counterpart, the NCC.

Although Etisalat blamed its inability to fulfil its obligation to the banks on the current economic recession in Nigeria, the banks said their attempt to recover the loan by all means was fuelled by the pressure from the Asset Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, demanding immediate cut down on the rate of their non-performing loans.

A senior official of one of the banks who spoke with PREMIUM TIMES late on Tuesday said one of the options they have proposed to Etisalat management as a middle way out of the crisis was for it to request for a bankruptcy status.

The official, who requested that his name should not be revealed, since he was not authorised to speak on behalf of the consortium, said the bankruptcy option would require having receivership management appointed by the banks to oversee its operations.

But, the NCC appears not to be favourably disposed to the takeover proposal, the source said, as it believes Etisalat was not only a viable going concern, but also willing and able to negotiate its loan servicing.

However, atop source at the NCC said late Tuesday that the commission had approved the takeover, which is expected to occur today.

Etisalat is Nigeria’s fourth largest telecoms operator, with about 21 million subscribers as at January 2017, according to the NCC. It commenced business in Nigeria in 2009.

Nicki Minaj says she doesn't have to respond to Remy Ma's lies

Nicki Minaj has no immediate plan to respond to Remy Ma's vicious diss tracks. As you already know, in the diss tracks, Remy blasted Nicki and called her every name in the book, including a cheater, a tramp, a has-been, b*tch, a cokehead, disloyal hoochie with bad butt implants. Remy even said Nicki slept her way to the top.
According to an update by TMZ, their sources say Nicki feels Remy's accusations are being exposed as lies by various people, including Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Ebro and Safaree.
There's a lot of chatter that Nicki will fall off if she doesn't respond, but she doesn't buy it.
We're told Nicki is not hiding ... quite the opposite. She's in the middle of high-profile apprearances at Paris Fashion Week. She's also featured on 2 tracks that were just released from Future and Gucci Mane. She also just released a new app.
As for the long-term, Nicki isn't ruling out a counterblast, but she feels right now she's winning by silence.

17-year-old girl seeks divorce from her 35-year-old husband

Image result for say no to child bride
A 17-year-old girl, Fatima Baba, has appealed to the Niger Child Right Protection Agency to dissolve her one-month-old marriage.

Fatima, who is married to 35-year-old Salihu Mohammed, told the agency on Tuesday in Minna, that she was no more in love with her husband, a resident of Shaba Legbo village in Gbako Local Government Area of the state
She pleaded with the agency to dissolve her marriage to enable her further her education.

“I was given in marriage to Salihu by my family, who thought I will have a better life with him.
“I do not want this marriage; I do not love this man.

I want a divorce because I want to go to school and it is only when I am divorced that I can return to school,” she said.

In his response, Mr. Mohammed said that he married his wife legally, and with the consent of her family.

He said that Salihu Mustapha, his wife’s uncle, gave her to him in marriage after she consented.
“At first, my wife was happy with the marriage until she suddenly changed her mind and opted for a divorce.

“I still love my wife and I want to spend my life with her, but if she wants a divorce, I have no objection. I cannot force her to remain in the union,” he said.

Halilu Shaba, the District Head of Shaba Legbo, in his reaction, told the agency that parents in the community were fond of forcing their children into early marriage.

“Some also send their children to become house-maids, thereby denying them the opportunity to go to school,” he said.

He commended the agency for its intervention, adding that such step would serve as deterrent to parents.

The Director-General of the agency, Maryam Kolo, commended Fatima for the courage to seek for divorce, and gave both families a two-week ultimatum within which to dissolve the marriage.

“If you fail to do so within the two weeks, the agency will file for divorce on behalf of the girl in a Sharia Court,” she said.

Mrs. Kolo warned parents and community leaders against forcing children into early marriage thereby denying them the opportunity to acquire western education.

She said that early marriage had many disadvantages including the risk of Vesico Vaginal Fistula, VVF, diseases.

Mrs. Kolo advised other girls to emulate Fatima’s bravery and report similar matters to the agency.

Business Woman Taken Into Forest Into Ibadan After Being Kidnapped,

Three Fulani men were among five other suspects paraded by the Oyo State Police command for allegedly kidnapping a 52-year old business woman in Ibadan.

While parading the suspects, the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Abiodun Odude, gave the names of the suspected kidnappers as Taoreed Ibrahim, 35; Wilfred Manger,32; Moshood Adams, 26; Umar Amadu, 31; and gang leader, Adekunle Folorunsho Aderopo, 31.

The CP said, “In the few days that we have been here, we have been able to record very formidable achievements. The first achievement we have been able to make was the case of a woman, who was kidnapped.

"Her car with other documents were taken away by the kidnappers. We have arrested five of the kidnappers and we are still working and very soon, we will get the remaining members of the gang, who had the rifles and other weapons that were used in that operation. It is a welcome feat for us.”

He added that two of the suspects, Aderopo and Wilfred Manger were ex-convicts.
He said Folorunso Aderopo, 31, was released from Agodi prison in August last year after serving a jail-term, while Wilfred Manger, 32, was also released from the same prison.

“The suspects trailed their victim from her office in Ojoo area of Ibadan to her house in Akobo and kidnapped her around 10pm as she was about to enter her house on February 25, 2017. She was robbed of her valuables before being driven away in her Toyota Highlander with number plate LND 954 EE. All through the journey, she was blindfolded to prevent her from knowing where they were until they entered a forest.
“She was taken to Ogere forest where she was subjected to all manner of emotional and psychological torture. She was kept in the forest for two days and prevented from contacting her family. But through diligent investigation in collaboration with Lagos State Police Command, some suspects were arrested at Alausa in Ikeja, Lagos with the victim’s car on February 28, 2017.”

While speaking with newsmen, the suspected mastermind of the kidnap, Aderopo, said he got information from a member of the gang, Moshood Adams. The suspect said, “we traced her from Ojoo in Ibadan to her residence in Akobo where we dispossessed her of her valuables, including a cash sum of N100,000. So, we took her to a bush in Ogere. I was arrested in Lagos with the Toyota Highlander of the woman.”

Naratting her experience, the abducted woman said,
“We were coming from office at night on Saturday. Then, the gate of our house was opened. The next thing I heard was everybody should lie down. So, we all lied down. They collected all the valuables and they put me in the car, which, of course, I did not know it has tracker.

“We moved for about 25 minutes and I was put somewhere. I was blindfolded till around 4a.m. In the morning, I was moved into the bush and we trekked from Saturday night till Monday afternoon. I was not given any food during the time.”

It's says a lot about you as a woman if by 23 you've never been part of an asoebi group for a wedding. Means you're very useless. Weddings for relatives don't count.
