Proud Meghan Markle will have both her parents at her wedding to Prince Harry later this month - and the divorced couple will meet the Queen days before the ceremony, it can be revealed.
Yoga teacher Doria Ragland and reclusive former Hollywood lighting director Thomas Markle will travel to the UK from the US in the week before the May 19 ceremony at Windsor Castle.
The divorced couple will be introduced to all senior members of the Royal Family including the monarch, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in advance of the big day.
Astonishingly, it was also confirmed today that Prince Harry still hasn't met his fiancée's father - and won't until he flies over for the wedding.
The page boys and flower girls at the ceremony are thought to include Prince William and Kate's children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
In a statement today, a Kensington Palace spokesman said: 'The first thing I would like to share is that Prince Harry and Ms. Markle are very much looking forward to welcoming Ms. Markle's parents to Windsor for the wedding.
'Mr Thomas Markle and Ms Doria Ragland will be arriving in the UK in the week of the wedding, allowing time for Prince Harry's family, including The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to spend time with them before the big day.
'Both of the bride's parents will have important roles in the wedding. On the morning of the wedding, Ms Ragland will travel with Ms Markle by car to Windsor Castle.
'Mr Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George's Chapel. Ms Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion.'
The police have taken Dino Melaye to their medical centre in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, hours after a magistrate remanded the senator in police custody following arraignment.
Gideon Ayodele, Mr Melaye’s media aide who provided the information to Premium Timesyesterday night, also said the senator’s lawyers would file fundamental rights enforcement at the Federal High Court, Lokoja, on Friday morning.
He said the lawyers believe the decision to remand Mr Melaye in police custody was flawed and expressed confidence in the ability of a higher court to show a greater degree of understanding in dissecting the complex web that the case had become.
The police arraigned Mr Melaye before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lokoja on Thursday morning on seven counts of criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms.
Sulyman Abdullah, a senior magistrate who sat over the preliminary hearing, said Mr Melaye should be remanded in police custody but the Inspector-General of Police must ensure his health does not deteriorate. He adjourned the trial to June 11.
Mr Melaye has been hospitalised since April 24 when he reportedly jumped out of a moving police vehicle, thereby sustaining injuries.
A Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday granted a petition by Mr. Akeem Folorunsho for the dissolution of his two-year marriage on the grounds that his wife, Fatima, had a habit of stealing.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that Chief Ademola Odunade, the President of the Court, granted Akeem’s prayers.
“Custody of the eight-month-old child produced by the union is granted to Fatima, while Akeem shall pay a monthly allowance of N5,000 for the child’s feeding,” the arbitrator added.
The petitioner had alleged that his wife threatened his life through constant theft of his money and property.
“Anytime I leave home in search of daily bread, Fatima searches through my clothes’ pockets to steal my money.
“I give her N2,000 every week, in addition to the abundance of food at home, including our baby’s daily needs.
“Worst still, my lord, after her departure from my home, Fatima suddenly came to my apartment, forcefully pulled off the burglary proof and made away with most of my property including refrigerator, mattress, DVD player, sound system, among others,” Akeem lamented.
Fatima, a teacher, denied the allegations levelled against her.
She said, “Akeem stopped catering to my needs not minding that I had not fully recovered from the surgery I had to give birth. That was the reason I carried his property to sell in order to sustain myself.”
The police in Lagos have arrested a 25-year-old cook, Kelechi Ugwu, for allegedly damaging the private parts of her neighbour, Emeka Egwu, in Ajiwe, in the Ajah area of the state.
Ugwu reportedly burst Egwu’s scrotum for allegedly denying her access to her boyfriend.
Punch Metro learnt that the unnamed boyfriend and Egwu were friends and there had been a disagreement between the lovers for some time which made them to keep each other at arm’s length.
The suspect was reportedly disturbed that Egwu did not reconcile her with her boyfriend.
Punch gathered that the boyfriend had visited Egwu, but Ugwu was not aware until her estranged lover left.
She was said to have complained to a neighbour about Egwu’s indifference to settle the disagreement and threatened to deal with him.
The victim reportedly confronted her after he got wind of the alleged threat and an altercation ensued.
The woman was alleged to have gripped his private parts and damaged one of his scrotums with her fingers.
It was gathered that the case was reported to the police at the Ajah division, which apprehended Ugwu.
A source disclosed to Punch Metro that Egwu told the police that he was caught unawares by the assault which happened on March 12,2018.
The source said, “According to the complainant, he was outside around 7pm that day when Kelechi (Ugwu) passed in front of him, looking for her boyfriend who had visited him (Egwu). She left when she could not find him and told a woman that he (Egwu) was the one who told her boyfriend to abandon her.
“He said when he heard that she threatened to burn down his house, he confronted her. She reportedly picked a stick and hit him in the face. While some people held the complainant and tried to caution him not to beat her, she used her fingernails to inflict injuries on his scrotum.”
Another source, however, said the woman, in her statement to the police, said Egwu came to challenge her in her apartment for shouting as she was discussing an issue with her sister.
He said, “The woman is a cook. She said she was reporting a friend to her sister and during the discussion, she became annoyed. According to her, while she was shouting, Emeka (Egwu) confronted her and beat her up with a stick. She said it was when she got to the station that he knew he was injured in the private parts.”
A police prosecutor, ASP P.O. Dike, brought Ugwu before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on one count of assault.
The charge read, “That you, Kelechi Ugwu, on March 12, 2018, around 7pm, at General Paint, Ajiwe, Ajah, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did cause harm to one Emeka Egwu, by using your fingernails to thwart (sic) his scrotum, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”
The presiding magistrate, Mr. L.O. Kazeem, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till May 21, 2018 for trial
Chinese authorities are looking for a man who was filmed carrying a dolphin over his shoulder at a beach in the city of Guangdong.
According to news website Btime, the man is believed to have taken the dolphin to his car before driving off with it.
Witnesses said the animal had been found stranded on a beach in Hailing island, and appeared to be dying.
Local officials said the man could face criminal charges if found.
A statement from China's Public Security Department said an investigation into the incident was under way, urging those with information to come forward.
"Dolphins are protected animals in China, so the man will be punished if he is found," the statement on Weibo said.
Footage of the incident, which took place on 1 May, was posted by Btime on Chinese video sharing site Miaopai where it has received more than six million views.
